Creative Zen V and Windows 7?

CHi there,
I'm just bought a Creative Zen V 4MB and am having problems with installing it. I'm using Windows 7 and now realising this could be the reason why!? Is there a driver that will work with Windows 7? The installation from the CD partly worked, but I got lots of error messages during installation to say contact customer support (will post exact message if this helps),
Thanks for your help,
Louise

Hello,
Thanks very much for your quick reply.
Yes I bought the player on Amazon Marketplace - unfortunately I bought the player new so I didn't realise that it was discontinued and there wouldn't be any official support for it. Also the reason I bought a new player was because after I upgraded to Windows 7 my old Zen Micro wouldn't work with it so I seem to have the same problem now :/!
I have connected the player again and it is recognised and I can transfer files across from my computer. The problem seems to be with the media explorer - when I try to open this up the computer hangs. Is there any service pack or file you can point me in the right direction of which may fix this?
Thanks for your help,
Louise

  • CREATIVE ZEN MICRO and WINDOWS VI

I hope this question has not been repeated.
I have a Creative Zen Micro and have attempted to install it on my current computer that uses Windows Vista 32-bit. However, it was unable to install or find the driver necessary.
I've already looked at the 'driver release plans'?for this product and there is only a page regarding 'Nati've Support', which says 'The MP3 products ZEN Micro, ... require the latest firmware to ensure Nati've Support in Window Vista'.
I've searched for firmware for the Zen Micro on a Windows Vista 32-bit in English, and found nothing.
How can I make this product work with my Windows Vista 32-bit computer ?
    Thank you !!!

First of all for a little background information, the problem lies in a problem between Creative's firmware installation program and Windows Media Player . WMP is standard in Windows Vista. As a matter of historical information, Creative has not developed any drivers for Windows Vista, therein the rub; Windows Vista does support the Microsoft PlaysForSure initiati've, and many of the older players like the Micro series does have PlaysForSure firmware available to enable the player to be used in Windows Vista.
Now for an outline of the necessary ste
    ps.
Back up all of the content on your Micro. The firmware that you will install includes a disk format that will erase all of the content and change the way that the disk dri've on the Micro is formatted.
You'll need to find a Windows XP system that does not have Windows Media Player installed. You or the owner of the system should also be knowledgeable in the use of Windows XP System Restore feature so that you can return the system to it's previous state after you are finished with it.
Create a Restore Point on the XP system. Download and install the drivers for your Zen Micro to the XP system. This will enable the player to be recognized by the computer.
Download the PlaysForSure driver for the Micro, V2.2.02, to the desktop of the XP system.
Connect the player to the system with a USB cable and execute the program.
When the firmware installation has completed, the player will reboot. You may disconnect the player. After you have confimed that the firmware revision is correct on the Micro, do a System Restore to put that system back in the condition that you found it.
Connect the Micro to your Vista system and it should recognize the player and install the nati've Windows PlaysForSure driver and pair it with your Micro.

  • Creative Zen Touch 20GB - Windows Vista

(Creative Zen Touch 20GB - Windows Vista6 Hi folks,
My old computer running XP recently gave up on me and I now have a new computer using Vista.
I have lost the cd I got with my Zen Touch as it was over 5 years ago now but it still works perfectly!
I want to set up Creative Media Player on Vista so I can start transferring music again but I have heard that if I download the firmwear I will lose all the songs that are currently stored. I really don't want this to happen as most of my music was contained on my old PC and it will be very hard to locate it all again so if there was a way I could just set up Creative Media Player the same way I had it before, without losing all my current music, that would be great!
    Any help much appreciated.
    Thanks,

  • Creative ZEN TOUCH and Macs, plz h

    Hi,
I am considering buying a Creative Zen Touch and would like some help
I was wondering if anyone could answer this for me, and yes, I have the read the FAQ and about Macs and how it isnt officially supported, yada yada
What I would like to know is, I have a PC at home which I will use to transfer music
    HOWEVER
At Uni'versity, I am forced to use a Mac computer. What I want to know is, I would like to use the Zen Touch as a portable hard dri've so I can copy my homework (not mp3s, but school work) on to the Zen Touch, then go to Uni'versity, plug in the mp3 player into the Mac and access my DATA files from the Mac WITHOUT having to install any software (i.e. plug n play)
    Thanks,

    peterh85,
I'm afraid you can't. The player will need driver and application installed in order to link up with the computer for file transfer. Even when MTP firmware is available, you will need to be using Windows XP and Window Media Player 0 to interact with the player.

  • Mp3 Player not detected in Vista ,I need drivers for Creative Zen Micro in Windows Vista 32-b

Hi ,?Im trying to install my Creative Zen Micro in windows Vista , But A Compatibility Problem appear and i can't install it .Windows Show me that a new hardware is found? and what i have to do , i Install it with the CD , but The installation can't be successful and a message saying me i have to contact Creative Support for the dirvers appear and the installation can't be completed. I've tryied to contact creative suport , but they don't find solution . I've searched the drivers but they wasn't found in creative site web . If anybody Have a solution for install my zen micro or can help me , please ... I have to buy another Mp3 Player ? This have a solution ?Thanks ,i hope that you can help me. Regards

I updated my Firmware as stated by Creative Labs support team. I downloaded on my son's PC which has Window's XP Pro edition. Again, on his PC there is no problem with recognition of the device and/or player. However, when I plug my player into my PC which has Vista, the device manager has a "!" next to ZEN Micro Photo. So my PC "See's" the player. However, when you right click and then go to "Properties" it states that "The drivers for this device are not installed (code 28)" Then it states to "reinstall the drivers" But when I tried to install or reinstall the "Driver" using the install wizard, I get an error message... "An error occurred during the installation of the device" and " A service installation section in this INF is invalid" Then a pop bubble appears and says "Found new hardware" You may have a problem with your device. It may not be working properly" So what do I do at this point. The only way for me currently to download music is to use my son's PC. At least I have another option... I feel sorry for the rest of you. When will creative wake up and smell the Vista!!

  • Is the Creative ZEN compatible with Windows XP Pro x64 editi

Hello, I recently bought a Zune and then found out it wasn't compatible with my OS, XP Pro x64. I installed the software on my laptop, but it was just too troublesome to set everything up and exchange music, videos, etc. between the two machines. So I've decided to return the Zune and get a Zen instead. I'd really like to buy the ZEN 8GB, but it does not state whether or not the x64 edition is supported. The ZEN V Plus states that the software does support the OS, so if I have to get that one, I don't mind. Thanks.

CRe: Is the Creative ZEN compatible with Windows XP Pro x64 edition?H I recently bought a Zen 8GB mp3 player. I have an xp x64 pro OS. As soon as I tried to instal the included software from the CD, a dialogue box appeared stating, "The windows operating system running on this computer is not supported by this product." I have done everything the technical assistance group has suggested with the samed result including a clean install. I did load it on my 32 bit laptop. It works fine. ONe of the problems I have found is that the correspondance goes to a different person each time and they are not reading the dialogue. I have found a way to make it work (well somewhat) with my 64 bitg machine. Oddly enough thed software for my zen V load on fine but the software is incampatable with the Zen 8GB unit. I think that there are softwarfe problems and CT is not really dealing with them.

  • Creative zen v and line in on 10.4

i have a creative zen v and an imac w/ 10.4 on it.
i want itunes to see the zen, but that wont happen.
i do have xnjb which sees the zen, but doesnt play the mp3s on it. it does let me copy mp3s from the zen to the imac which i dont want to do. i want the imac to play the mp3s from the zen.
the zen has a headphone jack. the imac has a microphone in jack. i want to play the songs on the zen, and run a headphone to headphone cable to the mic in on the imac and have the zen play the songs and the imac play what it is recieving from its mic in jack. anyone know how to do this? like what program plays mic line in?
    thanks in advance.
    imac 800mhz Mac OS X (10.4)
    imac ? Mac OS X (10.0.x)
    imac ? Mac OS X (10.0.x)
    imac 800mhz   Mac OS X (10.0.x)

Sorry but the iMac 800MHz doesn't have an Audio Line-In port; it only has a built in microphone, an Apple Pro Speaker connection, a mono internal speaker and a headphone port.
Personally I'd copy the mp3 from the Zen and then import them to iTunes so the device doesn't need to be connected.

  • Creative Zen USB and File transfer probl

Am the unhappy owner of a brand new Creative Zen touch 20gb mp3 player which apparently works with usb 2.0. After installing the software which came on the cd (file transfer software and nomad explorer) the Zen appears to get recognised by the pc with no problems when i connect via the usb cable. The Zen also displays 'docked' which is all very well. However if i select say 0 tracks to download to the player the xp progress bar seems to halt at around 60-70% and eventually the program (nomad) complains that the operation cannot be completed. I noticed that the small hard dri've in the player feels as though it is 'spinning down' around a similar time to the message being displayed. If at this stage i refresh the players view in nomad explorer it can be found with no problem....its just i cant write to it until i unplug the usb from the zen and reconnect. I spoke to creative who told me that because my pc (in system devices) reports that my usb is an 'open host' adapter...this means it cannot supply adequate power to the player....but surely USB2.0 is USB2.0 and if something claims to be USB2.0 compliant that would be the end of the story? The usb card im using is a usb 2.0 pci card and is also pretty new. Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated.
I have tried various usb ports, usb and2 conections ( I have both), various cables and combinations and the same happens. I have also tried win xp and win98, and other disks I have with the same result. I have managed to transfer 20 os so mp3s (a small proportion of those I have been trying to transfer)after 3-4 hours hard labour but never the contents of a full folder. After a proportion of the files are transferred then Zen touch becomes 'busy' or 'not connected'. Obviously there is no way I can continue like this and it will have to go back.
I have tried the slightly newer driver but this did not work at all and I had to roll back to the one that came on the CD. I feel that I have given it a fair shot trying all the workarounds.
Is is a USB power problem? Should a powered usb hub cure it's If so why?
But is this surely is Creative's problem. It is obviously a known issue but what are they doing about it's Putting out Zens which are prone to this problem is not good practice. Any solutions out there?

    Hey,
If you tried it on a friend's computer and you're still having problems then it may be a problem with the Zen. Before you call or e-mail tech support, here is what they will tell you do to first before they really get in depth with helping you. Go into Rescue Mode (there is an explanation on how to do this at the top of the forum) and do a disk clean up. After that, try it. If that doesn't work then click the reload OS option which will take the firmware (like windows to your PC) off the Zen. Don't worry you can easily put it back on. Go to Support>Downloads>select Zen Touch, etc, etc. and download the latest firmware and run it. Hopefully that will fix it....
I had some connection problems myself with my ZT as soon as I got it as well. and simply reflashing the firmware fixed and now I love my Zen. I hope everything works out for you.

  • Creative Zen products and "Frozen" probl

    Hi,
I'm one of many owners of the zen micro who faces this very problem. I don't really want to caveman it but it seems like creative is intent on not really helping as I don't see a FAQ or an answer to this oh-so-common problem anywhere on the website or doesn't give tech support on products older than 6 months (which is a very short amount of time for an electronic device that costs almost as much as month of my rent). Would you please be so kind as to indicate me the proper technique to fix this?
Because you see I bought an iPod following the departure of my zen micro and it's been working really well so far but I'd really like to make use of the money I spent previously as a backup player and I don't think it's fair that a problem so common seems to get ignored.
A brief example, early playstation 2's optic dri've were a major problem, most of them broke in x years/months/days. This was a known problem which anyone using a playstation 2 of that generation would experience at some point. I bought a PS2 second hand which managed to work for 3 years and bam the optic dri've stops working. I call Sony and I get told "mail us the unit, this is known problem and we will fix it for you". Granted it did cost me 5$ to mail the unit, I was very satisfied with Sony's service and now own a PlayStation 3.
My Creative Zen Micro breaks in a common way and I get told to either smash it hard and have it work for a few more weeks, or I mail it, pay for pieces, repair and mail-cost to have it work for... less than 6 months apparently? I am lost for words, I truly am! Please provide us with a solution because I believe most people using a Creative facing this problem do NOT intend to buy another Creative product.
Thanks for reading this long text, but I believe it's a fair review of the situation,

  • Develop software for connecting to creative zen touch and other devices not recognized by wind

    hi there,
as a programmer i wonder, is it possible to obtain information of how to connect to usb-connected creative device (which is not recognized automatically by windows, as the zen touch) and how to communicate with it's is there any documentation about that available to "non-creative" ;-) developers?
the idea is to create a plugin (e.g. for musikcube) that enables the programm to access the files on the device.
i know there are third party companies that do provide software for connecting to e.g. zen touch, but i do not think that they have figured out every little bit by themselves, have they?
    greetings and thanks a lot
    asdf

    Try this:
Download <a href='http://www.delldjsite.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=444' target=_blank>this[/url] file. Extract it to whatever folder you like. Inside that folder run the file fixup.cmd. A DOS window will open up and start display messages on what its doing, when its done it will instruct you to remove the device from Device Manager and reconnect it.
Try this and see if it works.

  • Creative Zen Micro and Podcast

I want to subscribe to a series of National Public Radio podcasts on a tool (maybe iTunes but I don't think the Creative Zen Micro works with iTunes) and be able to easily sync these onto my player. I have a Creative Zen Micro about a year old (or more?).
Does anyone subscribe and download podcasts to the Zen Micro that can post a How To? I open the Creative MediaSource Tool and can see the podcasts I want to sync to my mp3 in the "now playing" window but don't know how to get them to upload to the mp3.
    Thanks for any help.

  • Creative Zen Sleek Photo & Windows Vi

I've got a Creative Zen Sleek Photo player, and I just got a new computer for school. Since all new computers come standard with Vista, I can't download any of my Creative software because it is not compatible with Vista. Is there any kind of?download update or file that I can get so that I can make the software compatible and install it's

You do not need to install the software on the disc. The driver is nati've to the Vista OS. Windows Media Player can Sync to the player rip cds, ect.

  • Windows operating system error with a Zen Sleek and windows 2

I have tried to install the creative disk that came with the Zen Sleek. After launch I get this message "windows operating system running on this computer is not supported by this product and can get no further. I am running windows 2000 pro. I have downloaded the creative media source program from the creative.com site and it will install beautifully but when you launch it, I get the error " CTCMS.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows. You will need to restart program." I figure that these two problems are probably related. We have been able to transfer songs by using the play for sure, but I am disappointed otherwise.
    thanks, Kathy

On the packaging it should say the player is Win XP only. I'm not sure if the Sleek ships with the Easy CD that allows MTP/PlayForSure based players to work with earlier Windows versions.
