The creative cable is not standard. You cannot use standard 3.5mm to 3xRCA AV cables. There are instructions on this forum on how to convert a standard AV cable to one that is compatible with the player.
More information on how the cable is wired is avaliable . Not my image, someone else on the forum created it, found it in this post.
There is an article on .
These are the instructions I followed to make my own cable from a standard AV cable. I can't remember who wrote it (Sorry who ever it is), so I don't pretend to take any of the credit for writing it:
Ok here is step by step (i don't have @ home atm digi photo, so i can't do shots)...
Things u'll need:
* AV cable ( 4pole mini jack -to-> 3 RCA yello', red, white)
* knife/scalpel/isolation removal tool...lighter can be a easiest way to remove isolation (when applied gently)
* isolation tape
terms:
GROUND (shield, minus, negati've) = outer wire in the cables, stronger one
HOT (plus, chnl,etc..) = inner smaler wire, caryin' signal
RCA (phonos, cynch,etc..) = those plugs u can find on most of the audio video equipment
MINI JACK (walkman jack, small banana) = can be mono, stereo or audio/video (4 poles)
It's your choice on what part of cable u want to do rewiring (close to the mini jack or close to the RCA's)
I'll describe here easier way (close to the mini jack):
- cutoff the cable close to the mini jack (leave jack with about 8-0cm of cable)
2 - remove isolation on all three cables from both sides (RCA's n mini jack)
- u should remove isolations (2-3cm) of shield/ground (outer wire) and from hot (inner wire)
- on the mini jack side: leave the RED one cable longer than yellow n white
3 - on the mini jack side: remove ground (outer wire) on YELLOW and WHITE cables and isolate
4 - on the mini jack side: remove isolation on the RED hot (inner wire) a bit longer, this is your new ground for all three RCA's, be careful that ground n hot on RED doesn't contatc so isolate em
5 - on the RCA's side: put/twist all three grounds into one wire
6 - wire RED from the jack side to the GROUND of RCA's side (look @ step 5)...isolate
7 - on the mini jack side wire RED cable's GROUND to the YELLOW's cable HOT on the RCA side, isolate
8 - on the mini jack side wire YELLOW cable's HOT to the RED HOT on the RCA side, isolate
9 - on the mini jack side wire WHITE cable's HOT to the WHITE HOT on the RCA side, isolate
0-isolate everythin' properly
enjoy ;-)

• Creative zen vision:M video download probl

I have a new creative zen vision:m devise and I'm having real trouble downloading videos purchased from 7digital.co.uk and itunes. I'm able to convert videos that I either took with a digital camera or downloaded for free easily but wmv files will not convert. I get the error message that either the file is protected, not supported or missing codec directshow(r) despite the fact that the website and Creative user guide suggest that both wmv and mpeg4 files are compatible. Please help! I'm running windows XP

SOLUTION:
After lots of searching through the web, I have found this solution to our problems regarding transferring purchased video from 7Digital. This doesn't solve the mystery of the missing directshow codec (I haven't got a clue why VideoConverter thinks it is missing as I have just about every directshow/directX pack installed). This process involves making a copy of a copy of the video, but it looks fine to me:
) download and install the excellent freeware application ZD Soft Screen Recorder, available at http://all-streaming-media.com/recor...-recording.htm This is a brilliant resource which will allow you to record video from your computer screen and record the corresponding sound in the same file. It is totally legal as it merely copies an output and does not break any DRM.
2) Launch ZDsoft and queue up the purchased video in Windows Media Player. Play the video to see the area of the screen it occupies and check 'record specified area' in ZDsoft. Then click 'select an area' and use this tool to draw a border round the area of the screen occupied by the video. Make sure no toolbars or cursors appear inside this border, otherwise they will be recorded too.
3) In ZDsoft select 'AVI' as the output file, and choose the quality. DON'T choose WMV otherwise you will get the directshow error message again.
4) Make sure 'record sound' is checked and click the 'settings' tab next to it. Choose one of the 'stereo mixer' options. Select 'start' to begin recording. The window can minimise if you wish.
5) When the video comes to an end, right click the minimised window and click 'stop'. ZDsoft will then show you where it has saved the file and will ask you if you want to view it. If you select 'yes', make sure you have a media player set up to play .avi files. (Using an up-to-date real player as your default player for .avi files will result in the video then playing back in real player).
6) Launch Creative VideoConverter. Add the .avi file you have just made to the conversion list and connect your Vision M. Select 'next'. The output seems to be restricted to WMV at 320 x 240 resolution and I don't know how to change this, but this is perfectly acceptable. Select 'crop to screen size' and 'transer to player' (or you can transfer later using MediaExplorer). And voila, you have your video on your Zen Vision M!

• Creative Zen Vision:M Problen, PLEASE HELP

I have had my Creative Zen Vision:M for a little over a year now. I has remained my favorite MP3 player by far in comparision to the rest of the competition. The problem I am having is that recently I went to transfer some music onto it after I hadn't done it in a while. I opened up the Creative Zen Vision:M Explorer, and to my dismay it said that the player was not connected. I have tried multiple reconnections with the wire, startup/shutdown many times even uninstalled and reinstalled the software but it always remains having the transfer files etc options faded out regardless of the player being connected or not. The Device manager has it listed without the yellow exclamation point so I know it is recognized by the computer but I am at a total loss for what to do now. Also, I have tried system restore to a time where it was working properly but to no avail it's the same thing. Any advice will be appreciated.

well im not really scared. but it won't wpork anymore. like everytime i turn it off reset it or reboot it. it would just show the recovery mode and nothign else. that worries me ebcause i can't get it to work as normal agains. =[ so yea. maybe the filmwire thingy would work.

• CReative Zen Vision M: AV cable alternative

Hi guys,?I'm new to this forum so may I start with a big hello and an understandingly proud pat on the back to any of you lucky people like myself who are the recent acquirers of the faulicious Zen Vision M! As tech toys go, it's the b****cks!!?But... That ****ed ugly, hateful, and dare i say, expensi've white AV cable has left me greatly upset. Not only did Creative extort ?360 of my very precious euros for a shot at audio- visual heaven in the palm of my hand, but now they want to stick me for an extra score so I can enjoy the experience on a full- size television! Standard store bought AV cables are not compatible with the Zen Vision M, and to me this is insulting! For shame, Creative! I believed you stood for the more deviant side of the digital music industry, but alas you're another Apple in sheeps clothing!! (I'm gonna start a poll - how many minutes until this thread is removed?..)?Soooo... coming back to my original reason for posting this - is there some way of splicing and rearranging the pins on a standard AV cable to make it compatible with my new toy or will I be forced to shell out for the ungloriously white original? These little beauties are selling like hot cakes at a hot cake festival. I refuse to believe that?no-one hasn't at least contemplated this issue and any information leading to a successful result is not only welcome but greatly appreciated. Kudos to Creative for coming out with the coolest little 'look what I've got! Na na na na naa!' doohickey since God knows when but I'm beyond disgusted with this arm foced behing my back style approach to accessories!?A 95% satisfied customer,Adrian.

Thanks you guys. It would seem I have very littl eoption but to get out my credit card and buy the ugly white s.o.b. Creative should give you loyalty points, man!! I mean, we're being forced to buy the bloody gear against our will, so why not show some sympathy? Fat chance, methinks!
With regard to the length of thew cables reaching the tv, you can buy AV extension kits in any good TV/electrical store if you're feeling too mean to splurge on the RC kit. Also only?available in nappy white!! What gives?
Thanks again?for the feedback you guys.
One last question - the new updated drivers?- what do they do?
A.

• Creative zen vision m 30 GB HELP

Please help... I'm a really stressed out college student and my mp3 player just crashed.
I reinstalled everything but when i try to reinstall the firmware it says that my mp3 player is not connected. I just lost everything and now I can't even fix it.
My mp3 player is currently saying that I have version 0.0.6. I have no idea if that is normal or not. But please answer a desperate girl's plea and help!!!
If anyone knows how to fix this or knows where i can get a hold of version 0.0.6 firmware...answer back please.

That is the version of Recovery Mode on the player, not the firmware. It sounds like your player doesn't start up correctly then, is that right? Does it go straight into Recovery Mode?
If you have access to another system try updating the firmware on the player from there, to see if that helps.
When you connect the player to the PC, is there any indication that it recognises it's Can you see the player listed in Device Manager for instance? (Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager)

• How to save video to play on Creative Zen Vision M

My (PC using) friend just bought a Creative Zen Vision M (the competitor to the video iPod). It will play MPEG1, 2, and 4SP and will play MPEG's created in an older version of iMovie (I forget which, it's been a few years). For some reason, the MPEG4 version created by iMovie HD6 is not compatible with the Zen player.
Does anyone have any ideas of how to export from iMovie HD 6 in a format that can be used by the Creative Zen Vision M?
Thanks.

>Hi,
Sorry about your ZEN Vision:M. From what you mentioned, I don't think the data is recoverable under normal means. You probably might want to take it to a technician? or someone who is familar with electronics to see if they can remove the harddisk from the ZEN Vision:M and recover the data.

• I need help with my Creative Zen Vision M 3

Hi!? So I was listening to my creative zen vision M 30g mp3 player when it froze in the middle of a song. I tried to reset it using the reset hole on the bottom. When I reset it, it rebooted to the recovery mode and it has been stuck there ever since. I tried using all the options on the screen, clean up, format all, reload firmware and the reboot. The only one that really works is the reboot. The other ones will go through the motions then stop and give me the message " hard disk problem"? anyway, I can fix this at home or do I have to send it away? I have had it for about /2 now so its factory warrenty has expired so I guess I am concerned about the cost of repair. At the same time however, It was almost $300 when I bought it so I dont want to just settle for the fact that it is now not working.
Any help or advice or similar stories would be helpful. Or cost?Amas2

• HELP!!! Creative Zen Vision M - unresponsive in ANY way...NEED HELP!

Ok, so this might be a very simple question to answer, but I'm very worried.
Pretty much, I had been using my Creative Zen Vision M (30 gig) for a long time, but stopped about a year ago. The batteried drained, and I didnt get around to charging it.
Now, it's been about a year, and I've tried plugging in the Zen into my computers to charge.
There is NO recognition of the player, no yellow alert, no new device alert, NOTHING.
The blue light at the top DOES NOT flash
And My media explorer thinks that it is not connected to the computer.
I've read a lot about Zens going black, and the blue light keeps flashing, but literally, from the time I plug in the Zen, to when it's sitting on my shelf, I notice no difference. I cannot turn on the player and it wont charge.
I tried using USB ports in the back, as well as leaving the zen plugged in all day to "Charge". Over 8 hours later, and the player does not budge.
I do not own an adapter to the Zen, but I tried a 4.5V sony one, and recieved nothing.
The simple question is:
After letting the player drain, and die after just under a year of no use, has my player bit the bisquit's
OR
Is my battery (or firmware, which unfortunately I have no idea what it is, but it sounds like I can upgrade without having the player turn on) simply taking it's sweet time to recouperate.
PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!! I am very desperate to get my player working again.

Leave the player connected to the computer & use a REAR USB port(with the computer on) for 24hrs. Or use a wall charger to charge the battery . It may take a hour for it to just start charging plugged in but once it does let it FULLY charge. That means until it stops blinking the battery icon it full & the player cuts off when done. Now I know Creative wall chargers are not easy to find & they are not cheap. The Sony PSP wallcharger is compatible with the players adapter(plugs into the center hole on the dongle) Also to get it charging after it has been connected for a time hit the Reset? while connected. Not easy but doable with a thin pin.

• Buying a creative ZEn Vision M Please help !

Hi there
I am debating on buying a creative zen Vision M after two years of i pod problems. My issue is can u convert the music from the i tunes libary to the player? or will u lose all that music
Thanks

--- If you have purchased the music from the iTunes Music Store, you will not be able to use the music on the player - iTMS music is iPod only.
There is a workaround (but it might not be legal, if you like to stay that way) - burn the music to a CD, then re-rip it in MP3 format using your favourite ripper. (iTunes will rip to MP3 - the option is under the 'Importing' tab on 'Advanced'.)
--- If your music is in AAC format, you can use a converter to change them into MP3. Be advised that this causes a major loss in quality - and if you own the CDs, you'll be better to re-rip them from scratch to ensure that they sound good.
You can do this conversion in iTunes - simply make sure that the format in the Advanced/Importing settings is set to MP3 (92kbps is fine for conversion). You can open the Settings window by clicking 'Preferences' in the Edit menu.
--- If your music is in MP3 format, you don't have to do anything! The ZV:M will play it nati'vely.Message Edited by Lokiz0r on 07--2006 09:8 AM

• Creative Zen Vision M 30g wont dock

Creative Zen Vision M 30g wont dockt Hello,
Purchased the above player off of ebay, the player works in everyway but will not dock with the computer. I bought this for my son for Christmas because I have one and love it. Mine docks with the computer but his will not. When I try to dock the connection will turn the player on but the docking symbol will not come on.
I have tried several different connector clips and usb cables and nothing, but all of the same clips and cables work just fine on mine. Also, when I use the wall charger for the player that does work and does charge.
Any suggestions, and also could for some reason could the connection part at the bottom of the player be damaged in some way?
Ive tried the reboot suggestion, Ive formated the player and nothing works.
Sincerely,
Alan

Yes that could be .You may want to return to the seller if you can.Are you using WMP? Try opening Media Player & going to the sync tab to see if that helps it to load the driver for recognition.Formatting the player again could help also. In the past I have had to format more than once for a player to be seen by Windows.

• Re: Installation: Creative Zen Vision

Everytime since I got my new computer, I've been getting errors with installing Zen Vision: M. I get errors during installation. It tells me something about DoInstall in most of them and also CTinstall. I've installed it about 6 times already. Also, after installation, there's no icon or application for Zen Vision: M I looked all over the folder for it. I'll go and reinstall it, and post the errors I get.

It's been a while since I've used my Zen and tried the installation CD. The whole thing started when I first reformatted?my computer. I appreciate your help rummor and I've tried putting the installer in my HDD. It still doesn't work. I still get the same errors. I doesn't?seem to be the CD since the installation CD seems to be working fine with other computers and i've also tried it on?a friend's?laptop which worked too. They all seem to work on other PCs but mine. I tried again recently to install?the software but I still get the errors. The Creative Zen Media Player seems to work when I install it. The product registration, the audible manager,?and the video converter also work. All those I can use but the Zen Vision: M Explorer. Help would be very much appreciated. Thank you.
