Creative Zen Micro--HOLD button proble

Is anyone with a Zen Micro also having problems with the hold button? Mine only works when the player is on. Once I turn the player off, it automatically turns on again. It's very strange. Then when I'm actually able to push it to hold after it's shutdown it just starts up again and maintains that it's on hold (I can't press any buttons on the touchpad). I've tried to reach Creative CS but it's busy or I wait forever. I've come to the desperate point of taking out my battery every time I finish listening to my player. Otherwise I end up with no battery power because it's in my pocket, playing all day while I'm at work.
Anyway, if anyone has had this problem and can hand over any suggestions, they'd be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

  • Creative Zen Micro 5gb Hardware Probl

I bought my Mp3 plater just after Xmas and already it has refused to work. What happened was that when I tried to switch it off, the screen froze on the shuttign down screen, this lasted more then /2 an hour..so I decided to take out the battery and replace, it's now saying that there is a hardware fault and won't play.
I have not had any bumps major drops with it.
So what could be the problem.
I can't even get into recovery mode.

i have the same problem posted for my 40GB. it sounds like the support is bad with this company. SSR, you seem to have a lot to say, but it usually ends up with contact support. have you actually had any experience with support that was good? i have just been told that i will have to spend $88 to fix a unit that only cost $206 a bit over a year ago. i cant understand why there is no cooperation from creative to coorect what appears to be a serious reoccurring problem. is there any action a group of customers with the same problem can take? any ideas out there? it doesnt seem to make sense that we spend a couple hundred bucks and have something lasy a year or so, and then spend another couple hundred bucks to either fix or replace it. i'd love some feedback.

  • Creative Zen Micro 6GB probl

I've some problems with my Creative Zen Micro 6GB MP3-player.
It won't go on anymore because the on/off button is broken.
The MP3-Player already had some problems with getting stuck while it was?starting up, so the new problem with the on/off button was new. I've send an e-mail to Creative support but I already did that for 2 months ago and I got no answer. Does anybody knows what I should do or what the adress of Creative is in The Netherlands so I can send my Zen to them?Message Edited by Mattijs on 02-4-200703:53 AM

To send in a unit you have to arrange that with Customer Support first, they will arrange everything and give you the address details along with a reference number that must be on the front of the package when you send it to us.
When you e-mailed us before, did you get an auto response back? That always goes out, if you didn't receive that, it's possible that either your request didn't arri've with us, or that you did get a response but it got stuck in a spam filter (if you have one set up).

  • Creative Zen Micro - No Scr

** NOTE ** This is the message I sent to Creative support. But I would like help from everyone here, too. **
Last night I had been charging my computer, and
shut off my computer with my Creative Zen Micro
still plugged in. At that point, everything that
was on the screen became frozen onto the screen.
I turned in on, then turned it off, and
everything disappeared. I thought it was fine.
But earlier today at school, while listening to
my MP3 player, I went to change the song and
noticed that a bunch of jibberish was being
displayed. At that point, I had proceeded to
turn off/on my MP3 player again.
When the random assortment of letters, numbers,
and lines hadn't ceased to disappear, I
immediately turned off my MP3, took the battery
out, and placed it back in. At which point, I
turned on my MP3 player to discover... nothing
is being displayed on the screen anymore. I took
the battery out again, put it back in, turned it
    on, and still nothing.
I am now at home and have backed up everything
that was on my MP3 player. I attempted a
reformat via the troubleshooter, (take battery
out, hold power button on, put battery in,
continue to hold power button, etc...) but
nothing is being displayed. Thus, I cannot
perform a complete reformat, cannot restart, or
do anything with it at all.
The screen remains entirely blank, even if music
is playing. You can press pause and it pauses,
or press the [next song] button and change songs,
but nothing is displayed on the screen.
I had acquired my Creative Zen Micro on Boxing
Day of 2005 (December 26, 2005), and have only
had minor problems such as it freezing
occasionally. I currently have a 2 year warranty
that I purchased along with the MP3 player in
question. Any help would be appreciated.

Bump. Sorry, but I would like a response. I have checked other threads about this issue, and to me it sounds like it is a hardware malfunction and I HAVE to send my Zen Micro back to Creative.
Update: My MP3 player has been sitting, off, for about 5 hours. I turned it on and there was a single blue line running across the bottom of the screen. At this point, I began to reset it again. Good news, the screen appeared! I told it to reboot, and now everything is working A-OK. But I DEFINITELY will not turn off my computer without unhooking it first. Biggest mistake I made.Message Edited by Rape_of_Faith on 02-04-2006 0:44 AM

  • Creative Zen Micro, Blank Scre

I purchased a Creative Zen Micro about 9 months ago. In the last maybe 3-4 months it's been randomly not showing a screen. It still plays music and i can still press the buttons, but the screen is blank. It didn't bother me that much because I could still figure out how to change it to another artist and all that. The screen would also randomly show up when I turned it on sometimes so it wasn't a big deal.
Now it's been a few weeks without a screen. I still wouldn't mind, except for the fact that it's somehow stuck in a list of about 5 random songs that it plays over and over. (And not my favorites haha) So yeah i'm getting pretty sick of it. I cant seem to figure out how to change the songs, or get the screen back. I've tried resetting by taking out the battery, and I'd assume if it were a battery problem then it just wouldnt work right?.. And I cant get into the recovery mode either without a screen. So can anyone help me with this? or should I talk to Creative about it ? Thanks!

  • Creative Zen Micro (Startup Failure) Need URGENT he

Hi, i was on holiday in Singapore about 2 weeks ago, and i bought myself a Creative Zen Micro from one of the local sho
    ps.
It worked fine, music played brilliantly, i was happy. However, today when i turned it on, it would display the 'CREATIVE COPYRIGHT' Screen, then followed by 'CREATIVE' in large letters across the screen. It would then freeze on this screen, and the off/on button would soon become useless, which meant that i could either leave it on and kill the battery, or take it out.
When i took the battery out and in again, it would repeat with the 'CREATIVE' sign. Following the 'recovery' methods, i managed to load the screen with all the different options such as clean-up, etc etc. However, when i load any of them up, it would freeze once again and i would end up taking the battery out again.
I have tried the reset button with a pin but that doesnt do anything. I have a spare battery that does exactly the same too. My computer doesnt detect the Zen btw.
I have important documents and almost my lifetime's supply of music that took me almost weeks to rip and store into that Zen. Now that its basically dead, and i bought it in Singapore, i have basically no warranty, i feel as if i have been throwing cases of money into the toilet. I need urgent help, if theres any other ways of restoring access to my Zen.
Check the reviews on a respectable site like amazon.com: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Creative-Zen-Micro-6GB-Player/dp/B000AMR76S
After browsing around forums over the internet, I have found many other people complaining about this, which makes it a MAJOR flaw in the Creative Zens. Screw petty chargers and plugs, get the software right.

The problem you have is very simple, yet complicated to be solved. Your zen's hard dri've is dead. Most of the people who own a zen don't know it has a hard dri've inside. Some mp3 players have flash memory. Chances are that you've dropped your mp3 player. Zen's hard dri'ves are very sensiti've and must not be moved around too much. The way to go in this case is to replace the hard dri've. It is actually a micro hard dri've what you need. Seagate ST 5GB MicroDri've CF Type II. Once you have a new Hd installed you can format it using the zen's menu (remove the battery, hold the power button, place the battery in and wait untill you see the menu) This requires some experience formatting HD's and installing firmware. There is another option. You can buy a Patriot 4Gb Compact Flash Card, and follow what I've described above. The good thing about this is that your zen will take more vibration than the original. The bad one is tha those range from $70 - 99. I hope this hel

  • Creative zen micro error message ?

    Hello,
i have got a creative zen micro mp3 player but he is now giving me an error message like this:
"select music to be riproduced from library music"?
and also it does not display anymore song name and its artist during song playing.
Can anyone explain me why does it happen ? How do I solve it ? (i want song details back on? my player and i want that message disappear)
Last week my mp3 player falled down.
    Thanks a lot, bye.

&Have you tried to clean up or re-format your player?
. Ensure that the ZEN Micro is turned off.
    2. Remove the battery.
    3. Move and hold the Power button to the Power On position and re-insert the battery to the ZEN Micro.
    4. Hold the Power button until the Rescue mode appears.
    5. Choose clean up or format all and reboot

  • Creative Zen Micro 6GB/Problems with Power Switch and Firmw

The power switch on my Zen Micro has died. I can't turn it on or off unless I 'jump start' it from a USB cable and leave it alone to go into idle shutdown. I've had this player just three weeks and this is happened and frankly I'm disgusted. But wait, my story get's worse:
So before sending it back to Creative I thought that I should at least exhaust every possible cure. First on my list? A Firmware upgrade to v2.22.05. I downloaded the program and set about installing the new firmware but halfway through the process it hung and I had to end it prematurely. Now what I had was a ZM that apparently had v2.22.05 but was not being recognised at all by my computer. Media Explorer wasn't picking up on it and neither was WMP although strangely when I connect the device it's there in the Device Manager...
So, check back with the website and it said to download an update for Mediasource and that should solve the problem. Downloaded the patch but then realised that I hadn't installed Mediasource on my computer (can't remember why I didn't though). Went back to the downloads page and downloaded Mediasource. Tried to install it but I can't. The reason? because my computer isn't detecting the ZM and I can't install it until it recognises that it's there.
As a last resort I thought that I would try to use 'Rescue Mode'. Seemed simple enough, remove the battery and hold down the power switch. Then put the battery back in and wait for the rescue screen to come up. Seems easy enough. Oh wait, I don't have a working power switch.
What I do have though, is a small piece of plastic and metal that I can't turn on, can't turn off, can't put any songs on, can't listen to, can't fix and can't be bothered with. I have a ?60 paperweight.
Anyone at all have any idea what I should do? I just want to put it all in a box and send it back to Amazon with a request for a full refund or a threat to take them to the Small Claims Court.

Although a failed power switch is not unknown, I only recall seeing two or three other cases of this. It's not common.
If WMP isn't working with the device having v2 firmware something is wrong. Unfortunately this can be difficult to fix, but take a look here in the Zen FAQ at Nomadness.net.
MediaSource won't detect the player if there's some issue e.g. WMP0 not detecting it. You can of course also try installing Zen Micro Media Explorer (Creative Zen Micro Media Explorer Web Update to be specific) which has MTP support.
Are you are presumably under guarantee, and as you bought from an Internet store, it's best to return it direct to Creative. Contact Creative Support to arrange this.

  • Creative Zen Micro - Is it Worth

I am looking to get my first MP3 player. I basically have 3 choices - an iRi'ver, an Ipod Nano -_-, or a Creative Zen Micro (5gb). I am hearing all kinds of problems with freezing and the headphone jack problem. My friend has had his a year and says his is fine. Should I be worried? Is it worth the risk? I am the most unluckiest person out there, solI know somethign will happen the first week.

    NO NO NO NO!!!!
I posted this in another thread :
If time is on your side TAKE IT BACK ASAP. Like you, I did plenty of research before putting out the money on an Mp3 player. I was impressed with what I read about the Zen micro so I went ahead and purchased 3. WHAT A MISTAKE!!!! I purchased them in May 2005. I've already sent player back twice for repair - and am awaiting the RMA label to send THE SAME player back again for replacement. Now the other 2 players are starting to act up. One won't hold a charge at all and when it does start it goes to the clean up screen and the other has started freezing up quite a lot. As far as I am concerned this product is a joke. I was patient with customer service, even after I was LIED to. I let them replace the product not once but twice and am actually going to see if I can't cancel the advanced RMA on the third replacement and try and get my money back on all three of the players through the replacement plans I bought on them. If I have to wait until May 2006 for the year manufacturers warranty to be up I'll stick them in a drawer and wait.
The funny (not ha ha funny, but strange funny) thing is that I bought the Zen Micro's because I didn't want to be like everyone else and buy iPods. Now I wish I had. I have a feeling I threw over $600.00 away. Not quite 7 months and almost $700.00 spent- $00.00 a month for nothing but problems - wow what a really bad investment!
If I thought Creative would buck up and do the honorable thing and give me my money back, I probably wouldn't have bothered to register and post here. But I really don't think they give a crap about me or any other poor sucker that fell for their line and bought this junk. Buyer Beware....

  • Creative Zen Micro zCover C

Hello. I was just wondering, could someone post pictures of, and tell me if the zCover case for the Creative Zen Micro has a screen protector? Please get pictures of the front, sides, top, bottem, and back, with the clip on and off. Thank you!

just received the Zen Micro Leather Case...very nice...as indicated on the product page, there is a protecti've vinyl display...
    http://us.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=23&subcategory=27&product=5
and the magnetic snap closure is a nice touch (puts no force on the Zen Micro to close like you would need for a snap button)...
question: there is an opening at the bottom of the case...possibly for a lanyard? anyone seen one? looks like it may loop/fit inside the battery cover...

  • Creative Zen Micro - Please He

I bought a Creative Zen Micro in January 2005 in Singapore. For a while it worked great, but then it just went faulty. Whenever I would try to turn it on it would freeze at the CREATIVE screen. Then after a while, I managed to fix that problem but then when I turned it on every time it would have to re-build the library, and then when it was re-built it went to one of my songs, and no buttons could be pressed, so the song couldn't be changed, or even start/stop, the volume couldn't change - even though no song would play and I definitely couldn't get back to the menu. I have been searching my Zen Micro for the reset button but can't find it. I am in Australia and I was just wondering if these problems could be fixed.

I have the same problem with my zen it freezes at the screen i was wondering how you fixed the problem.
