Creative Zen (the video thing)

Hi, I have a 8gb Creative Zen, BUT I can't put any music on it at all.. I'm on my Macbook, but the Mac just can't seem to find the player.. I'm having a hard time finding it on the Windows computer as well.. and the Cd that came with it works for **bleep**.. so have no idea really.. help please ..

Bb While I've not tried .srt subtitle files, the only videos I've managed to get it to play are DivX or XviD in AVI containers - unfortunately AVI doesn't allow for subtitles to be built in unlike Matroska or Ogg Media. For that reason I tend to go for hardsubbed (part of the picture) fansubs where possible as I watch most of my anime on my Zen.

Creative ZEN 4gb video gets out of sync, please h

When i play back relati'vely long videos (around 30 minutes or more) on my new Creative ZEN 4gb? the audio part of the video i'm watching becomes out of sync with the video after 5 minutes or so, hence the words that characters say don't match up w/ their li

get the picture? it is REALLY annoying and i've tried firmware .20 and it didn't help, i've also reverted to .0, same problem. is it just my player or is this a common occurance and what can i do to fix it's thanks a bunch. and don't get me wrong, i think that despite the bugs the new ZEN is a good player.

hmm... come to think of it, that makes total sense. that could also be why the screens lag a bit when i'm listening to music and browsing my system settings as fast as i can. i'll try encoding my videos at a lower bitrate tomorrow, have any good setup in mind? (i.e. xxxKbps format-.xxx audio xxxKbps format-.xxx) also, i would think that a high bitrate (high enough to slow the player down) would produce visual slowness in the videos, and thus i could tell if that was the problem or not. but i haven't noticed visual slowness so does it work some other way or is it just so subtle that it takes a while to notice the video losing sync with the audio?

I've got a SDHC card 8GB in my ZEN and I converted some family guy videos which are perfect if I play them on the computer.
I have put all the episodes of family guy on my ZEN and when I played it, it just played but the longer it plays the more the video stays behind on the audio. But when I play the SAME episodes which I put on my ZEN, on the computer it just works fine...

That sounds like a software conversion problem. Try using this program http://forums.creative.com/creativel...thread.id=2983? to encode the video & then? load it on the card. I've used it & it works really good,fast & no playback issues. It also has a preset for the Zen

Creative Zen Vision:M FM Radio Completely Disappeared!! (Reinstalling firmware doesn't hel

I turned on my Creative Zen Vision: M, and the FM Radio wasn't there. It just simply disappeared; it's not listed on the Main Menu, nor is it listed as an option from "Configure Menu". This has nothing to do with a new Firmware update that removes the?radio; my player was not connected to?my computer. I have had my player since July of 2006, so it's obviously too late to return it. I've looked around on the forum and many other people have had the same problem, but the only solution has been to reinstall/upgrade the firmware. This doesn't solve the problem. I've tried everything on the recovery menu--formatting, rebooting, cleaning disk, etc, but nothing has worked. I've also contacted Customer Support, but from what I've heard, it's probably not going to help. Has ANYONE been able to solve this problem? It's really frustrating that so many people have this problem and nothing has worked.

Are you saying that once I rollback my WMP to WMP0, my computer will be capable of reading my Zen & thus, allowing me to download the firmware and restoring it's previous condition (minus the contents-music, video, pictures, etc.)
Also, I tried to see if my Zen would try to connect to my laptop - I uninstalled the Zen program on it before connecting it, to see if anything would come up, allowing me to do anything, etc. But no, it just said "My Zen" but I couldn't do anything with that. And then I installed all of the software on the Creative Installation CD. After all of that, apparently my computer acknowledges that a device is connected via USB because it gives me an option as to what to do with it - open it, play it with wmp, explore, etc. The problem though was that the Creative program itself wouldn't acknowledge that it was connected. So I still had the "The player is not connected."
Just thought this might make a difference -
I also was looking for some kind of repair shops or sites that would be capable of repairing my Zen - the only thing I came across was http://www.zenrepair.com/Zen/index.jsp - does anyone know anything about this site? If it's reliable, etc. (Just a back up option in case this situation isn't solveable by other Zen peers.)

What the heck. Ive seen this problem everywhere but I protest to bang my zen to make it work. It won't load. It gets stuck at the CREATIVE screen. I downloaded the new firmware, but i can;t get my computer to recognize my computer because the **bleep**ing microphoto wotn start..

It was not my intent to curse. The asterisks are only an implication of frustration while writing the post. We are in the US. The first two players my son received and returned were within the 60 day time period and he was instructed to deal with the store where the unit was purchased. He did and when the third unit began to act up he followed your instruction to the letter. You see he was now over the 60 day limit and the extended policy was not purchased because he was told Creative was the best thing going with very few problems. He was instructed to contact CS over the internet. He did. Off and on for 2 months and became frustrated. He took the unit to school and several intelligent college honor students tried to help him by following the instructions that were sent via e-mail. It was concluded that the hardware was faulty (third time was not the charm) in the unit and CS was contacted again and again and again most responses leading to the same thread over and over again of things he was to try to fix the unit. Are we frustrated yes. Will we promote the product not likely, the company as a whole, can not say because we have not dealt with anything other that e-mail. Is he out a couple hundred bucks YES. As a college student doe he have the money to purchase another, NO! And I think I did mention that the entire unit is out of warranty because we were lead by a thread to the bitter end.

with the creative zen can video files be played directly off the sd card or do they need copying to the mp3 players memory (which is the case with the Zen:Vision W player) obviously the video files would need to be in a compatible format

I use a Transend 4gb SDHC card in my Zen 6gb, OK, it's not really big enough but I was unsure if it would work in the Zen and it was very cheap (?8), it works beautifully. I have concert DVD's stored on it at the moment( I don't want to store movies on the Zen's memory) with no problem with fast forward or rewind, but my biggest nag is having no preview whilst FF or RW, is this normal?Message Edited by bigred on 02-02-200807:50 PM

Please, help me! I've just formated my mp3 accidentally. It's stupid I know, but there were some pic and videos I rly like and they already were on this mp4 when I bought it. There was video with panda and funny music and some pictures for the wallpaper. I can't find them in the internet. If someone had any creative's wallpapers or this video with panda for zen V, please contact me cause I really need them. Please...

I've got the same issues... but remember that the ZenCast videos are also there for Zen Visual:M and Zen Visual:W and all that, not just for the Zen V Plus.
I've been able to successfully convert movies from http://www.pocketmovies.net/. But that's about all. Oh and one successful attempt to get RocketBoom on my little device!

Games on Creative Zen 8GB MP3 Video Pla

I am looking for a MP3 Video Player for the wife. She also would like a game, (maybe solitaire), included in the device. Does any of Creative products have this included?TK in Tn.

I'm pretty sure there are none. I'm positi've the new Zen does not, and neither did the Microphoto. That just doesn't fit into Creative's business model, not before and certainly not now that they've stepped out of the hard dri've based player market. That is a feature better suited for a mass marketed player like those from?Crapple and M$... and?I can't even be sure that M$ includes them, either. I do know?Crapple does because?I confiscate the darn things on a weekly basis from students!?But then again, I'm just trying to post a bunch of messages so I can upgrade my status from 'Newbie'

I wound up getting the Zen 4GB a few weeks ago but delayed posting until I figured out how I liked it.
- I like that it has a big screen with big text that I could get by using without my reading glasses (old eyes) in a pinch. That is a very toughtful touch I have't seen on any other players (not that I've seen them all.)
- The big screen will also show pictures and videos which I don't care much about but is a nice feature if desired.
- The big screen doesn't come with a cover and it will get scratched up fast. It took me a while to figure this out so my screen got a little scratched up before I realized it.
Consider screen covers mandatory. They are sold seperately in a 3 pack for around $8. This is so important the device ought to have come with at least one screen cover in the box, even if it raised the price $2. My screen cover has been on for a few weeks and shows no sign of wear or coming loose. I did combine it with a rubber device cover I got on amazon for $3 which protects the whole device and covers the edges of the screen and screen protector. The unit is now protected. The cover comes with a little strap and D-Ring clip which is good for hanging onto some piece of clothing.
- It has a built in battery which is good. It supposedly takes a long time to recharge but that is not an issue for me. I just plug it in to a USB port with the included 4" long cable and it has plenty of time to charge during the day for my use. A fast AC charger is available at extra cost (~$25 I think.)
- Defect: The unit shuts off after being on pause for a few minutes (good) but it starts up at the beginning of the track when you restart (bad.) If you turn it off, it restarts where you left off as it should. This would not be an issue for music listeners, but it is for audiobook listeners when the track may be an hour to several hours long.
- Defect: Bookmarks are not at the top of the Menu list and although some menus are customizable, the one with Bookmarks is not.
- Defect: You can't get to Bookmarks when in the book. You have to back up to Music Menu, click to get to menu, and scroll 2 spots to get to Bookmarks. Not a deal breaker when you get used to it, but clearly not designed properly with the audiobook user in mind.
- Sound quality: very good. Even with music, very nice.
- Included headphones: Nice sound. They fall out of my ears and get tangled up a lot but I think thats true of most earbud headphones. I'm going to get the Sony Sport headphones I've had before with a foldable over the head strap.
- Bookmarks: 0. Plenty for me. (Who listens to more than 0 books at a time )
- Price: $90 for 4GB. I thought that was quite reasonable.
SUMMARY: With a few menu enhancements and the ability to return to it's place after a pause/shutdown, I'd consider this device close to perfect for the audiobook listener.

Try going into "Control Panel->Administrati've tools" and clicking on "Computer Management". Find "disk management" in the left pane and click it. Your Stone should be in the right somewhere. I think you need to right click, then "choose dri've letter and paths" and give it a dri've letter with the "add" button. Let us know if that works.

Creative Zen 8 gig - How do I play all videos at one time and skip to next vid

I was able to do this with the Creative Zen V plus 2 gig, why can't I with the large and more expensi've one?

I have the same question as the original poster.
I am loading the zen with music video files only (wma) and would like to have the same playback options as mp3s.
I understand video file dont have "tags" like mp3s used to facilitate searcing for tracks eg. artist,album etc and i wonder if this could be a problem.
The question is...How do i get the player to play a list (or folder contents)) of video files either randomely or consecuti'vely without having to do it manualy for each and every video ie set up a playlist. Or is this not possible

Just wanted to mention - I bought the IR Remote thinking to make the player useful without navigation keys. Now I feel like I wasted more money instead of shifting to some other player by some other company with better customer service.

if u wanna change the skin of your touch you ll have to brake the warranty patch that is over a screw and with it end your warranty time.

Creative Zen Sleek and the Now Playing-part of the firmw

Hi,
this week I got my Creative Zen Sleek. I'm very satisfied, except for one thing - the Now Playing-part of the firmware (the list with all the songs queued up). In the old Nomad Jukebox Zen firmware, the list was divided by artist or album name. On the Zen Sleek, however, the list is just going on without even showing which songs belonging to which album etc.
This is really annoying me - would it be possible to fix this, or at least consider the possibility for this to be integrated in the next firmware upgrade?

& Putting the X-Fi into Recovery Mode and selecting clean up seemed to fix the problem, but it does still come up randomly.
The clean up puts the player menus back to their defaults though... any chance that in a future fix for the player, this wouldn't occur?
