Crew I am a total Noob here please help!

Crew,
First let me say I am a Noob at Flash. I recently purchased
Studio 8 and CS2 Photoshop. I created a basic button in flash using
the default Up,Over,Down and hit routine. I have the frames working
and can save (publish) the file ie: Button.swf.
Once I am in Dreamweaver 8, I can import the Button.swf using
Insert>Media>Flash option. The button appears in the website
and the graphic animations interact with Up,Over,Down.
Here is where I exhibit to you pros out there that I am a
complete idiot!. I can not find a way to link or target with the
button. I am use to simply providing a link to the web object
inside of Dreamweaver. Much like the provided style flash buttons
do in Dreamweaver. Is there a way to create a flash button and have
it act like the style buttons ie: with the options to link and
such?
I feel I am missing the code needed for Dreamweaver to talk
to the Flash button? And if so, I take it needs to be included
prior to publishing of the Flash Button? Any help would be great
guys!... Otherwise I’m looking for a book “Making a
Flash Button and using it in Dreamweaver8 – For Complete
Idiots “
Stephen

Hi,
If you are using Flash 8, this would be very easy for you.
All you have to do to add video to your file is to import your
video and Flash will open the video importer wizard for you. move
through the steps. Do not choose embedded video if you want your
video to play externally. Then choose your player skin.
Flash will generate the FLV file for your video and add
controllars to your video in the stage. This is the easiest way as
you do not have to add any code my hand for the controllars.
If you like to just export video to FLV, use the Flash FLV
exporter that come with Flash mx 2004 and Flash 8

  • Crazy problem here - Please help?

    Hey Guys,
I was helping a friend to install some apps and widgets on her 15 Inch PowerBook G4. One of the things I installed was the "SecondaryTrackpadClick" package... after that it requested for a restart so I restarted it.
Now, the computer boots up and gets to the login screen... the trackpad responds but the keyboard is unresponsive.
Some of the keys on the keyboard work... like lowering or rising the volume (it even shows the animation on the screen) or changing the brightness... but the rest of the keys don't seem to do anything!
Please help, I am stuck at the login screen... everything else works, the lights light up, the controls work... but the keyboard keys (characters and numbers) are frozen. I can't log in because it prompts for the password and I can not type it in.
    Any ideas?
I already tried resetting the PRAM and PMU, still the same.
    Thanks for your help.

I'm not going to be able to hang around very long tonight, so let's get to the point . . .
What exactly did you install on your friend's machine? Did you just install the SecondaryTrackpadClick package, or did you install any other Intel-based software?
If you just installed the one package (and I won't ask where you got it), then what you've essentially done is replace the kext file(s) for the trackpad with (a) file(s) that are unusable in that machine. To replace the file(s), you will need to have use of your keyboard. Since you can't use the PowerBook's keyboard, you will have to try to use Keyboard Viewer, which is a virtual keyboard that is a part of Mac OS X.
If there is a national flag icon (e.g., American, English, Spanish, . . .) in the menu bar on your friend's machine, then you will be able to activate and use Keyboard Viewer with a mouse cursor. Just click on the flag and choose Keyboard Viewer.
If there is no flag icon in the menu bar, then you will have to activate it in System Preferences > International > Input Menu. Open that pane, check Keyboard Viewer at the top of the window, and check the box, 'Show input menu in the menu bar' at the bottom of the window.
If you are unable to get to the desktop because you have to log in and you can't type, you will have to try booting into safe mode, holding down the Shift key immediately after the startup chime to see if the new kernel extension you installed is prevented from loading, thus allowing you to type. If that works, enable Keyboard Viewer from safe mode, and also go to System Preferences > Accounts and enable Automatic Login for an Admin User of the machine. Then reboot normally, go to the flag icon in the menu bar, open Keyboard Viewer, and use the mouse to click the keys you need to type to download and install Pacifist which is available at http://www.charlessoft.com/
Pacifist is a utility that will enable you to extract particular files from the Install disc(s) and reinstall them on your computer so that you don't have to reinstall your entire OS. What you need to do is figure out what was installed, what was replaced, and then you need to trash what was installed and extract the replaced file(s) from the Install disc that came with the computer or from the Mac OS X 10.4 retail package.
EDIT: You may be able to figure out what was installed by SecondaryTrackpadClick.pkg by Control-clicking on its installer .pkg file and choosing Show Package Contents from the contextual menu that opens. Navigate through the Contents to locate the items that may have been installed. (You can also use Pacifist to navigate that .pkg file.)
Pacifist comes with good documentation. Read it, and try to follow the instructions given by the user in the linked topic above:
. . . Insert your OS X disk (DVD or CD) and locate the missing AppleADBKeyboard.kext file with the help of Pacifist. Install it. Then download and install the latest [10.4.7] Combo update. Do not use SoftwareUpdate, but download it from the provided link. Then, repair permissions and cross your fingers.

How are you connected to internet?
What make & model of modem are you using?
Are you using a separate modem & router or a combined?
    Do both do NAT?
    Do you have VoIP?

  • 10.4.6 + InDesign CS2 =  Total Disaster.  PLEASE HELP.

After installing 10.4.6 my Adobe InDesign CS2 no longer works. It crashes every time I start it up. I've repaired permissions, cleared caches and troubleshooted the system fonts folder. No luck. PLEASE HELP. I'm missing deadlines, losing money and sweating bullets.
I can't believe Apple wouldn't test this update on all Adobe Design Apps and end up alienating their core audience. Shocking.
Any advice or fix for this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
    G5 Dual Core 2.3   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

The one thing you should have done was create a clone of your system hard drive on a firewire external disk, then you could have booted from that and kept working then returned to deal with the 10.4.6 problems later when deadlines aren't looming. Remember that for next time.
There should be no problem running IDCS2 in 10.4.6, something else is wrong. Get Disk Warrior and run repairs.
If necessary do an Archive and Install of Tiger, then a full update to 10.4.6 (Repairing Permissions before and after everything), then reinstall InDesign (test InDesign after the Archive and Install first, it might be fixed just from that). This is practically a sure thing so if deadlines are getting tight you might just want to go right for this instead of messing around with other fixes first.
And whatever you do get an external firewire drive and SuperDuper! and make a clone of your drive so everything is backed up and you always have a fail-safe system to fall back on.

  • Totally lost!  Please help

Hi.... I am not a computer geek and know nothing about programming. I have SunMicro Java2 Platform Standard Version Version 1.5.0 (build 1.5.0_01-b08) on my computer. I am running Win XP Pro.
This thing is constant shutting down programs that require java. For example, a Pogo game site, or even Yahoo's Web builder software. I have no idea why it is doing this, and how to fix it. I don't understand if I have something configured wrong or what, but it is becoming a real pain.
Could someone please look at one of these logs (they all seem basically about the same) and see what the heck is wrong? I sure would appreciate any help you can give me.
    Thanks in advance......

Im am getting the same type of problem. At first only the pogo web site would hang up then the system started shutting down randomly. I found that the program called "weather bug" from channel 10 news was causing the pogo hangup so I uninstalled it. That solved that problem but the shut downs continued to occur. I uninstalled java, dowloaded the most recent and installed it and it help but I still get the shutdowns just not as often.
This all started after installing the weather bug.
    Here is my error log:

  • I am totally confused!  Please help this newbie :-)

    Hi there,
I am sorta new to Java. I've learned the basics of the language, but now I am finding myself totally confused with all the new stuff. There is SOOOOO much stuff on the java.sun.com website that I don't know where to begin.
Ok, here is my question. Well, questions.
    1. Is there a document that describes when exactly one would want to use the J2EE as opposed to the J2SE?
    2. I want to develop a multi-platform small business desktop application. This application needs to support multiple users accessing a database on a server. It also needs to be capable of accessing a web service via the Internet. And there will be a web-based version of the application. So given these requirements, how do I know if I need the J2EE or not? I would like to avoid requiring the J2EE. The idea being to have a desktop application that can be sold for around $100 per seat license. J2EE application servers are relatively expensive, are they not?
Where do I even begin? Can someone point me to a document or some information?
Incidentally, I want to do all my development on Linux.
    Thanks for any help!
    Joe

Suppose somebody said to you "I have just started to learn to cook, and I would like to open a restaurant in Paris. What should I serve, and will I need to know French?" What advice would you give that person? Well, hopefully you would tell that person to get a job washing dishes or waiting tables at a local restaurant and learn the business starting from the ground up.
Same answer in your case. Start with J2SE and work on learning Java. Also learn about Internet technologies. Then probably after several months to a year you will start to understand the business, and the answers to your questions will become clearer.

  • Total Noob wanting some help

Hi guys I just got new job and they use CF over here. My
first small project is thowing me for a loop just because I've
never really worked databases before. I'm looking for some starting
help. We have this intranet site that everyone here uses to place
orders and stuff, they all use bunches of databases. And what my
boss is wanting me to do is find a way to put a count of all the
items in a database that match a certian criteria on the main page.
So what I need is a way to count database items. Help would be
helpful. Like I said I'm a total n00b and forgive me if you can't
make heads or tails of this. I'd be glad to explain more in depth
    for help. Thanks guys
    Kevin

Well, let says that you want to get a count of everything in
your ITEMS table that has a QUANTITY of at least 3 and a PRICE of
greater than $5.00 (assuming that QUANTITY and PRICE and columns
    within the ITEM table)
A real simple way of handling this app would be to first do
the query and then out put the result. Your entire application
    would be:
    <cfquery name="qGetItemCount"
    datasource="datasourceName">
    SELECT Count(*) AS itemCount
    FROM items
    WHERE quantity >= 3
    AND price > 5
    </cfquery>
    <cfoutput>#qGetItemCount.itemCount#</cfoutput>
And that is it. It only gets more complicated from there, and
you need to strongly consider some learning resources if you want
to excel at ColdFusion. It is an easy language to learn and use,
but, like any other language, it should not be fuddled through.
Note: You'll need to get your datasourceName from your
    administrator.

  • Kind of at a loss here, please help if you know

Can you transfer your iTunes libraray to a different computer? As in, I have about 2,000 songs on my itunes, and I'm about to move and I have to get a new computer because this one isn't mine. Is it a problem to move all those songs onto a different computer? Am I going to have to redo all of that importing?

There are a number of things you could do. One would be to network the to computers and transfer your iTunes folder from one to another. You can also use an iPod if you have one as a portable hard drive and move the folder with it though that would be considerably slower than computer to computer. Here are a few links that may help you out:
