'Thanks a million for the link, KokChoy-CL! You are now on my X-mas present list.
I have been using the .0.03 firmware, but recently I read http://forums.creative.com/t5/MP3-Players/Zen-Touch-Custom-EQ-Frequencies-Wrong/m-p/64205" and wanted to try out the .00.06 firmware. Comparing from memory and using custom EQ, lows and mids sound much more clear now while bass is a bit more on the light side.

• PLEASE HELP - Serious problem with my Creative Zen Touch firmware

Ok, so I finally decided that I would upgrade to the latest firmware version for my Creative Zen Touch. I knew that doing so would erase everything on it, so I backed up everything onto my computer's hard dri've. So from that standpoint, I'm in the clear.
HOWEVER, during the upgrade process, my computer froze, leaving my precious MP3 player without ANY firmware. This then drove it into "recovery" mode, where I can either clean up, format, or reload firmware. I've gone through each of these options, but when I go to "reload firmware" my computer will no longer detect my Zen! I've tried reinstalling different driver versions, different firmware versions, etc. The bottom line now is that my mp3 player has no firmware, and my computer won't detect it.
I feel like I probably need to go back to the basics. Unfortuantely, I don't have my installation CD with me. Can anyone post the initial installation file please? Thanks in advance!
I really hope I can work this out, I don't know if I've gone a day without my Zen in the past two years!

Simon, this is actually a common problem with the touch. Mine did it about a year after purchase, so I was safe to open it up and fix it. It is actually a really simple fix and is due to a loose connector. I know alot of other people on nomadness.net were having this problem, so I posted a solution here. Hope this helps!

• Zen Touch: Firmware upgraded, Zen unavaila

Hello,
I was done the firmware upgrade to 2..0 on my Zen Touch. Everything gone well. The player seems to work fine.
The new firmware should not need driver (PlayForSure tech.)
I removed the old software and drivers from pc, and reboot.
Now if I connect the ZenTouch to PC, It went recognized by "system configuration" but don't appears in Explorer or MediaPlayer0.
I have try also to use RegClean to clean registry. I have try to reinstall original driver disk but the Zen is not recognized by old software/driver.
I have try to connect the Zen to another computer, Everythings OK.
How I can recover my PC? I don't have any Recovery Point in my pc.
I believe that something happen to MTP driver, or some System Services.
Does Creative have some "diagnostic tool" ? or MTP driver istallation?
Please Help.

(greeting from Italy)
P.S. Sorry for my bad English.

There's some advice for the Micro, most of which is also relevant for the Touch, see the link "problems with connecting using MTP firmware" in the FAQ post.

• Creative Zen Microphoto - "Firmware upgrade failed&qu

Hi,
two days ago my Zen Microphoto started in "Recovery Mode".
I had no means of getting out. I first selected "Clean Up" and rebooted, still "Recovery Mode".
Then I downloaded the latest firmware version for it:
ZENMicroPhoto_PCFW_L6__3_0.exe
Then I selected "Upgrade Firmware", acknowledged with "Yes", the firmware was deleted, but the windows firmware application said "no player connected" after connecting the player.
Okay, after googling a bit, I found out that I needed to downgrade from WMP to WMP 0.
I (painfully) did this and after installing an additional Registry Key via fixup.cmd the
ZENMicroPhoto_PCFW_L6__3_0.exe
detected the player (hurray!). It showed "Current Player Firmware Version .20.0 " and "Upgrade File Version .3.0".
When clicking on "Upgrade" at the windows application, the blue progress bar appeared and the player showed "Recovery Mode" and a blinking USB logo.
What it did NOT show afterwards was a gear symbol with "Upgrading firmware" (which I found on a screenshot in the internet).
When the blue progress bar of the windows firmware upgrade application reached about 85% it halted and after minute the windows firmware application showed "Firmware upgrade failed!" while the player only showed a black screen with "Recovery Mode" and the green battery symbol at the top.
I also tried the same procedure with
ZenMicroPhotoP4S_PCFW_LB__20_0.exe with the same result: "Firmware upgrade failed!"
Any ideas how to "repair" the player

• Creative Zen Touch firmware prob

I know this is an old obsolete player but it has worked fine for me until now. I just got a new computer and to use this with it I needed to update to the plays for sure firmware. Knowing I could not do this on the vista computer I decided to do it on the XP laptop and backed up all of my music before beginning. Well the update hung and left my zen touch in recovery mode. Is there any solution to this or am I stuck having to buy a new mp3 player?
Any help would be appreciated while I wait for a response from Creative Labs.
TIA Claudia

What O.S. is on the other computer? I don't know about the licenses you should be able to back those up thru media player and store it . To rollback media player I first need to know is that computer Xp or Vista ? If it is Vista you can't roll it back . It would have to be an Xp machine for that. ? http://forums.creative.com/creativel...hread.id=66060 ? These are the instructions to rollback media player to wmp0 don't forget to uninstall the wmp runtimeMessage Edited by coachop94 on 08-30-2008 07:25 PM

• Creative Zen Xtra Firmware Upgrade Problems v1

While trying to upgrade the firmware on my Creative Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra, there was a problem with the upgrade. I'm now stuck in rescue mode v.3. When I plug the MP3 player into the computer, Windows will recognize it and asks me what to do. I exit that window and try to run the firmware update again. The firmware program tells me "Your player is not connected, please connect your player."? there are 2 options "Upgrade" and "close". Upgrade is greyed out, but close is clickable. I've tried
1. clean up,
2. format all,
3. reload OS and
4. Reboot.
None of those options seems to do me any good. I've uninstalled all the Creative software from my computer, but still no luck. Please help me. I'm doing my best to avoid having to go buy an iPod, but if I can't get my Creative Mp3 player to work, I guess I will have to. I have spent a lot of money between cables, the docking station and the leather case. I'd hate for all this to be wasted, so please help me.
I've tried to "reload the OS" and then clicked on the language the moment the Player told me to start the update. Someone please shed some light on this for me. I've tried email Customer Support. I've searched Google. I've put my best skills on it and of course I've scoured this website to no prevail. Someone help me out.

READ ALL BEFORE PROCEEDING You do need to install the driver. http://support.creative.com/Products...e=MP3+Players# When you get to the page for your player bottom left the manual selection choose Xp & clik submit the driver should be the first one version 2.0.00 .After the driver is installed when you plug in the player check in device manager to see that it shows up there Start>Control Panel> System>Hardware>Device Manager look under Portable Devices or for the name of the player. Use a rear USB Port to assure a good connection. Then run the firmware file on the computer ,choose reload firmware or Os on the player, choose language when player asks for update(the pop-up from windows indicating that it "sees" the device DO NOT CLOSE IT.)

Sorry, if i tahke so much of your time!
I tried to install the usb 2.0 device with the driver windows/inf/wpdmtp.inf, but the PC says, that there are no informations about the maschine. And in the portable media center he also can't find the mp3-player. I have done 2 updates (WindowsMedia-KB8922-x86-DEU) and (windowsmedia0-kb902344-x86-intl), but the third (windowsmedia0-kb89536-x86-enu) isn't working, because the update isn't existing in my language. Can this be the problem or how can i normally connect to the mp3 player, if the mp3 player is in rescue/recovery Mode?

• Zen Touch firmware downloads page confusin

Currently the Creative US Downloads page for the Windows XP section of the Zen Touch shows

Which is fine... But expanding 2..0 shows:
Requirements:
Windows XP with SP or SP2

Windows Media Player 0

Available USB port (version . or higher)

Creative Zen Touch firmware update version 2.0.05, available from the Internet

Creative Zen Touch player

The question I have is do you really need firmware 2.0.05 installed to update to 2..0? It doesn't have the ability to install itself over top a v firmware? I noticed the file size of 2.0.05 vs 2..0 is a large difference, about 500kb.
Also nowhere does it say PlaysForSure, but we all know that it is a PlaysForSure firmware.
So just wondering.... why it doesn't say PlaysForSure when it is, and why you can't go straight from v to 2..0. It would be nice to that way people can just install one firmware and be done in 5mins, as opposed to doing 2 updates and waiting 0mins. Hey 5mins is a big deal considering your player just got formatted and you need all the time that you can get to put back your thousands of songs In 5mins you might be able to transfer hundreds of songs! If not thousands!
Hopefully someone can clarify as one can easily download and run 2..0 thinking its just a normal non-PlaysForSure firmware when in fact it is. And your faced with a problem.....

It wouldn't be the first time Creative have got the readme wrong, or at least missing information.
I guess it either needs a Moderator to clarify, or someone who has gone straight to 2..0 (or at least tried).

• Creative zen touch chronic problem

This problem has been bugging me ever since I first receive creative zen touch 20 gb, and make me change to another brand, and leave this unit in the warehouse The problem is the back button and the next track button has been annoyingly randomizing all tracks, so I GET tracks randomized almost all the time Upgrading firmware doesn't fix it, creative lousy customer support in my country even make me more nausous I bought it in 2004 and since then, I never wanna buy another creative product Recently someone mention how to fix this button problem, but the link he provided is dead, can someone enlight me ?

My Zen Touch stopped working on me, I formated it, nothing, then clean it up, still nothing. So deleted my firmware to try to update it. Had the update downloaded, connected my mp3 player opened the update and it says my player is not connected, please connect player. Then when I checked my player it said Creative Zen Touch v0.0.0That # is the version # for the recovery mode. I take it you had the Plays for sure firmware 2..0. You can't update the firmware on Vista. Must be done on a XP computer with WMP0 NOT WMP? Find it here http://support.creative.com/Products...me=MP3+Players

• Creative Zen Touch Prob

Ok So I decided to format my creative zen touch (the firmware, clean up the whole deal), no problem.. untill I restart the mp3 player and now I get a "firmware problem" screen and then it refers me to the rescue mode.
So now I try to clean up the disk... done
I reload the firmware ... done
reboot
Back to the recue mode, aha? Ok so I plug the zen touch in to my computer, well finally something starts to happen atleast the windows recognizes my zen touch.
Great I think... untill the problems start coming again, since my zen touch claims I have zen touch version "0.0.0" I think I should update the thing, it says the station is docked... and the firmware program says my zen touch isen't plugged in
So now I'm here stuck without firmware, with a windows that finds my zen touch .. says its plugged in but the firmware **bleep** can't find it, and neither can my windows after 4-5 minutes
What am I dealing with here? and how do I solve all of these problems?
what have I done to deserv this?
And for gods sake do not refer me to any "problems faqs" because I've tried all of em, and my zen touch is not broken since it worked perfectly untill I just did this.Message Edited by Flores42 on 06-29-2006 :34 AM

I can't reinstall any firmware on it because the firmware upgrade programs say they cannot detect my player.Would've been nice if they included a warning with the firmware that says "If this upgrade doesn't work, your player will be ruined and there will be nothing for you to do but buy a new one."
That happened with my player too.. try connecting it to a different PC and then try installing the firmware.. that worked for me.

• Creative Zen Touch no longer docking; problem has appeared out of the bl

For the last couple of years, I've used my Creative Zen Touch without any issues. I managed to upgrade to the MTP firmware with no troubles whatsoever. When I tried to plug it in a few days ago and add a number of songs, the computer no longer recognised the player. The USB ports seem fine, and when I plug it in the player boots. It doesn't come up with the "docked" screen on the player, however, and in Windows a "trying to add new hardware wizard" window pops up that never used to pop up before. Whatever I try to do, it never works. I'm using Windows XP SP2 and like I said, I never used to have any issues before until this popped out completely unexpected. It just won't realise that the Zen Touch is a MTP player for some reason!

The people on the forum who would respond are customers, like you, being rude to them probably won't encourage them to help.
These two pages contain some useful tips, have you checked these yet?

• Recharging the Creative Zen Touch via

Hello Users,
since I upgraded to Vista, I also needed to install the new PlaysForSure-Firmware on my Creative Zen Touch. Afterwards I was unable to recharge the battery via USB. I connect the player as usual but the little loading symbol on the screen won't show up and even after 2 or more hours of waiting, the battery didn't recharge. I also already tried resetting the player.
Is there any way to fix that problem without buying a new recharge-cable. The battery is empty right now and it is not possible to start the player.
Thanks for your help,
Dr_Enquinox

If you mean the power adapter, then I would/can only recommend the official ones. If others want to recommend or point to unofficial ones that is okay, but we do not support those and have not tested them.
The cable you use to connect to the PC is a standard USB to mini-USB cable, you should be able to get that in any electronics/computer store.
When you connect the player to the PC, is there any sign that it is recognised? Does it show up in the Device Manager?

• Creative Zen Touch DAP-HD0014

Hi, I have a problem with this, when it boots up it says firmware problem and boots to recovery mode. I've downloaded the firmware and am unable to update it as there is a message saying not connected. I have tried USB ports on front & rear on my PC and with different cables. Any ideas would be gratefully received!

The zen touch has to to be installed as a?WPD instead of a MTP. The process of rolling back the windows media takes out the auto to make it's a MTP.
So I suggest to the creative dudes is make a driver that loads the players as a WPD and the upgrade will work on all the players.
Everybody that lets it load as a MTP will never get the Upgrade button to work.
Very simple problem. Yes. But how do you get it to install as creative zen touch WPD. You will have to do alot of things to your computer and then luckily it will load as a WPD.
I am asking the creative team to modify the Upgrade installer to recognize the new MTP for the Upgrade installer the simplest solution. Alittile GIU programming guys.
I await the the new Upgrade installer.
PS The whole purpose for the upgrade is to be in MTP mode. Once it reboots the first time the upgrade installer should recognize the player as a MTP no matter what! Then we could hit the upgrade buton to install the firmware 2..0.
Hellloooooo
