Credit Dropped 100 points?

Hello , Recenlty I changed american express cards , meaning I closed my AMEX gold charge card to open an AMEX everyday I was approved and given a 10k limit. However after I closed my gold card I didn't see one left over charge of $60. Months went by without my knowlege of my outstanding payment , in the end AMEX closed all my accounts for failing to pay the $60 charge. I have called them and they said I would have to apply again , so I did however I was declined. Now my credit has fallen to 640 from 750 just from closing one of my credit card accounts , plus the late payments. Those are the only marks on my credit other than those I have made all payments on time and re-payed all loans given to me. Now I am trying to raise my credit score but it seems I am getting denied for all credit cards. I still have one credit card with a $600 limit on it ( my very first) , should I just start making purchases with this card and make my payments on-time ? Do you think this will restore my credit ? I was thinking about taking one of prosper loans out and just paying it back month by month to help my credit. I have a decent job , 0 debt , and my housing is provided by my employer. Thank you for taking the time to read my post.

Sorry this happened to you. First off, did you square the debt on the gold card with Amex?  That is a top priority.  They have a concrete memory. Didnt they try to contact you to get payment while it was 30 or 60 or 90 days late?  My problems came in 2008 and 09 and I was getting lots of calls from every creditor until the COs occured.  Then a short lull, and the CAs started circling overhead. Second, try getting secured cards, hopefully ones that will graduate to unsecured with good history.  There are threads with lists of secured cards on the forums. If you have one card now, take care of it.  You need to try for at least three, even if small, even if secured. The baddies will have less impact in time, with 24 months as a milestone. Rinse out that one card you have with purchases and payments, and pay before due dates.  When you get more cards, rinse those out too. hth

Success!!! I came to this forum about a month ago because I was trying to purchase a home. I need down payment assistance, so the program I need requires a middle score of 640. I started this process with a middle score of 556 feeling very discouraged. After reading all of the amazing advice here, I started by paying down credit cards and moving my utilization from 96% down to under 5%. I paid all cards but one to zero and then left a $50 balance on a card with a $750 limit. I also knew it was going to take some work addressing old collections, particularly those that are currently reporting. I was struggling with 4 Portfolio accounts, discouraged that they would ever budge (and I don't think they will) when I randomly sent a GW letter to a collection I had settled 2 weeks before. It was an old cable bill that was never sent to me, so I didn't know it existed until they pulled my credit and I saw it there. I had paid it immediately. The nice gentleman there took pity on me and deleted it from my credit report this morning. My lender tells me my new middle score is now 656!!!  That's a 100 point boost in just about a month and very likely a new house for me. Thank you to all who shared your secrets here. It created a great blueprint for me to follow and I could not have done it without you!

Congrats!! Inspiring! I'm in the same boat and in the process of getting FHA!! Can I ask how you got your utilization so good? I'm trying to figure that out. How do you calculate charge, interest, payment, timing to keep the $50 balance? Congrats!!!

    Hello!

    KUB,
It seems as if this is the third time you've asked the exact same question, and you never responded to the solution that was suggested the very first time you asked it. Do you understand that the person who answered you there (lesher) attached an image that shows a suggested solution?
You should go back to that original thread, examine the proposed solution, and--staying in that thread--ask a follow-up question (click the "Reply" button) if you do not understand something. If you do ask another question, you need to be very detailed and specific about what isn't working, or people won't be able to successfully help you.
Keep in mind that LabVIEW 6.0 (a fairly old version at this point) is really going to limit the number of people who can make modifications to your code and re-save it in a format that you can use.
    Regards,
    John

    Hello!
I am using Keithley 2400 and Labview 6.0. I have some questions.
    1) In my program, I cannot measure above 100 points. The limit that I can measure is only 100 points. In order to measure 1000 point, what should I do?
    2) I want to make "Sweep Voltage" by Step Voltage [start:0V, stop: 5V, step: 0.1V. I have already implemented this, but my program is not good. Could you modify my progrma?

  • I paid down a card to zero and my score dropped 18 points

Hi and welcome! You need to keep balances low (1-9% util) on credit cards and other revolving credit. High outstanding debt can affect a score.  Too much use of credit shows you may need more that you can handle, not good. Not enough use of credit does not demonstrate that you can use credit responsibly, also not good. It is a balance - show you can manage that balance and you will be rewarded. All revolving accounts reporting a 0 balance results in a Fico score decrease. Read up, take it all in, there are many answers in the following post, after that if you need calrification and/or still have questions, ask away! http://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Understanding-FICO-Scoring/Credit-Scoring-101-START-HERE/m-p/8169

WOW!! i did not know that little trick, thats wy, my scores has been so slow in rising up, is becouse i paid in full before the statement cus off,and always reported 0 balance, also recently closed a CC account with zero balance, and my scores dropped a lots points, so from now one i willlet report some small balance Hooray!!! i have learned so much from this forum, and each time i log in i learn somenthingnew and beneficial for my financial life!! thank you all for the greatest financial advices!!! you guys are awesome!!! Yes, ensure that not only you let report 1-9%, but also important, only let ONE of your credit lines report anything at all. No matter how many credit lines you have, only let one report a balance of 1-9%. You can and should rinse and repeat for your other credit lines. One billing cycle let Credit Card A report, next cycle let credit card B report. This is unnecessary and needlessly complicates things as cards seldom all report at the same time. Just pick one card and allow it to be your "reporter". By switching cards each month you can end up with periods between the cards reporting dates where either both are reporting a balance or neither is reporting a balance. That causes your scores to bounce around. So, wait until your statement cuts - when the statement is cut is when the reporting is done to the credit agencies, then before your due date pay in FULL so as not to incur any interest. Then start on your next credit line. Remember, it's not that you never want to pay in full, it's that you do not want to pay in full BEFORE the credit card reports. If you wait past the due date then you will incur interst. Also, note, you can use as many cards as you like with as high balance as you like during the billing cycle as long as when the reporting gets done you only have one line reporting 1-9%. Reporting to the credit agencies is not done daily, just once per billing cycle. If you know when your statement cuts, and you can ask them, then you know when you need to clean things up with your balances before it cuts/reports.

  • Score Dropped 60 Points from paying off loan

I had two college loans.  Nelnet - 40,000 and KeyBank - 30,000 (Default)  Had a family member Pledge money into a loan for myself and I paid back Nelnet for the full amount and settled with KeyBank for 70% (around 20,000)  Two months later I ran another report and my score dropped from 672 (Started at 400 from five years ago) and dropped down to 612.  No way my wife and I can get a house.  I knew it could drop but not 60 points!  It's going to take another year to bring it back up to the 670-680 range that I really needed to make a mortgage work.   My tracking the last 2 years had been great.  Each score was going up each 3 months and we've put a lot into savings and everything has been great.  Very depressing to hold my family back like this.  I also knew I would be applying for a mortgage at this time so about 6 months ago I opened my first credit card (Capital One QuickSilver -$2,000 limit) SO I have made weekly payments (I emotionally feel better making weekly payments for some reason) and wonder if asking to increase my limit would help or hurt my score. Thanks everyone.

That's temporary and your scores will recover as that item ages now. Your issues are easily fixable. First step is to get a second Capital One card. You should get an immediate boost from a second card.  A third card from another lender would be good as well. Maybe Discover. If you have no other installment lines, open an account with SDFCU and do a share secured loan with them for $500 @ 36 months. That will also boost your scores. If you have trouble getting a third card, you can get a secured card from SDFCU as well. Three revolving lines will force your scores up much faster than just one. If your last two years are clean, you could easily hit 680 in 3-6 months. After you get the multiple revolving accounts going, to peak your scores you want to only allow one of the cards to report a small balance of less than 10% of its limit.

  • How to export more than 100 points from waveform to excel

    Hi everyone. Novice here.
I'm pretty sure other people had my problem, but I don't know how to word it... and can't find a solution for it... Maybe I just don't understand Labview enough to know what's going on.
Here's what I'm doing: I have a waveform, and I'm trying to save the data to the spreadsheet.
Problem: The cap is at 100 data plots (only what's shown on the graph). In other words, I only get data for what the graph holds at the present moment.
Want: I want more than that - EVERYTHING. If it begins from 0s to 50s, I want all the points (10ms increments, which is done already) on the excel file.
Can you guys help me? How do I get suck that history out of the graph?
I attached my labview file (a really simple one), so you guys know where I am.
    Thanks guys!

If you are not in a hurry, another option is to save the data as a delimited text file. This will allow you to open it in almost any analysis program, since a delimited text file is the universal file type. A delimited text file is one in which data is stored in columns, separated by delimiters, and rows, separated by lines of text. The delimiter is usually a tab character (file extension .txt), but a comma is common in some industries (file extension .csv). Note that using a comma separator can get you into trouble if using European numbering styles, which use the comma instead of the period as the decimal indicator.
LabVIEW has several VIs that make this easy for you.
If you have a single set of homogeneous data and are only writing once (NOT in a loop), then use Write to Spreadsheet File.vi. This VI formats your data into rows and columns, opens the file, writes the data, then closes the file. Since it opens and closes the file, it is not suitable for use in a loop.
If you are writing homogeneous data in a loop, use the Array to Spreadsheet String function at each iteration to format your array of data to rows and columns, then write using either of the file write primitives.
If you have inhomogeneous data, such as a timestamp and a few doubles, format the data on a line by line basis and write to disk. The attached example, SImpleLowLevelWriteSpreadsheetFile.vi shows how to do this.
If you need more speed, you can buffer your data so the blocks of data you send to disk are more optimized. This is a bit more complex, but the attached example, BufferedLowLevelWriteSpreadsheetFile.vi shows how to do it. This will usually give you at least 2X and could be 10X or more speed improvement.
    Have fun!

Major idiot move as I didn't get approvals and now I have a lot of inquiries on my history. Crap! Any advice on directions to go to help get my scores up by Spring in 4-6 months? I just moved to a very urban area and had the damnest time finding a rental even though my rental history / references is pristine due to dummy debt from when I was 18 - 20. I found a nice rental, but the hitch is it's only available 'til July 31 meaning in the Spring I'll have to start the entire process over again. Someday, I'd like to buy a house and right now it's not looking to good. Help!

Help! I think so, with deletions of collections, rehabbing the Stafford, and correcting the Perkins.  I don't know much about judgments, but I would think a GW letter to the court after payment would be a great start. Actually a judgment has to be vacated/dismissed by the judge in order for it to be removed from your CR. A GW letter to the judge is not usually successful as there are strict rules to courtroom decorum and operations. Just to give you an idea, I got a chargeoff, collection, and paid lien deleted plus paid off some revolvers and got CLIs.  I saw a 36 point increase with EQ in 37 days.  As of last Sunday (day 41), I went up another 5 points.  That's 41 points in about 6 weeks.  I am expecting a few more points in the next 2 weeks after a couple of paid off CCs report, which will decrease utilization to < 10%. Good luck to you!!!

  • Skype Credit Dropping Fast!

    Hi All,
I've made a dozen or so calls to a South African landline just lately. The PAYG call cost from the UK is 2.3p/min (inc VAT), with no connection charge. I reckon I've made roughly £5 of calls but my Skype credit has dropped my much more than this.
Is it possible to get a breakdown of all the debits to my Skype credit? I've searched the website but all I can get is the overall balance.
    Thanks

  • 100 points for pre ordering movies link is dead

    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/promo/my-bby-points-offer-135920
The offer was live and the movies showed up on Saturday but the prices were changed recently and the link no longer works.

Good afternoon dariceboij, and welcome to the Best Buy forum,
The reason why that link is not working is because the 100 bonus points movie pre-orders offer was valid between 3/8/2015 - 3/14/2015, so it has expired.  I do see that the offer is still listed under "My Best Buy™ Exclusive Offers" on BestBuy.com, and I have partnered with our program team to ensure a correction is made as soon as possible.
I greatly appreciate you bringing this to our attention, and while we do not currently have any other bonus point offers for movies, our Gamers Club Unlocked members (which I can see you are) can currently receive 20% off select movies.  You can read more about the offer and look over the list of eligible movies by visiting the link below.

  • Skype credit dropping too quickly

I just attepted to make two calls to Ecuador from Ecuador. Neither went through, got a recorded message and hung up within seconds. My Skype credit droped $1.02 USD. That is clearly incorrect as I have used Skype credit before and it only cost me $0.02 USD/min. I would like a refund for this lost credit. An explanation would be welcome as well. If this is indeed the correct cost then I would like to get a full refund on the $10 USD I just added to my account. Please let me know. Thanks!

  • ITunes has charged credit card £100 even though voucher used to pay - help!

I downloaded a load of albums from iTunes this morning and the cost was being deducted from a £100 voucher that was applied to my account as I downloaded. Halfway through though our computer crashed and when I logged back on it said that the £100 voucher was still there. I checked our bank account and it's charged the £100 to our bank account, pushing us over our overdraft.
I've emailed iTunes to try to get this sorted but it says that we'll have to wait 48 hours for a reply. Does anyone know if there's any way of getting this resolved sooner?

Look, I understand I still need a card attached to the account. The problem is, it won't accept my card because I only have 87 cents in my bank account right now.
If I had known there would be so much trouble with the iTunes card, I would have just put the cash in my bank account in the morning instead of buying an iTunes card (I didn't expect the banks to be open on Thanksgiving of course).
Apple will only accept cards that have a balance. The balance is so small in my account that it won't accept it as a valid card.
I'm going to have to contact Apple anyway to reset the security questions. That's obvious. Your answers were not exactly helpful. You didn't tell me anything I don't already know, but thanks for trying to be helpful.

  • $Loyalty Credit ? ($100.00)

I currently have an HTC Thunderbolt and have completed my 2-year Nationwide Talk & Text 450 Plan some time ago.
I'm looking to upgrade my Device to a Samsung Galaxy S5. I'm also aware that the Nationwide Plan no longer exists so I will have to get a new plan.
I know it's 149.99 2YR PRICE- $50 MAIL-IN REBATE DEBIT CARD for the smartphone for signing up to a new 2-year Contract.
Isn't there also another "Loyalty" Credit for existing Verizon Customers who had a 2-year contract, who are signing up for another 2-year contract?
I'm also considering adding a Samsung Galaxy Note® Pro 12.2 or Samsung Galaxy Note® 10.1 2014 Edition Note Pat to my account.
What, if any discounts would I get for doing that and how would that impact the new 2-year contract?

The Nationwide plan is grandfathered; you don't have to change plans unless you want to.
