Credentials are required prompt -- won't go away

Hi,
We have several users that are receiving a credentials prompt when signing in to Lync.  It is not everyone, and it is not on every machine.  For example, I sign in fine on my machine, but on a resource PC I get prompted for cred's.  This began
happening about 1 week ago.  It won't accept the creds.  Also, I cannot erase the box "Account:"
The message: Type your user name and password to connect to the certificate service.
2008 R2 Domain
Lync 2010 FE server
Lync client version 4.0.7577.4446
I checked all the normal things, accounts/PWs, etc.  No go.
If I run Certmgr.msc and compare two PCs, the one that works fine has certs issued by "Communications Server" listed under Certificates - current user > Personal > Certificiates.  On the machine that prompts for creds there are no certs
there.
Also interesting... If I hold Ctrl and right click icon, to look at configuration information, I see MAPI is working fine on one and Unavailable on the other.
So how do I force lync to issue a cert?
I should mention that for a few weeks we have been attempting to configure a lync edge and reverse proxy server.  Neither of those work.  The reverse proxy is offline, and didn't affect this issue.
Thanks in advance,
Todd
Todd Wollin

Hi,
As the issue not happen only for several users, it can be a Lync client issue. So you can firstly do the following checkpoints on local computer:
For the issued computers, please check if they have the Root certificate in the local certificate store.
Exist Lync client, then delete Lync user profile and Register information, then rerun Lync client to check the issue again.
Make sure the issued Lync client update to the latest version, and then test again.
Best Regards,

  • SQL Server 2014 SSRS Login Prompt won't go away

    Hi,
I'm attempting to set up SQL Server Reporting Services on one of my environments.  The architecture is:
Database Server: SQL Server 2014 hosting my databases as well as the ReportServer / ReportServerTempDB databases
SSRS Server: SQL Server 2014 with just SSRS installed, hosting the web front end
I created a new SSRS database using the SSRS configuration manager.
When I log into the website on the local machine (http : // localhost/reports),
I'm prompted for my credentials once and once I authenticate (domain\username), everything works as expected.  However, when I attempt to access the server remotely (either http or https : // reportserver.domain.com/reports)
I'm prompted for my credentials at least 12 times.  If I keep re-entering them, the SQL Server Reporting Services Home folder/website will eventually re-appear, but if I try to navigate, I'm once again prompted for my credentials.
I did some research and verified that my AuthenticationTypes in the rsreportserver.config file was set to only RSWindowsNTLM.
Additional environment info: both servers are hosted on AWS, and we are using an ELB to access the SSRS webserver.  I'm using IE11 to attempt web access.
    Thanks!

    Hi Rob,
I am not sure why you are using the -A while setting up the SPN, Use  -S to set the SPN and make sure you delete the old one(setspn -D HTTP/<server> domain\user )
Use the following command line to set the SPN
    SETSPN –S HTTP/hostname.abc.com:<portnumber> DOMAIN\ServiceAccount
Note: The config file for reporting services also needs to be updated to allow Windows
    authentication. Do the following:
    1. Locate the installation directory of the reporting server instance.
    2. Open the ‘rsreportserver.config’ with a text editor such as Notepad.
    3. Find the following XML parameters
    <Authentication>
    <AuthenticationTypes>
    <RSWindowsNTLM/>
    </AuthenticationTypes>
    4. Change the value
    ‘RSWindowsNTLM’ to ‘RSWindowsNegotiate
    Hope This Helps
    Thanks

  • Flash player download prompt won't go away

When viewing a certain web page that features movies, I get a prompt that reads "Content on this page requires a newer version of Adobe Flash Player. Do you want to download it now?". Clicking "OK" leads me to the Adobe download page (apparently legitimate), and, after going through the download process on three separate occasions (again, apparently successfully), I still get the prompt. Not a huge problem, admittedly, but annoying.
    Any helpful hints?

I too am having the same problem. both my flash and shockwave players are fully up to date and confirmed on the adobe page.
Really not sure why. My mate who has a G5 iMac has the same problem on the same site. Is it a Leopard thing?
We are web developers, and we actually made that site, and the .swf exported was made to be compatible with version 5. so not sure what the problems is. Just annoying.

  • Password prompt won't go away

Trying this again as I can't get any joy.
My iMac will go to sleep but after 1 - 2 hours the password prompt will come up and stay there.  I have the latest version of Mountain Lion (10.8.2), I have all programs closed, I've run every clean up utility in Onyx, changed the battery in my Trackpad, restarted the iMac and it still won't stop doing this.
It only seems to have started in the last week or two and I have had Mountain Lion longer than that, in fact it seems to be since I got my iPhone 5 which I have had a lot of trouble syncing - maybe something to do with iTunes upgrade for iOS 6??
Any help greatly appreciated as it's already burnt an image of the password prompt on the screen and I have to do a full shut down after every use and start it up again when I want to use it.
Things are so bad I'm thinking of getting a Windows machine so you can see help is urgently needed :)

Looks like the keyboard is the problem!  After disconnecting everything it stayed asleep. As I'd already tried leaving it with no trackpad it looked like disconnecting the keyboard was what made the difference.  I tried an old keyboard I had and it's still sleeping soundly!
    Thanks for your input Mundas.

  • "more storage space needed" prompt won't go away.  Can't power off iPad to do so either.  Suggestions?

The "Need more storage space" prompt came up, and has options to close or go to settings.  It's frozen, but active.  Neither option works.  Stuck on screen and can't do anything else, beyond activate suri.  Suggestions?

Hold Sleep and Home buttons until the iPad restarts, so you will be able to use it again

  • "Enter Password" prompt won't go away without Force Quitting Mail

Hi, I've been having this problem for a few weeks now. I have Mail at work set to always ask me for my password for a POP account (the only account setup in Mail). The problem is that if I don't type in the password correctly the first time, then I'm stuck with the "Enter Password for Account..." dialog box. Entering the correct password and pressing 'OK' or clicking 'Cancel' or pressing the Esc key doesn't work. The dialog box just stays open. The only way for me to get rid of it is Force Quit Mail and make sure I type it correctly the first time.
We have a million different accounts at work and they're all set to expire the password very often (without letting me re-use old passwords) so the chances of me typing an incorrect password are always pretty high...
I'm on a new Intel iMac, 2.4GHz, 4GB RAM, with Leopard up-to-date. I've tried deleting the account entirely and re-creating it, but the problem happened again.

Any thoughts? I've tried repairing permissions and also deleting my mail preferences file, but the problem still pops up.

  • Skype download icon won't go away?

Last night I downloaded Skype on my MacBook Air that I bought a few weeks ago.
I downloaded it from Skype.com, and everything seemed normal. I can now call and talk to friends and family on Skype from my laptop. However, once Skype downloaded, an icon that looks very similar to a USB icon (except blue with the Skype logo) appeared on my desktop. I tried to eject it like a normal USB, and it worked, but the next time I opened up Skype, the icon appeared again. If I try to eject the icon while I am using Skype, a thing comes up saying that it can't be ejected because Skype is in use. I have talked to my other friends who also have a MacBook air an they didn't have this problem. It's just really annoying having this weird blue icon on my desktop, and I'm not sure why its there. Please let me know if you know how to fix this problem.

Is this the icon you're describing?
If so it sounds as though you downloaded Skype but didn't install it in your Applications folder.
To install it in Applications, first quit Skype.
Then, open the Skype "volume" icon pictured above and drag the Skype app icon in the direction of the arrow, as the graphic below shows:
You may be asked to authenticate with your login ID and password because that action is about to modify the contents of your Applications folder. If you are certain you downloaded Skype directly from Skype's website (http://www.skype.com/en/), then you're OK.
The only reason for mentioning this is that you should always know the reasons your credentials are being requested. It's your last defense against installing some junk you may not want.
Never supply your password in response to a popup window requesting it, unless you know what it is and the reason your credentials are required.
After Skype is copied to Applications, you can eject the icon on your desktop.
To launch Skype, open the Applications folder, or use Spotlight to find it. After it opens, drag the icon in the Dock (the row of icons along the bottom of your screen) to any other location in the Dock, where it will remain after quitting Skype.

  • HT1349 Last week I was prompted to do an update on my MacBook Pro which I did & now different things keep popping up asking for passwords for a keychain & it won't go away. I don't know what these are & I don't know how to access them. Help me please

Last week I was prompted to do an update on my Mac Book Pro which I did. Ever since I did the update a box keeps popping up asking for login info for my keychains & they won't go away. I have no clue what these keychains are & I don't know how to find them & know the passwords for each of them. Plus now I don't get my email on here either. Please help me...

Outside of the contact number for that you've already used I don't know another way of direct contact. Here are some things that they may or may not of had you try that might help you. If you will go to the settings app and pick general on the right-hand side you will see accessibility. Within that you can adjust a text size make the text bowl you can also increase the contrast. You can also adjust the brightness and control panel.
As for Siri again in the settings app under general you should see Siri on the right-hand side with the switch to turn it on. If that is turned on and you're still having issues
    Try a Restart.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
     Resetting your settings
You can also try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered. You won't lose any data, but it takes time to enter all of the settings again.
    Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Apple recommends this only if you are unable to restart it.
Or if this doesn't work and nobody else on the blog doesn't have a better idea you can contact Apple.
Here is a link to their contacts with most of the information below.

  • I can't download Ikea 3D kitchen planner.  It's really frustrating - a message is appearing on my mac book pro that I ned to get info and check that various files are unlocked.  I've checked that all other requirements are fulfilled, still won't download

I can't download Ikea 3D kitchen planner.  It's really frustrating - a message is appearing on my mac book pro that I ned to get info and check that various files are unlocked.  I've checked that all other requirements are fulfilled, still won't download.  Any help very gratefully received.  Thank you.

Hi, I'm not really very good with computers and am having the same problems when trying to install the Ikea 3D kitchen planner, please could you take me through the steps?
    1. Download (save) the disk image file 2020PluginInstaller.dmg
I double click on the link which says "Install 3D Planner"
    I agree to the t&cs
A file downloads to my download folder called 2020PluginInstaller_IKEA.dmg
    2. Mount the disk image (open/run the downloaded file) if not mounted automatically
I double click on the downloaded file
    3. Find the 2020PluginInstaller window (might be behind the window on top)
A small window opens up with a lego brick called 2020PluginInstaller_IKEA.dmg and a folder called Internet plug ins.  I highlight the lego brick and do File, Get info and unlock it
    4. Drag the lego piece to the folder (if you do not have admin privileges you will be prompted to authenticate)
I do this and put in a password to authenticate
    5. Restart the browser (it is not enough to close the browser window, you need to restart the browser
    application)
I've tried restarting Safari, I've tried re-starting the computer
    6. Access the same link and you will now see the Start button and be able to start planning your room!"
When I go back to the IKEA kitchen planner I don't see a start button, I just see the exact same screen as before prompting me to install the 3D planner
    Please can you help?

Please can anyone with a similar experience tell me what to do in this situation?

On my settings, there is a number one (red) that won't go away.  There are no updates that need to be done.

Maybe you should try updating 5.1.1 from iTunes? Because I had the same thing and it was 5.0.1.

  • Creative Cloud notification "Administration rights are required-" but nowhere to enter credentials

I told Creative Cloud (the menubar balloon) to go ahead and install CC 2014 updates, and left the computer to update. Later, I had to reboot the computer due to a power failure (all items now show as "Up to date" in the Apps tab). But I'm getting Notifications every 10 seconds saying, "Creative Cloud. Administration rights are required to complete Adobe Add-ons installation or removal." I'm happy to provide those credentials, but there is nowhere to type them! I've looked in all the tabs in the Creative Cloud balloon, and displayed all windows (so it's not hidden under something else).
SOLUTION: I quit Creative Cloud, then opened Creative Cloud again. The notifications are no longer displaying, and applications are all up to date. Apparently something was confused by the power outage.

  • How do I get rid of the blue "downloading the latest applications" bar which won't go away even after uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox?

Can't get rid of the blue "downloading the latest applications" bar that seems to be just hanging and won't go away. I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox, but the bar is still there after 2 days. I updated something (can't remember what!) on I.E., and it had the same blue bar, but it had a box I could x out of so it went away on I.E. I don't know why the blue bar is there on Firefox, as I did the update while on I.E.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== I updated an application while on Internet Explorer.

    Annette,
#In the menu bar, at the top of the Firefox window, Go to Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions.
    # Locate ''each ''of the following extensions by name and click the disable button
#Restart Firefox as prompted and see if the undesired toolbar has been removed.
#The extensions to disable are: '''Crawler Toolbar''', '''MP3 Rocket Toolbar''', '''MSN Toolbar''', '''Search Helper Extension'''
If you don't need some / all of those toolbars, consider leaving them disabled.
You can probably remove these toolbars permanently from Start -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs.

  • Help! Network error won't go away

I was setting up my Mac G4 running Tiger and was going to connect it to the network. I opened the Network Prefs and I get a drop-down error message that says "Your Network settings have been changed by another application."
This error message won't go away; if I click OK then the message just comes back. I have to force quit Network Preferences. There is no way to access network prefs while the error message appears. This message appears whether I'm connected (via ethernet) to the router or not.
I don't know what application could have changed my settings or how to change them back or how to make that error message go away. Any suggestions? Thanx.

    Hi Ken,
To stop the pop-up, Go to System Preferences: Security. Check the box next to "Require password to unlock each secure system preference." Then lock Security.
Try this cure for Security update...

  • Itunes playlistless music won't go away

    Hello,
Recently I switched the itunes I used to sync from Windows (Bootcamp) to OSX. I noticed in my library there was two of each song on my iphone (and my wife's ipod) So, I deleted all the music (by syncing no playlists) and looked at my phone and saw something peculiar: no playlists were on the phone but my entire music library was still there!
I can play the songs and they are taking up space on the iphone. I tried re-syncing with the old iTunes on Windows with no playlists and even though I pressed "erase and sync," the songs are still there.
So, basically there are songs on my iphone with no playlist that won't go away.
Note: I AM able to delete them manually by swiping the song and pressing delete, but I have 400+ songs! Not to mention three devices (iPhone, iPod, and iPad).
I was not able to find anyone with this problem on google. It's difficult to phrase this problem well.
    Anyone else experienced this?
    Thank you.

An older post said to login to your account within itunes; go to account information; then disable icloud and ping. Since I'm also on 10.6.8 there is no "disable iCloud" option. So this is what I did (and it worked) - from the Account page within iTunes Store (must be logged in):
    1. Ping was already disabled/off
    2. In the iTunes match section, I clicked "Learn More" then clicked "No thanks". Effectively turning off Match (it gets removed from the sidebar).
    3. Under "Settings" I turned off "Recommendations and Ping Postings".
I don't know which step - #2 or #3 actually made that login prompt no longer appear, but it doesn't so I'm happy.
Also, I had already disabled "Download updates automatically" in system preferences (and that didn't fix the iTunes problem). Note that I had that disabled that before I updated to 10.6.8 and the 10.6.8 re-enabled it. Not related, just mentioning in case that box needs to be unchecked too.
Other things you can try are in this Reset Warnings tip in this iTunes Windows thread (I didn't try it since the above worked for me):
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/18589065#18589065
