Credit management and Terms of Payment

Hi
Can anybody throw some light on the role of Terms of Payment in .Credit Management.
Thanks in advance
Ravi

Dear sankar ravi,
Credit management
Purpose
Outstanding or uncollectible receivables can spoil the success of the company greatly. Credit Management enables you to minimize the credit risk yourself by specifying a specific credit limit for your customers. Thus you can take the financial pulse of a customer or group of customers, identify early warning signs, and enhance your credit-related decision-making. This is particularly useful if your customers are in financially unstable industries or companies, or if you conduct business with countries that are politically unstable or that employ a restrictive exchange rate policy.
Integration
If you are using the Accounts Receivable (FI-AR) component to manage your accounting and an external system for sales processing, Credit Management enables you to issue a credit limit for each customer. Every time you post an invoice (created in FI-AR), the system then checks whether the invoice amount exceeds the credit limit. Information functions such as the sales summary or early warning list help you to monitor the customer’s credit situation.
If you are using both the Accounts Receivable (FI-AR) component to manage your accounting and the Sales and Distribution (SD) component for sales processing, you can also use Credit Management to issue credit limits for your customers. You can make settings in Customizing to decide the scope of the check and at what stage in the process (for example, order entry, delivery or goods issue) a credit limit should take place. General information functions are also available for use with credit checks.
Features
If you are using both the SD and FI-AR components, Credit Management includes the following features:
Depending on your credit management needs, you can specify your own automatic credit checks based on a variety of criteria. You can also specify at which critical points in the sales and distribution cycle (for example, order entry, delivery, goods issue) the system carries out these checks.
During order processing, the credit representative automatically receives information about a customer’s critical credit situation.
Critical credit situations can also be automatically communicated to credit management personnel through internal electronic mail.
Your credit representatives are in a position to review the credit situation of a customer quickly and accurately and, according to your credit policy, decide whether or not to extend credit.
You can also work with Credit Management in distributed systems; for example if you were using centralized Financial Accounting and decentralized SD on several sales computers.
Hope this helps you.
Do award points if you found them useful.
Regards,
Rakesh
P.S. you can send me a mail at my mail id [email protected] for any specific details

  • Link between Credit Risk Category and Terms of Payment

    Hi,
Is there a link between the Credit risk category and the terms of payment. Where can we maintain this.
For instance, if risk category is x, the top is a, risk category is y, top is b.
    Please suggest.

There is no link between credit risk category and Terms of Payment. The Risk Category is assigned to credit limit of the customer which determines if it will be blocked at certain level for sales transactions or just a warning message that the customer is over the limit. For the terms of payment, it just determines when it's due or whether it's overdue or not.

  • Cancellation / Reversal of Credit memos and Check for payment

I have few cases where the credit memos and check for payment documents have been keyed with an incorrect posting date.
What should be best approach to reverse these transactions.

    Hi Somchitra,
in such situations ideally you would use the cancellation document standing on the original document, alas, a credit memo has no target document.
You will need to create an invoice with exactly the same data as in the credit memo & then internally reconcile these transactions. If the credit memo was in itself generated from an invoice, you need to cancel that reconciliation first. After that you re-create the credit memo with exactly the same data, just with the correct dates.
To cancel the cheques for payment you need to cancel the payment itself with the original document date & 'Cancelled' will be put in the 'Remarks' on the cheque.
You will then need to recreate the payment with the correct dates.
If you have already confirmed the printing of the cheque, you'll need to issue a new cheque number & destroy the printed copy, if it hasn't been printed, you can select the appropriate number in the 'Cheque number confirmation' window.
As always when correcting transactions, please keep an eye on the stock transactions & make sure they are correct. Also, for auditing purposes, always enter an approriate text in the 'remarks'.
    All the best,
    Kerstin

  • Set Incoterm and Terms of Payment in Bid Invitation

    Hi gurus,
We are using SRM 5.0 on ECS with backend ECC 5.0.
The requirement is that the user want to set incoterm and terms of payment when they create bid invitation. So the bidder can just follow what the purchaser has set in order not to change the value.
        Anyway we can do this?
        Thank you in advance.

    Hi,
If you dont want the Bidder to chnage the values for the fields "terms of payment" ,  "Incoterm" then you can have 2 options:
    1.   Make these fields display only using the BADI BBP_UI_CONTROL_BADI".
    2. Implement checks acc for these fields in the Bid screen if the  bidder tries to change these values thorugh the BADI "BBP_DOC_CHECK_BADI".
Also I didnt recieve any mail from your id.Can you pls resend it.If possible send me the doc with your deatiled reqt if i have misunderstood anything.

    Hi,
Can any one clear me, is there any difference between Payment terms and Terms of Payment? If yes please give me the what are those.
    Thanks in Advance

Moderator: The same as between 'Press F1 on the field' and 'When on the field, press F1'

    No Difference in SAP.
"Payment Term" is the short text and "Terms of Payment" is the long text of this field.

  • Link between service order and terms of payment

    Hello experts,
can anybody tell me the link between an order and terms of payment of the current buyer? Which tables do I have to join? Or is there any function module to use for that purpose?
    Very urgent!
    Thanks in advance
    Tanja

    Hi Tanja,
instead of directly selecting some data from the DB tables you should read this information via the BOL (c.f BOL Programing - CRM - SCN Wiki for a short introduction).
Using the transaction GENIL_MODEL_BROWSER you can browse through the data model and find the suitable relations for reading the required data. In your case one possible approach to access the data is BTAdminH->BTHeaderBillingSet->BTBillingSetBuAg. Once you have the BuAg BOL object you can simply read the TOFPAYM property.

  • Difference between credit management and risk management

    Hi friends,
can any one  please explain about difference between creditmanagement and risk management.
    Thanks&regards

    Hi Madhusudhan,
The payment guarantee for the value to be billed plays a central role within Sales. Credit management effectively allows you to minimise the credit risk.
Risk management for receivables is another useful tool for setting a payment guarantee to cover the credit risk.
Hope this Clairifies your Doubt and Please Reward If Really helpful.

  • Credit management and credit exposure

    Hi experts,
Pls anybody clarify my doubt in Credit management.
I activated the credit control areas update as 000015(Open delivery and billing document value). And activated dynamic credit management "Automatic credit control".Now i explain with some example how it working. Fixed credit limit for customer A Rs.30,000/-, Receivables amount 22,000/-. Now if create a sales order for value >8000 i m not getting the credit lock waring messages.
(I.e) i am creating one sales Order for value Rs.9,000/-.(So credit limit crossed and not getting error msg or waring messages)
After that creating another sales order for same customer i am getting Warning msg like"Credit limit crossed_____amount".
So finally, CCR Rs.30,000/, Recei Rs.22,000/- but i can able to make even Sales Order value for Rs One lakh. I want here to block sales order should not be create.
    Thanks in advance.

When a sales order is created , only the confirmed quantity is taken for pending sales value even if sale order qty is more
Check OVA8 setting , open deliveries and open orders should be selected
You can set reaction status as warning or error.
Pricing procedure - Subtotal should be A . This will update structure s066
The above condition will work only for order creation . For sales order ammendment you have do the same setting for credit group  02.
If Dynamic credit check works with credit Horizon date . It is better to have static credit check.
Check MC30 after creating sales order whether structure s066 updated for the order.
    check and confirm

  • RMA when Orignial SO was paid thru Credit Card and Check (Multiple Payment)

    Hi,
If I have an original sales order of $100 and customer has paid $100 through Credit Card and Check. Now when he is returning the material back, will RMA take the same payment methods by default?
Also, when customer has purchased the material, there was an Authorization happened. Now when he returns the material, how the payment will go to customer on Credit Card?
Any help will be highly appreciated.

I am running RFFOUS_C.  I'm not sure what you mean by 'set the variant for check print by using the new dummy check number range'.  I had created a check number range (and lot) and attached it to the house bank I enter when running the program - is this what I should be doing?  Under print control, I have the 'print checks', 'print payment advice' and 'print payment summary' options selected, but I do not have 'print immediately' selected.  When I run RFFOUS_C in this manner, check numbers do not get created.  In fact, their is a function module 'get_check_number', but this only gets executed when you run RFFOEDI1.  What could I be doing wrong?

  • Clarification about plant and terms of payment In Master Data:

    Hello Gurus,
I have a doubt as follows:
    1) In Material master (MM01) we are maintaining Plant as two types.
         a) Plant at organisation leve pop up at the begining
         b) Delivering plant at Sales organisation 1.
So, is there any difference between plant and delivering plant or are they different objects ?
    2) Terms of payment in Customer master (XD01)
         a) we maintain Terms of payment customer master at company code level in "Payment transaction"
         b) we also maintain Terms of payment in customer master at sales area data in "Billing Documents" tab
Now Why do we need to maintain at these to levels.
FYI: I have also tried to maintain two different Terms of payment and without any hesitation the system accepts, why ?
What is the significance of it.
    Please clarify the above.
    Thanks,
    Venky.

    Hello Venky,
    1. Material / Plant
A Material is always stored in a Plant & there would be various parameters to be entered for that particular Plant. E.g. Storage Bin, Picking Area, Negative Stocks allowed in Pant, GR Processing time, etc..
Now the same Material may or may not be sold from the same plant, or even if it is sold from the same plant, there would be different Sales parameters for each combination Sales Organisation & Plant. There Sales Organisation specific parameters are entered in Sales Organisation/PLant view. Tax classification Data, Cash Discount indicator, Sales Unit, Delivering Plant, Division, Minimum Order & Minimum Delivery quantity.
    2. Payment Terms
The Payment Terms entered in Billing tab in Sales Area data is copied into Sales order & Invoice.
The Payment Terms in Company Code data are used by FI department when posting direct payment (without reference to Sales Document). e.g. to Offer Cash Discount for paying in advance.
    Hope this clarifies,
    Thanks,
    Jignesh Mehta

  • Link between credit management and pricing procedure

    Hi,
I want to know the link between the pricing procedure and credit management,on basis of that system determine that credit value is exceeded at the time of sales order.
    Regards
    Prabudh

    Hi,
In pricing procedure there is a field called Subtotal.
    SUBTOTAL
A key is assigned from the drop down menu; this can be used
by the system in other area like Sis for reporting purpose
    also
As Pricing comes under billing and In this there is close link with the SIS which is Sales Info System. Subtotal fieldand Net value notifies the SIS about the value and thus calculates the Credit Check.
    Hope this will help.
    Thanks,
    Raja

    Hi,
You got this message because you set check for "Permitted aging of A/R summary" on OVA8.  And you also chose to create AR summary on table T000CM.
You can do one of following:
    1. on OVA8, make "permitted days and monthes" blank.
    2. delelte entries in table T000CM
    3. Make "permitted days and monthes" longer, and delete and re-create AR summary by FCV2 and FCV1.
    Hope it helps.

  • Using FSCM Credit Management and SD Credit Management in parallel

We are looking to implement FSCM/SAP Receivables Credit Management which will replace SD Credit Management (OVA8, FD32, etc). This will be a phased roll-out by groups of credit control areas. SAP OSS Note 1553999 was created but there is no technical detail on how to enable FSCM for some areas while still continuing to use SD for other areas. For example, we are rolling out by global region, so we would want all existing credit control areas for one region to move over to FSCM while all other regions will continue to use existing SD functionality. Is there some specific BAdI, configuration, or other custom ABAP that needs to take place to achieve this?
    Thanks
    Daniel

    Hi Daniel,
Try through the BADI with the IMG activity UKM_R3_ACTIVATE, you find it in the section "Integration with SD". Check the option of Filter-Dependence for the BADI definiton. It allows you to define filters such as country or line of business
The method that controls the FSCM-CM activation is: "SET_ACTIVE".
    I hope that helps

  • Credit Management and LC

    Hi All,
While creating the sales order client requires that system should consider LC document and Payments from the customer in order to execute the delivery processing.
    Is it possible??????????????
    For Example,
    LC amount 42000 US$
    Payment    4000    US$
    Order Value 46000 US$
Currently, when we create te sales order and assinging LC document, System only considers the value of LC document, not the payment.
    Thanks in advance.
