DFM tries to ping the IP 10.8.1.1 of the FW blade in chassis 10.9.0.222;
this is not possible (because there is no route, an ACL or...)
in most cases this is wanted, which means it is a false positive;
in DFM > Device Management go to 10.9.0.222 click "Device Details", select the IP in question (10.8.1.1) and change the managed state to false. Click OK and Apply the changes.

  • Cannot Clear Critical Alert for Physical Standby Databases

10.2.0.4.0 Grid Control monitoring 10.2.0.4.0 databases and standby databases with 10.2.0.4.0 agents.
The standby databases are running on Xen guests. The O/S is Red Hat 4 Advanced Server.
I had a failure of Xen guest on Saturday that caused me to have to rebuild the standby servers. EM Grid Control successfully verifies the configurations and the status is normal for both physical standby databases. (A rebuilt logical standby database shows no alerts.)
Grid Control database targets page shows a single critical alert for each physical standby database. The alert is for "number of missing media files is 4". The metric graph shows the count as 0 since before the rebuilds. I cannot clear the alerts from the Critical Alerts page. Grid Control reports "The selected alert(s) cannot be manually cleared. They will clear automatically once the metric is no longer in a critical or warning state.".
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Ray Westphal

    Thanks for the reply Anthony.
The result of the query on both standby databases is '0'. The metric graph also shows the value at '0' since before rebuilds.
And the OMS db and agents have been reset several times since I posted this.

  • Clear Old Critical Alerts in GC

    Hi,
Wondering if someone can offer a solution.
I've got some old critical alerts in a newly created OMS and repository that have been addressed and fixed that will not clear. I've tried the "clearstate" on the agent with no luck. I've got a SR open and am being told i need to change the template value and reapply - this is a ridiculous solution since I'll end up needing to do this regularly (i've been running gc since the beta release and have seen this issue ongoing in each release).
Any solutions out there to remove these old alerts?
    Alex

For our environment we create groups and templates. We assign these monitoring templates to the groups.
I ended up changing the value of the monitoring criteria on the specific target that was having a problem and the alert cleared. Then changed it back. Some of the targets I had to actually remove and re-add the target as you stated.
My SR says this will be fixed in 11g...

  • Critical Alerts/Maintenance Notifications

    Hi,
I am the primary contact for a POD and my user profile has the "Always Send Critical Alerts" checked as well.
However, I am still unable to receive any communication mails from Oracle for any planned maintenance/updates.
As an alternative, I need to check training and support OR the version information link for any planned activities.
Any idea on how to get notifications working.
    Regards,

This only happens a couple of times a year so i wouldnt expect you would notice this anyway. You should raise a SR with Oracle to be included on a email distribution lists that sends out information specific to your pod. He is a sample comminication i recieved from [email protected]

Which documentation would you reccomend? I've only found this:
    http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/em.102/b25986/toc.htm
It looks more like techical documentation than user documentation. I don't find many "how to"s in that particular doc.
This one is OK, but not detailed enough

It also doesn't identify which functions are free and which ones are licensable costing $$.

  • GRC 5.3 Access Control - Critical Alerts for permissions

We have successfully configured alerts for transactions, but we have not been able to generate any alerts to indicate when a user executes the transaction and makes a change.
Should the risk containing the function be saved as Critical Action or Critical Permission?
How should the auth object be added to the function?
I have noticed when adding a transaction to a function 5.3 does not import the auth objects like VIRSA backend clients.  Is this correct or was something missed in the configuration?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Joe

    Hi Pablo,
AC 5.3 release will have it's first anniversary in second half of 2009 and it is far better product than AC 5.2. Trust me, and go with AC 5.3, you won't be disappointed. Products in AC 5.2 are very restrictive and you will get frustrated with RE for sure.
The recommendations you provided came out of installation guide and other documents. These requirements are ok but I would not recommend you to go with them. Insted, it would be better to go through the sizing guiding and size your server accordingly.
SAP used to have AC 5.2 sizing guide but they have removed it from SMP as they have replaced it with sizing guide for AC 5.3. Here is the link to the guide:
    https://websmp203.sap-ag.de/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=00200797470000071612&_SCENARIO=01100035870000000112&_OBJECT=011000358700000435122007E
If you still want to go with AC 5.2 then open a message with SAP and they can provide you. I even has that guide so if you want it, I can share it with you.

  • False positive critical alert from OEM: number of missing media files is 7

    Hi all,
We were a bit stunned here as we got a page from OEM that the number of missing media files is 7! We ran the query only to find that there are none missing. One of the SR. DBA's said he thought he remembered seeing this months ago and it cleared itself soon after.
    SELECT COUNT(FILE#)
    FROM V$DATAFILE_HEADER
    WHERE RECOVER ='YES'
    OR ERROR IS NOT NULL;
After running that to verify the count is 0 (no missing files or corrupt files) I then looked in OEM at the alert and clicked the hyperlink to the graph that shows a spike to 7 then immediately went away so I assume this is some but in 10.2.0.4?
    Thanks,
    Dave

Missing Media File Count metric represents the count of missing media files.
You can remove it from monitoring template if don't need.
Here is with screenshots demonstrated that:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe10gEMR2/Quick_Start/system_monitoring/system_monitoring.htm
But basicaly under this message is select:
    SELECT count(file#)
    FROM v$datafile_header
    WHERE recover ='YES' OR error is not null;
Do you have any rows returned?

  • How to clear the alerts in Grid

    Hi,
    Grid version : 10.2.0.5
1)I would like to clear the alerts older than two days in grid.
We are monitoring more than 500DB's in grid.Is there any procedure to remove the alerts ?
2)How to clear or reduce the "All Targets Policy Violations" in grid.
3)How to clear or reduce the "Security Policy Violations" in grid.
Please need your help on this.
    Thanks.

    Open your Grid Control Console
    Go to Alerts --> Warning
    Select database and press go
You will see that the Clean button appear and checkbox for each warning alert that its possible manual clean you will see the checkbox to activate
The Critical Alerts can't clean manualy.
    OR
    1. Make a SELECT * from MGMT_CURRENT_SEVERITY and show for the TARGET_GUID, METRIC_GUID and KEY_VALUE.
    2. Connect to db user SYSMAN and execute:
    exec EM_SEVERITY.delete_current_severity(TARGET_GUID,METRIC_GUID,KEY_VALUE);
    for example:
    exec EM_SEVERITY.delete_current_severity('0DEB8E6980695B7548CF98871084AD10','F95BA0D95585002889E1ABF92B2DA7C3','SYS');
    3. Wait a few minutes.
The content of the MGMT_CURRENT_SERVERITY table is displayed as ALERTS or ADDITIONAL ALERTS in EM’s main menu. If you delete the ALERTS only in the MGMT_CURRENT_SEVERITY table, the alert messages appears still in some EM submenus.

  • SLA Alerts in DB polling proxy

    Hi
I have created a DBAdapter to poll a table in the database for any inserts/updates. Have adopted the Logical Delete processing.
Now I need to configure an SLA alert for the proxy service based on this DBAdapter.
The alert needs to be raised when no records have been updated/inserted for more than say 10 minutes.
The SLA Alert Rule I have defined is as follows:
    Rule Name   TriggerAlert
    Alert Destination   Poll_SLA/SLAQueue
    Start Time (H:MM)   3:00 AM
    End time (H:MM)   1:30 PM
    Rule Expiration Date (M/D/YYYY)   12/31/2011
    Rule Enabled   true
    Alert Severity   Critical
    Alert Frequency   Every Time
    Stop Processing More Rules   true
    Conditions
Condition Expression   Aggregation Interval 0 Hour(s) and 5 Minutes
    Operation.receive.Message Count = 0
But somehow the SLA Alert is not raised even if there are no inserts or updates for 5 minutes. The proxy service is polling the records correctly as I can see the log actions being executed.
Could someone help me in pointing out the configuration that I have missed or have wrongly done asap.
    Thanks & Regards

Edited by: Kshama Tamhankar on Dec 20, 2011 9:30 PM

    Hi,
I changed the Alert rule to Message Count=0 and the main setting that I had to change to raise the alert was in the Operational Settings tab of the Proxy service.
Monitoring: Enabled Pipeline Monitoring for Service Level and above. By default this is set as Pipeline Level.

  • GRC 10.0 Alerts not sending email

    HI everyone:
We have set up our alerts. We have created a couple of custom critical action functions and risks and assigned risk owners to the critical action risk.
We have scheduled the following jobs:
    GRAC_ACTION_USAGE_SYNC
    GRAC_ALERT_GENERATION.
When we go into the NWBC screen to view the alerts, the alert data is being generated successfully online.
However, an "alert email notification" is not going out to the risk owner. The risk owner has their email address populated on their user master record (they receive emails for Firefighter so that is working fine). We have reviewed the config parameters and don't see anything related to alerts?
Does anyone know why we might not be receiving alert emails??

If a host or the agent are not accessible, the notification is sent on my email.
How to solve this problem or where see Actions log.
I use the built in module of sending notificationns email.sh.
Whether it's necessary to adjust on each server "Sendmail" for sending notifications or to adjust "Sendmail" on a server where it's installed SunMC.
Enough in that case it's better to use Halcyon PrimeAlert EventAction????
    Any Idea?

You're right: if you're using the default out-of-the-box email actions, then you need to make sure sendmail is set up on every system with an Agent.
Quite often production systems are running restricted Solaris installs without sendmail, or are behind a firewall that denies email.. that's when you'd really want EventAction (so you only need sendmail on your SunMC Server).
EventAction really is the way to go for any kind of SunMC notification/integration... ...but I work for Halcyon, so you have to assume I'm a biased vendor :)

  • CCMS Sending too much Email (every few min from the same alert).

    Hi everyone,
We have recently setup CCMS in SOLMAN to monitor all of our ECC6 systems.  Using auto-reactions we have any critical alerts sent to our pagers via email (SMTP).
Setting this up worked fine, however, we are finding ourselves in this mess:
When we trigger an alert, it seems that the alert just keeps producing hundreds of email messages...
Is there a way to have each alert found produce 1 or 3 email messages - then stop?  It may take some time to correct an alert, but, we do not want to be paged every 2-5 min with tons of email (one per first time triggering it would be awesome).
Thanks in advance for any help you can give us.
