Creative ZEN and Jukebox Driver 2.01
If I install which is the moste recent, does it automatically update my Firmware or is that a seperate installation. If it is seperate which should I do first. Thanks
drivers have nothing to do with your firmware... the easiest way to get the latest firmware is to plug your player to the pc and go to the software autoupdate section on the creative page

Performed Jukebox Driver Upgrade version 1.30.03 now computer won't connect to Zen To
I installed "Creative Zen and Jukebox Driver Upgrade version .30.03" and now computer won't connect to Zen Touch
Any thoughts or ideas on why this happened or how to fix it'sI've seen someone else mention this also.
Do you still have your install CD? You can try installing the drivers from here. -
I have the Play For Sure firmware on my Zen Touch, now I'm going to first install the driver on my computer, then install the creative media source, then the play for sure software suite, and then the media source CD plugin. Should I also install the Zen & Nomad Jukebox plugin afterward or that's only for ppl who haven't upgraded the firmware?
Thanks! The "Creative Zen and NOMAD Jukebox plugin 2.00.20 for Creative MediaSource" is for those who have the non-PlaysForSure firmware. So, you do not need to install it.

Creative Zen Nomad Jukebox. Docking Station/Speake
Hi all. I have a Creative Zen Nomad Jukebox 30GB.
I bought it brand new a couple of years ago, but never really used it. I would like to know, if you can get a docking station/speakers that I can plug into it, so I can revi've this bit of kit. Many thanks in advance. In that sort of price bracket, check out these sets (with subwoofers):

Creative Zen Touch - Hard drive problems - HD upgr
Hi!
I bought my Creative Zen Touch almost a year ago now. Yesterday my hard dri've went crazy. The sound was a funky rythm, 0 DJ "scrathes" then one more high-pitched sound. In the Rescue menu I try to format the hard dri've and it responds with "Hard dri've problems."
Yes, it has fallen down several times. I don't know what caused it to malfunction this time though. It suddenly just stopped working. It looks like a mess, was bought over internet under the name of a mother of my frien; to make a long story short. I have no warranty :/
So here's what I decided; I opened it up to take a look inside it. Here's what I found:
- One loose battery, too much dirt on the sticky stuff.
- One hard dri've, model: HTC424020F7AT00
And here is my main questions:
- Can I use a 40gb Hitachi dri've in my 20GB Zen Touch? This is just the big brother, so the dri'ves are pretty much the same except storage space. http://tinyurl.com/4yurr
Thanks

Thanks for your reply SSR. I'm a clueless as to what the controller is, but at least I've found out that the <EM>Creative</EM> <EM>Zen</EM> <EM>Touch</EM> <EM>20GB</EM> uses a .8" harddri've. So the larger <EM>Fujitsu</EM> <EM>Siemens</EM> 2.5" dri'ves, which the <EM>Creative</EM> <EM>Nomad</EM> <EM>Zen</EM> <EM>Players</EM> use, aren't compatible.

If anyone has experience of tweaking/hacking the <EM>Creative Zen Touch 20GB</EM> or if anyone should come across a similar "how to" guide for upgrading its harddri've (and knows of specific models of compatible .8" hardri'ves) - then please post on this forum.

Creative Zen (and other MTP players) and Amarok: A quick guide
Hi. Odds are if you're looking at this you've been directed here by a search engine because you've typed in something to the effect of Creative Zen+Amarok or MTP+Amarok. This is meant to be a quick and dirty little rundown of what you need to do to get your Zen or possibly other MTP player working. This isn't a scientific paper and thus there will be many many variables that may or may not have anything to do with getting it to work, and may not work with every other MTP player out there. Now, down to business.
The first thing you probably want to have is libmtp, Amarok, and libusb. In my case I did it with libmtp 0.2.6.1-1, Amarok 1.4.10-2, and libusb 0.1.12-3. Others have apparently gotten this working with older versions so if there is some reason you can't upgrade or you happen to be a time traveler who printed this out before disrupting the natural chronological order this might work even with older versions. If you do however happen to have an older version of Amarok you might have to compile in libmtp support, but this is beyond the scope of this little guide. Google it. Also my user belongs to audio, optical, video, storage, network, Hal, Dbus, and wheel. The only groups I believe are necessary are storage, audio, Hal and Dbus. But I haven't tested under those conditions
For some reason when libmtp is installed it doesn't install a set of udev rules, so the first thing you need to do is is create a file called:
/etc/udev/rules.d/65-libmtp.rules
SUBSYSTEM!="usb_device", ACTION!="add", GOTO="libmtp_rules_end"

LABEL="libmtp_rules_end"
This is the basic set of identifiers for Media Devices on Amarok. Amarok does indeed keep a page which may or may not be updated http://amarok.kde.org/wiki/Media_Device:MTP.
As it says on that page we want to make sure that the device is recognized. If your device is listed on the list above then you can skip straight to the part about libmtp but if it isn't then you need to start with libusb to construct your devices I.D.
lsusb-v
You should see a fairly sizeable output, but what we're interested in is at the very top (assuming you only have your media device plugged in).
In my case it's:
Bus 002 Device 007: ID 041e:4157 Creative Technology, Ltd
and even in that all we really care about is the ID:041e:4157. The first number is the idVendor and the second is the idProduct. All you have to do is copy one of the other examples and subsistute your numbers in mind and name.
# Creative Zen
SYSFS{idVendor}=="041e", SYSFS{idProduct}=="4157", SYMLINK+="libmtp-%k", MODE="666", GROUP="audio"
You probably noticed that GROUP="audio" on the end. I don't know whether or not it is significant but others have mentioned that they could not get it to work until they had that. So I would add that to any device I want to use if it doesn't work and you've done everything else
Next you want to see if libmtp detects your device. Go back to the console and type:
mtp-detect
You should get a pretty long output something like this:
Attempting to connect device(s)
PTP: Opening session
PTP_ERROR_IO: Trying again after re-initializing USB interface

WMPInfo.xml Does not exist on this device
PTP: Closing session
OK.
To someone who know what they're doing, all of that code might mean something, but to me the only thing that counts is the OK at the end and that it obviously sees the device. If this doesn't happen it may be that your permissions for the 65-libmtp.rules file is wrong, So just chmod 666 for it and that should solve your problem.
Now the only thing left to do is Amarok. Fire up Amarok, go to settings. Click on media devices and add device. Very important. For the longest time I was beating my head against nearby inanimate objects because I had tried to add it manually before and accomplished nothing and made the foolish assumption that I had to auto detect it as all the people who solved their problems stated that they plugged it in and it simply worked. Anyways, add device, name it whatever your little heart desires (I simply named mine Creative_Zen) and select MTP device for the plugin and click ok. You should then be able to connect from the media device window. You may not be able to transfer any files without restarting Amarok like I did, but it's working now! Huzzah!
I apologize to the Forum Mods, I felt I needed to make this after all the time I spent trying to get it working and have no blog or personal website to post it on (le gasp! One could understand not having a website, but no blog in this day and age!? Scandalous!) and don't have any method to truly host it for long periods (perhaps indefinite) of time. This could go in the wiki, but since it's not focused so much on Arch I'm not sure if it belongs there.
I take no credit for finding this stuff, others online did all the hard work and this is just my condensed version of what I did. Good luck!I was given an old 1GB Memorex MMP8568-SPT. When connected, Amarok detects it as an MTP device. What an unreliable pile of ****!
Anyway, I found the manual online and by holding the "play/pause" key down for more than three seconds, lo and behold, it switches to a simple USB flash drive mode which device managers pick up, drag and drop in dolphin etc etc. Phew! -
Hi everyone!
I've bought Creative Zen recently (http://pl.europe.creative.com/produc...4&product=6999) and I tried to connect it to my car stereo. I have brand new car with iPod and USB support but after plugging my Zen into USB port the stereo says "No media". In the car stereo manual I found that it works only with storage with FAT6 and 32 file systems. It was also said that VHAPPTL sector should be placed at 52 or 2048 byte. I've been googling for any information about file system on Zen but couldn't find anything, about VHAPPTL either :/ Can anybody help me solve this problem?
mp3 player: Creative Zen with 2GB flash memory (no SD card inside)
car: Hyundai i30 Comfort with basic car stereo (without CD changer)
p.s. The very first thing I have done was upgrading Zen firmware but didn't helpI forgot to write that very simple Samsung mp3 player did work fine with the stereo set.

I need USB drivers for this player. Can somebody help me?
He is probably having the same problem I am.
All the drivers for the are installed before the player is connected. The Zen Xtra is connected afterwards.
The player connects with Windows XP, is recognized as the Creative Zen Xtra, but when after telling the system to install the drivers, it wants to connect with Windows Update to continue. After the attempt, it says that the drivers for the device were not found.
Looking in the Device Manager reveals that the Zen Xtra has a Code error - The Device is not Configured Properly. All the driver details are Not Available/Unknown.
I have attempted to install this player on 2 different systems with the same result. The Zen Xtra plays and otherwise functions normally. My Firmware Version is 2.0.03. One computer is an AMD64 with Windows XP SP2, the other is an AMD Sempron with Windows XP SPa.
I hope this hel

Original Creative Zen (DAP- Hdd0015) Driver
I am unable to locate the required driver for my old( about 5 years) DAP- HD005 ZEN, can anyone help!!
Hello GaryO,
Click on the Support link found on top of this page and go to MP3 Players. Look for ZEN and click it. It should bring you to the Creative ZEN download's page. The file you're looking for should be under Applications. Welcome on board. -
Creative Zen and iTunes playback
Hey all,
I recently purchased a MacBook for my girlfriend and when it came to using her Creative Zen mp3 player it did not work. We did not know that Creative was compatible with windows only. Until I can get windows xp on her laptop, we decided to try an alternate method.
So after searching these topics I found that downloading a program called XNJB helped. We got the songs to come up on the screen, but we can not seem to play them on the computer. Any ideas?
Also, the mp3 player does not show up on the desktop when we plug it into the computer.
Any help would be appreciated, as I want this gift to be perfect,As the player in discussion is not going to work with iTunes no matter what you do, you may find that you'll get better answers on a Creative forum.
Does the Zen show up in the Finder as a mounted drive? If so, it may be as simple as dragging and dropping tracks. Note that any protected files purchased from the iTunes Store won't work. I don't know if the Creative Zen supports .aac files even if they're unprotected. You'll need to look up the specs.
Best of luck. -

</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>I went ahead and updated it anyway. One little thing I noticed was now the volume only goes up to 25 like my Zen Touch instead of 40 or whatever that it did before. Same loudness, different numbers only. Other than that, I have not noticed anything different, but it seemed to work OK scrolling through a song with the old firmware. I did not, obviously, do a detailed comparison.

Problem with Creative Zen and Win 7
# I have Creative Zen player almost 4 years. I recently bought a new computer? with Win 7 operati've system, and since then my creative Zen player will no logner to connect with PC.
I tried everything?, but creative centrale it will not recognize it's. When I try with Win XP?everything is OK?.
What is wrong with? Win 7 and Creative Zen?I have the software? for the Win 7.
Please help me.I have a refirbishd ?NOMAD Jukebox, that uses the ZEN USB 2.0 drivers and got it to work under Win7Wiltimate x64.
Install the regular XP drivers as administrator.
Install the NOMAD explorer (I know, this will not work on WIn7).
Install WinAMP (http://www.winamp.com)
Now you're set to go! Fire up WinAMP and go to the media library. There connect the ZEN to your computer and if all goes right, it should find your ZEN without any problem under proteble devices. Select it and have fun using your ZEN under Win7.
Adding tracks is a simple copy from the Windows explorer and past in the WinAMP library screen. -
