Creative Zen Radio Issue

Creative Zen Radio Issue?Hey,
I've had this creative zen player for some time now whilst im overall happy with my product, sadly there is all of a sudden a issue with it.
When i listen to the radio then lock it to just enjoy it - if i then unlock it, some times the screen locks up and stays black.
Whilst a reset solves this it doesn't stop it happening again.
But (this is a big but)...
The volume which i have on safely low - goes to compelte maximum with sound safety option off. It almost defeaned me when it occured and had ringing in my ears. I have booked an appointment with doctors as the ringing yes not really gone since.
Additionally im pretty sure my headphones are screwed as they were totally distorted when this occured which has probably ruined the quality of the speakers which were only a few months old.
So is this well known ? Cos im surprised no one has sued for loss of hearing if others have had this issue. I've yet to have my medical results on it - but would mostly prefer to have my mp3 fixed or replaced cos i cannot risk using it and having it do it again and make my hearing become damaged.
Thanks for reading.

Does the radio stop working right after lock? I locked the player right after choosing a radio station and the player continues to play. You might want to contact our Customer Support to see if they can help you further.

Hello! And thanks to everyone who'll answer to me...
I've bought my creative zen since a month and i'm experiencing a strange "mechanical" behaviour... Although it never has fallen or has taken any "hit", when i shake it in my hand i notice that something, inside, moves!it looks like it's an object located behind the display...However, it seems not to worse the functionality of the player but....what's this?
    Sorry for my english

Well I received my reply from creative and I must say it feels like the typical reply.
Thank you for contacting us at Creative Technical Support.
If I understood your email correctly, you are having some issues with
your Zen 6Gb. The screen is cracked and I'm really sorry for what
    happened.
With regards to your enquiry,a cracked LCD typically due to physical
damage and isn't covered by our warranty. Although the ZEN is a very
durable product, if not protected properly, the LCD can be broken if
    enough pressure is applied.

  • Creative ZEN connection issues

    2 problems...
First, running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. Trying to do the firmware update, but the updater is showing that the device is not attached even though it is showing as attached and I can access it without a problem. It is on a known good working usb port as ) I just had my external hard dri've running on it just fine, 2) I can see the device showing as a portable device when I pull up the Computer screen.
Second problem... My wife hates the Creative Centrale software and wants to go back to the old software that came with the device. I'm running a VMWare dri've image of XP SP3 and the system cannot get a driver loaded for the Zen. I downloaded the driver from inside the vm client, but it can't install because it's saying that the device is not connected. I know that it IS connected because Device Manager shows that it's connected but does not have a driver attached.
Please help me maintain the domestic bliss and get this situation resolved!

What o/s are you using XP or Vista, but first look in the update section for a new firmware update, and read the instructions on how to update. This solved all my problems and made the player much better!

  • Creative Zen Xtra - Issues with file transfers

Hi, I've had my Zen Xtra for about 4 or 5 months now. It's been fine up until recently. When I start Nomad Explorer, it would only allow me to transfer maybe 3 or 4 albums before producing an error message along the lines of "This operation cannot continue due to an unknown error". Gradually, the number of albums would decrease until, last night it wouldn't even let me transfer a single file.
So I restarted my computer which normally helps, but when I plugged in the player this time nothing happened. The screen on the player lit up but instead of displaying the little icon that shows it's plugged in, nothing happened. In Nomad Explorer it merely shows "Not Connected" and in Media Source it doesn't even show up.
I deleted and reinstalled all of the drivers, software and that hasn't helped. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Thanks for any help, Matt.

Have you tried a disk cleanup? See the FAQ Part post.
These file transfer issues are indicati've of USB problems, but there's a link in the FAQ Part post with lots of information about troubleshooting connection problems.

But I'm having a problem when I try to transfer wma files I've downloaded from sites like Tesco.com. When I try to put them on the Zen using the Zen Media Explorer it comes up with "unknown error". If I try to drag and drop or copy files using the browse media interface I get a message telling me I need to install a security update. I'm running Windows Media Player 0 and it's telling me there are no updates to install.
    Any ideas?

The files might be DRM protected. To check just right click on the file and select Properties. It will tell you if they are protected or not. If so you won't be able to import them.

  • Serious Issues with Creative Zen 32GB

I have been a loyal creative user for at least the past 6 years.
In?July I purchased the Creative Zen 32GB device.
At first it was fine, now it's a total mess.
I looked to try and find information on whether other folks are having the same issues as I am, but I can't seem to find anything.
I have Windows Vista 32bit on my computer. I recently upgraded to firmware .2.03 and that just made things worse.
As soon as I purchased the player I have never had the correct time on the device. I change it constantly and when I turn it back on after a day of not using it, the clock is wrong again.
I use Rhapsody to download music to the device. I originally had no issues, but lately, I can't transfer songs to the device from Rhapsody, playlists are deleting on their own.
After upgrading to the new firmware, for every artist I have that contains THE, for example, The Beatles, The Killers, the songs are listed twice on my player as Beatles, The and The Beatles. When I try to delete the duplicate it takes action as if it is deleting, but when I turn the player back on the duplicates are still there.
If I try to delete a song from the device, it takes action as if it is deleting, but the songs are still there when I turn the player on again.
There are duplicates and I do not know how they got there.
When I plug the device into my computer to transfer files or update songs, it makes my computer lock up.
Anyone have these issues? I have tried to restore, but that does not work. HELP!

  • Transferring issues w/Creative Zen X-Fi 16gb w/ vista system

<Transferring issues w/Creative Zen X-Fi 6gb w/ vista system I am not computer savvy and do not understand all that computer talk. I can use a pc once the systems are set for me to use. But getting things like this running I have a hard time with. I would greatly appreciate some help.
I need someone to help me with a few things. I have a Gateway desktop pc with vista operating system. I bought a creative zen x-fi 6gb and from day one I have had problems. I think I finally got the firmware to update.
But I am still having a heck of a?time transferring music from centrale to the player. I can only do one song at a time and then after a little while of doing that (like 2 albums later) it stops working. I am doing this using the usb cable that is provided. I don't have the wireless part hooked up yet.
I also had to drag and drop my music into the centrale instead of it updating on its own. How do I fix that?
How do you make a playlist right on the player?
How do I get my calendar info from my yahoo calendar onto the Zen?
I have gone to the creative support site to see what downloads were out there. And I think I am up to date.
    Thanks for the help.

I will never buy another creative product again, probably most of you wont either. But I have already paid the money for this product so I plan on using it until the battery dies on me. • Serious Issues with Creative Zen Vision M 3

This all started when I was fast forwarding through a track and it freezes. So, I did reset and it's in recovery mode, whereas usually it will just restart again. So I tried turining it on and off and was still stuck in Recovery Mode. Tried plugging it into the computer, the computer doesn't recognize it. I did everything the website told me to, but my computer will not recognize that it is plugged into the usb. When I have it docked it will not let me do anything at all. I tried to clean it up and it stays in "scan disk" for hours,I tried to format it, knowing it would erase everything but hoping it would fix, and when I tried to format it, I got a message saying "harddisk problem", when I rebbot it simply reboots back to Recovery Mode and the other option I have is reload firmware, and it prompts me to start updating firmware, but my computer won't even recognize that it is plugged in , in the first place, so I am at a loss with what to do next. The best help Creative can give me is email support. As most of you probably have found out there is no technical support phone number, only for returns/exchanges. I am using Windows Vista if that makes a difference, which it probably does since nothing seems to work on Winows Vista, and when I look at My computer, it shows that the device is present, but yet I can't access it through any media source or when trying to install this firmware? garbage. Any help would be extremely appreciated. Thank you in advance. Sarah

  • Creative Zen X-Fi 2 - Some Issues with Media libary

    3Creative Zen X-Fi 2 - Some Issues with Media libary?Hello Creative Forums,
I own the creative zen x-fi 2 for a few days and until now I haven't been very happy to own this product, it made more trouble than actually played my music.
My guess is that once I'm used to the functionality, I'll enjoy it a bit better.
    My biggest problem right now:
I own the 8GB version and since it's way too small for my fav music collection, I bought a 32 GB micro SD card right with the player.
My music is completely on the micro SD, the internal space is used for other things like files, pictures, apps n stuff.
Now, every time I start the player, my music isn't listed under "music", instead I have to browse to micro SD and find my music there.
Fair enough, not very intuiti've but at least I know where to find it.
Everytime I connect to my micro SD, the player asks me for some kind of "should I generate the media libary?" and I click "yes". This takes a lot of time, after a few minutes I can listen to my music, all is well.
    BUT:
If I turn off the player and turn it on later, I have to re-generate the media libary over and over again. This is extremely annoying.
Then I discovered in the manual how importing music works.
I just tried clicking the "import all" button in my micro SD menu, then it processed some stuff, after that I checked "New Folder" and then it started transferring or whatsoever.
This was extremely slow and it ran for 3 hours just to get to file 809/4702. The battery power went down and I plugged it into the usb bus, after this the player froze and it's at 809/4702 ever since.
    My question is:
How can I import my music into the music libary without moving the music files anywhere (they should remain @ micro SD) ? I checked the manual and tried it but had no success yet.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Unfortunately (for your intended usage case) importing the music copies it from the card to the player.

  • Creative Zen Vision:M FM Radio Completely Disappeared!! (Reinstalling firmware doesn't hel

I turned on my Creative Zen Vision: M, and the FM Radio wasn't there. It just simply disappeared; it's not listed on the Main Menu, nor is it listed as an option from "Configure Menu". This has nothing to do with a new Firmware update that removes the?radio; my player was not connected to?my computer. I have had my player since July of 2006, so it's obviously too late to return it. I've looked around on the forum and many other people have had the same problem, but the only solution has been to reinstall/upgrade the firmware. This doesn't solve the problem. I've tried everything on the recovery menu--formatting, rebooting, cleaning disk, etc, but nothing has worked. I've also contacted Customer Support, but from what I've heard, it's probably not going to help. Has ANYONE been able to solve this problem? It's really frustrating that so many people have this problem and nothing has worked.

    Oh, right, sorry.
"OS Name: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
    Version: 5..2600 Service Pack 2 Build 2600"
Though currently, I'm installing Windows XP Service Pack 3 via Windows Automatic Updates.
    WMP Version: .0.572.5230
Should I uninstall WMP entirely to eliminate it as a possible factor?
(I have Winamp so I don't really need WMP.)
Are you saying that once I rollback my WMP to WMP0, my computer will be capable of reading my Zen & thus, allowing me to download the firmware and restoring it's previous condition (minus the contents-music, video, pictures, etc.)
Also, I tried to see if my Zen would try to connect to my laptop - I uninstalled the Zen program on it before connecting it, to see if anything would come up, allowing me to do anything, etc. But no, it just said "My Zen" but I couldn't do anything with that. And then I installed all of the software on the Creative Installation CD. After all of that, apparently my computer acknowledges that a device is connected via USB because it gives me an option as to what to do with it - open it, play it with wmp, explore, etc. The problem though was that the Creative program itself wouldn't acknowledge that it was connected. So I still had the "The player is not connected."
Just thought this might make a difference -
I also was looking for some kind of repair shops or sites that would be capable of repairing my Zen - the only thing I came across was http://www.zenrepair.com/Zen/index.jsp - does anyone know anything about this site? If it's reliable, etc. (Just a back up option in case this situation isn't solveable by other Zen peers.)
Also, thanks again for any help, effort, attempt, etc.

  • Firmeware issues with Creative Zen Vision:M

My creative Zen vision m 30g had started playing up, songs were being played super fast, or not being played at all, it would also go to FM radio randomly. The first step I took was to format the player and put my music back on, but the problem persisted. I then decided to do a clean up, but again the problem still persisted. I finally decided to reload the firmware, I first downloaded from the site, but when it had got to the final stages it took me to connect my player, but my player was actually connected!
I then downloaded the Creative MP3 player recovery tool, it detected that I had a creative vision Zen me but it told me in the final stages again that my player wasn't connected. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Topstarxx,
It would be advisable to get in touch with support so that they can help you with this.

  • Creative Zen Micro - FM Radio Bro

Hi, I want to explain my bad experience with a Creative Zen Micro 6GB.
I bought it in late December 2005, and until now always worked fine.
Suddently, some days ago the Radio FM men? disappeared, as described in some other messages here in the forum. I've tryed to reset it, and to upgrade firmware again.
The upgrade procedure went fine, the reset/disk cleanup/format ecc. from Recovery Men? went fine too, but as final result the FM Radio doesn't work anymore at all.
Sometimes FM Radio men? appers, sometimes not (yes, randomly); moreover, when I try to enter FM Radio men?, the Creative Zen locks
I think I can't do anything else more, I already contacted Creative for support.
I already had nice experience with Creative support, so I don't worry too much; I'm just annoyed that a brand new product broke so soon...

just a straight stereo patch cable (like with the headphone jack on both ends)...from your player to the line in jack on your sound card. they are like 5 bucks at radio shackMessage Edited by flyer608 on 02-07-2005 2:50 AM

  • Creative Zen - video converter issues

I've been trying to convert AVIs and MKVs to view on my Creative Zen and keep running into a problem.
No matter what settings I seem to use on any video converter, my player refuses to play the resulting WMV.
I am encoding to as close as possible to the required specifications, making sure no bitrate, frame rate, or resolution is too high for the player, but nothing seems to want to play.
Exactly what settings are required to convert a file to work on a Creative Zen?
I know the Creative Video Converter works, but the time taken to convert each file is far too long.

    Hi there:
    No worries!
Here I would like to offer you my opinions.
First, we should have a basic information of Creative Zen. In terms of its formats supported, it generally supports AVI, WMV, MPG, MPEG-, MPEG-2 and MP4. But there are still some users feeback that it can not perfectly accept AVI. Okay, based on my own experience using video converters, I am sure that Moyea Video Converter got via Google can definitely help solve the problem.
Step one: free download Moyea Video Converter and install it.
Step two: load AVI and MKV files to this program, select output format as "Creative Zen-Zen Player Video (.*WMV)" from pull-down menu of Format, and then locate the destination folder.
Step three:expand "Settings" button to enter the Profile section, in which you can easily modify resolution, Codec, size, sample rate, channels, and audio streams. (If you just want keep the original settings, you can skip this Step and directly continue Step four.)
Step four:click "Convert" button on the main interface to begin with the conversion.
Step four: Once the conversion above is completed, you can drag or put the converted files to ur Creative Zen or other portable devices for playback or entertainment.
By the way, Moyea Video Converter is much easier and faster to operate. Moreover, it applies Dolby TrueHD audio technology, which can enhance the output audio effects.
