  • Creative Zen Touch - Hard drive problems - HD upgr

    Hi!
I bought my Creative Zen Touch almost a year ago now. Yesterday my hard dri've went crazy. The sound was a funky rythm, 0 DJ "scrathes" then one more high-pitched sound. In the Rescue menu I try to format the hard dri've and it responds with "Hard dri've problems."
Yes, it has fallen down several times. I don't know what caused it to malfunction this time though. It suddenly just stopped working. It looks like a mess, was bought over internet under the name of a mother of my frien; to make a long story short. I have no warranty :/
So here's what I decided; I opened it up to take a look inside it. Here's what I found:
    - One loose battery, too much dirt on the sticky stuff.
    - One hard dri've, model: HTC424020F7AT00
And here is my main questions:
    - Can I use a 40gb Hitachi dri've in my 20GB Zen Touch? This is just the big brother, so the dri'ves are pretty much the same except storage space. http://tinyurl.com/4yurr
    Thanks

    Thanks for your reply SSR. I'm a clueless as to what the controller is, but at least I've found out that the <EM>Creative</EM> <EM>Zen</EM> <EM>Touch</EM> <EM>20GB</EM> uses a .8" harddri've. So the larger <EM>Fujitsu</EM> <EM>Siemens</EM> 2.5" dri'ves, which the <EM>Creative</EM> <EM>Nomad</EM> <EM>Zen</EM> <EM>Players</EM> use, aren't compatible.

  • Please ! creative zen touch 20 gb problem with firmw

okay hallo,?yesterday i wanted to update my fireware, then my pc restartet. and the updating doesn't finish.now i'am at the Recovery Mode with this 4 point. i tried every point but it doest help.and wenn i start the player it says..fireware problem. so i musst put new firmware on my player, right ? but how can i do this ?wenn i start the firmware update.exe it says that there is no connection with the player.please tell me in steps what to do ...or is there no help anymore ?please !!Message Edited by bugati on -3-200605:45 AM

it's the blue power light, not the backlight. and no, i havent tried calling costumer service yet. i read another topic about how this happened to someone, and they said the little light eventually made the battery go dead and when they plugged it to charge it, it worked. so i figured i'd try that. but i have to take a really long train ride in 2 days and thats going to SUCK without music, and i don't think the battery will be dead by then. so i think i'm going to call costumer service

  • Creative Zen Touch...problems with getting it to turn

ok so last friday im on the bus going to school....normal day no big deal listening to music watching kids make fools of themselves...but back to the point, anyway we pull into school so i hit power button and it says "Shutting down.." so i put the 'hold' button on and put it in my backpack...well i get out of school get on the buss pull it out and it still is saying "shutting down". seems to be caught in a continuous shut down cycle because it wont let me do anything so i put it in my bag and wait till i get home...well stupid me i forget about it until i pull it out monday and it wont turn on....what should i do...the blue light just flashes as i try to turn it on....thanks

attach the player to the adapter, while attached hold play and press the reset button, it will start up in recovery mode, leave it there for a few hours to properly charge the battery, then attach to computer and run firmware update

  • Creative Zen Touch Time reseting problem.

When my player is off for more then 24 hours the time resets back to jan 200. i realize the player has a hard shutdown after 24 hours but everything else stays the same well except the songs that were in the playlist and the time. i have tried reloading the firmware and other such methods. has anyone else had this problem and able to correct it's

If you've tried everything from rescue mode it unfortunately sounds like the player is faulty.

  • Creative Zen Touch stuck in Recovery M

Bear with me please since my english is not the best, but I'll try to explain my problem as good as I can.
Both me and my girlfriend have Creative Zen Touch mp3-players, and yesterday we were gonna update the firmware on both of them. We went to the Creative support page download-section and downloaded the latest one. When we were gonan install it it gave us the message that all data would be removed and that was fine with us since we already had plans about removing most of the music and replace it with new tunes. But when we were installing the firware it statrted out just fine but then when it said "Player is being rebooted, please wait..." (or something like that) it just was like that for a long time. After 20 minutes my patience ran out and I unplugged my device and tried with my girldfriends instead. Same thing happened with hers so now both our players are stuck in recovery mode with no firmware what so ever in them. I tried installing the firmware once again on both of them but now it can't the firmware just says my device isn't plugged in even though it is and my computer finds it as soon as I plug it in.
I contacted support and they told me to uninstall everything that has to do with the player and also remove Windows Media Player and all of its components. The reinstall the drivers and restart my computer. Then I should wait until my device told me to updtae the firmware to press the language selection on the firmware update. I did all of this but the firmware upadate still says my player isn't connected. This happens with my girldfriends player too, so it can't be any defect on the device.
So right now we're sitting on two mp3 players that are useless since they are stuck in recovery mode with no firmware. Please help me if you can and please keep in mind to not use too difficult english words. Thanks in advance!
Worth mentioning is that I've tried both the old and new firmware updates just to get it going and no one worked.

Can't believe no ones answered this, check this thread ttp://forums.creative.com/showthread.php?=94247 then look for Rich's post in the thread, check his link for more info.
Basically uninstall wmp, and it's run time and reboot
    Be using XP
try to install creatives latest plays for sure software suite (it will fail)
Don't unplug the player just reboot
Player should be found, ignore all messages of any kind
Go to FW update and double click it
Hopefully breathe a happy sigh of relief.
Creative you really are a bunch of toerags

  • PLEASE HELP - Serious problem with my Creative Zen Touch firmware

Ok, so I finally decided that I would upgrade to the latest firmware version for my Creative Zen Touch. I knew that doing so would erase everything on it, so I backed up everything onto my computer's hard dri've. So from that standpoint, I'm in the clear.
HOWEVER, during the upgrade process, my computer froze, leaving my precious MP3 player without ANY firmware. This then drove it into "recovery" mode, where I can either clean up, format, or reload firmware. I've gone through each of these options, but when I go to "reload firmware" my computer will no longer detect my Zen! I've tried reinstalling different driver versions, different firmware versions, etc. The bottom line now is that my mp3 player has no firmware, and my computer won't detect it.
I feel like I probably need to go back to the basics. Unfortuantely, I don't have my installation CD with me. Can anyone post the initial installation file please? Thanks in advance!
I really hope I can work this out, I don't know if I've gone a day without my Zen in the past two years!

Simon, this is actually a common problem with the touch. Mine did it about a year after purchase, so I was safe to open it up and fix it. It is actually a really simple fix and is due to a loose connector. I know alot of other people on nomadness.net were having this problem, so I posted a solution here. Hope this helps!

  • Problem with the Creativ Zen Touch 20

    Hello,
I have a problem with my 20 Gb Creative Zen Touch.
Since today he gets stuck if "<EM>Zen Touch</EM>" on the screen appears. Put back nothing brings, he gets stuck further there at the same place. My computer does not recognize him and charge nothing also brings.
    What can I do?

Hi, I get sometimes the same problem, try to turn on in recovery mode & clean up:
Go to www.creative.com -> support -> knowledge base ->and select you player, & search: "Recovery Mode: What to Do And How To Access"
    & follow the instructions.
I cleaned up my player, but this action erased my songs. So,back up your files before do this.

  • Help!! Touch Pad problem (Creative Zen Touch 20

I dropped my Creative Zen Touch 20 GB accidently on the floor and now I have problems with my touch pad.... I can scroll down but can't scroll upwards anymore. This means I can't change my settings and it became quite difficult to select songs in long playlists. It is very annoying!!! Is there someone who can suggest me what to do? My warranty is already expired. Thanks for your reply.

Why not replace the part? Instructional video link also on the page? http://www.thegadgetdr.com/Zen-Visio...hpad-black.htm

  • Creative Zen touch Playlist Problem - H

I've had problems with the software on my creative zen touch 20gb since i've had it. All i want to do is learn to creat a playlist of all my favourite tracks. Because of the software problems i've had (and i've tried everything to fix it) the only program it will let me use to synch files is Windows Media Player. I've read all the instructions about how to create a playlist but none of them apply to windows media player. Does anyone know how to create a playlist using the media player. the version i have of the zen touch is 2..0.

Yeah it synch's ok. I can transfer music over no problem, but the difficulty comes in creating a playlist. Say for arguments sake i had 0 albums on my mp3 player. I might want to take individual tracks from each album and put them into a playlist. I cant seem to do that with windows media player.

  • Problem with Creative Zen Touch DAP-HD0014

    Hey,
I have the Creative Zen Touch DAP HD004 as listed in the subject. Version .0.03
In the "Information" part of the player, it lists it as having GB of music available, but in the menu only the 59 default classical music songs appear. (These are not knowingly mine!)
I was wondering whether there was any way to turn the player into Hard Dri've mode to retrieve these songs, or to use some sort of program to view them and put them back onto the player? Everytime I use My Computer to browse the MP3 Player, all that appears are the same 59 songs.
I hope this information can help someone to solve my problem!!

Unfortunately not since the Zen has broken whilst I am travelling. Is the Nomad Explorer possible to download as Freeware? If so I will give that a shot. Thanks for the reply.
EDIT: I downloaded a trial version of "Notmad Explorer" and I can now see 2590 Data Files. Once I download a full version, is it simple to just conver Data Files into Audio Files?
Thanks so much for even getting me to this stage! I've spent weeks downloading all sorts.
