Creative ZEN Micro - Drivers Nee

Hi,
I've recently had major problems with my computer and have had to format the hard dri've and reinstall windows. Since this i've lost my original setup disc for the MP3 player and have over 5gb of music on it that i want to put on my computer. I have downloaded the drivers from the downloads section on this site but they don't work on my computer. The player is SOMETIMES recognised in My Computer as an audio device but you cannot copy tracks from it and put them on your hard dri've, only delete them or look at properties!!!! Please help!!?Cheers

Well the drivers you need are here http://ie.europe.creative.com/support/downloads/download2.asp?Product=0795&dlcentric=00098&Product _Name=Zen+Micro&OSName=Windows+XP and these should allow you to get your player up and running. You can also download MediaSource and that should get up up and running.
What may be a problem here is that the USB drivers may not be correctly installed. Check with the motherboard vendor (or if you have a cd that came with the motherboard install this) as there may be updates available.
Once on the system u should be ok.

Creative zen micro drivers not found on Win98SE - incompatib

My brother received a zen micro 6 gb for christmas with firmware 2.20.05 installed on it. the computer has windows 98 SE installed on it, and as far as i can tell from the posts i've read, the firmware is not compatible with win98se, although it says right on the box that it is. on the same computer i run my zen touch 40gb, with firmware .0.03, and it works fine. i've rebooted, and reinstalled, uninstalled, the works, muliple times now, and was wondering if there a way around that would let me get his zm working, maybe downgrading the firmware, if thats possible.

media source version 3.30.2
zen micro media explorer version 4.00.22
nomad explorer version 3.0.0
also have a creative soundblaster audigy installed, if that makes a difference.

Did your Micro come preloaded with that firmware? If so then its possible that it was a used one. As far as I've seen Micros come shipped with a v firmware which will work with Windows 98 like it says on the box.
That firmware is meant to be updated manually after you purchase the Micro so you know that you are limiting your compatibility to Windows XP systems only.
Your only way to get it working with Windows 98 is to installed a v firmware. You can download it from Creative.com, or check the CD that you got as it might have the v firmware someone inside one of the directories. But to get the v firmware on it requires you to first connect it to a Windows XP system. Once its connected and recognized you need to run the v firmware updater program which will then remove the v2 firmware and put the v firmware on it. Take it to your Windows 98 machine, install the Zen Drivers, connect the player and it should work now.

Hi ,?Im trying to install my Creative Zen Micro in windows Vista , But A Compatibility Problem appear and i can't install it .Windows Show me that a new hardware is found? and what i have to do , i Install it with the CD , but The installation can't be successful and a message saying me i have to contact Creative Support for the dirvers appear and the installation can't be completed. I've tryied to contact creative suport , but they don't find solution . I've searched the drivers but they wasn't found in creative site web . I updated my Firmware as stated by Creative Labs support team. I downloaded on my son's PC which has Window's XP Pro edition. Again, on his PC there is no problem with recognition of the device and/or player. However, when I plug my player into my PC which has Vista, the device manager has a "!" next to ZEN Micro Photo. So my PC "See's" the player. However, when you right click and then go to "Properties" it states that "The drivers for this device are not installed (code 28)" Then it states to "reinstall the drivers" But when I tried to install or reinstall the "Driver" using the install wizard, I get an error message... "An error occurred during the installation of the device" and " A service installation section in this INF is invalid" Then a pop bubble appears and says "Found new hardware" You may have a problem with your device. It may not be working properly" So what do I do at this point. The only way for me currently to download music is to use my son's PC. At least I have another option... I feel sorry for the rest of you. When will creative wake up and smell the Vista!!

Creative Zen Micro CD Drivers LOST!!!

I lost my Creative Zen Micro CD for about one and a half year already. Is there anywhere I can download the Media Explorer or the Media Source Organizer? I have downloaded all the drivers and application from the zen micro download links however it doesn't work right. It says it can't detect the mp3 and i don't know what else to do. I really need it bad as i already haven't update my Zen Micro for about one and a half year for now. By the way, I know that I'm not the only one that needs it.

Updates on my Zen Micro. I tried to do different things with the player by going to recovery mode and accidentally, I press the reload firmware option. I thought that I can upgrade the firmware of my zen micro, however, when I ran the firmware installation i.e Creative Zen Micro PlaysForSure Firmware update 2.2.02 Filesize : 2.32 MB or Creative Zen Micro Firmware ..0 Filesize : 2.03 MB, it said that it could not detect the player, so, there is none firmware in my player. I kept observing each one closely before I purchased a product. I then saw the Zen Micro Photo come out. This one won my attention. I loved this, I quickly searched for reviews and went for the buy for Christmas. I told my dad about it and he was "iffy" on the price, but it was better then the iPod in my opinion.Christmas day came and I opened it. Right away I checked everything out I knew a lot about the menu already and all, but not really how to control it. I checked to make sure everything worked. All systems were go. After listening to the defaults (which I loved) I went to go install the software. I already had Media Player 0 and Adobe, oh and I didn't want the freakin AOL toolbar! Lol, so I installed everything else. It took forever, but I hooked it up and I installed the drivers, but as soon as I plug in the USB connector I see: "A HIGH-SPEED USB device has been plugged into a LOW SPEED USB port.After that, I switched USB ports, btu I got same message. I hit the X and then tried to charge. I got the Lightening Bolt, but no dimming of lights. I found out that this computer is not letting me install any service packs, I'm confused about that.My question:Is there anyway I can charge this mp3 player and download music onto my Zen Micro Photo without Service Pack ? Or did I just pay $250 for a really cool glowing mp3 player to be used as a paperweight? (I love this Zen and I ran the battery dead hoping that would make the charging easier).Help?

Thank you DM for responding. I am expecting problems, but it still won't allow me to charge the Zen Micro Photo or even use the Creative Media Source. I can't upload any songs or any contacts on it. I haven't uploaded anything yet, but it's not reading the USB device. When I run Creative Zen Micro Photo Media Explorer I get this message at the top of the screen: "The device is not connected. Please connect your Zen MicroPhoto to the computer. I can't organize anything or add songs... so it just makes all the programs I downloaded useless and my Creative product unusuable.ONe thing it does do though... whenever I plug in my Zen MIcroPhoto to the USB it turns it on and glows, but only shows my battery at the top with one red line and the green lightening bolt filling the battery up.After leaving it like this for two hours the green moves, but the red bar stays the same size.

Having big problems with Creative Zen Micro Photo!! I need much urgent help!

Hi. I am having a big problem with my MP3 Creative Zen Micro Photo device at the computer.Here is the thing:Before I bought this I had the regular Zen Micro & having fun with it. I had no problems with that when I used the Media Explorer to transfer songs. So I bought the Zen Micro Photo & installed it my computer. As normal I used the Media Explorer to transfer songs & pictures.So I reinstalled Windows XP at my computer, and when I installed the CD that followed to transfer new songs, the Windows said that it's an unknown thing I have connected in the USB.So I installed Service Pack & 2. I have tried to install drivers from the cd but it seems that there are no drivers on the cd! The big problem is that when I connect the MP3 to the computer, it doesn't read it's a Zen Micro, it's just unknown! So the Zen Micro Photo Media Explorer program doesn't work & I can't transfer songs or picture on it! And it just happened after I re-installed Windows on my computer. The same thing happened on my brother's computer after he re-installed windows. And when I connect the MP3 to the USB, it says that it's not a USB 2.0, but .! And I am sure it is 2.0 because it has always been like that before I re-installed windows. Also the MP3 does not re-charge when I put it my computer! The battery is just the same, it tries to do it but it doesn't. So I am using my sisters computer to charge the MP3 & transfer songs. I have tried everything but I can't seem to understand what the problem is? I have never experienced something like this before, and I really hope you can help me with this! To be honest I think what I am missing is the driver. So can someone PLEASE provide me the link for the driver? I have downloaded all those 3 on www.creative.com, but they are none of them! CREATIVE ZEN MICRO and WINDOWS VI

I hope this question has not been repeated.
I have a Creative Zen Micro and have attempted to install it on my current computer that uses Windows Vista 32-bit. However, it was unable to install or find the driver necessary.
I've already looked at the 'driver release plans'?for this product and there is only a page regarding 'Nati've Support', which says 'The MP3 products ZEN Micro, ... require the latest firmware to ensure Nati've Support in Window Vista'.
I've searched for firmware for the Zen Micro on a Windows Vista 32-bit in English, and found nothing.
How can I make this product work with my Windows Vista 32-bit computer ?

First of all for a little background information, the problem lies in a problem between Creative's firmware installation program and Windows Media Player . WMP is standard in Windows Vista. As a matter of historical information, Creative has not developed any drivers for Windows Vista, therein the rub; Windows Vista does support the Microsoft PlaysForSure initiati've, and many of the older players like the Micro series does have PlaysForSure firmware available to enable the player to be used in Windows Vista.
Now for an outline of the necessary ste
ps.
Back up all of the content on your Micro. The firmware that you will install includes a disk format that will erase all of the content and change the way that the disk dri've on the Micro is formatted.
You'll need to find a Windows XP system that does not have Windows Media Player installed. You or the owner of the system should also be knowledgeable in the use of Windows XP System Restore feature so that you can return the system to it's previous state after you are finished with it.
Create a Restore Point on the XP system. Download and install the drivers for your Zen Micro to the XP system. This will enable the player to be recognized by the computer.
Download the PlaysForSure driver for the Micro, V2.2.02, to the desktop of the XP system.
Connect the player to the system with a USB cable and execute the program.
When the firmware installation has completed, the player will reboot. You may disconnect the player. After you have confimed that the firmware revision is correct on the Micro, do a System Restore to put that system back in the condition that you found it.
Connect the Micro to your Vista system and it should recognize the player and install the nati've Windows PlaysForSure driver and pair it with your Micro.

BEFORE I CONTINUE, REFERRING TO THE KNOWLEDGE BASE DOES NOT WORK FOR ME, I TRIED THE STEPS BUT THEY SIMPLY DON'T WORK.
HERE IS THE PROBLEM:
YESTERDAY, I RECEIVED MY ZEN MICRO PHOTO BLACK 8GB in the mail, and was able to get the charging started through my computer after installing the required software (mediasource, media player, wmp 9.5 codec, etc). Before I started the charging, I connected my player's USB cable to the back of my pc. Windows XP w/SP2 prompts that it 'found new hardware.' I go ahead and check in my computer if the player would be able to be accessed. I also confirmed with Creative's mediasource software, and it claims that 'no player was detected.' I did the same in windows media player 0, and says that no hardware was detected. I confirmed to make sure that the USB cable was properly connected, and it was. I tried all the ports and tried other devices through them, and they were able to be successfully detected and used, (i.e; web cam). I don't understand why my creative zen micro photo would not be detected by the software included. Windows is requiring me to install some sought of driver for the player, but I already installed all the required utilities and codecs. I believe it is charging and is detected by windows but not as a removable storage, etc, just 'FOUND NEW HARDWARE', and then no drivers found even through the CD creative provided me. I am also fearing that the battery is taking a long time to charge. This morning I saw that the player was on, but was still charging(I assume). I decided to charge while the player was turned off. Hopefully, now it will be fully charged while the player remains off. I will check when I get home. In the mean time, would some one please assist and respond to me for resolving this situation ASAP for the detection of the player. I sadly am very unhappy with the ZEN Microphoto 8. I was planning on leaving on a trip in the morning and found that suddenly my laptop no longer will recognize my device. I hasve been using the device for several months now with no problems at all, unitl this afternoon. It went into recovery mode and no matter what I tried I could not get it out.
I was finally able to unlock the unit by connecting the unit to my desktop. I was then able to install the firmware update. But now the unit will not work on my laptop at all. All of my media is on my laptop. I have tried several cables to no avail. I am sure that someone is going to mention the suggestion that the device not be used on a laptop, however I find it frustrating that after so much time the unit suddenly does not operate. I tried all of the suggestions in the support section. And it seems truly sad that this might just be due to the cinnection to athe laptop, considering the number of people that now use these as their primary PCs.
If any suggestions can be provided as to the cause of this problem I would love to get it fixed.

If you are getting errors when installing this suggests a problem with the Windows install. Have you tried the install CD?

Creative Zen Micro: Driver problems and mo

Hello, hope somebody can help me out a bit here.
My Creative Zen Micro seems to have stumbled rather severely. I get a firmware error and the recovery menu. I've tried the Clean Up tool, Formatting it, and reloading the firmware doesn't work at all, as the Zen won't connect properly on my Win2k box (probably due to the lack of support for it on Win2k).
It does connect (sort of) in Windows Media Player, which is where I transferred most of my music to begin with, though now it displays nothing in the contents of the Zens harddisk (obviously this was before I formatted my Zen).
So I tried installing the drivers on my new computer which runs Windows XP SP2. The drivers install, but Windows doesn't seem to care. When I plug in the Zen I get a "Found New Hardware" message, however it can't seem to locate the drivers I just installed.
I think I might be able to get things going right if only the drivers would work on WinXP. Or it might just be that the Zen is totally borked. I'm unsure.
Any thoughts?

yeah my creative zen micro came with the disk to install the thing onto the computer but its cracked and will not work. What should i do know how do i put songs onto it without having it installed on my computer, and can i get a new disk from creative? also a buddy of mine has a creative zen touch and if i used that disk and put it on my computer would it work with the zen micro? Creative Zen Micro Probl

Hi,My Creative zen Micro is not coming up as a removable dri've, yesterday when plugged into the USB is came up with found new hardware, but now nothing. I downloaded the drivers but nothing works. I can't update the firmware on it, because it isn't recognised. The USB cable works fine because it charged the mp3 player - Any ideas?

I've got the same problem, I tried to upgrade the firmware, and after my pc didn't recognise the zen micro anymore, I can't do anything with it anymore...
hope the support can help me solve this, anyone has any ideas? or has solved this before?

Creative Zen Micro... What could it

When I tried to update my creative zen micro to the firmware version 2.2, the program froze, and I was forced to close it while the screen was stuck at "Player rebooting... please wait...". Now, when I hook my player to my computer, my computer recognizes it as a portable device under Device Manager named "Creative Zen Micro" and it is recognized in My Computer. When I right click and hit properties on the icon in My Computer it says Firmware Version: 2.2. But when I double click it says it only has a 20 MB space when this player is 5 GB. When I turn my Zen Micro on, the player quickly flashes to "Firmware Problem" before proceeding to the Recovery Mode Screen. Now, each selection in the Recovery Mode works. But, where I'm stuck is when I go into the (latest) version of the Zen Micro explorer, it tells me to connect my device. Also, when I try to downgrade my firmware or run any Creative software that requires the device to be detected, it can't detect it. This is quite odd, considering windows detects it under Portable Devices just fine.
-I reinstalled all the original software, still no go
-I reinstalled the original software and upgraded to the latest manually, still no go
-I reinstalled all my USB port drivers, still no go
-I cleaned and formatted the player under Recovery Mode, still no go
All I need to do is downgrade my firmware to a non Plays-for-Sure (since it is the version of installation that failed). But, I just can't get the Creative programs to detect my player.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

I got it to work!
Here's how I fixed it ( in case anyone else has this problem )
-I connected the player to another computer in the house.
DO NOT connect the player to a front of the case USB port because the computer had trouble using the player in that port, connect it DIRECTLY to the motherboard in the back of your computer.
-I installed the software.
Note: The computer did NOT have a previous version of the software installed at all, ever.
My laptop and desktop could not recognize my player properly, but they DID have the player installed previously on both of them. (But it also could be because they both have Creative Sound Card software installed, you never know)
-Zen explorer did NOT detect my player, so I ran the firmware update ( in my case downgrade to . ) installation and VOILAH! It detected my player fine and downgraded it successfully.

hey, i have a Creative zen micro (orange, 6gb but i think it doesent matters"), but when i turn it on, it says "Firmware problem".
and it goes to the menu (think is called Recovery menu) and it shows:

1.Clean Up
2.Format all
3.Reload frimware
4.Reboot
now creative tells me to download a new firmware.
i did.
then to "RELOAD FIRMWARE"
and click on the upgrade, but then it says that there is no player connected, and my compuer does recognize it.
is there any way to fix this or is my zen busted?

I had a simalar problem with my Zen xtra, if it failed durng a firmware update and its stuck in recue mode try this:
Remove all creative software and drivers from your P.C
remove windows media player and media player runtime ( from control panel/add/remove programs - if you have them listed there) you should see it go through a rollbackl procedure to an earlier version of wiondows media player.
Downlaod the latest firmware for your player
Re-boot/re start your P.C
Go to the creative support website, and download the plays for sure software suite
listed as:

install the software by clicking on it.
RE-boot your P.C, with your player conected via USB
once your P.C re-starts, go to the location where the firmware was downloaded to and get ready to start the upgrade
Copnnect your player to its charger ( unless it charges via USB)
On your player slect the reload OS option in the rescue menu
When prompted by your player start the firmware update on your PC.
with the Zen xtra firmware you had/need to select the language option in the update on the P.C when the p[layer displays the 'update over USB' message.

Creative zen micro line-in recordi

I read a review of the zen micro at CNET.com, and their short video clip tells me that the zen micro has line-in recording. However, nowhere does it state/mention that feature in the zen micro homepage, nor is it mentioned in any other site. I would just like to confirm that the zen micro doesn't have line-in recording...

Yep, the CNET.COM video review did mention about a line-in recording function. But maybe because that video was recorded way before the Zen Micro was actually launched, therefore there was a mix up in information. And so no, Creative Zen Micro does not have a line-in recording function. However, the Zen Neeon and Zen Nano Plus does have line-in recording if you're interested =)
