Criteria Alerts in Bridge?

Does Adobe Bridge have the capability to quickly scan a folder full of images and flag or alert you based on predetermined criteria? For example, in a folder consisting of +100 images I'd like to know if any of the images are 300 resolution, or >2500 pixels wide/height, etc. without having to click on each file individually.

These might be a starter for you...

  • Email alerts in Bridge CS4

    Hello there!
Is there a script that instructs Bridge to email an alert or similar when an item is put into a certain location?
    For example:
A new piece of work is dropped in a folder marked 'REPRO WORKFLOW' on a server. An email is then fired off to a specific user(s) informing them of this.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks in advance,
    ATG Dan

  • Find in Bridge

    Hi All:
Im having a problem with the find command in Bridge. Basically it cant
seem to find anything. It cant even find a file in a folder that Im
looking at with Bridge. No mater what search criteria I select Bridge
reports that there is nothing to find. It used to work but at about the
time I installed a network attached drive it quit. Not at the exact time
but shortly after. The strange part is I have Photoshop CS3 on 2 computers,
a desktop and a laptop, and the find command has quit working on both
systems. It doesnt mater if Im searching on a local disk or on the
network disk, it find never finds anything anymore. Ive tried resting
preferences on both Bridge and Photoshop with no good results. Ive tried
just giving up on bridge, and using infaview as a replacement and it works
great as a viewer and selecting files to edit in Photoshop, but with out a
way to rate files and to find those rated files, its limiting and real
pain to search through 5000 photos. Both computers are running WinXP with
all the latest updates, and Bridge, ACR and CS3 also are updated. Both the
laptop and desktop all have 3gig of memory. Im considering the idea of a
reinstall but I dont really want to, so does anyone of an idea what to try
next? After reading what I wrote, it sure looks like some weird interaction
with the software for the network drive. Has anyone heard of such a thing?
    John Passaneau

I am not a expert in anything, but seems to me if you have the same problem on both computers it is not how Bridge is installed, but how it is reading data, especially since it worked before. Perhaps it does not know where to find the cache file, it is full, or corrupted. But you said you reset default preferences, so that is strange. I will throw out another idea for a test.
I have Vista 32 OS and a moderate speed quad core chip. I have one folder that has 835 pictures of about 2.6 meg each. The thumbnails were built some time ago and I have the option "cache in folder" checked, and low quality thumbs. I clicked on the folder and it took less than 2 seconds for the spinning arrow to stop, showing it had loaded all thumbs. (It would take considerably longer to build it the first time, probably 1-2 min.)
Try this on your machine and see how long it takes to build thumbs on a significant number of files. Preferably do this with several folders in case your system is overwriting folder thumbs. Then close the program and restart your computer, open Bridge and click on folder and see how long it takes to load the thumbs.
If it is more than a couple of seconds it is probably rebuilding them and therefore they are not indexed for searching. If it loads promptly then I don't know what next.

  • Bridge 5 operational bug?

BACKGROUND:  I have reconstructed the file arrangement of my 8 tera-byte, 630,00 image photographic archive.  All directories had BridgeCache files fully created.  The two master caches (to address the 500,000 image "limit") were constructed on an external esata/usb drive.  The option choses for the "Build Cache for Folders" had the "Export Cache to Folders" disabled under the assumption that it was not necessary since the master cache was being rebuilt from the folder BridgeCache files.   The reconstruction was done on a laptop running Bridge 5 under the Win XP operating system.  This multiple week operation completed successfully and the generated master casche systems work on both the WinXP lap-top as well as my main Win7 64bit workstation - with one excpetion.  This exception (I think) is a bug in Bridge.
DESCRIPTION of OPERATION:  I invoke Bridge in multiple ways.
    1. Start bridge initiated from the desk-top icon.
    2. Start bridge by drag-and-drop of the .BridgeCacheT file onto the desk-top icon.
    3. Start bridge by double clicking on the .BridgeCacheT file (associated with Bridge5)
    4. Start bridge by drag-and-drop of an image file onto the desk-top icon.
    5. Start bridge from another programme using the Win API function "ShellExecute" using the Bridge.exe path name and a path to a selected image (or .BridgeCachet) file as arguments.
    6. Start bridge from the Command Prompt using the Bridge.exe path name and a path to a selected image  (or .BridgeCachet) file as arguments.
If Bridge is started using 1,2,3 or 4 above, the operation is as expected for all rebuilt directories - thumbs are shown "very fast" and are properly constructed with whatever crop and other correction was made in Adobe Camera Raw.  This action is noted on both the Win7 workstation as well as the WinXP laptop.
If bridge is started by method 5 or 6, the operation is varied but identical on both computers.  If I access a directory that was created AFTER the cache rebuild described above (i.e. a new photography project), operation is fast and works rapidly with all thumbs and preview images being displayed properly.
If I access a directory (using 5 or 6) that was created by by the rebuild but has not yet been re-processed the following is noted:
    a. The Build Criteria stage of Bridge takes a long time searching all files in the directory.
    b. Thumnail and preview extraction start immediately after the Build Criteria stage is completed  (in spite of having the images already an properly in the master cache and in the .BridgeCache file);  Initial thumb display seems to be embedded thumbs in the image file - which is "fixed" during the processing.
Both of the above are very noticeable when I view the network activity with Windows Task Manager.
If I terminate Bridge at this point with the caches not reconstructed, I can restart Bridge by methods 1, 2, 3, or 4 above and the fully built thumbs and preview images are "instantly" available.  If I then restart Bridge using methods 5 or 6 above, the thumb/preview images rebuild takes place again - from where it left off in the previous attempt.
If I allow this rebuild for the directory to go to completion, I can restart bridge by any of the above 6 methods and the "reconstructed" images are immediately available.  The only network activity noted is a very low level doing what I assume to be a consistency/currency check for "unexpected" image file changes.
Browsing the master cache 256 and 1024 directories with the FastStone viewer before and after the rebuild yield no identifiable changes to the thumb nor preview files.
THE BUG:  It seems that, if bridge is started from the command prompt or by another programme, it may reprocess the images in a directory unexpectedly - in spite of the fact that starting bridge with normal desk-top icon or drag and drop do not cause the directory to be reprocessed.
My assumption is that ANY of the above 6 methods of invoking Bridge 5 SHOULD BE identical in operation.
I also notice that, if I start Bridge with the WinAPI ShellExecute function with ONLY the path the Bridge.exe (no file is specified), Bridge will start cleanly without an attempt to build any thumb/preview images.
It seems to me that the problem is associated with having a file name passed as an argument when using the Command Prompt or the WinAPI functions.
    Thank you,
    tony

It really would be nice if Adobe could provide a "fixit tool" that would update the cache structure to flag the various constructed cache directories as current and up to date in such a way that a rebuild and data duplication would not be done.  This would go a long way to making cache rebuilds from the .BridgeCache files a useful tool.
P.S.  This file processing problem did not happen when CS5 was released and I migrated from Bridge CS4 to CS5.  Hopefully a fix can be provided.

  • FABridge is not working in IE 7.0

I am using dijit.dialog(From Dojo toolkit) for generating
popup/dialog. Flex/swf is loaded in the Dialog and when i try to
access the swf file in IE 7.0 using FABridge its not working, but
    its working in Mozilla.
Following JavaScript function will be called when I click on
    button in Dialog popup
    function AddItem(){
    try{
    var flexApp = FABridge.AddSpecCategoryApp.root();
    catch (e) {
    alert("flash Bridge error: " + e.name + " " + e.message );
    Flex embeded in dijit.dialog:

I have added debug statements in FABridge__bridgeInitialized
in FABridge.js, while dialog is loading its invoked and registered.
But when I try to access .root , I am getting "Object doesn't
support this property or method". Help me to resolve this issue
    ASAP.
This help us to decide on FLEX for our project. Its bit
    critical.

If you're using a newer compiler, you can use the "-target 1.1" option to specify that the class files generated should work with a 1.1 version JVM. However, it is better to compile your code with JDK 1.1 if you will run it with a version 1.1 JRE -- that way, you don't use newer library features. You can get a version 1.1 compiler from the Products & APIs link on Sun's Java website.

  • File saveAsOpen and Base64 encoding...

In order to send the activeDocument to a web service, i need to save is as a file image, and send in an xml format.
Thus, i also need to encode it in Base64.
At this point everything is OK.
But between the saveAs of the file, its reopening, and its encoding, its corrupted.
I receive an error on the Mongrel server.
The Base64 encoder seems to work well, the rest of the code seem to be also ok, so I think my problem is either I do not save it correctly, either i do not reopen it correctly...
    Please save me :(

  • How do I recreate Bridge Cache after Purge?  Stuck on rebuilding criteria.

Bridge had a problem and displayed alert that central cache should be purged, which I did.  Having closed it out and reopened, it is stuck on "rebuilding criteria".  Have left it on for 12 hours and exited program.  Using  a Macbook pro, OS X 10.8.4

I paste below the solution to my own very similar problems - having just lost a day and most of the night thinking of possible solutions I hope I can save you some time . . . Good luck
    I HAVE THE ANSWER!
Apologies for shouting but this is my solution:
    1) Make sure the 'good' files are backed up first
    2) As Winston said, turn off icloud in pages and icloud settings
    3) As Winston said, reboot any devices
    4) The solution . . . open Safari browser and sign in to icloud - the key here, is that I was previoulsy using Google Chrome as my browswer. I saw ALL my files there, included the ghost files that were not visible in Chrome. I deleted the lot, one by one. When I switched icloud back onto ipad and iphone all the ghosts were gone. iCloud is working on all three devices (PC included) and I have cancelled my Genius Bar appointment (hopefully not too early). I hope this saves others the day and night its taken me!!

  • Bridge CC - Stuck building criteria

I recently upgraded to the Adobe CC suite from the Adobe CS5 suite. Bridge CC was working fine until I upgraded my Mac to the new mac OS X version - Maverik. Since then, when I open Bridge CC the interface opens but none of the files respond to any interaction on my part (click, enter, etc.) A spining circle along with text that says "BUILDING CRITERIA" appears and remains churning. A dialouge box then appears and suggests that I purge the cache from the Bridge prefrence panel. When I do so, the prefrence panel and the entire interface lock up and will not respond to anything other than a force quite.
My only option is to open Bridge CS5 to views image files which then opens the image file in Adobe CS5 camera raw and then opens that file in Photoshop CS5.
Can anyone please offer me some help with this Bridge CC issue?
    Thank You!

Glad to hear you are somewhat back in business and yes, Cocktail is easy to use, good and cheap. It also can run on auto pilot to automate the tasks
Caching can take some time but that depends on many variables.
You should have a reasonable fast computer with enough RAM (1 GB is the minimum required but won't get you far, especially when you have other apps also running in the background.) so at least 4 GB is needed, preferable as much as you can store in your machine, RAM is very very cheap nowadays and you will profit a lot.
Then there is the disk space, for normal HD you need at least 20 % free space left, using SSD also is a lot faster.
The size and amount of the files is also an important factor, naturally large, big files take more time then smaller files.
However 6 files a minute would be more about 1,5 GB sized files and I don't suppose you are using that??
Under normal conditions with reasonable fast machine  and normal Raw, dng and jpeg files 1 file per  1- 2 seconds would be more appropriate I would think. I use a Mac Pro with 32 GB RAM and SSD, and can not really even time the files while caching…
Be sure to have set the quality to Always HQ and don't use 'generate 100 % previews' because the latter is taking much time and very much space in the Cache folder.
It is very hard to check all things from distance, but for sure, the behavior you are describing is not normal, nor should your Mac go in sleep mode while Bridge is still active.
Just for testing, create a new user account and try if Bridge is still acting so slow. If not you should consider to use the OSX Recovery disk, but first back up and read the manual!

  • CS6 adobe bridge stuck on building criteria!!

can anyone tell me why bridge is permanently stuck on building criteria on my CS6 Adobe bridge - on my Mac
I never had this problem on my CS5 version. I never ever changed any of the default settings so something is seriously wrong with the default settings on CS6
for it to be stuck like this.
I have removed photoshop entirely and reinstalled it to try and see if i can tewak the options but it wont let me - i have to force quit to close the application
which seems to be building criteria for hours on end.
I have even left it for 24 hours to build the cache - but this did not help at all.
any ideas before i remove the whole thing and go back to using CS5!
    thanks

Ask in the Bridge forum. Chances are your BridgeCache is corrupted and you simply need to delete it.

  • Bridge freezes - Building Criteria

This problem just began two days ago using Bridge CC. No hardware changes - nothing except accepting whatever CC updates have come up.
I open Bridge, navigate to a folder, and everything seems fine. Click on any other folder, and Bridge locks up with the "Building Criteria" message and arrows spinning ... forever.
Then I try to exit Bridge. Everything seems OK, but it will not restart. Looking at the Task Manager shows Bridge process is still running. End Process and/or End Process Tree in task manager does nothing. A cold start is required to reload Bridge.
Have purged cache and prefs to no avail. Updated video driver.

Thank you for your comments Omke. Realizing none of us are mind readers, my first post in this thread included roughly 200 lines of system info. I can understand why you may not have wanted to read all of it, but the pertinent systems information was included there, including on lines 3 and 4 ...
    Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit
    Version: 6.1 Service Pack 1
As far as exact actions and file locations, sorry I replied from a mobile device. I should not have replied with partial or "remembered" information.
My first attempt was to hold down the <Alt> key while double clicking the Adobe Bridge CC Icon on the Windows Desktop. That did not resolve the "Building Criteria" message.
My second action was to navigate to C:\Users\Ted\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Bridge CC where I deleted folders entitled Cache, Collections, and Workspaces. That just changed everything but did not resolve the problem ... which I state again:
I open Bridge, navigate to a folder, and everything seems fine. Click on any other folder, and Bridge locks up with the "Building Criteria" message and arrows spinning ... forever.
Then I try to exit Bridge. Everything seems to close OK, but double clicking on the Bridge Icon does not relaunch Bridge. Looking at the Task Manager shows the Bridge process is still running. End Process and/or End Process Tree in the Task Manager does nothing (Bridge apparently is capable of ignoring the End Process command). A cold start is required to reload Bridge
Hopefully this adds clarity to the issue.

  • Bridge cannot build criteria, goes on and on and then tells me to clear cache, which I've done, but it still cannot open. I can see everything in the Mac Finder no problem. What to do?

I recently moved all of my images to a Mac from a Dell. Everything was perfect, but a few weeks ago I started getting an error message in Bridge that it could not read (not sure of this) the criteria and that I should go into preferences and clear the cache. Which I did. Now when I open bridge it sees a few images and then says it's building criteria, for like hours, and then the same error comes back. I don't know what to do.  Any ideas? I can see everything in Finder or search, everywhere but bridge. it's the same for .psd, .jpg or raw.
    Thank you,
    Cheryl

  • CS6 E Bridge Slow to load thumbnails, 'building criteria'

When Bridge opens on the folder it was last opened/closed in, it takes a long time to load, constantly 'building criteria' as if all the images are newly imported. I've searched the forums, have tried all the tweaks and settings, but it's still iceberg slow.  Bridge CS5 is noticeably quicker, as if the cache info is being read immediately. CS6 is behaving as if the cache file has been deleted. It hasn't. I have tried the "flush the cache" to see if maybe it's corrupted. No joy. I have boosted cache size. No joy. I've compacted, automatically exported cache to folders, everything... Nothing seems to fix the snail slowness.
All Adobe updates have been applied.
    i7-2600s @2.80GHz
    8 gb DDRw ram
    Nvidia GeForce GT420 1gb DDR3
    6+ tbs hd space.

I could understand the glacial slowness if the beta version had also been so slow. Or if CS5 Bridge was also as slow.
Did not read this whole (long) thread but in general when a previous version of Bridge did work faster then the following this almost certainly is related to your system itself.
While building criteria in filter panel has a mind of its own and especially when opening a second window to fast (when first window is just finished caching or building filter panel) it may take ages. closing this window and open a new one usually succeeds.
However when this always takes a long time the problem seems related to the cache (most Bridge problems are...)
Purging cache using preferences or menu commands is not always the correct solution. Using Bridge CS5 and PS CS6 is also not the perfect solution.
If you can spare the time you should consider a proper back up of custom settings, actions tools, keywords, templates etc. and a complete reinstall.
I don't have the correct info for Windows and searching on Adobe.com isn't easy anymore. Here are some old Knowledge base articles (it's about CS4 but changes are locations are still the same)

    http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/preference-file-functions-names-locations-1.html
and also read about the Adobe Cleaner Tool and decide if this is an option for you.
    http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html
    If you decide to reinstall:
Deactivate the software and use the official uninstaller that comes with the application itself and then use the clean tool for Adobe:
Double check if your Cache folder has been deleted (I'm on Mac, don't know the location for Windows but on Mac it is in the user library caches folder)
Install CS6 again. Obvious you have to set your custom preferences again and also need to recache your files but if you have a main folder with many subfolders containing the files just select the main folder and in the menu View select 'show items for subfolders' and let it do it's caching overnight.
In my experience every new version of CS has been faster and more stable (well, except the disaster CS3 version for Bridge...) then its predecessor.

  • I cannot use bridge it is stuck in building criteria.

Has anyone else noticed that Adobe is NO HELP AT ALL! I cannot get a person to assist me and I have been trying for 2 months! A refund would be great! I cannot use bridge it is stuck in building criteria. I have reinstalled on M AC and still NOTHING

These are user forums.  Perhaps we can help with your problem.
First you need to visit the Bridge forums: Bridge General Discussion
Then state your problem clearly and give them some information about your system.
The more information you supply about your situation, the better equipped other community members will be to answer. Consider including the following in your question:
    Adobe product and version number
    Operating system and version number
The full text of any error message(s)
What you were doing when the problem occurred
    Screenshots of the problem
Computer hardware, such as CPU; GPU; amount of RAM; etc.

  • Bridge search criteria doesn't find files but the exact same criteria finds files in the Finder

I am wondering if anyone has been having the same problem that I have been having. I can't seem to get any results back from the Bridge when I create a smart collection but when I enter the exact same criteria in the Finder I get lots of results. I took a screen shot of both programs if any one can catch something I am doing wrong. To me it looks exactly like the same search criteria in both apps.
    Here are the screen shots:

    Hi Holly,
I've been doing a lot of reading on and off and my office just decided to get a server and either extensis portfolio, or canto cumulus, both are software packages that have been designed from the beginning to do exactly what we want.
The drag is that they are expensive, but I was spending so much time trying to tweak out bridge and trying different scripts and blah blah blah, that I wasn't taking pictures, so that's what we decided to go with.
I've worked with Canto Cumulus in another job and it is really great, some people told me to check out extensis so I'm looking into both right now.
Sorry, but that's the best solution for us, just use something else instead of bridge for the network.

  • The 'Find Criteria' in Bridge no longer finds my keywords.

    RE: CS5
    Operating System: OS X 10.9.4
I recently tried to use my Adobe Bridge 'Find Criteria' and it is not locating any files that have been tagged with keywords.  The keywords assigned to the files are still there when I click on the file.  However, when I do a FIND>Criteria>Results Match: If all criteria are met OR If any criteria are met - nothing works.  'NO ITEMS TO DISPLAY' comes up.
Note - If I go into a file folder after and open all subfolders associated with the main folder and then I do a FIND>Criteria it then locates those items that I opened each file individually.  These files will then be located in any search BUT not unless I go manually and open all files related.
Also, none of the Smart Collections worked either.  So I deleted them.  This was before I realized I had a much bigger problem.
FIND does not seem to locate anything unless, I physically go into all my files and open each one.  This would be extremely time consuming and not a solution.  Somehow something is disabling or something else? I can't seem to find any solution.
I've also gone into Cache and emptied anything related.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Should this ever happen to you, finally I think I've resolved the problem.
Recently, when I was repairing another problem with my operating system (Maverick 10.9.4) I believe I must have deleted or destroyed 'my previews' of keywords associated with a number of specific files.  So when I tried to Filter or use 'Find' in Bridge CS5 none of my files would come up.   The keywords were still there but the previews or filter wouldn't display any.
FYI, last week I was on the phone with Apple because my 'Finder' was extremely slooooww, it was taking 10-12 seconds to open.  They guided me through repairing and cleaning up to the point that the Finder opened up again within seconds.  It is at this time that I think we must have Cached all the previews and somehow deleted far to much.  Anyway, now I now there is a VERY SIMPLE solution.
    Here is what I did:
In Bridge, browse to your main folder or folders and go up to Tools>Cache>Build & Export Cache and check it to build 100% previews.  Let it re-build the previews.  This can take awhile depending on how many folders and files etc...
What I think happened is that when I reset my preferences, cleaned out my Cache etc...the program had to REBUILD the previews and now everything works fine again.  SO IT SEEMS that if previews aren't built, it has problems with showing filter results.
I think this would happen when going to a newer version of Bridge too.  I did read on another Forum that when someone went from CS3 to CS4 the same thing happened to them.  It is on that thread that I found my solution too!
