CRio Password in Safe Mode
Hello,
We are days away from a deployment, and the cRio was working great until this afternoon. To start the sntp demon, I modified the ni-rt.ini file according to these instructions on the NI site. I turned the logs on to make sure it was working. It was. I turned the logs back off, and when I restarted the status light is blinking twice, with no bootup.
Since two flashes indicates a software issue, I tried reinstalling the software from safe mode. I did so without removing old files or formatting the drive. I expected this to restore the ni-rt.ini file. (System is cRio 9076, running LV 2012). Unfortunately on restart, the status light is blinking twice again.
Now, when I boot into safe mode, I am unable to make any alteration to the disk contents without being asked for a password. No password I've used on this cRio at any point works. FTP likewise is not accepted.
Can anyone give me some advice on how to get this system back up? It was all ready to go!
Thanks,
--Jeff

Were you not able to choose the "Format Disk" option when right-clicking the target in MAX?

SbRIO (cRIO) reboots into safe mode (software error)
Hi there,
I've used the sbRIO-9612 for year on the project, recently it sometimes reboots into safe mode. In MAX I may find the status of the sbRIO is "Safe Mode with software error". Can anyone tell me, how can I find out where is the problem. I have the error log as attachment.
Regards,
Wilbur

CompactRio software error, safe mode, Staus light 4 flashes per second
My cRio 9204 was running fine for the past weeks. But this saturday it stopped working and Status light showing 4 flashes per second.
I opened MAX, and the cRio was in safe mode (sofeware error)
I tried to reformat the controller and reinstall the software. It did not fix the problem.
After I reformatted the controller, the Status lights were flashing twice per second (The controller has detected an error in its software)
After I installed the software, the Status lights were flashing 4 times per second (The controller software has crashed twice without rebooting or cycling power between crashes).
the Error log showed the memory was mostly free, so it was not memeory problem.
I am using LabView 2013 SP1, Real Time 13.0.1, CompactRio 13.1 Feb-2014, scan mode. The cRio is doing data logging and is running without PC connected. The TDMS file is saved in USB. Everyday a startup Vi will automatically run when there is power. Today when I check the TDMS file , I fould out it stopped recording at Saturday noon, and cRio was in error.
What could the problem be, what tests could I run to figure out the error is? Any idea would be appreciated. I have attached the error log to this message

MBP won't recognize passwords; reboots in safe mode.
1.5 year old MBP started typing capitals without Caps lock on. I shut down and the MBP came up in safe mode but wouldn't recognize my or my wife's password. Please help. Wife already lost hard drive on a MS laptop this week...it's been a tough week.
Steve, you were exactly right. Some salt caused the shift key to stick which was the proximate cause of the problem. Good Job Buddy.

Background...
I joined the Mac bandwagon about 2 months ago. I am still getting used to it, but like it so far. Last week, I activated a new Iphone on my Imac. I needed to key in my userid and password. 3 days later, my itunes account was hacked into. My itunes information was scrambled. My itunes email, home address, and password were changed. Also, they didn't use my credit card which was attached to my account to make any purchases (they deleted my card and put someone else's card on my account to buy $100 worth of gift cards). I didn't receive any emails from Apple that my password, or email were changed, but I did get 2 receipts from the Itunes Store identifiying the purchases. Apple support fixed everything, but couldn't offer any explanation on what happened, other than to say my account was "modified". I don't like coincidences.
I freely admit that I didn't do enough to protect my login credentials as I used the same userid and password on multiple sites (since corrected). I still don't know how my account was accessed. I started to wonder if there may have been a key logger installed on my Imac without my knowing it. I am pretty careful with installing software and have purchase about 15 applications, all either from the itunes store, or from other reputable sources. I have never made any in-app purchases.
I understand that to install a key logger you would need to supply the admin password, which brings me to my question....
About 4 weeks ago, my wife was using the Imac on facebook. While she was there, the Imac experienced a hard crash. We had to do push and hold the button on the back of Imac to get it to shut down and reboot. When it came up, it required the admin password, and dropped me into a mode where it wouldn't recognize the external disk drive which was attached via USB. I needed to restart the machine and everything appeared to be normal. I assumed that this was Apples version of "safe" mode, but now I am not so sure. Could a key logger have been installed during this event? Is this expected behavior after a hard reset?
I have McAfee for Mac installed and it hasn't detected any threats, but McAfee is pretty wishy-washy on it's ability to detect key loggers. I am thinking about Macscan or Little Snitch. I would do a reinstall of the OS, if I only knew how.
Any help?your itunes accoutn have nothing to d with your computer

i can not launch browser toget version info or anything else, when it upgraded to newest version it stopped working-i've tried launching in Safe Mode and have tried all icons
You can save a copy of your passwords file, but I don't think you can open it without Firefox.
Your passwords file is in your profile folder. You might want to make a backup copy of the whole folder. Info on locating the folder: [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Profiles Profiles | How to | Firefox Help].
You may want to try reinstalling Firefox 3.6. You can download the installer from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all-older -

My iMac at start up goes to the apple logo with the spinning symbol under neath it.
After a while it goes into a screen with a prohibited symbol.
I can't boot it into safe mode or single user mode only thing I can do is press the control, option and p,r keys and that leads me to a locked screen with a bar under neither it for me to type a password or something I've tried my admin password many times and nothing happens
WHAT DO I DOSounds like you have a firmware password set.
As you can't do that accidentally, you surely must know the password (which is different from your admin password)? -
Completed recommended steps of Safe Mode, Default Themes, Extensions, Hardware Accelerators. In the Options setup, Security, The box to "Remember Passwords for Sites" is still greyed out & unusable.

Prompts me for a Safe Mode Password and the reenter
When I add a ADDS object powershell still prompts me for a Safe Mode Password and the reenter even thought I have the code below.
Where am I going wrong?
$SecurePassword = ConvertTo-SecureString "E#$rty1248" -Asplaintext -Force
Install-ADDSForest `
-SafeModeAdministratorPassword $SecurePassword `Please try it that way:
-safemodeadministratorpassword (convertto-securestring "Password1" -asplaintext -force)
However, this is highly discouraged.
Instead, I would recommend storing the obfuscated password in a file and then re-use it:
$file = "c:\pw.txt"
$pw = read-host -prompt "Password:" -assecurestring
$pw | ConvertFrom-SecureString | Set-Content $file
-safemodeadministratorpassword (Get-Content $File | ConvertTo-SecureString)

Putting into Safe Mode with 2 accounts both password protected
Hello, my iMac won't load only in guest mode can I use anything.. I tried to load in Safe Mode but won't. I have 2 accounts and they are both password protected. Please help!!!
The symptom may be unrelated to FileVault 2. I encountered the symptom with FileVault 2 disabled and with backward conversion (decryption) complete.
Apple reference for my bug report: 152162960. If the symptoms on your Mac compare to those on mine: progress may seem to cease during safe fsck.
Vito, as you are comfortable with the nvram command, please try the following:
sudo nvram boot-args="-v -x"
Restart the computer and note the last verbose lines that appear before you sense that progress has ceased. Then please add a note of those lines to this topic.
Additional questions
What model is your Mac?
What type of disk for the startup volume?
How many files on that volume?
Approximately how large are the attributes file and catalog file? (You might gain this information with a demo version of iDefrag.)
My current envronment
MacBookPro5,2
8 GB memory
startup from internal 320 GB rotational disk, Serial-ATA, Hitachi HTS723232L9SA62 (probably Travelstar 7K320)

Windows 8.1 safe mode password doesn't work
Using HP Pavilion 23 all in one model 23-b037c, 2012 windows 8.1.
During testing for internet connectivity was instructed to initiate msconfig and reboot in Safe Mode.
After rebooting the sign in security screen asked for my password. I entered my password that has worked for long time., but system said password incorrect reenter. tried numerous other passwords non accepted. changed MS account PW no good. Worked with HP support several hours for 2 days, trying all advanced trouble shooting solutions they recommended. Ran restore, backup and recovery etc. all failed. After one backup attempt error message said must get out of SAFE Mode.
How do you do this without correct password?
Ran Hard disk test passed OK. Now having to clean and remove all programs and personal files per HP Tech.. Will take several hours per HP sTech. Then will try again to run System recovery to original manufactures settings. Huge mess.
Big problem. Hope this works.
Q. Anyone ever have this problem?
How do you bypass password security screen to access Windows 8.1 without going through this extensive process? tried several password recovery options non worked.
Tried all Advanced troubleshooting options offered by HP Tech.
Preplexed and need help. ThanksHello @ea2,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.
I have read your post on how the Windows 8.1 safe mode password does not work on your desktop computer, and I would be happy to assist you in this matter!
To disable the built-in administrator account for Windows 8.1, I recommend following the steps in this document on How to Enable or Disable Built-in Elevated "Administrator" Account Windows 8 and 8.1. This should help to enter your password when booting into Safe Mode.
Please re-post with the results of your troubleshooting, and I look forward to your reply!

My MBP didn't recognise my password, started it in safe mode, I can see my files, but I don't know what to do next, as the image of reset password isn't selectable. I just moved from PC. Need help please...
Safe mode is not what you want in this case. Reboot to recovery mode - hold down cmd-R as the Mac reboots. Go past the language-selection screen, click the Utilities menu, then Terminal. Type:
resetpassword
Followed by the return key, and follow the prompts. Reboot normally when done.

Firefox 3.6.3 does not save history, nor passwords. I have read the forum and checked my settings in Privacy (all ok), I restarted Firefox in Safe mode (it still does not remember history or passwords). Running on XP. I think these problems started when I upgraded to 3.6.3.
I had the same problem after an upgrade to 3.6.3.
I was using password manager for a number of web sites before. Not using cookies but password manager.
After 3.6.3 auto upgrade it did not work.
I could not enter private browsing mode.
When I looked in tools>options>security at my saved passwords the list was blank. The button in the saved passwords dialog that normally says "Show saved passwords" was actually blank (the button was there but there was no text on it).
I did have my old bookmarks and was able to create new ones but oddly the bookmark all tabs menu function wouldn't work.
I decided to reinstall firefox 3.6.3. There is no way something with that many bugs got out!
I was able to get the full firefox executable from http://mozilla.com
I closed all firefox windows and ran the installation.
After re-running the install and starting firefox everything was fine. It must have been a bad download or the original install got messed up somehow.
I hope you have the same good fortune I had! -
The problem is with not with every website, just one. This is a site that previously remembered my username & pw, but I changed the pw and the prompt did not display to update it, so I deleted it from the Firefox/Options/Security/Saved Passwords tab, and now when I type in the new pw, it's still not asking me whether I want to remember the pw (nor does it remember the old pw). I tried Safe Mode and I tried resetting Firefox. Neither one worked.
You can check if there are entries in the password manager with an empty user name.<br />
Remove saved Password(s):
* Tools > Options > Security: Passwords: "Saved Passwords" > "Show Passwords"
You can also check the exceptions.
* Tools > Options > Security: Passwords: Exceptions
You can remove all stored data from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry (Show All History or History sidebar) or via the about:permissions page.
Using "Forget About This Site" will remove everything like bookmarks, cookies, passwords, cache, history, and exceptions from that domain, so be cautious and if you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make a note of those passwords and bookmarks.<br />
You can't recover from that "forget" unless you have a backup of the affected files.
It doesn't have any lasting effect, so if you revisit such a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.
