Creative Zen vs Creative Vision M question regarding d

Ok im traveling a lot so i descided to purchase one of those players so i can watch moovies . The problem is that i like the creative zen but i read that there is a problem with this model regarding the divx playback well not much of a problem but its still pain in the neck if you need to convert every video file to 320x240 everytime you wana watch something wich is not the case with the Vision M model with wich you just need to upload the moovie into the device from what i hear is there any truth to that because that will determine wich one i choose or that problem has been solved already !

What about direct playback in the vision M series do you need to convert the file to 320x240 divx format in order to play it or it will play anything with curent resolution lower than 720xXXX ?

  • Downloads for Creative Zen mp3 player Vision: M (30

My new Zen 6GB freezes up in mid-40 degree temperatures and won't reset. It just gets stuck, then the battery goes dead, and it wont restart until fully charged again. When it's cold I can't even reboot it with a paper clip. If I leave it in the car for more than an hour the same thing happens. Is this a known problem I never had these problems with the godawful iPod. I can't imagine it's "normal" for it to be unusable outdoors whenI bought the black Creative Zen mp3 player Vision: M (30 GB) back in August 2007, and both discs that came with product are lost, and I need to desperately replace them. I know where the download section on the Creative website is, the problem is that I do not know which two programs came with my player initially, thus I do not know what to download. Can anyone tell me the names of the discs that come with this model so I would be able to download the correct two programs Thank you kindly. John it's 5 degrees above freezing. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure that won't work on a Mac.
Check the install disk, it might say what systems are supported. If not, look at the files on the disk. If they're all named like PC files they're likely for a PC. If the disk has a Mac partition the files will look like they have Mac-style icons and names.
I also note that Macs don't use an 'autoplay wizard'; that's a PC thing.

  • Creative Zen and Creative Media Sourc

A couple of years back I bought a creative MP3 player and it came with Creative Zen Touch software. Just recently I purchaed a new laptop that came with Creative Media Source 5. I used to use the Creative Zen Touch to load my music cds and transfer files from my computer and my MP3 player. My question is since now I have Creative Media Source 5 (along with Creative Li've! Cam and Sound Blaster Audigy) do I even need to load the Creative Zen Touch software on my new laptop inorder to transfer music files from my MP3 player and my laptop. Thank you in advance.

Ok.... I tried many times to put the PlaysForSure "firmware" on my actual player (I have version .0.03). The problem is I can not figure out how to actually put the firmware onto my MP3 player. Can someone please help me with this as I am leaving for Iraq VERY soon and I need to get the MP3 player to be recognized by Creative 5 and Windows Vista (32-bit). Thanks in advance.

If you're new laptop is a Vista system, you won't have to load any software drivers for the Touch, but you'll have to update your Touch to PlaysForSure firmware since Creative doesn't do Vista drivers for the MP3 players. If your laptop is an XP system, and you're on V.x firmware, you'll need to load the drivers so that MediaSource can recognize the Touch.

  • Creative Zen V & Creative R

Well my third Creative Zen V has just failed, the first one failed within days due to a complete screen failure. The second and third units both failed the same way, they keep freezing. Both within weeks of operation, it is not as if they led a hard life, they were only ever used when flying.
Finally my third one, bought as gift to the girlfriend has started locking up, reset doesn't matter because it boots and then freezes almost straight away. The recovery method does not work.
I finally went back and fished out my Creative Zen Micro, which incidently failed outside its warrenty. Took it apart and fixed it, the design and quality of Creative's connection of the headphone jack to the pcb left a lot to be desired.
So to anyone reading this looking at buying a Creative MP3 player, my advice would be don't. To substantiate this, look at the threads below this one, at the time of writing this nearly all of them are negati've relating to product failure.

Mine locked up constantly when I first bought it but we used the recovery tools and methods as suggested by creative and have had no further problems at all!! Try it! The zen v plus is cool and hubby and I both own one and use them for hours every day!

  • Creative Zen Plus & Creative Soundblaster Audigy 4. Can the two be linked in any w

Hello and good morning. I've an extensi've collection of music consisting of 35,000 tracks which I play through my Creative Soundblaster Audigy 4 via my hi fi system. In order to access these tracks when using the Creative Zen Plus, I notice it calls up only the file name which is a time consuming effort to get tracks transferred. To your knowledge,is there a way to use the Creative Soundblaster to 'drag and drop' individual tracks straight into the Creative Zen using the 'burn now' facility?
Any help and assistance would be highly appreciated. Thank you very much indeed for your help.
    Alan L.

Didn't your soundcard come with MediaSource? If so, you can transfer the tracks that have already been converted to MP3 or WMV format directly to your player. MediaSource also displays the content by ID3 Tag titles once they've been entered into the Music Library.

  • Fixing the creative zen xtra - creative firmware won't bring me dow

    Hi all,
Recently my zen xtra crashed as a result of Creative's shoddy firmware! Anyway, I'm out of warrenty, creative want to try charge me about 20 quid and I ain't having that (read my other posts you'll hear the whole story)
Well now I've decided I'm gonna try fix things myself. I've ripped my player apart to reveal the 2.5" harddri've. I've got hold of a caddie to hold this in and connected to the computer. Dri've is not recognised (as i suspected, the firmware has corrupted toc and whathaveyou). So I'm formatting the dri've now, seems to be going ok (i'm thinking if I can't get the player working again at least I can make a 40gb external mini hard dri've)
Anyway, what I need now is to compare this hard dri've to another zen xtra one thats working and well. If anyone has (for some bizarre reason) backed up their zen dri've in this way cause you let me know. I need to know the file structure that it uses (as the software hides the real structure) and also the firmware (a working copy please!) that is as how it is installed rather than by using the installation software for the more conventional way :smileytongue:
Any help with that is appreciated, and those of you who are like me and have a ?200 paperweight should consider making it an external dri've like this also. (cheap caddies on ebay for those who want to know!)
    hope this helps
    phil

if i get a friend's zen xtra dri've and put it in mine, would you reckon it would work or am i likely to bugger up that too?
if the firmware is part in hardware then i doubt there's a lot i can do, but my intention was to copy my friend's dri've to mine then put it in and see if it works...
    any ideas?

  • Windows Vista and Creative Zen Touch/ Creative Media Sou

Hey there, I just got a shiny new laptop with Windows Vista (32 bit) and would like to install the media source player. Unfortunately I lost the CD with the installation long time ago. I downloaded all kinds of files for the Zen (the media player and the drivers) from the Creative site, but I just can't get it to work. Can anyone please tell which files I need to download and in which order That would be lovely! Many thanks,Julia

I would work through the reset procedures given under the various FAQ threads and then try the firmware upgrade again after getting it out of recovery mode as that seems to be the issue. There seem to be a number of threads with things to try. I would not give up but first work through the various suggestions to get it out of recovery mode. Then post separately re the recovery mode problem to see if anyone has ideas for solving that first. Did it go into recovery mode immediately after the firmware upgrade? Will it let you try to do the firmware again? When I connect it takes about 20 secs before the player is recognized by media player. In terms of transfer to your own laptop - do you have a burner on the friends PC for burning a DVD or 2. Or a slower way is multiple transfers using a USB memory stick.

  • Questions about Creative Zen MP3 Players.....which one to b

I had a Rio Carbon 6GB and I really love it (until it died on me), and I heard that Creative Zen 8GB, Creative Zen Micro 8 GB, Creative Zen V Plus?8GB are good choices to buy? I have readed all reviews from PC World, CNET, MSN, and all three sound good, but what are main differences between them that I need take in to consideration before I buy? I also I have read that you can replace the battery in all of them....is this true? What is the battery life before it needs to be replaced and how much? Thanks

If you listen to a lot of audiobooks, then I personally recommend the Zen V Plus 2, 4 or 8 GB. It doesn't have a user replaceable battery.
The battery is is built into the player. The audiobooks and albums seem much easier to find and use than on the Zen Micro. You can find these players on the Creative Savings Center refurbished for about half the price of a new player. (The Zen Micro, you can find on eBay used The refurbished Zen V Plus Players I have received when ordering, have been brand new and work just fine. They have a 90 day parts/labor warranty. I consider the 2GB Zen V Plus to be a throw-away(when or if it breaks after the warranty) at $35.99 plus shipping.

  • New Creative Zen Firmware Upgrade Borked - update: I think it's fi

    Hello!
I got a new 6gb Creative Zen today. Have a question:
    1. I upgraded the firmware after the original CD load. There were 4 critical updates. However, after all that ran, the Zen is messed up - I get a screen that has Clean Up, Format All, Reload Firmware and Reboot. When I tried to reboot I get a Reload Firmware message. I cannot get into the system at all.
I'm sure I'll have more questions later. Thanks for the help!Message Edited by Gankaku on 0-6-200809:0 PM
EDIT: I re-downloaded the firmware from the site and reinstalled and maybe things are ok now? I have access to the player from a Windows window. Hopefully all is well now.Message Edited by Gankaku on 0-6-200809:37 PM

My microphoto is doing the exact same thing. When I boot to recovery mode and select any of the options the player freezes while trying to execute the task. For example if I select 'clean up' the 'scan disk...' window comes up and immediately freezes. The only option in recovery mode that functions is the restart option, but when I restart it freezes at the creative logo again.
Ideally I would like to upgrade the firmware, but like traceinnabox my computer does not recognize the player...
This seems to be a problem that is not unique to me. Has anyone else experienced this and found a solution?

  • What are the defects that occur in the Creative Zen produc

Hi! I am new to all these MP3 players (I am still stuck in the CD player era) but I have been wanting to upgrade to a new, high tech player. After researching for a LONG time (I have considered the Creative Zen micro, Creative Zen Micro photo, Ipod mini, Ipod Nano, 4th gen Ipod, Cowan Iaudio, Olympus M:Robe500i, and Archos Gimini 402) I have concluded with the Creative products, that unlike the Ipods, have more features for the same price or lower. I briefly thought about the IAudio and the Archos since they play movies but decided that they were too expensi've. Plus, it having a removable battery was enticing since do not li've int he United States and I wouldn't have to be sending things in for repair or replacement of battery.
Now, I was very pumped about the Zen Micro but have since learned that there are a few defects.
the Creative Zen micro, from what I gathered, has a problem that the player stops working and only boots up to the Creative logo. I think I understand that this comes from something disconnecting from the HD inside. ANOTHER problem seems to be the earphone jack breaking and being pushed in.
I want to know if this is fixed in any of the versions of the Zen Micros. I think I heard that the 5GB ones are the ones that do this. If anything, i would get the 6 GB version and would like to know if the 6GB Zen Micros do this. It is at Best Buy for $50 plus tax ($60+ total).
I am also considering ordering the Zen Micro Photo (though it costs $40 bucks more just for color) form Best Buy ($202 total). Does the Zen Micro Photo fix the problems of the past players? Does it have any new defects?
Another player I am interested in is the Zen Sleek, which is the same price of the Zen Micro Photo, but has 2 GB more (though I don't really need it). It doesn't have color but whatever. Does this player have any of the previous defects or any defects at all? Can I use it to transfer files, like the the Micros can (I assume the Micro Photo can also) without having to install software on a PC (like the whole partition thing from the Micros). Does it have a removable Battery?
ANY HELP would be appreciated. I am a very cautious buyer and I do not want to hassle with stuff. I li've in the Dominican republic and I do NOT want to go shipping stuff overseas to get it fixed. That is why I am buying a Zen product, since it has removable Batteries and I don't have to send it in to get replaced. I do not want to spend 00 bucks and 3 months of waiting for things.
Also, on any defect, what seems to be the percentage? I know creative has not acknowledged any defects but there obviously are, since things happen to the same product, the same way, the same place.
Thanks for any help, again. Sorry for being so lengthy. I just like to have as much info down. It is that that Best Buy deal is too good.

    I wouldn't call this a common problem.
ANOTHER problem seems to be the earphone jack breaking and being pushed in.
Not sure about being pushed in, but the solder connection on some Micros was too weak and easily broken.
No-one knows for sure if it was fixed. Creative Support didn't confirm or deny it had been fixed on the board here. Others have had emails from Creative saying that it has been fixed in newer players.
I am also considering ordering the Zen Micro Photo (though it costs $40 bucks more just for color) form Best Buy ($202 total). Does the Zen Micro Photo fix the problems of the past players? Does it have any new defects?
People say the sound quality isn't as great as past players, and there is some slight noise when the backlight is turned on. Aside from not being able to view photos and listen to music at the same time. Search back for reviews by other folks.
Another player I am interested in is the Zen Sleek, which is the same price of the Zen Micro Photo, but has 2 GB more (though I don't really need it). It doesn't have color but whatever. Does this player have any of the previous defects or any defects at all?
The Sleek seems to be a great player. I don't recall seeing any common issues with it.
Can I use it to transfer files, like the the Micros can (I assume the Micro Photo can also) without having to install software on a PC (like the whole partition thing from the Micros). Does it have a removable Battery?
It doesn't have a removable battery.
It has the MTP/PFS firmware that means you can only use it to copy audio files with Win XP.
It has the USB mass storage function that means you can copy data files to it with Win 98/Me/2000 and XP.
Also, on any defect, what seems to be the percentage? I know creative has not acknowledged any defects but there obviously are, since things happen to the same product, the same way, the same place.
No-one except Creative knows these figures.

  • Java platform for Creative Zen X-fi

Would it be possible for someone to create a java platform for the creative zen X-Fi?

%Re: Creative Zen or Creative Zen X-FIE hi
i have Zen X-FI 6gb only and bought it last September.
    i want to say that
Zen X-FI = Zen + speaker + EP 830 + wireless lan + more EQ( i think X-Fi crystalize is just another EQ )+ more buttons.
i love the player and the headphone.
    the sound is clear.
but i seldom use the wireless function.
and i think the battery isn't strong enough for me.
my fingers aren't to big to handle the buttons so it isn't a problem.
fortunately, the player works fine except the sortware.it is a little bit confused.
    this is my opinion.
    hope it hel

  • Creative Zen Vision M question!

Creative Zen Vision M question!?Hey guys, I'm not from US but I hope you will understand my english anyway .
    So here's my question:
Is there any legal way to get one of "creative zen vison m" players? I prefer new products... 60gb would be awesome..
Since Im fed up with Apple and got already n Touch i simply want a player with a good capacity and just to listen to music... and i pretty much liked the creative zen vision m player... more than any new product from creative... all of em are more like multimedia and not "classy"....
Furthermore I just find the product over google at customers site... if i browse all mp3players from creative I cant find the product i want.... It would be awesome if anyone knows a way to get a new one of these... and it would be kickass if it could get delieverd to EU/Austria
At the end, thx for all the upcoming posts n answers and a picture of the desired product:
    <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="http://img.tomshardware.com/de/2006/02/06/zen_vision_m_creative_antwort_auf_den_ipod/vision02.jpg"]http://img.tomshardware.com/de/2006/02/06/zen_vision_m_creative_antwort_auf_den_ipod/vision02.jpg[/url]

really? :/ I dont like ebay and would prefer a new product... is there no other solution? Like writing to the customers and make out a good price for em to get a new of zen vision m?
Otherwise, i know it doesnt fit here, but does any knows an "classy" player with about 30-60gig... like ipod classic, just for music n maybe photos... I dont need any multimedia .. got touch already...
If anyone knows a good one which looks nice post here, would be awesome
(I hope asking for other brands is allowed :S, otherwise sorry)

3)can anyone suggest any completey safe music stores i can use to get my music.(last time i downloded a music place to get my music from called share it almost destoyed my comp.
    4) if not would i be able to burn my songs from itunes and use the c.d. to put them on my creative?
thank you so much i'v looked all over the internet and i could't hide any answers.

. There are MANY transmitters out there. I recommend searching back for past threads with recommendations.
    2. Yes, if they are in a suitable format.
    3. I already gave you a link in a previous question to a thread all about this. Please don't post duplicate questions.
    4. With iTunes you either need to burn the tracks to a CDRW, then convert to MP3/WMA, or use a program like JHymn to convert (Google JHymn).

  • Creative Zen Vision M (30gb) - Is it the end?

    Hi all,
I've read a lot of posts and think the only way to find a possible solution to my problem is to just post it....
I've had my Creative Zen Vision M (30gb) for about?2.5 years, apart from crashing a few times, I've always loved it and would never go near Ipod!
Lately however it's done something, that it has done before which is to suddenly 'remove' about 2000 tracks, it would go funny, crash and reset a few times, recharge with the plug and it was fine again, the tracks 'reappeared'.
Now it seems when it happened this recent time, 3000 tracks went and I was left with about 000. So i tried formatting everything cause it just wouldn't rectify itself, then I chose to reload the firmware but everytime I tried to connect it to my laptop it would say my player wasn't connected.
I have recently baught a new laptop with Windows 7 and even without the software it detects it fine and I think I could just drag music over to it now. BUT - It only has 50mb of memory! Plsu MP3 Recovery Tool and online detection firmware thingy justy doesn't think my player is connected or says cannot update firmware on windows 7?
So my questions?are - how do i fix it's Is my memory fried, would it be worth getting out the old laptop? Where do i go if i want to repair it's Even if it detects it in XP, the software doesn't detect the player.
Can anyone shine any light here? Am I forced to buy another Creative product or do I jump ship?

If the XP computer has WMP installed it may not detect the player (the firmware file) It works best on XP /SP2 WMP0 installed. The issue with WMP is a sticky in the MP3 players forum.
