Creative Zen V Plus Line In Record

Hi all
I am looking at getting a number of these for my workplace to use primarily as a line in/external mic recording device.
We have trialled a number of HD based recorders in the past; iRi'ver, Cowon but we have found the line in recording standard to be poor.
I was wondering if anyone has one of these and could tell me what the recording standards are like, especially regarding the volume levels of the line in recording?
The iRi'ver and Cowons both have line in recording but the volume level is so low it is pretty useless.
Thanks in advance
Tim

I use my Zen Nano Plus primarily for line in recording directly from sound systems. Line-in recordings are saved as MP3s and you can pick the encoding bitrate, either 96, 28 or 60. The recordings with the built-in microphone are saved as WAV files. I've found that for line-in recordings it's best to put in some headphones and check that the recording level (via volume control) is satisfactory. I've never used any other line-in recorders so I can't provide any comparison. Anyway, I typically use the free version of Wavepad to do an auto gain adjustment on the recordings. Hope I was of some help to you!

  • Zen Nano Plus: Line in recording from micropho

I've got a Creative Zen Nano Plus and was very happy about its ability to encode MP3s from the line in jack.
Since the integrated microphone is not very good for recording (especially loud music) I tried to connect a microphone to the line in jack. Unfortunately I had to recognise that it doesn't record anything no matter if "Sync Track" is on or off.
I'd be glad if someone can tell me what exactly the problem is. Do I need some kind of special microphone (I read somewhere that it has to be "pre-amped", whatever that may mean) or is the line in jack designed for just recording from devices like a CD player? Help is very much appreciated. :-)

    Big bump.
I did some research quite a while ago and thought that I should report the results for people also having that problem.
A line-in jack is not a microphone-in jack. The difference between them is that the former is not supplied with electricity, so it can't power simple external microphones on its own. Thus, a real microphone-in jack is needed, though none of the Creative products has one included. You will still need a pre-amped microphone to get recordings with proper volume, though. A good and cheap solution is the Archos Stereo Microphone that comes with a preamplifier including volume adjust (http://www.archos.com -> Accessories -> Audio accessories).
Microphone-in jacks can be found for example in the iri'ver iFP-7** and iFP-8** series. Since this players are discontinued and newer models don't have these jacks, it's kind of hard to still use that feature.

  • Zen V plus line in recording with 10 minute tra

I just purchased a zen v plus specifically for recording certain programs using the line in recorder. The programs are generally /2 to 3 hours long. The problem I have is that the line in recorder breaks up the recording into 0 minute tracks. Is there a way to program or adjust the setting,so that it's not broken up into tracks?
    Thanks

When you record a track, the recorded track is automatically named LINE followed by the date and time of the recording ( LINE YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS ). For example, if you recorded a track on March 5, 2004 at 2:57 pm, the track is named >LINE 2004-03-5 4:57:00 . You can just extract the recorded track from the player and rename it when you have it connected to your computer.

  • Zen V Plus Line-In Record

I'm recording various shows on TV and Satellite radio by line-in audio recording. Can anyone tell me if the V Plus can charge and record line-in at the same time? If not, how long can it line-in record before the player shuts down? I have the Nano Plus and it's just too much of a drain with the AAA battery -- only recording about /2 hours before it shuts itself off.

it does not charge and record at the same time..
im not sure about the in-line recording battery life though..

  • Creative Zen Nano Plus audio line-in recor

Im planning to buy Creative Zen Nano Plus GB.
. Does Creative Zen Nano Plus audio line-in recoreder offer excellent quality of sound music when you record a certain music through a CD player's line-in?
    2. Please rate the quality of recorded sound music from to 0.
    3. Does the recorded sound quality the same as when you just download the music file through your PC's USB connection?
    thanks.

Is there something I need to set in the player to allow it to play out of it's line-in function?
You connected the ZNP's headphone out to your car|shelf|portable stereo's line-in, right? The line-in on the ZNP itself is only used to record external audio sources onto the player. The stereos may need to be set to play back from their line-inputs if they don't detect the signal and switch automatically, but that should be explained in the corresponding manuals.

  • Mp3 player Creative Zen V plus sound recor

Regarding the Creative Zen V Plus Mp3 player, how do I get the sound recording function to record mp3's instead of wav. My player is nearly full and I can't afford to store so many Wav's. Also, how do I change the settings for sound recording on either the player or in Windows? Thx

Sounds like you have a bad or weak battery in your player. How are you playing your music? Are you using wins Media player or another player to play your music? Do you have the orginal Creative Zen V Plus CD Installation Driver? You might try and uninstall the drivers and reinstall them again. Just some things to think about. I am having a problem w/ my Zen V plus. Read my Post about my problems. (Help w/ Zen V +) Keep posting here for help. ODIE

Creative Zen Nano Plus Media Explorer only works for the administrator account; for other users the message "The Zen Nano Plus is not connected. Please connect your Zen Nano Plus to the computer." is displayed, but it *is* connected and works under other programs.

How exactly do you do this? I checked this out tonight - when I logged onto my PC using my son's Limited User account (XP Home, BTW) I could connect his N200 and see it in Device Manager and Windows Explorer but both Creative pieces of software (CMS and N200 Media Explorer) did not see that it was there!
I tried setting the Run As... properties for the CTMS.exe file to run as one of the Admin user accounts but kept getting an error about being unable to find a specific file (which is in the Media Explorer folder!). When I went back to using the current user the error stopped. Perhaps I need to set the Run As.. options on that file as well?
As we don't use DRM'd music this isn't going to be a problem but it would be good to find out the cause of this once and for all.
I'm going to see if WMP0 has problems as well or if it's just the Creative ap

I have experinced, some problem during applying newest firmware. I haVe downloaded all new updates. Then I started Creative ZEN V Plus Firmware .0.03__ and ther was a problem.. On my player`s screen was displayed updating firmware. And there was displaying for a couple hour. But. At the end of applying of firmware. The message was updatinf firmware failure. Then I repeated for several times. And Againg was the same message.
Then I detached player from my PC. And from that time my player is not responding..
I tried to do this again. But my player is not functioning welll. When I tur it On the display is showing just Creative logo, and then it is (self) turned off.
Now player cant be recognised by computer. But when I connect my Zen V Plus, it is recognised as STMP3600 device , and is trying to install new driver.
    Can you Help me.
I bought my Creative Zen V Plus in miami I September this year. I`m Living in Serbia. Europe.
    Sincerely yours,
    Dejan Djordjevic
P.S. I`v tried to reset player, and to reset frimware according to your instruction in your Knowledge database. But can`t help me.

Yes I've got a TEAC MP-244 and I wanted to upgrade the firmware.
Tghe tool that was sent me by a TEAC support member worked; but it made my player to be a "STMP3600" and Windows XP wanted to have a driver.
I looked into the folder but the files there were corrupt.
The I downloaded the older firmware from the TEAC support website and - god thanks - the files in this packed folder worked. That means that the STMP3600 was recognized and a new device - in German: Player-Wiederherstellungskonsole (Englisgh sthg. like that: Device to recover the player?) - was created. Then I could upgrade the firmware successfully.
Maybe that's a help for you all guys.

  • Creative Zen Nano Plus..cords..warnin

Hello. i just got a Creative Zen Nano Plus and while I was going through the manual that came with it I noticed there was a warning about the cord(s): "WARINING: The cord(s) included with this product may contain chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproducti've harm. Wash hands after handling. " I'm wondering if Creative has changed the components of these cords. And if so can they be replaced somehow. I don't want to use a cord that may cause cancer or birth defects.

From a previous thread on this:
California law states that notification should be given if a product contains certain amounts of lead. Many types of electrical cords use small amounts of lead to make them more flexible and the USB cord used with many of our products is no different.
I believe a more official source of information regarding the Lead disclaimer, it's origin and purpose, can be found here: http://www.oehha.ca.gov/prop65.html

  • Creative Zen V Plus - Seeking your help with "Audio format is not supported" error

    Hi,
I have a problem with my Creative Zen V Plus and am looking for someone to do a quick test to help me. I listen to a lot of MP3 podcasts, so I often rewind, fast forward or set bookmarks inside tracks. When I do those operations in some tracks, I get the error ?Audio format is not supported? when I ?land on certain places in a track (and I am able to reproduce the problem, which happens always at the same place in a particular track).
Here is what I mean by ?land?. For instance, there is a particular track (see the mp3 link below) that whenever I rewind to exactly 35 min 37 seconds, I get the error ?Audio format is not supported? and playback is stopped. If I fast forward to exactly 35 min 37 seconds, I also get the error. If I set a bookmark to exactly 35 min 37 seconds and I then go to that bookmark, I also get the error. But I don?t get the error if I play the track normally without any rewinding or fast forwarding: the track is played and passes the 35 min 37 seconds mark without any error.
Creative Labs customer support wants me to return my player for repair, but I am not sure if the problem is with my player or if the problem would also be present on other Zen V Plus, thus my asking for your help.
I would appreciate if someone of you could try one of my problematic tracks on their player. Here is what you could do to help me:
1- Download and transfer to your Zen V Plus player the following audio file (it'ss a technology podcast and don?t worry, it'ss virus-free, it comes from CNET):
    http://podcast-files.cnet.com/podcas...oud_090808.mp3
2- Go to the 35 min and 37 seconds mark, press PAUSE and set a bookmark there.
3- Go into the Bookmarks menu and go to the bookmark you just set.
4- Do you see the error ?Audio format is not supported?, or the audio plays just fine? If the audio plays just fine, could you tell me what are the first words you hear
when going to that bookmark, just so that I am sure we are indeed doing the same test on each of our side?
5- What firmware version is your player at ?
Thank you very much for any help you could bring me.
    Patrick

    never mind. figured it out!

  • Creative ZEN V PLUS 8GB

Japan already seem to have the Creative ZEN V PLUS 8GB?when will the UK get this item? and at what cost ?

    Hello Skhell,
    Welcome to Creative forums!
Cleaning up shouldn't hurt your player. This will just scan your player and remove corrupt/invalid links that might cause some problems on the device. Boot the player from the recovery mode and do a Clean Up->Reboot. You can find the instructions here. See if that makes a difference.

They must have been talking about a different player such as the Zen Micro which does recharge via the USB port.

Hey Guys,Here is a link to instructions on how How to obtain and to install USB 2.0 drivers in Windows XP Service Pack . http://support.microsoft.com/default...;EN-US;Q329632?Win2000 and later have the capability to support USB 2.0, but USB 2.0 was released after XP was release, so there weren't any drivers installed before Windows XP service pack 2. Make sure you've installed all your windows updates including service pack 2. You can check if you have SP2 by right-clicking on my computer and choosing "properties", it will say on the general tab. Also the way to tell if you have USB 2.0 drivers installed is to right-click on my choose "Manage", then choose "device manager" look down to "uni'versal serial Bus controllers" and click on the + . This will expand the USB devices. Look for the word "enchanced" (USB enhanced host controller). If you see it, then you have USB 2.0 support. If not, use the link above and get the drivers. Hope this helps!?JT
