Creator Install Problems on Mac OS X - 10.3.7.

Problems installing Creator on Mac OSX. After uncompressing the download, I run the command to start the install from the new "Creator" volume. All is good. The command opens up a terminal window and executes it's little script, finds Java, kicks off the GUI and all is well. Install is over, all good, I get "the end" and "logout" in the terimanl window. So
However, after succesfull install, every time I open a terminal, it now tries to run this same darn command.
AND IT DOES FOR ANY SHELL I HAVE.
When and if I login with a different user, other then my default account, no issues.
If anybod has any ideas, please help.
Oh yeah, if I execute the uninstall command, all is clean, uninstall works, I manually remove .Creator from my home dir.
ANY time I start the terminal, for any shell, it still has that damn command :-)

Hi,
I'm not sure what command you speak of. When you
install creator you can just run it using the icon it
created for you, there should be no need to run any
command from a terminal.
Regards jPJP, I am talking about the cnd to start the install. After clean good install, every time I try to open a terminal window, it tries to run the install command, i.e. start the install. Sorry for the confusion.

Are you certain there's no traces of MacKeeper left?
I have no idea how they can get away with advertising MacKeeper at all.
You really really need to uninstall it, but maybe not using their uninstaller.

Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
Reboot & see if Flash Installer works.

WinXP Home install problems on Mac Pro

Hi,
I have a brand new Mac Pro Dual 2.66GHz. It came with a second GeForce 7300GT installed. I installed additional 2x 1GB FB DIMMs. Everything worked fine, and I installed all new updates, including the new EFI Firmware update Apple introduced yesterday. After the OS X setup was complete, I downloaded BootCamp 1.1.2 and followed the instructions to create a 30GB partition for Windows XP Home. I insert the WinXP CD and let BootCamp restart the computer. WinXP boots and the blue screen appears and a bunch of drivers get loaded. After that I get the first install screen, and on that point the keyboard is not responding anymore. I can press "return" as often as I want, the install does not start. It also not responds to F3 or R as written on the screen. Its the first time Windows gets installed on this Mac Pro. I also tried to connect the keyboard directly to the computer (before it was on the cinema display hub). I tried to remove the RAM to have only the standard 1GB RAM installed. Nothing worked.
Anyone have a hint to get this done? Thanka a lot on advance!

I already thougt about that, but Apple put a note on the page:

"Note: This CD cannot be used to return an Intel-based Macintosh computer’s firmware to a previous version if a successful update has already been performed."
So because I did a successful fimware update, I can not go back to the old firmware! There is no way back!

I'm on a Mac, OSX 10.4.11, and having major problems installing the latest version of Flash player.
I downloaded it, closed Safari 4.1.3, then installed Flash player. I have my preferences set on Safari to enable plug-ins. So far, so good.
But when I re-open Safari and go to a site where I need Flash, it says I'm missing the plug-in. When I go to Adobe,com for it to test what version of Flash I have, it says I'm missing the plug-in.
Previous versions of Flash have worked perfectly. What am I doing wrong????

CF 7.0.2 install problems on Mac OS

I am new to Cold Fusion and am having problems installing CF
7.0.2 developer version on my Mac PowerPC G5 OS 10.4.8 (NOT intel).
I selected CF's built in web server and it said it installed on
port 8500. The first part of the installation went well then I got
to the configuration and settings migration wizard, typed in the
password and it said configuring server, please wait. Then I got a
JRun servlet error 500 null. If I try to go directly using
http://127.0.0.1:8500/CFIDE/administrator/index.cfm,
I get the same thing. Cold Fusion is running, and when I look at
the cfserver.log it shows Starting Macromedia JRun 4.0 (Build
92909), coldfusion server. I read in other threads that JRun 4 must
be used rather than 5, but it looks like it is. Furthermore, if I
try to create a site in Dreamweaver MX 2004, it doesn't allow me to
add a database source (there is no + sign there).
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm very frustrated
and anxious to get started!

You seem to have actually been doing it right. however, you
stopped halfway.

I think it
did work -- in the background. You are not supposed to
observe anything much. That command's job is simply to remove the
alias CurrentJDK. It must have done so, which would explain why
repeating the command returned "no such file".
You had to run two commands in tandem, thus
sudo rm CurrentJDK
sudo ln -s 1.4.2 CurrentJDK
The first removes the current alias, the second creates a new
1.4.2 alias.

Illustrator CS5 Instalation Problem on Mac OSX 10.5.8

I have tried instaling this software multiple times and am getting errors in the program that reinstalling doesn't seem to fix.
Here are the errors I'm getting:
When opening a new document, I get the error: "Can't locate the Startup Profiles. Please try after installing Illustrator again. Illustrator will now attempt to create a default document"
When quitting Illustrator, I get the error: "The Application Adobe Illustrator CS5 quit unexpectedly after it was relaunched. Mac OSX and other applications are not affected. Click relaunch to launch the application again. Click Report to see more details or to send a report to Apple"
I saved the report in case this is needed.
After browsing user forums, I attempted to reinstall using the following steps:
1) Before attempting any reinstallation, I deleted the folder drive/users/username/library/Preferences/Adobe Illustrator CS5 Settings/
2) Unstalled Illustrator using the uninstaller package that comes with Illustrator.
3) Removed shortcut from menu
4) Reinstalled Software.
Please advise.

After downloading CS5 I ran into multiple permissions errors, this is no exception.
The following folder needs Read & Write access:
Macintosh HD:Users:(Your User Name):Library:Application Support:Adobe:Adobe Illustrator CS5
You can change this access by selecting "Get Info" on this folder, then adjust the Sharing & Permissions options so everyone can Read & Write.
NOTE: This addresses the startup profiles only; crashing on quit is a separate issue.
When you open up Illustrator this time and try to create a new document, Adobe magically creates a "en_US" folder within the Adobe Illustrator CS5 folder that couldn't be added before.

Flash Player 9 Install Problems on Mac OS X

I just installed the Flash Player 9 on my Power PC based Mac
OS X 10.3.9 and now no Flash elements work in Safari 1.3.2, or even
Explorer (which I don't use). I have been sure to close all
browsers, uninstall first etc. The installations appears to
complete successfully, but I get the following error message on any
page that has flash:
The page “Adobe” attempted to load an Internet
plug-in named “Shockwave Flash”, but the plug-in failed
to load successfully.
Worse yet, any attempts to install on older version of the
player now give me the same error. I can no longer view any Flash!
If anyone can help (Adobe!), it would be much
appreciated.

Many, many thanks to primes235. AFter hours of trying to
uninstall, reinstall, etc., I used his directions (see step 1,
etc., on his 12/16/06 post. I was able to drag those files (enable
file sharing IF you are networked) from another computer, and all
is working fine now. These files were not really invisible/hidden;
just be sure you delete the ones specified before moving the new
ones.

Either that site is buggy, or the new flash is. From the
comments before this, I don't expect a reply from Adobe either. I
tried calling them, but no luck. Crappy customer/tech support. Hope

Somewhere at either Macworld or here I learned that DVDSP 2, DVDSP 3 and now DVDSP 4 "internally" are major re-writes.
Support for HD among a few other items along with QT 7 which comes with Tiger means sincerely that one set of applications/OS is not going to be stable.
Personally I think of all the issues possible its DVDSP vs QT.
Unless you move to DVDSP v4 the alternative is to wipe the disk and go back to Jaguar (10.2) or perhaps Panther but avoid upgrading QT beyond 6. I advocate wiping the disk because I'n not sure an archive and install to down shift to an earlier version of the OS is possible. If it is I'd still worry about mis-matched files in all sorts of locations.

I bougnt a full master pack CS6 which I had installed on a mac for one year. Then, I decided to change it to another computer, so I sisintalled it according to instructions. In the meantime I got a free trial of creative cloud on that computer, but I gave up and decided to reinstall my cd-roms. However, everytime I try to use acrobat for instance it says that my trial period ran out! I disinstalled my cloud products, I am using my registered full master series items, they have nothing whatsoever to do with my creative cloud FREE subscription. If I try to cancel my free membership, it is to no avail, there simply is no such possiblity. I want to use the software I paid dearly for, not the cloud items I disinstalled and which do not interest me. How can I contact Adobe to fix it? It was no fault of mine, I did all I was supposed to, disintalling items before installing the right ones, but the system must have some error i am not responsible for.

I am attempting to install the Apple USB driver 1.4.1 on my PowerMac 7600/132 to be able to use a newer printer. This computer does not have internet access and is a stand alone financial computer running Quick Books Pro.

I did this years ago when I had a PM6500 running 8.6 & added a USB PCI card, but know I didn't have the problem you are having.
When I downloaded from the link you provided, I got this file USBCard_Support1.4.1.smi.bin. After using Stuffit Expander, I got this file +USB Card Support 1.4.1.smi+, which is the installer. I don't have a Mac running 8.6, so I can't try the install.
Suggest you do this. Put the smi.bin file in a folder on your desktop & then uncompress using Stuffit. This will yeild the .sim file. Then double click the .sim file. Did you get the message "+Please insert the disc: USB Adapter Card Support+" when you double clicked the .sim file? Or some other file?
When you downloaded the smi.bin file did you use a Mac or a PC & then put on a Zip disc? What computer did you use to uncompress to get the .sim file?

Adobe Photoshop CS5 for Mac install problem.

I just purchased Adobe Photoshop CS 5 for Mac and installed it on December 17, 2013. Last week I updated to a new harddrive. I am trying to re-install Photoshop and the disc asks all the usual questions: serial number, Adobe ID, Adobe Password, then the disk kicks out and says done. I open the applications folder and the Adobe Photoshop folder only has one file with 30 KB. Obviously, Photoshop will not open.

I was concerned that Adobe Photoshop CS6 would require me to update my computer to Mac OS 10.8. I updated from Mac OS 10.6.8 to 10.7.5 and lost my old InDesign and my old Photoshop. I purchased InDesign CS6. I read online that Photoshop CS6 was having problems with Mac OS 10.7.5 so I went with Photoshop CS5. I went to Best Buy and Simply Mac to try and purchase the program. They both told me to just go online and buy it. Nobody said go directly to Adobe. The problem is that I am just a homeowner that is not in the know about all these products. My wife is a school teacher and I could have purchased an education version. I thought, no I will just go ahead and purchase the full retail version.
The problem with Adobe is they think everyone is a computer geek and knows all about operating systems and programs. I am just a normal homeowner that is being taken advantage of by Adobe. Adobe manufactured and sold this product to a retail dealer. The product I purchased has never been licensed and I paid full retail for it. Now Adobe will not stand behind it!

No you can't. Renaming grading layers is a features since version 7 a.k.a. CC. Time to upgrade?

Install problems, won't recognize Mac HD

A few days ago I had a problem with my computer in that it would not startup in "Mac" mode. I have boot camp and it does start up in Windows w/o any problems. So, I reinstalled the software and it still didn't work. I was going to try to reinstall one more time (was going to do an erase and install), but now it won't give me the option of installing on the Mac HD. It only gives me the option of installing on the Windows partition, which is a very small partition on my HD. When I use the option key to start up, it gives me the option of EFI boot or Windows, where it used to say Mac HD or Windows. Is my hard drive dead? I appreciate your help!!

Your GPT (GUID Partition Table) map is hosed.
I hope your data is backed up.
There is a little program called Test Disk that may be able to repair
the GPT partition table.

Problem installing Silverlight on Mac running Yosemite 10.10.2

I've been using a streaming service successfully last year and re-signed up today. When I tried to pick a video I was presented with a window indicating I needed to install silverlight and it provided a link. To make a long story short I've tried
installing silverlight (using the stream service's link which was the Microsoft download page) and using it with Firefox and Safari and get to response from the streaming site. Checking Activity Monitor all that appears installed is Silverlight
preferences. When I click on 'Microsoft Silverlight.app all it shows is a 52 bit alias. Each subsequent install I first removed EVERY file related to silverlight. I'm stumped. Thanks.
