Creative Zen Touch Headphone Jack Prob

I've got a 20GB Zen Touch MP3 Player in which I've had for about almost 5 years now. The player has been excellent and very reliable so far but about a month ago I encountered a small problem with the headphone jack. Now I'm not quite sure if the jack has worn out due to wear and tear and mind you I use it a hell of alot. The problem here that I've got is if I'm listening to music on my headphones and I move the headphone jack itself i.e slightly wiggle it I will totally loose the sound quality and the sound quality sort of gets funny, like its a contact problem with the male jack and the female headphone socket on the Zen itself. Its like a contact problem between the both inside. Apart from that all the other functions work very well and I dont have any problems there. Now I dont know if this is a common problem with the Zen Touch or Creative MP3 player products in general.
Ok now I have been quite dissapointed with Craeti'ves Support here in Australia. They make great products but their support could be improved. Anyhow I li've in Perth, Australia and I rang Creative support in Sydney. They said to me that I had to send in my Zen with a cheque of $300 or so dollars (can't recall the exact figure). The reason for the $300 is that if they could not fix the problem they would use the money for a relacement of a new one plus it would take 6 weeks to repair, wow 6 weeks without my MP3 player would dri've me nuts !
Now I'm 100% sure it is a headphone jack problem like a loose connecton or something like that caused through wear and tear and I'm sure this also happens to Ipods as well.
Now here my other question. They say the require a cheque for $300 for the above reasons I mentioned eg if they cant fix it that money would be put towards a new one. Now lets assume it is the headphonejack problem in which I doubt will cost $300 to fix and they say it was more than that i.e circuit board, chip etc etc (in which it probably wasnt) and use my $300 to that was unneccasarry spent on a new player etc. I mean how can I really trust their honesty. The player might be perfectly fine apart from a small worn out headphone jack socket but their making excuses that this was not working etc.
I li've in Perth, WA and would like to know if anyone here from Australia can reccomend me any really good service agents for Creative MP3 players. I mean really do I need to send it to Creative and get fixed

I too am getting the Zen Touch now after multiple Micros which suffered from the bad jack disease. It seems, based on the limited number of people responding to this thread, that there are fewer incidents of this plague hitting the Zen Touch. Do you all agree with this premise/conclusion?
If there are others out there with the faulty headphone jack hitting the Touch, again, please let us know.
Also, to all Touch users in this thread, what are your thoughts about it's Have you compared it to the Micro? Is that a fair comparrison? Also, how does the Touch compare to the 20GB 4th Gen iPod?

Zen touch headphone jack....just went ka-p

alright so i did some research and it shows coincidentally, that the touch gets headphone jack problems near the beginning of february.....well its feb. 9th, and mine is broken. should i not waste my time, and send it back for refund (i have a 3 year warranty)?
any suggestions, would rather not send it and get a repair ( i hear its useless and takes forever)

if the jack is busted, its busted. is your warranty from the store you bought it at? if so, you should be able to take it there for a replacement. otherwise, you will have to contact customer service and get an RMA. i have heard some people had a good experience with Creative support, so i wouldnt be too scared to work with them.

Creative Zen Micro headphone jack..has it been fixed on new mode

I bought one of these about 6 months ago and it turned out to be have a faulty headphone jack which started breaking after 2 weeks-i'm thinking of buying a new one..can anyone tell me if the problem still exists in the new models?

conor48: There have been emails copied and pasted from purported Creative employees saying that it was fixed in later revisions, but Creative Support have neither confirmed nor denied this officially on the forum.

Zen Micro Headphone jack prob

I would like creative to recognize the problem with the headphone jack, so any one with the faulty jack post here along with any other information you might have.

There have been mulitple threads discribing this problem. Do a search for "Micro Headphone Jack" to see what im talking about. I think they have acknowledged the problem, but im not sure. I do know that the mods are aware of the problem, and no doubt they know why all these players keep getting sent in.

Creative Zen 8GB - Headphone jack is

I have recently purchased this player and immediately see that when I plug / unplug any headphone, the screen flashes as if the player had been turned on. I don't think that simply plugging or unplugging a headphone should activate the player - has anyone else seen this happen? If so, did you return the player?Thanx

i dont know who told you that but I have my headphones hooked to mmy ZEN and it doesnt turn on.... and YES i would most definitely be trying to get it exchanged....its NOT supposed to do that...some wire must be crossing wth the USB port inside the player making it do this....but dont try to fix it on your own....just tll Creative that you got one of the crappy ones and it does that.....dont let them tell you that its supposed to do that....tell em someone? you know has the ZEN and theirs doesnt turn on when they connect the headphones....thats the stupidest thing i'd ever hear if they told me that....

Zen's headphone jack prob

i've been using my zen for two mos already when i suddenly noticed that my earphones started to flip out on me-- i had to bend it and move it time after time bec the sounds would become inaudible. i thought that my headphone wire must've been screwed (i have the habit of sleeping with my earphones still with me), but when i used another headphone, the problem didnt go away. then i noticed that even when my zen is turned off, i would often hear "a very faint grounded noise"... and when i turn the player right that moment, the problem on my player would be present. it wouldnt take a genius to figure out that its my player that has the problem.
can anyone tell me what might be the problem? im thinking of getting it replaced if the problem continues. this is the last straw regarding creative products.... in as much as i try to love my player, but with the problems im facing im really disappointed that i ever bought the zen

Vackie...all of your questions should be answered by simply doing a little (very little) bit of looking on this forum. I don't mean to be rude but there are several significantly long threads on here addressing this issue. A simple read of the other posts would tell you that this is a problem that sadly has aflicted many Zen Micro users (and other Creative MP3 players it seems).

Creative Zen Touch Prob

Ok So I decided to format my creative zen touch (the firmware, clean up the whole deal), no problem.. untill I restart the mp3 player and now I get a "firmware problem" screen and then it refers me to the rescue mode.
So now I try to clean up the disk... done
I reload the firmware ... done
reboot
Back to the recue mode, aha? Ok so I plug the zen touch in to my computer, well finally something starts to happen atleast the windows recognizes my zen touch.
Great I think... untill the problems start coming again, since my zen touch claims I have zen touch version "0.0.0" I think I should update the thing, it says the station is docked... and the firmware program says my zen touch isen't plugged in
So now I'm here stuck without firmware, with a windows that finds my zen touch .. says its plugged in but the firmware **bleep** can't find it, and neither can my windows after 4-5 minutes
What am I dealing with here? and how do I solve all of these problems?
what have I done to deserv this?

That happened with my player too.. try connecting it to a different PC and then try installing the firmware.. that worked for me.

Hi Folks,?A bit of a naf question, I want to connect my Creative Zen Touch to a Bose Life Style System, To provide the best quality Audio connection can you advise what is the best cable for me to use. On a seperate note has anyone any comments on the Cambridge SoundWorks Dock Station, I would like something to connect the Zen Touch to for the kitchen, the cambridge sounddock id a bit of an ugly beast. i read somewhere in the forums that Creative can fix the headphone jack problem for free?
Do you need a warranty for them to do it for you? And are all the songs on the player deleted when they fix it's
I would try and fix my Zen Micro headphone jack myself, but I'm afraid I might do something wrong.

i recently got my micro replaced at best buy after it had the headphone jack issue, and my new one is having the same problem. I'm pretty sure best buy gyped me though because they gave me a micro that was sitting out on a table like it was used or something. Since this was within the last 3 months am i able to mail my micro in to creative to get one of the new, hopefully fixed, ones for free? It's soooo frustrating because i love the micro but the stupid head phone jack just makes me want to strangle it.

I don't remember hearing anything about a dock yet.
The video cable was being discussed on another thread, and it wasn't clear whether 3rd party cables work or not.
There's no need to buy a travel adapter. Just buy a plug adapter for the current adapter.
Screen protectors for the iPod apparently fit pretty well. They might need some trimming, or you can just buy another oversized screen protector e.g. for a PDA, and cut to size.
There have been MANY headphone recommendation threads, like this one. Try searching back. I personally recommend Sony's EX5/7 canalphones, as well as the Sharp HP-MD33S canalphones (Creative have rebadged these and sell that as the EP-630s). They might be a little above your budget, but are both great canalphones.

Zen micro headphone jack cheap

I started having intermittant problems with the zen micro headphone jack that has been well described. I found that if I held the headphone plug in a certain position that both channels worked well. I took a standard size staple and placed one prong of the staple in the thin space between the headphone jack and the body of the micro in a location where the headphone jack would be forced into the position where both stereo channels worked. I then broke the prong off by bending the staple back and forth and then pushed the sharp edge down with the end of a ballpoint pen. This made the headphone jack fit very snugly in the position where both channels worked when I plugged the headphone in. It solved the problem completely and is significantly cheaper than the $40.00 creative would want to fix the problem.

You could easily take it out with a pin or using another staple to catch the bottom of it. It really doesn' go in very far. Certainly would take it out if if can't fix the problem before sending it in. Its amazing that the staple diameter is exactly the size needed to keep the microphone jack tight in the case.

Creative Zen Aurvana headphones

Wow, creative has the WORST customer support on earth, the website is circular, and you can't get anywhere with it.
So I have the Creative Zen Aurvana headphones, used them for 3-4 months and one side doesn't work anymore, they were mildly used, and well taken care of, but one side stopped working.
I tried filling the warranty form but it doesn't even list the headphones anymore as a product.. wtf?
Can anyone give me the Creative customer support phone number, they don't list it anywhere on the website, every link leads to one another.. CREATIVE SUCKS.

Hello fellow disgruntled Creative customers. I just got a pair of the new EP-640's and am having the same problem... after just a week! The sound hasn't gone out completely from the right ear, but it's still barely audible. I'm probably going to take them back and get some from a different brand. I can't wait to get a Creative pair after this problem is over.
