Credentials aren't working right

We are just getting started with iTunes U and when I give demos I want show the difference between authenticated and unauthenticated access. This worked before, than I started adding custom credentials and it stopped working.
So, I have removed the custom credentials, but iTunes is not recognizing the standard set (auth, unauth, and all).
Currently when I enter iTunes unauthenticated I see one section and one course in that section. I should see three sections and several courses or sub-Welcomes in each. Any idea what's going on? Thanks.

My headphone jack and speaker jack aren't working right....I think....

Hi everyone. Is it possible to damage just the left (or right) channel on the stereo out? I still don't have an audio interface yet, so I've been using the stock headphone jack for my headphones, and the stock speaker out for my Creature Speakers. They are both quieter on the left side. I think this has been happening for a couple of months, I just thought I was losing my hearing a bit on the left side, especially with headphones on. Turns out I'm OK, it's the stereo outs that aren't working right.
I found out that it's not me when I plugged in my active monitors, KRK Rokit 8s, and tried both speakers in iTunes, Garageband and Logic Pro. I played with the panning in both GB and LP, but the speakers on the left weren't as physically active/vibrating as much as the right. I did switch the inputs on the KRKs to make sure it was the channel and not the speakers.
The left channel isn't gone mind you, it just sounds quieter, more muffled with less high end. Maybe even a little distorted. I didn't want to turn it up to high to see if I could hear distortion clearly just in case.
I'm really really hoping that this isn't a hardware issue (I know that there's a 95% chance it is). I'm really hoping that there is a small preference or utility app that can control the panning of the systems output and I just don't know about it. I'm still holding out hope for that.
But if there's no hope and it is a hardware issue, any suggestions on what I should do?

Thank you so much for your help. It turns out that the left channel was turned down to almost half in the Audio MIDI Setup utility. That is a HUGE load off my mind.
The weird thing is I haven't used AMS since I set up my computer almost two years or so ago. I know I didn't turn it down. Hmmm....
Any thoughts in closing?

Tooltips aren't working right in Excel 2011, function help no longer appearing; any advice?

In Office 2011, excel tooltips aren't operating correctly. Upon typing a formula "=index(..." a tooltip used to appear providing contextual help; upon mouseover a datapoint on a chart use to surface a tooltip providing the actual data value, now just provides an empty tooltip box.
This problem has manifested after multiple reinstalls (erasing all microsoft related preference files and plists, following the MSFT sanctioned total uninstall procedure.)
BUT, if I create a new user account on my MBP, Excel works fine for that user.
Still not for me.
So frustrating.
Any help, ideas???

So I solved this. Buried in the excel preferences menu were options for function tips on hover and datapoint value display on hover.
Very strange that erasing all preferences and reinstalling excel didn't return these to default and unsure how they got unchecked in the first place...

Effects not working right?

I'm fairly new to iMovie and am working on a project featuring my car. I've been tinkering with effects and came up with a couple cool ideas but I was just playing around. Now I've actually started my project and there are 2 noticeable things that aren't working right that I could make work before. The first is I'm trying to add the rain effect to my opening title. The title is over black with white type, but after the rain effect renders the whole screen goes white and you can't see the rain or the title. This also happens with a couple of the other effects on the same title, but not with all effects. The fast/slow motion also is not working. Before I was able to cut a clip into 3 parts, add slow motion to the middle clip and make a cool shot of the car driving towards a big puddle, then when it hits the puddle it goes to slow motion as the water splashes, then back to regular speed. Well, neither the fast or slow motion are working with this project, but I've been able to make them work using a blank project that I was experimenting with, using the same exact video clips. Does anybody have any ideas as to why these things are happening? Thanks

that has, to be used with iM, BEFORE usage been formated/'erased' with the Disk Utility on your Mac to 'MacOsExtended'
.. out of the box, those drives are fat32 formatted.. good for any other app, but not for iM. ..

TS4268 My iMessages aren't working

My iMessages aren't working..iMessages are turned on but it won't send as an iMessage. I've turned my phone off n back on and still nothing. What's up with this phone?

I've been having an issue since last night. I sent a message to my girlfriend @ 8:11pm MT and never heard back. This morning, I checked my phone when I awoke and saw no messages, had 1% battery life and shortly thereafter, my phone died.
After a few minutes on the charger, it came back up. In the meantime, we were messaging back and forth, this time I was on my iPad and had no problems. She said she texted 5 times last night but I never received a single one of them on my phone, iPad or Mac.
When my phone came back up, I checked Messages to see if something was wrong and my # was grayed out and unselectable. So I disabled iMessage, waited a few minutes and re-enabled it. It would not accept my Apple ID credentials. I thought something was wrong so I went in and changed my password on the website. I had to log back into iCloud and iTunes and had no issues with either. iMessage kept saying the username or password was incorrect. So I created a NEW Apple ID using a different email adrdess right on my phone and attempted to login...no dice. Same crap.
So I turned iMessage off for about 3 hours, just re-enabled it AGAIN and it's the same crap. I'm so fed up with this. iMessage is a complete pain already trying to get it syncing across 3 devices but now? This is a total joke.

TS3048 Bluetooth and USB ports aren't working can't connect mouse or keyboard.

Bluetooth and USB ports aren't working, so am unable to use Imac past turning it on. There's no way to connect mouse or keyboard, it started right after a software update for Maverick (OS X bash Update 1.0 – OS X Mavericks), bluetooth symbol not showing in the task bar at all.

The symptom you're describing can be frustrating to troubleshoot as our options are limited. I do suggest resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) if you have not already. This step can help you regain use of USB and Bluetooth.
Follow these steps to reset the SMC on your iMac:
Resetting the SMC for Mac Pro, Intel-based iMac, Intel-based Mac mini, or Intel-based Xserve
Shut down the computer. [by holding down the power button]
Unplug the computer's power cord.
Wait fifteen seconds.
Attach the computer's power cord.
Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.

My songs aren't playing right! How do I fix this?

I just downloaded music and two of the songs won't play all the way through. I will be listening to the song and all of a sudden it starts playing another song, but the screen doesn't change. Like, it still says I am listening to the song from before. It's really weird and it kind of makes me mad because I paid 1.29 for those songs and if they aren't going to work right, then I want my money back. Does anyone know if you can delete the songs from the iPod and then download them again or something?

you may have to restore the ipod back to it's factory setting, in some cases this works but if the file doesn't play in iTunes, no matter how many times you try it won't fix it, so you have to find if the iTunes music file plays, if so than restore the ipod, if not then delete the song and re-import it to the library
quick resync and you're done

I am a developer and we have big project that needs to be
converted from winhelp to HTML help. I received only the .CHM help
file from the help auther. I added the HTMLhelp.lib file and
HTMLhelp.h file in to my project. I tried to change atleast one
page of the dialog. I added on helpinfo function htmlhelp function
call and hard coded the .chm file path and for the right click I as
well did the same thing. But I am getting "No Help topic is
associated with this item" upon F1 key and crash after the right
click with wincore.cpp error.

Safari 5.1.2 Not working right after install

Hi, after installing the update for Snow Leopard safari is not working right. Some pages don't load, and other don't load correctly.
I have to keep hitting refresh two or three times. Also thunbnails are not displaying. Even the apple page comes up looking buggy.
Please help!

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. First, disconnect all wired peripherals except keyboard, mouse, monitor, and Ethernet, if applicable. Boot in safe mode and log in as yourself. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
During startup, you will see "Safe Boot" on the login screen, which appears even if you normally log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Safe mode is slower than normal, and some things won’t work at all, perhaps including wireless networking on certain Macs. If you usually connect to the Internet via WiFi, and it doesn’t work in safe mode, connect using an Ethernet cable. If you can’t do that, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and perform a safe login, as follows: Enter your credentials at the login screen, then hold down the shift key and click the “Log in” button. Keep holding the key until the menu bar appears. In this mode, your login items, among other things, won’t load.
In safe mode, test again. Same problem(s) now?
After testing, reboot (if you booted in safe mode) or log out/log in (if you performed a safe login) as usual.

HP HP 15-r006la speakers aren't working

I recieved my new laptop but the speakers aren't working. Volume mixer shows activity even though I can't hear anything. When I plug-in my headphones, they work just fine.

I understand that you are getting no sound from your speakers, but that headphones work fine. I am happy to help.
I assume you are referring to the internal speakers on the notebook, if I am wrong let me know. With that in mind please take a look at this page:

Audigy 2 ZS - Rear Speakers Aren't Working

*Audigy 2 ZS - Rear Speakers Aren't Working-Well, before on XP, just restarting, and re-installing my drivers worked flawlessly.
Since XP, I've installed W7 x64 Bit, and the rear never worked, but I didn't mind, as I was always using my headset for gaming, but now that I've stopped gaming so much, and listen to music much more, I've been wanting my rear speakers back!
Anyways, I've tried the nati've, original Creative drivers, no go.
I'm using Daniel K's right now, no go.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I got this problem when I updated to the new drivers, so that might be your problem since you recently updated. Check to make sure that your speakers settings are for 5. and not stereo. Also make sure that the speaker system is set to receive 6 channel input instead of stereo -- I know my Logitech 5500 system can set to stereo even if it is receiving 6 channels in.

Red-eye not working right

I have a friend who's Macbook is acting a bit weird. In iPhoto 08 if you try to edit the red eye, after a few photos it'll starting doing one eye okay (the left) but then completely miss the other one, putting a black splotch above the eye or to the side of the eye. It's not because of aiming incorrectly.
Also although this isn't the right place to post, iMovie 06 won't let her edit the audio in timeline view. The little markers that enable you to drag the volume down aren't there when you click, for some reason. Not major things but little bugs...
All the latest updates have been installed and I've also done things like deleting the plist and even done an Archive Install for her but iPhoto red eye still doesn't work right. Haven't checked iMovie 06 yet but maybe will tomorrow.

Have you run the latest updates for the iLife 08 apps? If so reinstall iPhoto and update the the lastest, 7.1, followed by a repair of disk permissions.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

The sounds aren't working and I've already checked under settings

Not sure if I'm doing this right but the sounds aren't working for email or calendar alerts.I've already checked under settings and the sounds are all turned to "on".Any suggestions?

You have system sounds on mute. Double tap the home button and swipe to see the left edge of the task bar. If there is a sound icon there with a line thr it, touch it to toggle the sounds back on. If the icon looks like the rotation symbol, then flip the small switch next to the volume rocker on the side of the pad.

After upgrading, multiple applications aren't working properly

I recently upgraded from OX 10.3 to Tiger, and a lot of my applications aren't working properly. My computer is almost exactly 2 years old (I bought it in early January 2005) and otherwise has been running fine.
When I use Safari, every time a page loads a box comes up saying, "Keychain Not Found. Keychain "mcurtiss" cannot be found to store "Safari." I've tried clicking both cancel and reset to defaults, but either way it still keeps happening. I've checked under Keychains and the mcurtiss keychain is there, so I don't know what else to do to fix that.
I also have Firefox, but now that isn't working properly either. It keeps freezing and I have to Force Quit (at which point it's written in red text and says "Not Responding). This happens at least 2-3 times every time I try to use Firefox.
DVD Player is doing basically the same thing-- working very slowly or freezing-- and I have to Force Quit it as well. It also says "Not Responding" in red when this happens.
It's happened a few times with other applications, but with those three it's basically all the time. Can anyone give me any ideas of how to fix this?

Spotlight among other things will scan the bookmarks and add them to your list of bookmarks. To tell if Spotlight is still indexing, go to its menu (the blue circle with white magnifying glass in the upper right), and see if you see anything other than Spotlight and the search field when there is nothing in the search field telling you that indexing is happening. If you search for a known file and it isn't visible in Spotlight that could indicate your Spotlight index is corrupt. To reindex Spotlight, go to Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Spotlight, and remove and add the hard drive to the Privacy section.
If you are getting errors which can't be fixed with Keychain First Aid, and the problem seems to be especially bad with Safari, it suggests that the file that manages you cookies has gotten corrupt. How full is your hard disk?
Is your data backed up?

I can't find by CD or did I download it? I want to start over because nothing is working right, picture are doubled.

I can't find my CD or did I download it? Nothing is working right, I want to delete the Elements 13 and start over or use my old version. My pictures in organizer aren't adding new pictures, nothing makes any sense. I put in the files, but all the files have the same pictures and I know I put in different files for different pictures. I don't know what I'm doing but I could use the old Photoshop just fine. !@

Uninstalling and re-installing elements will not touch your catalog or your photos so at this stage I do not believe that you need to do it. You would need the serial number - do you have that?
When you are looking at the screen with Media, People, Places and Events in the heading, that is the organizer so you have found the organizer. The People, Places and Events tabs will probably be blank until you take action to update them.
From your other comments, I am assuming that you have converted your old Photoshop Elements 5 catalog to the new format. Note that the thumbnails will have to be regenerated so may appear as hour glasses for a while.
Now, with Albums selected on the left and Media selected in the middle, is there any button at the top saying All Media - if so click on it. That should be showing all of your photos that have been imported into the catalog. Do they all appear?
Here is an example of the Album list
Only ones with the album icon (see 2002 08 18 in example) are actually albums, the others are album categories. Only if you click on names with the icon will the display of images change. The album category can be opened or closed by clicking on the small triangle to the left of the name.
Does that help so far? I can cover Folder view later but want to make sure that your system is acting correctly.
