Creative Zen Hardisk Probl

i go into my recovery mode to try and format my disk and reload my firmware for my creative zen micro player, since i have come accustomed to doing that over the months of ownership. however when trying to do either a message prompts me that i have a HARDISK PROBLEM is there any way to overcome this problem or will i have to take my player in for servicing.

jeeeez, i have said this like 0 times in other posts
If the Recovery Options are not helping, the only other solutions are:
Send your player in to Creative, they will repair it for Cash
Try banging your player on the side, this will help because a) your hardri've is probably stuck b) it will loosen your hardri've back to a "normal Operation" state
The second method has worked for me twice with my old Nomad Jukebox 20gb.

  • Creative Zen - Installation Probl

Hi there,?I was installing my Creative zen and my computer crashed out half way through the installation process. I tried Uninstalling the program but it will nor unistall as there is an error, i tried re installing it but it will not let me and i tried using the repair button when the disk is put in and it wont let me do that either. Has anyone got any suggestions on how i might be able to fix this problem. Does the program have to be installed for me to use it, can i just use it like a portable dri've and move files over into it's?ThanksChris

Same problem, purchased my creative zen Micro 0-0-06. Noticed 4-25-06 that I can not turn on my zen with on/off switch. I can however get my zen on by plugging in usb cable. Very frustrating since I have taken good care of device. $78.00 did not give me many day of usage. If you find a solution to the prob let me know. Thanks.

  • Creative Zen Connection Probl

I have the Creative Zen MP3 player (version .00.02) an i downloaded the driver from the support section but windows media player and creative media source don't recognize it. It comes up under My Computer but i can't do anything because it is very slow (can't click on songs can't delete or add) anyone know a fix?
Thanks.Message Edited by jargs on 09-7-20070:06 AM

What o/s are you using XP or Vista, but first look in the update section for a new firmware update, and read the instructions on how to update. This solved all my problems and made the player much better!

  • Creative Zen Micro Probl

Hi,My Creative zen Micro is not coming up as a removable dri've, yesterday when plugged into the USB is came up with found new hardware, but now nothing. I downloaded the drivers but nothing works. I can't update the firmware on it, because it isn't recognised. The USB cable works fine because it charged the mp3 player - Any ideas?

I've got the same problem, I tried to upgrade the firmware, and after my pc didn't recognise the zen micro anymore, I can't do anything with it anymore...
hope the support can help me solve this, anyone has any ideas? or has solved this before?

  • 40 gig and 60g Creative Zen Nomad probl

I'm sure these are dead horses on the board but recently I've had two players cop out on me and of course the phone lines at creative don't offer any help, other than advising me to buy a new one of their products (no thanks). Here's the deal:
<SPAN class=postbody>one freezes on building library screen and there is absolutely nothing i can do to get off that screen the other one just goes to the rescue mode after the eax screen and i can't do anything from there aside from rebooting.

The?BEFORE you post, READ THIS FIRST (FAQ) post links to information about this error here in the Zen FAQ at Nomadness.net.

Ix emailed creative which iv loved for a long time but man when it comes to these they flat out want nothing to do with you. 3 emails later i still havnt gotton a reply,. I may contact my lawyer and have them contact them. Iv spent over $500 for this and acc.. only to not have it work. Not only that have no one return my call. From what iv read on this site it seems they never even tested these things. Seem they let us test them only to find that there selling faulty stuff and im sure they know. They should do a recall to everyone of these darn things. Anyhow i will continue to try to work at this. It baffles me that spending so much for something and i can make it work isnt right.
Creative is usueally good at replacing broken zens. I don't know why you are so upset, just get a new one and go on.
And if you think that Creative has a lot of problems with there micros, look at ipods (follow the link in my sig) If micros should be recalled, then ipods should be banned.Message Edited by penguinking3 on 05-8-2005 03:8 AM

  • Rebooting Creative Zen Microphoto Proble

I have had my Microphoto for about 4 years now and it hasnt crashed or anything till these past weeks. It was freezing, not charging fully, and turning off by itself. When i went to Creative's help site it said to try to update the firmware so i did. While it was in the trying to update my player froze in the Recovery Mode and now whenever i turn it on it goes back to that screen and I can't change it. Also its practically dead and won't charge so sometimes it is even hard to get it on. And as others have said, my computer won't recognize that it is plugged in IE why it won't charge probably as well.
    I have a windows XP
I think my WMP is actually 9 or 0. I'm not sure on where to find the actual version.

A couple things if you're using the same battery that came with the player replace it. Sounds like hard dri've is dying. But if the battery is bad you would not be able to do the update to firmware. You need WMP0 to do firmware upgrade. Open Media Player at the top where it has File,Tools ect. Click on HELP the sub-menu click About Windows Media Player. That will tell you the version.

  • Creative zen v probl

Ok, i'm sure this has been asked about a thousand times on here but i've searched around and i am still confused. I have a ZEN v gig, win 2k, and the player says its version .05.02. The downloadable driver on this site is for 2.xx.xx players only right? I intsalled it anyway and of course its not working.....hopefully someone can help.
    thanks...........

    jfi'veonetwo,
The number .05.02 is the firmware version of the player. There isn't any downloadable driver for MTP device such as the ZEN V you have as the driver for MTP should already be included with Windows XP latest service pack and WMP0. I believe your problem lies in the OS as you mention you're using Windows 2000 instead of XP.

  • Creative zen microphoto proble

i'm having problems with the installation of this product. I have run the installation cd, and everything was installed correctly. Now....when i plug the zen into the usb port it displays "NEW HARDWARE FOUND". It runs through the process of scanning for the hardware to install it but cant find it. :S:S:S:S:S:S
Is this a problem with the CD? or the PC or what?? Help.....

Firstly, does your system meet the requirements? It needs to be Windows XP, with SP or 2, and Windows Media Player 0.
The driver for the player is provided by WMP0, and located in the WINDOWS\INF directory. You can try getting the device to look there, by forcing a driver update from Device Manager.

  • Creative Zen Touch Proble

My Zen Touch won't turn on. I thought it had a low battery, so I hooked it up to the charger, but the usual little battery in the upper corner of the screen didn't show up. It won't turn on and when hooked up to the computer, it isn't detected. But the little blue power light is on and I can't shut it off. Any ideas?

I tried resetting it. But now the blue light went off and it won't turn on either. When I hold down the power button as if I'm trying to turn it on, the blue light blinks three times. Now what... =[ Help would be appreciated.

  • Creative Zen USB and File transfer probl

Am the unhappy owner of a brand new Creative Zen touch 20gb mp3 player which apparently works with usb 2.0. After installing the software which came on the cd (file transfer software and nomad explorer) the Zen appears to get recognised by the pc with no problems when i connect via the usb cable. The Zen also displays 'docked' which is all very well. However if i select say 0 tracks to download to the player the xp progress bar seems to halt at around 60-70% and eventually the program (nomad) complains that the operation cannot be completed. I noticed that the small hard dri've in the player feels as though it is 'spinning down' around a similar time to the message being displayed. If at this stage i refresh the players view in nomad explorer it can be found with no problem....its just i cant write to it until i unplug the usb from the zen and reconnect. I spoke to creative who told me that because my pc (in system devices) reports that my usb is an 'open host' adapter...this means it cannot supply adequate power to the player....but surely USB2.0 is USB2.0 and if something claims to be USB2.0 compliant that would be the end of the story? The usb card im using is a usb 2.0 pci card and is also pretty new. Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated.
I have tried various usb ports, usb and2 conections ( I have both), various cables and combinations and the same happens. I have also tried win xp and win98, and other disks I have with the same result. I have managed to transfer 20 os so mp3s (a small proportion of those I have been trying to transfer)after 3-4 hours hard labour but never the contents of a full folder. After a proportion of the files are transferred then Zen touch becomes 'busy' or 'not connected'. Obviously there is no way I can continue like this and it will have to go back.
I have tried the slightly newer driver but this did not work at all and I had to roll back to the one that came on the CD. I feel that I have given it a fair shot trying all the workarounds.
Is is a USB power problem? Should a powered usb hub cure it's If so why?
But is this surely is Creative's problem. It is obviously a known issue but what are they doing about it's Putting out Zens which are prone to this problem is not good practice. Any solutions out there?

    Hey,
If you tried it on a friend's computer and you're still having problems then it may be a problem with the Zen. Before you call or e-mail tech support, here is what they will tell you do to first before they really get in depth with helping you. Go into Rescue Mode (there is an explanation on how to do this at the top of the forum) and do a disk clean up. After that, try it. If that doesn't work then click the reload OS option which will take the firmware (like windows to your PC) off the Zen. Don't worry you can easily put it back on. Go to Support>Downloads>select Zen Touch, etc, etc. and download the latest firmware and run it. Hopefully that will fix it....
I had some connection problems myself with my ZT as soon as I got it as well. and simply reflashing the firmware fixed and now I love my Zen. I hope everything works out for you.

  • Creative zen microphoto booting probl

My creative zen microphoto wont load. It's just a black screen with the creative logo. I have tried to format it from the recovery mode but that freezes too. Can anyone tell me any possible solutions to this problem?

  • Creative Zen products and "Frozen" probl

    Hi,
I'm one of many owners of the zen micro who faces this very problem. I don't really want to caveman it but it seems like creative is intent on not really helping as I don't see a FAQ or an answer to this oh-so-common problem anywhere on the website or doesn't give tech support on products older than 6 months (which is a very short amount of time for an electronic device that costs almost as much as month of my rent). Would you please be so kind as to indicate me the proper technique to fix this?
Because you see I bought an iPod following the departure of my zen micro and it's been working really well so far but I'd really like to make use of the money I spent previously as a backup player and I don't think it's fair that a problem so common seems to get ignored.
A brief example, early playstation 2's optic dri've were a major problem, most of them broke in x years/months/days. This was a known problem which anyone using a playstation 2 of that generation would experience at some point. I bought a PS2 second hand which managed to work for 3 years and bam the optic dri've stops working. I call Sony and I get told "mail us the unit, this is known problem and we will fix it for you". Granted it did cost me 5$ to mail the unit, I was very satisfied with Sony's service and now own a PlayStation 3.
My Creative Zen Micro breaks in a common way and I get told to either smash it hard and have it work for a few more weeks, or I mail it, pay for pieces, repair and mail-cost to have it work for... less than 6 months apparently? I am lost for words, I truly am! Please provide us with a solution because I believe most people using a Creative facing this problem do NOT intend to buy another Creative product.
Thanks for reading this long text, but I believe it's a fair review of the situation,
