Creative Zen Vision: M - Space available after partit

When the player to be used as en external hard dri've, you have to specify the capacity (52MB ? 6GB), once this is done, will the player be able to use the space or only Windows XP?
To clarify the question even more, lets say for example I partition the player with 6gb, but I only have stored about 5gb of information, does this mean that I can only use 4gb to store my MP3/WMA files or would I have 25gb?

Please correct me if I am wrong.
I think you are correct. Space dedicated as an external hard dri've can not be used to store music or videos you want to view on the player.

  • What type of hard drive do I need for a Creative Zen Vision

    Hey everybody.
I have a Creative Zen Vision:M, and unfortunately after dropping it, the hard drive has decided to pack up!
I have decied to replace the hard dri've, but wondered which hard dri'ves are compatible with the Zen Vision:M? I know the hard drive is a .8" drive, but that's all I know what to look for so far...
Any help would be much appreciated.

    Hi,
It uses a standard 2.5" HDD. You can find them around in any good computer shop. You can use larger (capacity) as well. If you wish to find exactly the same one please try:
    (a) Open Device Manager,
    (b) Expand Disk drives item
You can see brand and model of the current HDD on your computer. If it failed already, pull it out and check.
    Regards.

  • Creative Zen Vision:M Problen, PLEASE HELP

I have had my Creative Zen Vision:M for a little over a year now. I has remained my favorite MP3 player by far in comparision to the rest of the competition. The problem I am having is that recently I went to transfer some music onto it after I hadn't done it in a while. I opened up the Creative Zen Vision:M Explorer, and to my dismay it said that the player was not connected. I have tried multiple reconnections with the wire, startup/shutdown many times even uninstalled and reinstalled the software but it always remains having the transfer files etc options faded out regardless of the player being connected or not. The Device manager has it listed without the yellow exclamation point so I know it is recognized by the computer but I am at a total loss for what to do now. Also, I have tried system restore to a time where it was working properly but to no avail it's the same thing. Any advice will be appreciated.

well im not really scared. but it won't wpork anymore. like everytime i turn it off reset it or reboot it. it would just show the recovery mode and nothign else. that worries me ebcause i can't get it to work as normal agains. =[ so yea. maybe the filmwire thingy would work.

  • Creative zen vision:M video download probl

I have a new creative zen vision:m devise and I'm having real trouble downloading videos purchased from 7digital.co.uk and itunes. I'm able to convert videos that I either took with a digital camera or downloaded for free easily but wmv files will not convert. I get the error message that either the file is protected, not supported or missing codec directshow(r) despite the fact that the website and Creative user guide suggest that both wmv and mpeg4 files are compatible. Please help! I'm running windows XP

    SOLUTION:
After lots of searching through the web, I have found this solution to our problems regarding transferring purchased video from 7Digital. This doesn't solve the mystery of the missing directshow codec (I haven't got a clue why VideoConverter thinks it is missing as I have just about every directshow/directX pack installed). This process involves making a copy of a copy of the video, but it looks fine to me:
) download and install the excellent freeware application ZD Soft Screen Recorder, available at http://all-streaming-media.com/recor...-recording.htm This is a brilliant resource which will allow you to record video from your computer screen and record the corresponding sound in the same file. It is totally legal as it merely copies an output and does not break any DRM.
    2) Launch ZDsoft and queue up the purchased video in Windows Media Player. Play the video to see the area of the screen it occupies and check 'record specified area' in ZDsoft. Then click 'select an area' and use this tool to draw a border round the area of the screen occupied by the video. Make sure no toolbars or cursors appear inside this border, otherwise they will be recorded too.
    3) In ZDsoft select 'AVI' as the output file, and choose the quality. DON'T choose WMV otherwise you will get the directshow error message again.
    4) Make sure 'record sound' is checked and click the 'settings' tab next to it. Choose one of the 'stereo mixer' options. Select 'start' to begin recording. The window can minimise if you wish.
    5) When the video comes to an end, right click the minimised window and click 'stop'. ZDsoft will then show you where it has saved the file and will ask you if you want to view it. If you select 'yes', make sure you have a media player set up to play .avi files. (Using an up-to-date real player as your default player for .avi files will result in the video then playing back in real player).
    6) Launch Creative VideoConverter. Add the .avi file you have just made to the conversion list and connect your Vision M. Select 'next'. The output seems to be restricted to WMV at 320 x 240 resolution and I don't know how to change this, but this is perfectly acceptable. Select 'crop to screen size' and 'transer to player' (or you can transfer later using MediaExplorer). And voila, you have your video on your Zen Vision M!

  • Creative Zen Vision M:30Gb freeze problem skipping between tracks

    Hi guys,
I bought my Zen Vision M:30GB 2 years ago. It was a regenerated model by Creative.
I'm fully satisfied of this product, i think the best of his category, but It has this problem since two years...Sometimes when i skip between mp3s (especially in random mode) it freezes and remains on the screen of current mp3, blocked...even I try to touch all buttons it doesn't unblock and i have to reset with a clip in the reset hole.
I've noticed that this problem comes especially when i use random mode of entire library (about 4000 songs) or however with a long playlist...it doesn't happen when i listen a single album (about 20 mp3s in playlist)
    Sincerely i'm a little bored ...
I tried to do some clean and format up by the system menu, but the problem persists...
I've also thinked the problem could be because there are in library mp3 with variant bitrate...or a physical problem (I hope not)
    What do you think of?
    Thanks for help!

  • Creative Zen Vision: M 30 gb - DRM information corrupt or missing.....???????

So I just started having this problem yesterday but it seem I'm the only ever to have it. I've scanned every page I can and can't find a solution. Yesterday I started playing my music then all of the sudden it stopped. Granted I was having problems before even though I just got this unit a month..........! I sent an email and still haven't received a response.
Here's the problem. While listening to my music yesterday I encountered a message saying - Playback Error. This error persisted after changing the track. After going home and reformatting, reinstalling firmware, downgrading -> upgrading firmware, reformatting over and over and over again, disk clean up, system restore, reboots, default restore, reformatting, again reformatting, deleting every piece of information I could delete...... you might be getting the picture so far.... After doing all of this I was unable to download tracks again onto my MP3 player. The only ones I can upload are unprotected content. I got thinking maybe there is a problem in my DRM file..... Where is my DRM file on the MP3 player and how do I delete it's You can't. At least not what I found. So again I tried everything over and over again and nothing works. I'm at my wits end trying to figure this out. I have a 30gb Creative Zen Vision: M player, Windows XP/Vista 64, Napster ToGo and now I can't use my MP3. This unit is a month old and I cannot use it. PLEASE HELP ME. This is very long winded but I'm hoping this will help a little. Thanks in advance, I'm going insane without my music.

Well I have never used a service like that. That's all I can think of off hand.

  • Creative Zen Vision 30GB - How to set IR Remote ON with Navigation keys not working in the play

I have Creative Zen Vision 30GB player. Within a month of buying, its navigation keys stopped working. I took it to the customer service of store where I bought it and they fixed it (their solution was to make firmware update, even though I do not understand how come that can fix this issue). Anyways after another 5 months of not so often use, the same problem returned (key pad stopped working and without it this player is useless). I sent it to Creative and they returned it saying that as it has few scratches on the edges, they believe it has been hit. I never dropped the player and these are normal scratches at the end if you do not use any skin (which I could never find for this player). Btw from my other friend's experiences, Creative always does like this, never considered warranty (so beware!). Anyways now the problem is that I have IR remote for Zen vision but it can not work till IR Remote setting in System->Player Settings is switched ON. And this can not be done as the navigation keys are not working. So please please suggest me some other way if anybody of you know to enable this setting through software. Otherwise this costly player is just a 30GB harddisk for me

Just wanted to mention - I bought the IR Remote thinking to make the player useful without navigation keys. Now I feel like I wasted more money instead of shifting to some other player by some other company with better customer service.

  • Creative Zen Vision M 30g wont dock

Creative Zen Vision M 30g wont dockt Hello,
Purchased the above player off of ebay, the player works in everyway but will not dock with the computer. I bought this for my son for Christmas because I have one and love it. Mine docks with the computer but his will not. When I try to dock the connection will turn the player on but the docking symbol will not come on.
I have tried several different connector clips and usb cables and nothing, but all of the same clips and cables work just fine on mine. Also, when I use the wall charger for the player that does work and does charge.
Any suggestions, and also could for some reason could the connection part at the bottom of the player be damaged in some way?
Ive tried the reboot suggestion, Ive formated the player and nothing works.
    Sincerely,

Yes that could be .You may want to return to the seller if you can.Are you using WMP? Try opening Media Player & going to the sync tab to see if that helps it to load the driver for recognition.Formatting the player again could help also. In the past I have had to format more than once for a player to be seen by Windows.

  • HELP!!! Creative Zen Vision M - unresponsive in ANY way...NEED HELP!

Ok, so this might be a very simple question to answer, but I'm very worried.
Pretty much, I had been using my Creative Zen Vision M (30 gig) for a long time, but stopped about a year ago. The batteried drained, and I didnt get around to charging it.
Now, it's been about a year, and I've tried plugging in the Zen into my computers to charge.
There is NO recognition of the player, no yellow alert, no new device alert, NOTHING.
The blue light at the top DOES NOT flash
And My media explorer thinks that it is not connected to the computer.
I've read a lot about Zens going black, and the blue light keeps flashing, but literally, from the time I plug in the Zen, to when it's sitting on my shelf, I notice no difference. I cannot turn on the player and it wont charge.
I tried using USB ports in the back, as well as leaving the zen plugged in all day to "Charge". Over 8 hours later, and the player does not budge.
I do not own an adapter to the Zen, but I tried a 4.5V sony one, and recieved nothing.
    The simple question is:
After letting the player drain, and die after just under a year of no use, has my player bit the bisquit's
    OR
Is my battery (or firmware, which unfortunately I have no idea what it is, but it sounds like I can upgrade without having the player turn on) simply taking it's sweet time to recouperate.
PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!! I am very desperate to get my player working again.

Leave the player connected to the computer & use a REAR USB port(with the computer on) for 24hrs. Or use a wall charger to charge the battery . It may take a hour for it to just start charging plugged in but once it does let it FULLY charge. That means until it stops blinking the battery icon it full & the player cuts off when done. Now I know Creative wall chargers are not easy to find & they are not cheap. The Sony PSP wallcharger is compatible with the players adapter(plugs into the center hole on the dongle) Also to get it charging after it has been connected for a time hit the Reset? while connected. Not easy but doable with a thin pin.

    Greetings:
I just bought the Creative Zen Vision:M for a trip away and noticed it didn't come with an AC Adapter. After looking at the accessories on the Creative Site, I saw the Creative Zen Power Adapter and decided to buy it. I didn't order it because I'm going away in a few days and . won't be able to charge my Vision:M and 2. won't be able to receive my package. Is there an alternati've product that I could pick up in store that would work with my Vision:M?
Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

    Hi,
Had one of those v3 myself, for me didn't work on anything but the Razr

  • Creative Zen Vision M won't power up. Doesn't even show LED lig

I received a Creative Zen Vision M as a Christmas gift last year. Worked fine for about 3 months, then I started having repeated freezing problems. Fixed those, but eventually the unit just died. No indication of any power. Not even the blinking light. Went to Best Buy where it was purchased, but they could not help. Best Buy tried to find a purchase record, but no luck. After giving up on it for a few months, I thought I'd try again today. I've had it connected by USB for the last 7 hours, but no luck. So what can I do now I like the Creative Zen products (I have had no problems with another Creative MP3 player), and I'd love to get this player working again because I enjoyed watching movies on it in flight.
    Your thoughts would be appreciated.

This happened to me once, so I purchased a new battery, then left it plugged in for a few hours after that.
It froze when I started it up, but when I reformatted it, everything worked fine again.
That may or may not help, sorry.
    Good luck =]

  • Creative Zen Vision M malfunctio

I have a Creative Zen Vision M. I've had this mp3 player for 3 years with no problems. This afternoon I was trying to transfer music from my laptop onto my Zen. I got an error message. It says "Access denied". This happens whether I try to transfer music from my laptop and/or when I want to rip music from various CDs to put on my Zen. I upgraded my Zen to the latest firmware version .62.2. After my Zen upgraded, all of my music files, video files and photos were gone. When I go to System Information, it shows that I have 23 videos on the Zen but when I go to Videos, nothing comes up. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Creative Zen Vision M program through the installation CD. While it was reinstalling, I got the following message: "DoInstall fails to launch D:PDE\Explorer\SETUP. INX. DoInstall return error code is -2472332."
When I now go to open the program, nothing comes up. Its like my computer doesn't recognize the player. I want my music files, video files, and photos back. I also want to be able to transfer audio and video files. Can I downgrade to the older firmware version .40. to get my files back?

really? :/ I dont like ebay and would prefer a new product... is there no other solution? Like writing to the customers and make out a good price for em to get a new of zen vision m?

  • Creative Zen Vision:M FM Radio Completely Disappeared!! (Reinstalling firmware doesn't hel

I turned on my Creative Zen Vision: M, and the FM Radio wasn't there. It just simply disappeared; it's not listed on the Main Menu, nor is it listed as an option from "Configure Menu". This has nothing to do with a new Firmware update that removes the?radio; my player was not connected to?my computer. I have had my player since July of 2006, so it's obviously too late to return it. I've looked around on the forum and many other people have had the same problem, but the only solution has been to reinstall/upgrade the firmware. This doesn't solve the problem. I've tried everything on the recovery menu--formatting, rebooting, cleaning disk, etc, but nothing has worked. I've also contacted Customer Support, but from what I've heard, it's probably not going to help. Has ANYONE been able to solve this problem? It's really frustrating that so many people have this problem and nothing has worked.

    Oh, right, sorry.
"OS Name: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
    Version: 5..2600 Service Pack 2 Build 2600"
Though currently, I'm installing Windows XP Service Pack 3 via Windows Automatic Updates.
    WMP Version: .0.572.5230
Should I uninstall WMP entirely to eliminate it as a possible factor?
(I have Winamp so I don't really need WMP.)
Are you saying that once I rollback my WMP to WMP0, my computer will be capable of reading my Zen & thus, allowing me to download the firmware and restoring it's previous condition (minus the contents-music, video, pictures, etc.)
Also, I tried to see if my Zen would try to connect to my laptop - I uninstalled the Zen program on it before connecting it, to see if anything would come up, allowing me to do anything, etc. But no, it just said "My Zen" but I couldn't do anything with that. And then I installed all of the software on the Creative Installation CD. After all of that, apparently my computer acknowledges that a device is connected via USB because it gives me an option as to what to do with it - open it, play it with wmp, explore, etc. The problem though was that the Creative program itself wouldn't acknowledge that it was connected. So I still had the "The player is not connected."
Just thought this might make a difference -
I also was looking for some kind of repair shops or sites that would be capable of repairing my Zen - the only thing I came across was http://www.zenrepair.com/Zen/index.jsp - does anyone know anything about this site? If it's reliable, etc. (Just a back up option in case this situation isn't solveable by other Zen peers.)
Also, thanks again for any help, effort, attempt, etc.
