Creative Zen M 30GB, How do I select folde

I have a Creative Zen M 30GB and I cant seem to find a way to select folders.
The player lets me select music by albums, artists, genres... but It does not let me select the folders as they are on the mp3 player.
This reallly sucks becase I have music sorted and picked out, in seperate folders....
Any one know how I can select folder on this player or can it even do this?

I am loading the zen with music video files only (wma) and would like to have the same playback options as mp3s.
I understand video file dont have "tags" like mp3s used to facilitate searcing for tracks eg. artist,album etc and i wonder if this could be a problem.
The question is...How do i get the player to play a list (or folder contents)) of video files either randomely or consecuti'vely without having to do it manualy for each and every video ie set up a playlist. Or is this not possible

Creative Zen Vision 30GB - How to set IR Remote ON with Navigation keys not working in the play

I have Creative Zen Vision 30GB player. Within a month of buying, its navigation keys stopped working. I took it to the customer service of store where I bought it and they fixed it (their solution was to make firmware update, even though I do not understand how come that can fix this issue). Anyways after another 5 months of not so often use, the same problem returned (key pad stopped working and without it this player is useless). I sent it to Creative and they returned it saying that as it has few scratches on the edges, they believe it has been hit. I never dropped the player and these are normal scratches at the end if you do not use any skin (which I could never find for this player). Btw from my other friend's experiences, Creative always does like this, never considered warranty (so beware!). Anyways now the problem is that I have IR remote for Zen vision but it can not work till IR Remote setting in System->Player Settings is switched ON. And this can not be done as the navigation keys are not working. So please please suggest me some other way if anybody of you know to enable this setting through software. Otherwise this costly player is just a 30GB harddisk for me

Just wanted to mention - I bought the IR Remote thinking to make the player useful without navigation keys. Now I feel like I wasted more money instead of shifting to some other player by some other company with better customer service.

Creative Zen M 30gb - Menu Prob

I just bought a Creative Zen M 30gb. Whenever I go into a menu, I get stuck there and can't get out. The only way I can return to the main menu is to reboot. Is my player faulty or is there something I can change in the settings to cure it's Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does this happen all the time? Perhaps you can try updating the player firmware and see if it hel

Creative Zen Xtra 30gb

Hi,
I'm wondering if any techie guys can help me out here. I bought a 30gb Creative Zen Xtra about 4 years ago. I used to regualy syncronize it with my pc at home. Then one day my hard disk on my PC decided to give up the ghost and died. I carried on using my mp3 player as it was for a while without actually resetting the connection up with my PC. Then one day went about sorting it out but whilst i was in the process, which I would start and often come back to whilst trying to get all the correct drivers etc, it was plugged in via USB and must have fallen off my computer desk and unfortunatly ripped the USB connection component from the mp3 players board. As it was quite an old player anyway I thought i'd have a go at repairing it myself, rather than spend money on what is esentially a bulky 4 year old mp3 player, but I have since given up trying to repair it. Although now I would like to try and transfer the mp3's, which are on the fujitsu 2 /2 inch IDE, dri've to my PC. I have tried using an IDE to USB converter to try and connect it as an additional dri've on my PC which it detects but won't bring it up as an additional dri've (i assume because it's not NTFS or FAT32 formatted). I have also tried using Linux based Fedora to try and mount the dri've, also without any luck (although i'm not overly familiar with using fedora). Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can get the information off my dri've, as I would like to buy a new Creative mp3 player and just transfer all these mp3's from my computer rather than have to re-record the hundreds of cd's I had uploaded over time to my Zen Xtra. I don't know but I certainly hope so!!! It really sucks that my Zen Xtra was bought 2 months too soon and doesn't work with Napster to go!!! I am reallllly hoping that Creative and Napster will work together so that all the creative models will work with Napster to Go!

Creative Zen 8 gig - How do I play all videos at one time and skip to next vid

I was able to do this with the Creative Zen V plus 2 gig, why can't I with the large and more expensi've one?

Creative Zen M 30GB Freezes Everytime I plug into the computer

Every Time I plug my Zen into to the computer via USB the player freezes and I have to reset.
I have reinstalled the firmware several times, cleanup, and format in the recovery section but still nothing.
If I start the player up with no usb it scrolls through everything just fine.
Any Ideas?

If you have the skill to solder it do it. This could be the cause of the freezing.when you conncet the cable. If not you can find another board.

Software Autoupdate and Creative Zen Xtra 30GB Mp3 Pla

Hi,
I recieved a replacement for my Zen Xtra which broke under warranty (very unimpressed with Creative at the moment) and since the scroll wheel wasn't working properly I installed the latest firmware and now that's OK.
However while using the Software Autoupdate to do this I also installed the latest of all the other software for the mp3 player. Since this I haven't been able to use my DVD player at all (It's still installed but doesn't notice any disks) - the two are DEFINATELY related since it stopped working virtually as the software installed. Everything I could download there (Mediasource etc) installed except for the Jukebox drivers which give an error.
The other problem is that although I've been able to uninstall all the other stuff Mediasource is still installed and is stuck that way - "An installation support file could not be installed. The system could not find the file specified." - looks like Creative haven't updated their uninstall program for the new version of Mediasource to me.
I've emailed Creative technical support but I wondered if anyone here'd had the same problem and is there any way to fix it without formatting? (It'll be impossible to format and reinstall XP without a working DVD dri've...).
Could anyone link me some sort of iso/bin/etc of the CD that comes with the player itself? I might be able to install that with Daemon Tools and then see if I can persuade it to uninstall itself then.
Any ideas?

Anecdotally they will honour the warranty of the country you purchased in, so 90 days parts and labour for the USA, and you might get another 9 months parts only...

Creative Zen xtra 30gb detection iss

my laptop refuses to let me add music to my player. I have sp2 and wmp 0. I tried my mp3 on a friends computer and it worked and instantly recognized. I updated to playforsure firmware on my friends computer but it wont recognize my player on my laptop. When i plug it into my laptop it detects that i plugged in a zen xtra player but it asks me where the drivers are. I have installed the drivers already and i try pointing the hardware install directory to the creative folder with the drivers in it. It tells me that the driver is not found. You can see this thread and try those files mention and posted by this poster "DM". The "fixup" file seems to help others.

Creative zen M 30gb every problem there

ok where do I start? well for the last 4 days I have been stuck up in the bedroom trying everything to install the creative CD software. I keep getting a prompt saying that the creative software can not run on my version of windows xp professional. So I have tried to download the service pack 2, I cant do this because my daughters computer was baught from a carboot sale and has got a crack copy of windows (I have just found out). I did manage to get windows media 0.
I get another message saying that I am running a high speed device on a low speed usb, and I have tried to charge the zen for over 5hrs, the battery light was flashing telling me it was charging, but now it wont even turn on? I have called creative and they was usless?Can someone pleeeeeeeeeeeeeas give me any advice on this. Thanks?

well you have usb .0 thats low speed you can buy a upgrade at walmart for about 20 bucks. if your player wont turn on?press and hold play puase button and push reset hole with paper clipremove paperclip and release play pausego to resetthen reboot

Creative Zen Vision 30Gb Stuck in Recovery Mode, Freezes when trying to deal with Firmware

My Zen Vision is stuck in Recovery Mode. The PC recognizes it but it comes up as 50mb Storage Media. When you touch Reload Firmware or Format All, it freezes and you have to pull the battery out to shut it off. I don't know what to do. Charges fine, never said anything about HARDWARE issues, just can't get it to not freeze when trying to load firmware back onto it.

I did the same thing, my unit was working perfectly.
I just read that these players have a laptop 2.5 hard dri've installed in the unit. If this is true, the next chance I get, I will take my unit apart (40 gig nomad zen xtra) and see if I can reinstall the firmware directly. It's probably what they do at the repair sho

I got a Xtra Zen 30G, it vibrtaed after every song. I went back and exchanged it for another one and the new one is doing the same thing! Is this normal?

The player will not start. I have tried reseting and this does not work either. When I plug into my pc, the blue light flashes, but the pc will not regonise it.

How Can I Select Folder From itunes will import my photos?

When I begin to sync my ipod Classic with itunes 8.0, I see the screen with tabs on it that allow me to set my upload preferences. When the syncing is occurring, I'm unable to make any changes. When the syncing is completed, this screen disappears and I can't seem to bring it up again.
I want to use this screen to change the folder from which the photos that will show on my ipod will come from.
Will somebody tell me how to get to the screen that will allow me to change the folder that my photos to be stored on my ipod come from?

Have you tried clicking directly on the iPod icon in the iTunes source list to bring up the preference tabs in the main pane?
You can also use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes which might help. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys together. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer.

Creative zen m ...... a suggestion

Hi,I am a proud user of a creative zen m 30gb. While i was using the player, i noticed that when the player is used to play music, after some time (if no button/touchpad of the player is used) the backlight of the screen goes to a minimum, that is at 0%. (i am assuming it to be 0% as i have set my screen to 0% brightness and now it remains the same, whereas earlier it used to dim ).now lot of times i happen to use it at my bed time. The thing i noticed was that even at 0% brightness, the player's screen was quite bright !!!!my point is, for example lets say i have lined up hr worth of music to play. now while its playing, i do not want to see the screen. So why should the screen remain at that minimum brightness at all ? why cant it just go dark as happens in the mobile phones? In my opinion, it would save alot of battery life..... and every minute of that wld be useful.my players firmware is quite old (.4 something). maybe the new one supports sumthing like this.... can any adimin tell me if this is possible? it wd help all alot ! thanks !!finally lemme congratulate?creative for making such an amazing player. got quite a few bugs though. but definately better that ipod.... sound quality too is great ! whoever i show this player too is just bowled over by its screen !!! enjoy !

I'm so glad I looked into this forum, you answered my question. I purchased a Vision M a few weeks ago and I think it is absolutely spectacular, but this morning I noticed that during playback a few seconds later the screen became dimmer but did not turn off completely,? and I thought my Vision was breaking down because I also have a Micro and a Sleek Photo and the screens go off completely a few seconds after playback starts. I'm going to try locking it and see if that works.

I just posted a thread about this same thing... I'm not so excited... the touch pad is semi- competiti've with the apple click wheel... but that whole scroll wheel on the side thing merely contributes to the clean look of the player... but overall, I think it'll be less intuiti've to use, not altogether horrible to use... but I imagine myself liking the touch better... And stickers? what am I, fi've years old? I like the colored backlights thing... even though an oled display would have been even better, but why don't they just concentrate on making the thing in stylish colors, not like the cheesy faceplate colors of the micro but in sexy metallic colors, given the thing is all shiny already, and give apple a run for their money.
