Creative Zen stuck on blank screen!!!

I turn on my Creative Zen and it just sits on a dark screen. It doesn't turn off when I flick the switch to off. I have to hit reset to turn it off. Then I turn it on and it does the same thing, I hit reset does the same thing again or sometimes for a brief second the message Firmware Problem shows up then a dark screen or it justs stays on the creative for both to turn the Zen off I have to hit reset. Someone help me please. The online premade solutions thing doesn't work and I'm currently waiting for an e-mail back from the Creative Support. Someone Please Help Me!!!!!

I have had this Zen for almost 2 years now and have never had a problem with it other then it freezed while trying to play music once did. Rebooted and it worked fine ever since til this problem came up. They told me to reboot in Recovery mode the is I was only able to get to it by draining my battery and plug it into an outlet with my wall charger. I did the cleanup and reboot got to regular operation of my zen it showed my battery was pretty much full I unplugged to see if all my stuff was still on it. The menu stayed for a brief second then went to the same usual stuff, dark, blank screen. And I haven't been able to it again since exceot one more time and I thought trying to reload the firmware, I did that on Recovery mode plugged it into the computer to put firmware back on but the computer recognizes the Zen as not connected. So I can't even do that so I sent them a reply back just now so I waiting to for a reply back to see what the next solution is. I just hope this can be solved without having to send it in for servicing or ending up having to buy a new one because I'm not sure if its still under warranty, I don't know how long the warranty is good for. Does anyone know? Also any ideas of what I can try while I wait for a reply?

  • Zen V Plus -- Blank Screen

Old lady in her 70's needs help!? My Zen V Plus MP3 Player has been losing the light on its screen, and it is now totally blank. Tried to reboot as per instructions - difficult when you cannot read any text - and now the machine will not turn off. Because I cannot see anything I am left with a totally blank screen but the radio is going loud and strong.
Creative suggested a firmware reload. Waited in vain for more than an hour and a half for it to finalise, and gave up. May get an ipod instead!!
Thanks - any help to the old lady appreciated.

What happened to the player now? Is it completely dead after trying to reload the firmware?

  • Why does Creative Cloud have a blank screen while I'm installing photoshop?

So, I've been trying to install photoshop and creative cloud is completely blank. The site says it's installing but I'm not sure if that's really the case? Also, how do I fix the fact that Creative Cloud is blank? Is it permanent? I haven't taken any steps because I don't know what I'm doing at the moment.

  • Creative zen menu question/cracked screen

    Hello
    I have an unusual request.
    <img alt="Cracked screen" src="http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/644/pa50006.jpg" height="600" width="800[/img]
Firstly I must say that my lovely creative zen's screen is cracked :< some guy kicked me on the side of my leg where zen was in my pocket and then I realized the screen got cracked.
The thing is, it still works quite well (despite flawly "back" button which I have to press several times to get it to work) and I keep listening to music with it, new screen costs more than an used zen so I will stick with it for some more time before upgrading to new model.
As the screen is cracked I have to navigate through the menu tbe way I remember, so the question, or request is as follows:
. I would like to know if when I'm in the main menu, if I press UP several times, will it stop on the st position in the menu or the selection will continue from the bottom towards first position again ? (like looped selection)
    2. I have brightness set to 00%, would someone be so kind giving me instructions how to get to the settings/brightness and set it back to minimum 0%? Like down 5x, OK, down3x, OK, left etc.
    3. I'd like also instructions how to play all the tracks, so far I remember how to play an album, It's like 3x or 4x down, OK, 3x down, OK, OK, play. Whenever I put new tracks the playlist gets updated and I can't play them like that with the play button :<.
I'd be really gratefull for the information provided.

    You're SOL dude...
I've had a cracked screen for a month now and have tried everything...
    -tried to return it-too late
-tried to buy a replacement screen-can't find them anywhere and they're made in singapore
-tried to use an ipod video screen-doesn't fit
-So you gotta send it back to creative-cost: ~$20.00 and no player for a few weeks
Good luck, you're taking it better than I did

  • Stuck in blank screen trying to wake from sleep -- Help?

I have had this happen twice now. I take the phone out of my pocket, hit the home button and it wont come up to let me take the lock off. The screen just stays in the same blank state. The first time it happened I think I got lucky and it just came back on let me shut it down. The 2nd time last night, it happened for MUCH longer time and the screen reappeared when an incoming call came and has been fine since.
Any idea on the cause of this? How can I report it to Apple/Att just to get it on record? This is a 3g btw and on 2.0.1 (just waiting for 2.1 Friday).
    Thanks!
    Dackz

Light sensor never takes the screen to black, and proximity sensor only works when on a call.
This does not seem like a reasonable cause.
My wife's phone did this just this morning.
Screen black except for line with time across the top.
Holding down home button did nothing.
    Sleep switch did nothing.
Had to hold both down till apple appeared.

  • After installing Windows Server 2008 DATA CENTER stuck on blank screen and command prompt window

After a new fresh install of Windows Server 2008 Data Center I get this solid blue screen with a comand prompt window showing (user\Administrator) I have limited use of the commands, am able to bring up the task manager by CTL Del and perform limited functions.  I was able to run the same software on this machine before, nothing has changed.  The way I ran the software on it before was from an image I deployed to it,(not from a fresh install).  The old image timed out and I could not rearm it, that is why I did a fresh install. I tried to use gpedit.msc but the command did not work.

You may be using Windows with limited functionality as the previous version expired. Did you re-format the drive/partition before you did the "fresh" install if not Windows probably kept the old install information so knew that it was expired previously. Either activate Windows (try typing slui.exe and filling in the product key and activate - then restart the machine) or re-format the drive/partition that Windows is on and re-install Windows again.

  • Creative Zen ver1.21.01 - Screen doesn't always turn off when in lock m

The screen doesn't always turn off when we lock the player.
It's a random problem, maybe related to some screens only.
When playing songs, if we lock the player, the screen fades out a little bit and will turn off automatically after 2-3 seconds. But in some screens (try the System/Information by example), it always remains in faded-mode, even after more than 5 minutes.
    Thanks.

It dit it again yesterday, when my album finished to play (in lock mode), I opened my case and discovered that the screen was still on.
Maybe something in the process of the playing makes the the screen turn on automatically. I usually?use playlists, maybe the screen turns on when the?play stop?
I know that's not a very important issue, but for me it's "buggy"!
I have my player since week and it froze 3-4 time, so yes I had the "chance" to use the wonderfull reset button!

  • Creative Zen menu pictures

Hi, my creative zen has the white screen (and has had it for a while), but thats not the problem. I can navigate the player's music using the menu just from memory, but my player is stuck on shuffle and I don't remember the menu set out to get the play mode back to normal.
It would be a great help if someone could post a picture of the options menu for the music section (I think that's where the play mode was). Or at least give a fairly detailed way of "Press up 3 times, press the options menu button, go down twice .etc".
If you still don't understand my problem, pretend I'm a blind man who's trying to get his Creative Zen play mode to normal.
    Thanks in advance

It may be possible, but it'll be very difficult. On most Creative players I think the settings file is kept in a hidden partition along with the OS files. You can probably get to this by poking around at some very low level in the OS, but I wouldn't want to guess as to the exact procedure.

  • Will a new MotherBoard cure Blank Screen with blinking cursor?

Stuck with Blank Screen with blinking cursor; ESC key couldn’t bring up Startup Menu; OS is not loading
Product Name: HP G62 237 CA Notebook PC
    Short description of the problems:
--- Press ESC key couldn’t bring up Startup Menu when booting up
--- Blank screen with blinking cursor thereafter
--- Stuck here forever and OS is not loading
    DETAILED INFORMATION:
    Product Name and Operating System:
Model: HP G62 237 CA Notebook PC
    O/S: Pre-loaded with Win 7 Home Prem
    Processor: Pent. Dual-Core CPU T4500 2.30GHz
    Memory: 4GB
    BIOS Ver. (Insyde): F.17
    System BOARD ID: 1484
    Product #: WQ767UA#ABC
    Product Config ID: 049C110000202710000020000
    Problem History:
--- Used to have frequent BSOD (got fixed later because of faulty RAM that I suspected)
    --- Window couldn’t be loaded
--- Window Repair and HP Recovery were tried but not functioning
--- OEM Hard Drive was then removed & formatted few times by using other computer
--- Hard Drive was then tested by other computer; it can be installed Win XP & Win 7
--- So, Hard Drive was eliminated from the suspect list
--- Replaced with other good RAM from other computers & put back the OEM Hard Drive to my HP G62; everything worked fine, such as: able to reinstall Win 7; listening to music files; got Internet to download latest BIOS from HP support site; connected to my 42 inched TV as my monitor; and even smoothly updated the BIOS from v.17 to v.37!
--- Also, able to receive Window Updates from the Internet; and seemed that all problems were nicely solved
--- Once I believe my system got stabilized; I went back to test the 2 supposedly problematic RAM to see whether they were both faulty or not, then the whole thing has turned around! Completely screwed me up until this moment …
--- After put back the problematic RAM, Window couldn’t be loaded …
--- With a few error messages… such as,
    --- The file is possibly corrupt. The file header checksum does not match the computed checksum;
--- After the next reboot… an unexpected screen message showed up:
Intel ® Cantiga PCI Accelerated SVGA BIOS

--- After that, OS was not loading …
--- Press ESC key couldn’t bring up the Startup Menu during boot up
--- Blank screen with blinking cursor thereafter and seems stuck here forever
    Procedures performed for troubleshooting:
Tried hard reset for more than 5 times (removed battery, AC adapter disconnected and then hold down the Power button for more than 60 secs) and tried reseating memory too; same result with Blank Screen with blinking cursor after each reboot.
Connected to an external monitor [Fn + F4/F5] to see whether there was any display, nothing has showed on the external monitor, it seemed that no connection established between the two.
Finally, took the long journey to follow the Service and Maintenance Guide of HP G62 to remove the CMOS battery for well over 15 minutes and put it back. But the result was again disappointed. Tried 4 times already. The latest error message is:
The CMOS checksum is invalid. The CMOS will be reset to the default configuration and will be rebooted. Please check your BIOS Setup options to see if they change.
    CMOS Reset (502)
    ENTER – Reboot the system
After this message, the same Blank Screen with blinking cursor came back. And pressing the ESC key couldn’t bring up Startup Menu when booting up …
Note: the fan is still running; the Power button is functioning but seems stuck here forever!
I’ve already carefully read this HP Support document titled “HP BIOS Application Selected is Corrupt or Missing”:
    http://h10010.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&docname=c01443485#N144
If really is the BIOS problems, then I will have the difficulties of updating a Window-based BIOS when I couldn’t even load Window!
(Note: Boot from USB has no point because right now I couldn’t change the boot sequence because the various “Startup Menu” options are not showing up!)
Secondly, I am still stuck with the Blank Screen with a blinking cursor after I passed the first screen of “Press the ESC key for Startup Menu” when re-booted again!
Thirdly, I have formatted my Hard Drive more than 3 times during the last few days for testing; I don’t have the OEM pre-loaded Win 7 with me anyone … and I don’t think I have the UEFI installed previously on my system. I did try hold down the Win Key + B with the most updated BIOS in the attached USB …, it came back with the same blank screen with a cursor blinking after reboot.
Note: the Blank Screen I’m experiencing right now is not completely black, in fact, there is background light from behind the screen and on each reboot, I can see the HP logo and the left corner message of: “Press ESC key for Startup Menu” … So, I suppose that my computer screen is not physically broken at least.
    Requests:
Please explain to me that what are the problem areas and the root causes if is possible?
What steps or other tests can be done to make it work again?
Do you think replacing the entire MotherBoard can cure the Blank Screen with blinking cursor?
[Warranty: expired! I am the original purchaser & the end-user of this HP G62; acquired 2 years ago directly from a trustworthy source: staples (in Canada). Would HP Support still willing to service it for an extra charge?]
Thanks in advance for any suggestion and idea!

  • Macbook Pro Mid 2014 totally blank screen

When I power on, my macbook pro does nothing (blank screen) after the sound.
    System:
    -Macbook Pro Retina 13' (Mid 2014) 256GB SSD, i5, 8Gig RAM
    -Yosemite (10.10)
I tried to install Windows 8.1 using bootcamp assistant on Yosemite.
After installing Windows 8.1, it asked me to restart.
When I restarted it stuck on blank screen. I've heard the startup noise but nothing happened.
I tried many startup key combinations such as; Command(Alt), cmd+R,cmd+V,T, but the screen is always blank.
Although the screen light is, on the screen is totally blank.
I did resetting SMC, and also I did cmd+alt+P+R (I've heard 4 times startup sound) but the screen is always blank.
Nothing happens. I can only shut down by pressing the power button for 4 seconds.
As a result when I power on, I hear the sound but nothing happens. Nothing on the screen.
    What I did before was;
0- The system is a brand new mac. I bought it 1 week ago.
1- I tried to install windows 8.1 using bootcamp. But failed. Because windows installer gave me an error that windows can not be installed on GPT partition.(I have also MacBook Air and MacMini with bootcamp Windows 8.1 working fine.)
2- Then I rebooted using Alt key then booted to MacOSX and deleted the windows part and many combinations. But failed. The error was always the same GPT error.
3- I reinstalled Yosemite tried all the steps but failed with the same error (GPT error)
4- I phoned to apple helpdesk and they tried to help installing windows but we couldn't succeed.
5- We had another same macbook pro. And we could install windows 8.1 easily.
6- I compared the two machines in windows setup. The problematic mac had first partition labelled EFI.
7- Then after a few hours. I tried to install again. And saw that the EFI label was gone!. But I don't know how this is happened.
8- I was happy and started to install windows. After installing the system gone!!.

I would return it for an exchange. At a minimum, I would take it in to an Apple store.

Hello. I was just wondering, could someone post pictures of, and tell me if the zCover case for the Creative Zen Micro has a screen protector? Please get pictures of the front, sides, top, bottem, and back, with the clip on and off. Thank you!

just received the Zen Micro Leather Case...very nice...as indicated on the product page, there is a protecti've vinyl display...
    http://us.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=23&subcategory=27&product=5
and the magnetic snap closure is a nice touch (puts no force on the Zen Micro to close like you would need for a snap button)...
question: there is an opening at the bottom of the case...possibly for a lanyard? anyone seen one? looks like it may loop/fit inside the battery cover...

    Hi,
I bought my Creative Zen Mozaic EZ00 in February and yesterday, after adding files to it and disconnecting the usb, it went onto the 'rebuilding' screen and became stuck there. I reset it and when I turned it back on, it stuck on the same screen once again. I have tried accessing the recovery menu, but it won't appear.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    LK

:Mine does this sometimes. i tried to recovery mode-nothing worked. tried firmware-nothing. so i deleted everything on my ZEN Mozaic and unplugged and waited for it to load up and then i plugged it on the USB and aded my music and took it off and it worked. but i hate to do this everytime.

  • Creative Zen Vision: M, Firmware 1.40.02 and screen backlight not blank

Is there a bug in the .40.02 firmware?
I just bought a Creative Zen Vision: M yesterday.
I noticed that with the out of the box firmware (.30.02), the LCD screen backlight would turn off to conserve battery power.
Later in the day, I upgraded to the .40.02 firmware posted May 24, 2006. Now my LCD screen backlight stays lit all the time.
Since the player is so new, I wonder if I'm imagining things.
Can someone with .30.02 or earlier firmware confirm that their screen backlight turns off after some period of time turning the screen dark?
Can someone reproduce the problem with the .40.02 firmware that the screen backlight stays lit, no matter how long since the last button press?
If I'm not imagining things, this would seem to dramatically affect the playtime on a full charge.
    Thanks.

    This is INDEED a problem.
The screen is? SUPPOSED to blank all by itself , NOT only with the lock button engaged. I have this exact problem and returned one player only to see the same thing with the next. I also have the .40.02 firmware !!! Creative support said to upgrade my firmware to .6.xx? and see what happens. If the screen doesn't blank by itself without the lock button,? they are sending me another player !
