Creative ZEN MX Sort/organize music

#Creative ZEN MX Sort/organize music>Device: ZEN MX
Firmware: .04.0
So i got a ZEN MX, i was pretty happy with it... but now i'm starting to get very pissed off..
The way its sort his music on **bleep** "mp3 tags" i find it complete bullsh*t!
Why? because not all mp3's have tags, or tags that does not "fit" ( to the mp3 filename ) so it organizes the mp3's like sh*t anyway..
Now i completly removed all mp3 tags from all the mp3 tracks on my ZEN MX, and the player shows me no mp3 tracks anymore... ( accept for weird named folder with 500 piled up, **bleep**y sorted mp3's in it or something )
WTF is wrong with sorting on filename like any other device!?
If anyone got an idea or a fix, to make the ZEN MX sort his mp3 files decently, please tell me! Im desperate

I've spent a bit of time today, with Mp3tag, to try to understand what is going on with the MX sorting.
I used Mp3tag with the list of mp3s on my pc, (which was a copy of that on the zen) to add the relevent info. Some of my mp3s were just converts from clips from films etc, and had no relevent tag info. With this program, it is easy to add it.
It doesn't take too long to experiment to realise its advantages. (tag sort).
My gripe originally was the grouping of files - or tracks.
Especially if you had made your own compilation 'album'.
However, I have found you can do this easily in Mp3tag by grouping the files together, by filling their album field with 'Compliation ' or 'Various Artists' for example.
If you add the track number into the 'track' list aswell, you automatically order the track playing sequence.
It is really another way of creating a playlist but giving it an album reference of your own.
You can also add an album cover picture freely to any mp3. There is a built-in online database search for this, but i found it easier to search on the web, then used the wikipedia result for a source of album pictures. They happen to be around the right size too...
I then deleted the files on the zen and copied the whole lot across again, with the tag data in.
I now have some exclusi've albums and with cover pictures, along with all the others which have album covers.
I can only suggest giving it a go....
I can see it is the way forward for flexibility.

  • Creative Zen Xtra stopped loading music with 5.7g space left? H

Ive been using my 30g Creative zen xtra for close to two years loading ripped cds using mediasource. I have .20.8 firmware and have had no problem.Last night with zen showing 5.7 gis of space left I tried to load a few ripped cds as usual using mediasource and usb. The action went the same as usual with mediasorce telling me songs were being tranfered but when completed they were not in player. I tried it a few tims with different usb ports and cords but still songs not in player. The only thing Ive done different is last week I used player interface to delete one cd and it went fine.
My biggest fear is having to reload close to ten thousand songs back into my Zen Xtra if i loose them trying to get transferring to work again. If I use the scandisc feature would that cause my library to need to be reloaded?Perhaps i should just leave well enough alone and just use the zen as a player of all my music and not try to fix it. I know there is 5.7 gigs of space left,I have been encoding my songs at 96 bites so space should not be an issue.Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks [email protected]

Would clean up from recovery mode help solve this problem without loosing my music content?
Hard to say whether it will help but you can try. Cleanup shouldn't delete any of the content unless the player has gone completely haywire.

thank you so much i'v looked all over the internet and i could't hide any answers.

. There are MANY transmitters out there. I recommend searching back for past threads with recommendations.
    2. Yes, if they are in a suitable format.
    3. I already gave you a link in a previous question to a thread all about this. Please don't post duplicate questions.
    4. With iTunes you either need to burn the tracks to a CDRW, then convert to MP3/WMA, or use a program like JHymn to convert (Google JHymn).

I get really frustrated from this! how can i make this right!
I want the ZEN to show the albums like in WINDOWS XP! how hard can this be!!!

    Hi,
The Creative ZEN organizes songs according to the ID3tag of the music file, not by folders. If you want to arrange the music files in the order you want, please check and make sure that the music files are tagged properly. You may need a third-party tag editor to do this.

  • Zen Vision M: TERRIBLE music play and organization, starting to regret my purch

I used to have a Cowon iAudio, which you could plug into your computer and arrange music however you wanted to using windows explorer. SO EASY. you could make folders of anything you wanted, move songs around just by dragging and dropping, it was the best. so why did i buy a creative zen?
I have an album that has all these featured artists, so like, Zero7 featuring blah blah, Zer7 feature someone else, and so I now have 0 different artists for this one album. And of course, the player won't just play through the songs if you choose the artists, at the end of the song you have to click up a folder, pick the new artists on the album, and go to the next etc...How can I put all the songs into ONE ARTIST FOLDER? I've renamed the mp3 tag in media source, I've done it in WMP, and then synced, but then I have two versions of every song. And I still have 0 different folders, I just want all of them under the same artist? Why can't you drag and drop songs in Creative Media source? I mean, you can try it, but it doesn't do anything. please help?

Go to Music Library> Artists, scroll to HIGHLIGHT the artist you want (don't select) and press the 'play' button. If you are in Play mode> Shuffle then you will get a random selection of that artist.
The same goes for playing all tracks in a genre.

  • Creative Zen loading music problem

"Creative Zen loading music problem?I just started using a creative zen (DVP-FL000, 6Gb) player and i'm having?a few issues copying music onto it.
I have loaded the latest firmware (.2.03e) onto it and formatted it so was clean when i started loading my music on.
I'm using winamp on winxp to copy my music to the player, but occasionally i get tracks that wont copy to the player. Winamp just shows 'unspecified error'. If a file fails to copy it will never copy, no matter how many times i try. Somtimes its a random track, sometimes an entire album.
So i also tried copying the tracks that wont copy using windows explorer, it appears to copy but the file never appears on the device. The same is also true when i try it on my Windows7 laptop with explorer, it will appear to be copying but then part way through it will report that the device has stopped responding.
It only seems to happen with windows media files, all my mp3s copy fine. The files that dont copy probably represent about 0% of my music but play fine on all my other players.
sorry for the long post, just really scratching my head with this one!
    anyone have any ideas?

    solved
did a 'clean up' in the recovery menu, no problems transferring tracks since

  • I just reset my computer How do i get the music from my Creative Zen Touch onto my computer aga

Hi, I just had to reset my computer and i lost all my music... how do i get the music from my Creative Zen Touch onto my computer so i can listen to music again on my computer?

    itsVASH,
Basically you do the reverse of how you got it onto the player to begin with. You will open up mediasource, select the Zen Touch in the left hand source window, select PC Music Library on the right hand side. Select your songs and press the arrow pointing to the right.

  • How do I import music and picture files from my Creative Zen?

I have a Creative Zen media player, which uses Windows Media Player to operate. I have downloaded media player for Mac OS X, but cannot figure out how to import my music. On my old PC, when I plugged in my mp3 player, it automatically was recognized. Nothing happens when I plug it in to my iMac. What do I need to do?

I have bought a couple of Creative MuVo's for loved ones, and they, as removable USB thumb drives, work well with any OS. The Zen, on the other hand, doesn't have the design simplicity of the MuVo, which is why I didn't buy one. I think that they will pretty much only work with Windows.
One thing is for sure: If you plug in the Zen and it doesn't mount on the Desktop or in a Finder window, it isn't going to work with OS X--yet, at the same time, might possibly get corrupted or damaged when it fails to mount correctly and then you unplug it
P.S. Windows Media Player 7.1 for Mac does not have any support for portable players, and given the availability of Microsoft's free Flip4Mac plugin, is truly a worthless download. If this program has been installed, it would probably be best to delete it (and its preference files for that matter) to avoid potential conflicts with the up-to-date Flip4Mac plugin, which I assume you're going to install. Keep in mind that this plugin has nothing to do with adding support for portable players, but since we're on the subject of Windows Media Player, I thought it in good judgment to mention this.

  • Transfering music from Napster To Go to Creative Zen Sleek Photo probl

    Hello
I have a Creative Zen Sleek Photo with Napster To Go. I have Windows XP home edition. I can rip a CD to the hard dri've
of the computer and transfer music to the mp3 player, but I am receiving a message when trying to transfer music files
from Napster To Go. The message is the mp3 player will need an update to the firmware to work with Napster To Go.
The Zen Sleek Photo has the latest firmware. I had been able to transfer music from Napster To Go until recently.
Napster support referred me to Creative support but the Sleek Photo is past the warranty. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you.
    Bridget Ferrazzano

I had problems for the first month of my Napster membership (while I was still in the trial period). I nearly went elsewhere, but stayed with it. As soon as the trial period was over, everything worked perfectly. One suggestion is to use the same software for everything. Whether you use Creative media source, Napster's own software or media explorer or any of the others, stick with that one only. Do not give up and go to itunes. What a waste of money!?If you need to reload firmware or try another software, it's worth it.
I also had some issues getting help. Napster said the problem was with Creative and Creative said the problem was with Napster. Don't give up. Can you get ripped songs in?

  • Uploading music tracks from Creative Zen Micro to

<FONT face=Century>Is it possible to upload all my tracks from my Creative Zen Micro to my new PC? I had them all saved on my old one and can't seem to find on any support anywhere how to do this. I don't fancy ripping all my CDS all over again!
    <FONT face=Century>
    <FONT face=Century>

    Hi,
You could transfer the music content of your Zen Micro to your Zen V Plus without transferring it to the PC first. Do the following steps:
. Connect one player at a time in your PC (XP O/S) and make sure that both of the player is detected.
    2. If Windows have detected it, click on the option Open to View Files.
    3. Open up the Music folder of both players.
    4. From there, copy and paste whatever music tracks you would like to transfer from Zen Micro to Zen V Plus.
It's a good idea to have a back up of all your data and you could use a USB Flash dri've to store it all.
    Hope this hel
    ps.

  • Creative Zen Sleek Music Compatibil

Does anybody know if the creative zen sleek will work with Wal mart music downloads? And anyone who has this player..where do you get your music from? Thank you for your help

All current Creative MP3 players, except possibly (per a report or two) the very first batch of MicroPhotos released in Singapore, will play purchased WMA DRM files (such as Wal-Mart Music Downloads), whether PlaysForSure-compatible or not. (The MicroPhotos now on sale in the US support both purchased and subscription DRM.)

  • Brand New to Creative Zen Vision M - Basic Query Re Music Playback

Hi - bought this MP3 player 2nd hand having seen good reviews. I'm really a Samsung devotee, but couldn't seem to find anything from them in the 30gb range and my 8gb was getting too restrictive (I vaguely remember something about a court case with Apple ... did they stop them from making/selling new MP3 players, or something?). Anyway - now with a CZ and trying to get to grips with basic functions all over again (I'm nearly 50 and a female with no kids to quiz on this kind of thing - it's tough, but I'm getting there!). What I'm particularly keen to do are two things: 1) select a whole album to play, either in sequence or random tracks, and 2) select an artist and set the player to randomly play only their stuff from all the available tracks stored. These things were so simple to do with both the Samsungs I've had, but I'm completely stumped with my CZ (and, yes, I've read the downloadable manual). Hoping these things are possible ...

O God - 16 views so far and no one can answer? Doesn't bode well. Anyone want to buy a boxed Creative Zen Vision M in very good nick?

  • Creative Zen has stuttering music, syncs slowly at around 20%

Hi, I received a never used Creative Zen M Series 30 GB Mp3 player from my friend, and I'm having a few problems with it.
It seems to sync perfectly fine up until around 20% then each song takes several seconds (or even a minute) to sync, and at around 30% it even froze. Even worse, the player tends to stutter and skip over a few songs.
I upgraded the firmware but that didn't do anything...am I looking at defected parts?

Humm, i think you should power up your Zen and wait for it to become useable, then make backup's of all of your MP3's to your PC. I do this on a regular basis and ,92 tracks takes around 30 min to back up. A good idea is to "cleen up" the libary which can be acessed from recovery mode. Then wait for the proccdure to complete and reset the player. If the player still has a problem you may have to format it, but try this befor doing so. In settings on the main menu, select owner and type in your name that you may have used before. once you have set your name, switch off the player and then turn it back on. You might be suprised to find that all of your MP3's are back. Unfortunatly, if this advise is no help then your only hope is to reformat the Harddisk, then if the problem persists try reloding the firmware or update it (if possible)
