What is the best installlation document to follow for the latest EM Grid control ?The latest Grid Control is available for download at http://download.oracle.com (Scroll down to "Enterprise Management"). There is a README beside the download link. THAT README PROVIDES INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS.
In a nutshell, you install the lowest version (10.2.0.1 or 10.2.0.2, which ever is lower for your Grid Control platform), and then apply the 10.2.0.5 patch according to the readme. That should not normally take more than a day.

Also, can GRID discover PeopleSoft and Siebel application software ?
That can be found using the self-help portal: http://otn.oracle.com -> Products : Enterprise Management (left edge menu). In the 'Product Focus' area, you will notice 'Application Management' which will lead you to the appropriate data sheets and supporting information.

To reinforce what was mentioned in the first response...
There is no "urgent" in these forums and your statement that everyone must jump to your request just because you say so is rude.
You have been a viewer of these user-to-user OTN forums for more than a year. That is far long enough to know better.
For the future, whenever you have a critical business need for information, you will need to use your support credentials and log a SR ro Oracle Technical Support. Be prepared each time to prove to them that such a need exists.

  • Driver issue for Oracle Enterprise Linux

    Hi All,
I have just installed Oracle Enterprise Linux. I was not able to access network. After doing lspci -- i found that my ethernet conrtoller : Atheros Communications AR8151 Gigabit Ethernet.
Can any one tell how to install driver for this ?

    What is your output of:
    <pre>
    lsb_release -d
    uname -r
    </pre>
What kernel driver is in use or loaded regarding your Ethernet card when you check the output of lspci -v"?
Note that Oracle Linux just like any other Red Hat Enterprise Linux is not designed for typical consumer grade Laptops and Desktop systems.
Does your computer vendor provide any driver software for Enterprise Linux? You might be able to find 3rd party driver support using http://elrepo.org/tiki/tiki-index.php as a temporary yum software repository. Probably kmod-atl1 or similar.

  • Where to download openmotif for oracle enterprise linux?

    Hello,
I am in the process of installing OEM Grid 10204 on Linux 2.6.18-128.el5 on Oracle Enterprise Linux. I am checking the packages required for installation and I need openmotif21-2.1.30-11. Where can I download openmotif21-2.1.30-11 and its dependencies from Oracle website? Can I download this package from another non-oracle website? Thank you in advance.

If you have Oracle Enterprise Linux media CD you can mount it, find the RPMs directory and install
    rpm -Uvh openmotif21-2.1.30-9.RHEL3.6.i386.rpm
or you can download the RPM for RHEL from internet, that should works too.

  • What is Oracle Enterprise Linux exactly?

    Hello Community,
I am very fond of knowing what is OEL actually? What I know is:
    1. The kernel which is compatible to RHEL and modified by Oracle own.
    2. The required packages which are required by  Oracle products are preinstalled in OEL.
    3. All the necessary updates and fixes are provided by Oracle rather than RHEL.
Please let me know if above all are true and also share other facts or OEL.
Another fact which I doubtfully know is, Oracle Linux (depending on licensing) contains Oracle Database software and all the prerequisites inside it..
Please share your thoughts and correct me if I am wrong.

Firstly i am new to the Peoplesoft apps and i will be doing an internal implementation for Peoplesoft HRMS.As advised by my manager, he asked me to use oracle Enterprise Linux OS for the Peoplesoft server. Well what i need to you know from the experience people here, which Linux 32 or 64 that is more suitable or better for peoplesoft to run on. Please help me on this. Thanks.

{...} So i guess the best solution is to go for the 32-bits.Am i making the right decision??All the discussion above was true till the 3rd of March'09, but not anymore.
Amusing, Peoplesoft changed the support for 64-bits OEL/RHEL the day after the last reply in this thread (mine of the 2nd of March).
If it is not too late for you, go for 64-bits, it is required OEL/RHEL 5.2 min and Peopletools 8.49.14 min.
Please, find out more in the announcement on metalink3 :

  • Diff between oracle linux and oracle enterprise linux?

    hi all,
i am new to this flavor of Linux. I know oracle linux has red hat source, but i am confused about the difference betweek oracle linux which comes in versions 4 (upto update 8) and 5 (latest update being 5).
i need to install oracle enterprise linux at a client place, so i gota know the difference.
Should i be installing oracle Linux first and then run the rpm of "Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel"? or is the "Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel" only for customers who require this kernal on oracle linux update 5 x86_64?
    thanks

    waldorfm wrote:
From what I understand Oracle Enterprise Linux (OEL) is a rebranded version of Red hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
Oracle Linux (OL) is OEL plus Oracle optimization and custom, newer kernel. OL with Oracle "Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel" is available as x86_64 only and was introduced based on OEL or RHEL 5.5.
You can install OEL 5.4 and easily upgrade to OEL 5.5, PMFJI, but can you point me to docs on how to make that upgrade? The timing of this msg on the forum was exquisite, as I started looking at that just today. I have an OEL 5.4 installation and would much rather upgrade to 5.5 than to have to rebuild from scratch.
I did a yum install kernel with the 5.5 version of the public-yum-el5.repo. That went without a hitch and now reports "2.6.32-100.0.19.el5 #1" where I was 2.6.18-164.el5, but I also see
    [root@myserver ~]# uname -a
    Linux myserver 2.6.32-100.0.19.el5 #1 SMP Fri Sep 17 17:51:41 EDT 2010 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
    [root@myserver ~]# cat /etc/enterprise-release
Enterprise Linux Enterprise Linux Server release 5.4 (Carthage)
    [root@myserver ~]# cat /etc/redhat-release
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.4 (Tikanga)Bottom line is that I am charged with updating the kernel to a 2.6 version newer than 19 Sep, or applying a patch for the compat_alloc_user_space() function, and am not sure exactly how to proceed from here.
if you like or start to install from version 5.5, and then install OL 5.5 by downloading the Oracle public yum repository and follow the instructions at http://public-yum.oracle.com
