Creative Zen Sleek - "No License To Play This Fi

Had the Creative Zen Sleek 20gb photo for a few months now, and all of a sudden a lot of the downloaded tracks from MSN music are starting to say 'No License to play this file' when it played ok before. Is there any solution to fix this?
Chris

OK, although it's NOT for a Zen Sleek (actually, a Zen Touch 20GB), I'm having a similar problem. OK, I'm running a Windows XP SP2, PlaysForSure-verified computer. I also have Windows Media Player Beta 2 as well. Usually, when I put new songs onto my Zen Touch, I always use "Zen Touch Media Explorer (for PlaysForSure devices)". So when I plugged in my Zen Touch, a "Portable Device" window (which is, for me, a normal thing) opened up. However, instead of clicking "take no action," I mistakenly clicked the option for it to sync my songs via WMP B2. Once I did that, and synced some songs, I noticed that ALL of my CD-based songs on my Zen Touch had (and still is) lost its license to play that song. Now, I'm NOT subscribed to any music-based music provider (Napster, iTunes, MSN Music, etc.), so that's not the problem. Also, these CD-based songs have been running FINE since I synced them into my Zen Touch before this incident (some this songs for more than a YEAR). Is there any advice for me to fix this problem?

  • Creative Zen Sleek and the Now Playing-part of the firmw

    Hi,
this week I got my Creative Zen Sleek. I'm very satisfied, except for one thing - the Now Playing-part of the firmware (the list with all the songs queued up). In the old Nomad Jukebox Zen firmware, the list was divided by artist or album name. On the Zen Sleek, however, the list is just going on without even showing which songs belonging to which album etc.
This is really annoying me - would it be possible to fix this, or at least consider the possibility for this to be integrated in the next firmware upgrade?
    Sincerely

& Putting the X-Fi into Recovery Mode and selecting clean up seemed to fix the problem, but it does still come up randomly.
The clean up puts the player menus back to their defaults though... any chance that in a future fix for the player, this wouldn't occur?

  • "no license to play this track" zen mi

i was listening to a song a few minutes ago and i pressed the next button and my zen mirco frozed. so i took out the battery and put it back in....well now every time a song that i've downloaded from napster (i have the napster to go plan...) it says "no license to play this track"
has this happended to anyone else? how can i fix it's

Synch with the PC again. The songs you have from Napster To Go are based on a subscription model, as long as you keep paying the subscription then the songs will work.
If do still have an acti've subscription, it does mean the protection on the tracks needs to verify that.

  • Creative Zen Sleek Music Compatibil

Does anybody know if the creative zen sleek will work with Wal mart music downloads? And anyone who has this player..where do you get your music from? Thank you for your help

All current Creative MP3 players, except possibly (per a report or two) the very first batch of MicroPhotos released in Singapore, will play purchased WMA DRM files (such as Wal-Mart Music Downloads), whether PlaysForSure-compatible or not. (The MicroPhotos now on sale in the US support both purchased and subscription DRM.)

  • Creative Zen Sleek Photo Firmware Download does not recognize my pla

My Creative Zen Sleek Photo recently froze up. After restarting it, the "firmware problem" screen popped up. After reading up on it a bit, I decided to first clean, then reformat, and then reload the firmware. Everything went smoothly until I went to load the firmware back onto my Zen.
For whatever reason a screen pops up that says that my device is not connected to the computer, when it, in fact, is. I have tried several things including uninstalling Windows Media Player and repeatedly cleaning and reformatting in hopes that it would recognize it.
I have had no prior problems with the computer recognizing the device and I have loaded quite a bit of music onto it through this computer. Can anyone please help? Any more ideas? Anything will be helpful and appreciated. Thanks?

  • "No License to Play this track" messages

2"No License to Play this track" messages? There seems to be a lot of "no license to play this track" error messages here, but none seem to match mine. I use my ZEN MX for audible books.
I transferred the files numerous ways from Netlibrary and they will play using Windows Media Player from my ZEN. But not on the ZEN directly.
I've updated the firmware, and reloaded the files already.
    any help?

I had this problem when I downloaded NetLibrary files using Firefox browser. NetLibrary also has very good tech support. The problem was fixed by downloading the file using Internet Explorer

Hey, ZVM_00, I think these are what you're looking for. I'm not sure which one you want to buy but here they are:

    http://us.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=3&subcategory=264&product=505 0
As far as your problem with connecting, I can't really help you there. It COULD be your computer but I remember someone telling me to use a different USB port than you're already using. If it's plugged into the front of your computer, try using a back port. That worked for me (for a while anyway). Good luck to you two.
And try what I said, it may work!

  • My computer don't identyfi my Creative Zen Sleek

I have installed Gnomad2, but the player isn't recognized.
    Dmesg:
usb 4-3: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 4
usb 4-3: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice

you probably need the udev rule
to have gnomad2 know where to look
that is unless it is its a mass storage device in which case you may need this stuff for udev rule
    http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Usi … _udev_rule
if you have a sata or scsi drive it will be seen as /dev/sdX  if your device is a mass storage device it will come up as /dev/sdY
oh here i did your homework
    /etc/udev/rules.d/00-zen.rules
    # Creative Zen Sleek
    SYSFS{idVendor}=="041e", SYSFS{idProduct}=="4137", SYMLINK+="njb-%n", MODE="666"
try it if it dont work than remove it
a little googling would have done it though

  • "No license to play this tra

Hi all. I'm new here and was looking for my problem but can't find it so I'm starting a new thread. Anyway, my son has the Zen Micro, purchased on 9/8. This morning all of a sudden when he goes to play it, there's a message that says "No license to play this track" and the songs won't play. We got free songs with Napster-To-Go and it seems like these are the songs we get the msg for. It doesn't show up for songs we copied from CDs. Does anybody else have this problem?

Napster To Go songs are licensed for 30 days only. If you keep a monthly subscription with the Napster To Go service then just connect your player to your computer and resync it with Napster so that it can update the license on those songs for another 30 days. If you stopped your subscription then those songs will simply not work anymore.
This is how subscription music is. You are pretty much renting the music, the songs are not yours to keep. You need to keep an acti've subscription with that music service if you want to keep your songs.

  • Creative Zen Sleek Photo & Windows Vi

Since all new computers come standard with Vista, I can't download any of my Creative software because it is not compatible with Vista. Is there any kind of?download update or file that I can get so that I can make the software compatible and install it's

You do not need to install the software on the disc. The driver is nati've to the Vista OS. Windows Media Player can Sync to the player rip cds, ect.

  • Transfering music from Napster To Go to Creative Zen Sleek Photo probl

    Hello
I have a Creative Zen Sleek Photo with Napster To Go. I have Windows XP home edition. I can rip a CD to the hard dri've
of the computer and transfer music to the mp3 player, but I am receiving a message when trying to transfer music files
from Napster To Go. The message is the mp3 player will need an update to the firmware to work with Napster To Go.
The Zen Sleek Photo has the latest firmware. I had been able to transfer music from Napster To Go until recently.
Napster support referred me to Creative support but the Sleek Photo is past the warranty. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you.
    Bridget Ferrazzano

I had problems for the first month of my Napster membership (while I was still in the trial period). I nearly went elsewhere, but stayed with it. As soon as the trial period was over, everything worked perfectly. One suggestion is to use the same software for everything. Whether you use Creative media source, Napster's own software or media explorer or any of the others, stick with that one only. Do not give up and go to itunes. What a waste of money!?If you need to reload firmware or try another software, it's worth it.
I also had some issues getting help. Napster said the problem was with Creative and Creative said the problem was with Napster. Don't give up. Can you get ripped songs in?

  • My brothers creative zen micro always says donot have a license to play this tr

I use Rhapsody to go for the music.. and all the time it just freezes, then rebuilds the library, then everysong that i have on there says i dont have a license to play the track.. is this a rhapsody problem.. or my zen micro has a problem ?

sorry, just to back from vacation
i got a few songs from Music Match, and most from Napster, I don't have the "to go" deal with either of them... I just pay as i go, 99 cents per song, so I'm kinda irked cuz I've paid pretty much 0 bucks for these songs n they won't play. I hardly use Music Match anymore and haven't gotten any notices from Napster to update my license...

  • Creative Zen sleek, folder based explori

Ok, long story short. i upgraded my Zen sleeks firmware, and for my disapoint, i founded out that whit the new firmware i cant use the "Creative media explorer", and im "forced" to use ether the crappy Mediaplayer 0, or the the "drag and drop" function.
The problem is, for example i got folder "AC/DC" where i have lot of ACDC music, some of them are named by only the songs name, some of them are like "AC/DC - Highway to hell", some of them "ACDC - ****" and some of them "AC-DC - ****", now when i transfer that folder to my player, i got artist "AC/DC", "ACDC" "AC-DC" etc etc. Now, is there anyway to get rid of that "Artist, album" etc based browsing, and start to browse my music by folders?
Or, is there anyway to get the new firmware to work whit the creative media explorer? Since whit media explorer it was possible to convert folder names to "Artist names".
    thanks. Carl

Cat, this firmware is also available on the Creative US site; though the US Sleek was MTP/Janus out of the box (and its specs require WinXP), the specs didn't show Audible support. So there's definitely also a version of this firmware available that's not subject to EU volume-limiting regulations.
With the similarities between the Sleek and the Micro (similar controls, possibly similar chipsets?), does this indicate that an Audible upgrade is pending for Micro firmware (.x and/or 2.x)? And if so, will the 2.x upgrade also include the battery fixes in ..02?
