Credentials for the proxy

So, people, are there any way to set the credentials for the proxy server?
I'm using E60 with v2.0618 firmware. And I wasn't able to find the way to do that. In the access point -> advanced settings dialog you can set only proxy IP address and port. And there is no way to set the credentials
More over, most applications (and surely all Nokia applications) do not recognize situations when proxy requests login/password and report a connection error.
There a re very few apps which handle it correctly (like opera/miniOpera).
Also I wonder if this was changed in v3 firmware for E60.

I've got the same deal, and apparently the internet proxy option is not available in the Safari 3 for Windows version, despite not mentioning this anywhere.
So far I've checked:
The help files (no hits on the word proxy, proxies, etc)
Under Preferences the Proxies button is grayed out.
Clicking the '?' next in the Advanced settings tabs lists
information about every other setting except for proxies
What's puzzling is that this is one of the very features touted (reason 12 of 12 reasons you'll love Safari):
"Safari also supports a variety of proxy protocols — services that help firewalls control what flows in and out of the network — including Automatic Proxy configuration, FTP Proxy, Web Proxy (HTTP), Secure Web Proxy (HTTPS), Streaming Proxy (RTSP), SOCKS Proxy, and Gopher Proxy."
..apparently just not in the BETA
Apple, in the future PLEASE include a 'readme' that explains what is and is not included in the Beta. It saves all of us early adopters the pain of not being able to play with your new toys behind a proxy.

  • Mac OS X Server Forward Proxy(Web Caching)...setup a website for the proxy???

    My office is a Mac environment with a couple of windows pcs. To save on bandwidth i would like to setup a Mac OS X Snow leopard server with a web caching proxy, forward proxy. I read this link from apple
    Server Admin 10.6 Help: Configuring Web Service Proxy Settings
    i understand that to set this up i must enable it on my Mac Server and also on the clients(end user) web browser. What i don't understand is this part:
    "When setting up a forward proxy, make sure you create and enable a  website for the proxy. You might want to disable logging                      on the proxy site or configure the site to record  its access log in a separate file from your other sites’ access logs.  The                      site does not need to be on port 80 but setting up  web clients is easier if its browsers use port 80 by default."
    Create and enable a website for the proxy??? I don't understand, why do i need a website for web caching? Shouldn't the settings in the web browser direct the http requests to the mac server and it does the rest, what has a website got to do with it and what type of website?How?
    Please help, thank you in advance

    Firefox any version Mac, has a bug were it does not see or ask for the proxy username and password. This happens if you use a virtual tagged interface. A recent network University policy change. The only way to fix this, is if you use a manual proxy configuration in Firefox. So all 100 + uni iMac's can only use Safari as I would need to do a profile push to all 300 students and I am unsure what file carries the proxy information.

  • Use keymgr.dll credentials for firefox proxy

    I am accessing the web trough a proxy.
    The thing is that since I'm logged into a domain, the domain user I have has restricted proxy access.
    However, If I use a different user to log into the proxy I do get access since this user has no proxy restrictions.
    I finally was able to use this different cproxy credentials by using control keymgr.dll on windows, as far as I understand it basically logs using the stored credentials when attempting to go to some site (in this case myproxy.whatever.com)
    The thing is that If i use firefox to browse, it apparently attempts to use the domain user/ password when accessing to the proxy so it has restricted access.
    So I can think of two solutions, but I need help so here are the questions:
    Solution a).- How to force firefox to ask for authentication cedentials when accessing to the proxy?
    Solution b).- How to use the keymgr.dll credentials (same way that IE does) to firefox when attempting to access proxy?
    or, possible solution c).- how to and where to store proxy credentials for firefox?

    Peter, the autheticated user is available from the portal request object. Get that one in your application and read from the UME all the properties you wanna get and build your web service call with it. It looks for me straight forward, what exactly is your problem?

  • SSO Authentication asking us to enter credentials for the first time.

    Hi Experts,
    We have implemented SSO using kerberos authentication to our Windows ADS Server. It was working fine quite for few months and able to loging in without entering the credentials.
    Now, after every restart of my PC (client machine) it asks for the user credentials for once. After that it is not asking for credentials again.
    Its asking once only when i restarted the machine.
    Could anyone help me to resolve this. we dont want to enter the credentials atleast for once also.
    We are on Netweaver 2004s SP17.
    Thanks in advance
    Best Regards
    Sunil

    Hi Sunil,
    one idea would be to check whether you have all the necessary Kerberos Tickets, especially the Ticket Granting Ticket (TGT).
    A tool for this check is klist which is part of the MS Windows Resource Kit.
    You would kave to copy klist to your client, open a cmd box, jump to the directory where you have copied klist, and enter klist tgt to check the tgt, and klist tickets to check the service tickets.
    Best regards,
    Jochen

  • Using a Single Credentials for the Multiple Users

    Hi Oracle Team ,
    We are in the process of creating a Android App and communicate it to DMS for all the data to and fro .
    Following  this post Creating the Application User dynamically on the device  , we tested the App with single credential ,
    We found a Strange behavior of the App  when it is tested from the two different devices  with same username/pwd/url,
    Usecase :
    Device 1 : Added 5 records and synced . Sync successful .All data in server
    Device 2 : Added 5 different records and synced . Sync Successful . No data of Device 2 in server but all the data added by Device 1 and which was in server before sync is in Device 2 .
                    The data added by Device 2 is missing , where it is ? , I checked the data in the $tables as well, no data ,
    Is it a Snapshot issue ? , Why data is missing ?  is it a defect or can't use DMS that way ?
    Thanks,
    Spurthi

    Hi Spurthi,
    This is not a reasonable use case. There are technical details to be explained, but just to clarify, the proper use case is to run one client (you can say one DMS user) on one device.
    Thanks,

  • How to use an authenticated user for a proxy call

    Dear all,
    I am currently working on a JEE application where the user needs to authenticate (for this I have configured the web.xml).
    Now inside this application I need to do a proxy call to a PI webservice.
    I would like to use the user credentials of the already logged in user in order to call the proxy.
    What I don't want to do is to use a service user for the proxy call.
    The code I am trying to call looks something like this:
         private IntegratedConfigurationIn getPort() throws Exception{
              IntegratedConfigurationIn port = null;
              try {
                   IntegratedConfigurationInService service = null;
                   service = new IntegratedConfigurationInService();
                   port = (IntegratedConfigurationIn) service.getIntegratedConfigurationIn_Port();
                  BindingProvider bp = (BindingProvider)port;
                  bp.getRequestContext().put(BindingProvider.USERNAME_PROPERTY, user);
                  bp.getRequestContext().put(BindingProvider.PASSWORD_PROPERTY, password);
                  if (url.length() != 0)
                       bp.getRequestContext().put(BindingProvider.ENDPOINT_ADDRESS_PROPERTY, url);
              catch (Exception ex){
                   ex.printStackTrace();
              return port;
    The examples I found to retrieve the userdata pointed to codes similar to this one:
    public HttpServletRequest getHttpRequest() throws Exception {
              // Get runtime context
              Properties props = new Properties();
              props.put("domain", "true");
              Context initialContext = new InitialContext(props);
              ApplicationWebServiceContext wsContext = (ApplicationWebServiceContext) initialContext
                        .lookup(" /wsContext/ApplicationWebServiceContext");
              HttpServletRequest req = wsContext.getHttpServletRequest();
              return req;
    com.sap.security.api.IUser sapUser = com.sap.security.api.UMFactory.getAuthenticator().getLoggedInUser(getHttpRequest(), null);
              IUser ep5User = com.sapportals.wcm.util.usermanagement.WPUMFactory.getUserFactory().getEP5User(sapUser);
    Now I don't know how to bring it togehter and how to use an authenticated user for the BindingProvider.
    I would appreciate any hints or ideas.

    Peter,
    from the first screenshot, what I understood is that, you are calling an inbound PI web service that is intended to create an integrated configuration object (this is used for whole lot of other reason completely) but not actually calling a development web service.
    For this, you would have to generate your client classes from the WSDL provided by the PI developer for that particular service. Once you get those client classes generated, you could used the method provided in the other screenshot to extract the user and password and call the intended web service.

  • Remembering the proxy id/password with the Java Console

    I am running IE 6 and the Java 2 Runtime environment (v1.4.1_01). I am behind a company firewall and require a login/pasword to authenticate to the proxy (in order to surf the internet). When I connect to a site that is java enabled, the java console pops up asking for the same credentials. Is there anyway to remember these credentials so that I can bypass this popup?

    The proxy configuration page has a check box for "Use Browser Settings". Alternatively, you can manually enter proxy information in the plug in.
    Here's the problem.. Either way, there is no option to save the username and password for the proxy. This is very annoying for those of us behind corporate proxy servers.
    In Firefox, I can save my proxy username and password so that I don't have to enter it every time. But, whenever a site comes up that uses the java plug-in, I have to MANUALLY enter my proxy username and password for java. Very annoying.

  • HP Officejet pro 8500 won't print and keeps asking for a proxy setting. Help.

    HP Officejet pro 8500 won't print and keeps asking for a proxy setting. Help.

    Hi,
    Can you confirm that you have an Officejet 8500a or Officejet 8500? On the 8500a model, you can set the networks proxy address and port setting from the front panel of the printer (setup>Webservices setup>proxy). If you are unsure what your proxy settings are you'll need to contact your network admin. If your network uses a proxy users name and password for all devices, you need to enter this information along with the proxy address and port in the printers embedded web server. Type the products IP address into an internet brownser window (printer must be connected to the same network as PC). Select the network tab, and than look for the proxy settings option. Enter in the information and click apply. Once the networks proxy information has been correctly inputed into the embedded web server, try printing again. If unsuccessfully, you might try reinstalling the printer software after uninstalling it. Hope this helps!

  • The proxy server is refusing connections on a user name on my desktop. How do I repair that?

    Hello,
    My computer has 2 users on here. Under my username when I try to go on the internet I get a pop up that say "The proxy server is refusing connections. Firefox is configured to use a proxy server that is refusing connection." I have tried going into my control panel under internet options and changing my LAN setting to automatic and that did not work. I also tried to place where is searches for the proxy and I am unable to connect on y user. I can switch users and go under my daughters and then I am able to connecto to the internet.

    If you have problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
    Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop
    * Firefox 5.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
    * Install the new version that you have downloaded
    Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder], so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data.

  • WLC: Configuring Global Credentials for Access Points

    Hi,
    I have an WLC 4404 running Software Version 5.0.148.0 with 40 LWAPPs (1242AG, some 1231G). I want to configure global credentials for the LWAPPs. The configuration guide did not mention, if I have to reboot the LWAPPs after setting the credentials.
    So, could I set this option during operation time? Thanks a lot for your help.
    Regards
    Simon

    Hi,
    Configuring the "Override global credentials" option in the GUI does not reboot the AP. It can be done in a production environment, just did it on one of my 1252s to test.
    Hope it helps.
