  • Issue installing CRM 2011 for Outlook 2013

I am trying to install the Dynamics CRM addin for Outlook but I keep getting the following Error
The Installation has failed. Dr. Watson installation has failed. Click the link below to view the log file.
I have tried consulting the log file but it has almost 20000 entries so it is really looking for a needle in a hay stack.
Internet searches haven't helped much. Anyone got any suggestions
    (Windows 8.1, Office 2013)

    Hi,
Please first make sure you have right permission to install programs on your computer. Please try to run the setup file as Administrator to check the result.
Seems the CRM needs .Net framework to be enabled, please go to Control Panel > Programs and Feature > Add/Remove windows features and make sure the .Net is enabled.
We can also try to perform a Windows clean boot and then install CRM to check if the problem is caused by software conflict. See:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
In addition, since this this forum is for general questions and feedback related to Outlook and you question is more related to Dynamics CRM, it's better to post your question to the forum for Dynamics CRM:
    http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/home?category=dynamics&filter=alltypes&sort=lastpostdesc
The reason why we recommend posting appropriately is you will get the most qualified
pool of respondents, and other partners who read the forums regularly can either share their knowledge or learn from your interaction with us.
    Thank you for your understanding.

    Thx for response Daniel.
Attachements are stored directly in CRM DB (in Annotation table).
I have also tried fiddler. And it looks response was OK (200). I think its problem with CRM for outlook client.

  • CRM 2011 Outlook plugin corrupts emails

Hi, we have CRM 2011 server with rollup 14 installed, using CRM 2011 for Outlook plugin. One client PC's Outlook client is corrupting many emails when set to track in CRM.
I have removed CRM, removed all registry entries pertaining to CRM, repaired Office 2013, reinstalled CRM 2011, applied rollup 14, and this still happens. Every PC I configure with the account and open the email, it crashes Outlook. I have run scanPST on
the OST, run the repair requests in Exchange server 2010. I have deleted the forms cache.
When an email gets corrupted, when opened in Outlook it says "Could not install the custom actions" and then Outlook 2013 crashes. It does this in Outlook 2010 also. In OWA, it says:
"The item can't be opened because it's become corrupted. The entire error report is listed below"

There's nothing in the error report to hint that the problem is related to CRM. The error report contains references to voting data. Does the problem email have voting buttons enabled on it? In Outlook 2013, when you create a new email message there is
a Options tab with a feature called Use Voting Buttons. Perhaps this feature has a problem on its own, or when voting emails are tracked in CRM?

  • CRM 2011 Outlook Client not showing all columns in Opportunity Views

    Versions:
    CRM: 2011 On-Premise - 5.0.9688.1533
    Outlook: 2010 Professional - 14.0.6122.5000 32bit
    CRM Client for Outlook: 5.0.9690.1992
    Basic Problem
The Outlook Client views that show up in Opportunities do not have all the columns that are in the view.
Some of the views do, but not all of them.
    Example:
    View Name: Won Opportunities
Columns in view: Created on, Location, Quote Type, Scope of Work, Quote Number, Booked Sale Date.....8 other
    columns (many custom columns)
Columns in View in Outlook: Icon, Quote Number, Categories, Flag....thats all.
    Other Notes
This only happens in the Opportunity section of the Outlook Client.
This does not happen in advanced find in Outlook or anywhere in the web client. This does not happen for any other entity.
This happens on all of our users Outlook clients.
I have tried recreating the view.
No error messages are recording in any logs that I can find.
Any ideas on why this is happening or how to fix it?
    Thank you
    Paul

    1. Are you sure this is a System View and not a User Defined View? Can you take a screenshot of all the availalbe Outlook views when you click on the little down arrow to add a new view? Yes.  See the screen shot at the bottom.  It is a public
    view.
    2. What happens when you close the view and add it back?  same results.
    3. What happens when you restart Outlook? I ask because if you customized your System Views, those are only persistent for a given session. If your restart Outlook, then it should reset the View.  we have tried that.  and uninstalled Outlook client
and reinstalled.  And uninstalled Outlook and reinstalled.  Same results.  The only view that works for opportunities is the Default Custom View.  The strange thing is that the filters are working just fine. just not the columns.
    4. A workaround - have you tried creating a new System View similar to the one you want? Yes.  same results

  • CRM 2011 - Exporting a view in 2011 Outlook Client

Using CRM 2011 on - premise with 2011 outlook client RU17
For a few custom entities exporting the default view to excel within Outlook Client results in a generic error pop up.
With tracing on I see the following error:
System.Web.HttpUnhandledException: Microsoft Dynamics CRM has experienced an error. Reference number for administrators or support: #0086DABC: System.Web.HttpUnhandledException (0x80004005): Exception of type 'System.Web.HttpUnhandledException' was thrown.
---> Microsoft.Crm.CrmException: Number of link entities in query exceeded maximum limit.
The same view exports to Excel with no issues via IE.
I have seen references to this error but nothing that has helped or pointed out a difference to look at between the Outlook Client versus IE.
    Regards
    Robert

if this is machine specific and Outlook Client related then I would start with ensuring the machine has all the latest Office and OS updates not just the latest security patch but all the latest updates.  You'll also want to ensure there are no other
add-ins causing a conflict in Outlook, virus protection is not causing an issue, the machine has sufficient memory, etc.  Basically ensure the machine has been optimized for the Outlook Client.

  • Problem with CRM 2011 web front end cluster

    Hi.
We have a CRM 2011 (RU17) environment with a SQL DB server and 2 web front end CRM server in a cluster.
Since few days (about 10) it seems that one of the 2 nodes is not working, and since yesterday many users report access problems when calling the application by cluster name - as usual since we deployed CRM 1 year ago.
I tried myself, and I can run the application by cluster name without problems. If it try the separate notes addresses, one of them works, the other doesn't.
I checked the 2 web front end servers, and are (or seem) both properly configured, with all patches installed.
Following the information I got from Event viewer. Any suggestion welcomed!
    Many thanks and Best regards

We enabled the trace and we got
a http error page stating maxQueryStringLength was insufficient. We changed the maxQueryStringLength and QueryString values in the CRM web.config value to 10240.
We also noticed an error related to the DC being unavailable. We checked in the CRM registry hive and see in the non-working server you had a PreferredDc key pointing to “AMDNAD”. On pinging
AMDNAD we see it is not reachable. We removed the PreferredDc key and after iisreset we can navigate to crm.

  • CRM 2011: Sending Email through Outlook first

We have never used Email through CRM. Is it possible to send an email through Outlook first then to CRM? Also wanting to make sure it is linked to the Account, when sent.

Emails created in CRM are sent using the outgoing email method specified on the account of the user creating the email. Only one outgoing method can be set for a user, the methods are to use the CRM client for Outlook or the Email Router (later versions
of CRM also have Server-side synchronization but that is not available for CRM 2011).
An email created in CRM can only be sent via one of the outgoing methods. Regardless of how it is sent, the email will be stored in CRM and linked to the record it was regarded to.
Can you provide more detail on your question?

  • I was going to purchase Office for Mac 2011, including Outlook.  However, I am hearing many problems with this software including the inability to sync Outlook with iPhone and iPad

I currently sync my iPhone and iPad with Outlook on my Windows Desktop, but want to switch and still do this on my new Mac running Lion.  However what I am reading about the nightmares of syncing with Outlook in Office for Mac 2011 is making me think twice about going down this road.  What an awful situation of purchasing a Mac and being potentially stumped by 'Office for Mac 2011'.
I want to continue using Microsoft Office including Outlook for my business applications - but on the Mac.  I like Keynote for presentations, however I also have to create presentations in PowerPoint for some business situations.  So, although I don't ideally want to put Windows onto my Mac, would it be more efficient and less hassle to use Parallels 7, Windows 7 and Office 2010, rather than endure the issues associated with OFM 2011?
If I decide to use Parallels 7 and Windows 7 am I then into using software to protect against virus' and malware?
I wouldn't be asking this question if Office for Mac 2011 (including Outlook) wasn't a problem - sadly from what I'm reading, it is.
    Thank you in anticipation.

I just resolved my Outlook 2010 + iPhone Calendar sync issue today :  if you have multiple email accounts set up in Outlook (like I do), then you'll find that each account has it's own Calendar (a rather pointless feature IMO).  However you probably only use one Calendar like most people, and what has happened is that the mail account which is set as default for Data Files is not the one you are using.  Try this:
Outlook 2010 -->  Account Settings -->  click "Data Files" tab -->  select as default whichever acct. is associted with the Calendar you use.

  • CRM 2011 Data as an External List

    Hi,
Im having trouble creating an external data source in sharepoint designer 2010. I would like to consume the web services provided by CRM 2011 on Premise.
    http://crm.domain.com/Organization/XRMServices/2011/Organization.svc
I have tried many different types of URL but whenever i try to connect i get an error saying that the url did not return a valid description of an XML Web service.
I've tried many different URLs, ive added ?wsdl  and ?wsdl=wsdl0 etc. but i always get the same error.
If i put the URL in the browser I can see all the XML without any problems.
    Has anyone encountered this before?
Right now im looking into creating a BDC Model from Visual Studio instead but i was really hoping to be able to do this in SPD.
    Any help appreciated.

Hi, Sorry about not replying earlier.
Been busy. In the end this is how I got a list of CRM data into Sharepoint.
I actually took two different approaches.
One was to use sharepoint designer to access the Secure store key i created, and pull the data from the CRM database. Then i formated it in sharepoint designer. This is a supported approach. And if you use the filtered views provided in the CRM 2011 database
you will be able to get the security features on the data that you setup in CRM (for the user that you have configured the secure store key for ).
That is the easy way. The hard way is to create a new BDC Project for sharepoint. Then you can create a model, in XML that represents the various opperations you will do on the data. This will include, unique find, list, update, delete, etc.
Then you have to go and create those methods in the service class that comes with the model. (this is where you will write code to get the data from CRM)
My suggestion is to get that working first and load in some static data in the code. I had lots of headaches in this part especially with the model.
Say thats working and you were able to create a list that gets data from the new content type then the next thing is to go back into the code and add a web reference to the WSDL file from the CRM 2011 developer resources section on your installation. This
didnt work out of the box for me i had to read a lot of blogs to iron out little bits in the autogenerated code that didnt quite work for me. Also any .net 4 stuff is ruled out as well. But i managed to get the service object created with some CRM credentials,
(probably best to use the secure key again here to avoid having creds in the source, and to decouple any administrative tasks)
Next you can build queries and pull the data straight out of the CRM webservice. I would suggest starting with the list function ( its probably called something else ) and write the code to pull out all the items you want in the list, etc. Then move on to
    the other crud functions.
If you are looking for performance for reporting, etc. then use the filtered views, its faster and has less overhead than the webservice.
REST is also an option but i think you can only pull 50 items at a time, so you will have to write the code around that. A bit masochistic though.
Its much easier to get the webservices working with silverlight as you can use the sdk libs i think. but i remember there being a problem with authentication and having to re-enter user/pass and stuff like that.
Ill try and answer any specifics if i can. .
    cheers

  • CRM 2011& Office 2013 Excel Export

    Hi Forum,
we are currently using a crm 2011 server (ru17) and have some clients with Windows 8.1 and Office 2013 with outlook addin (RU 17). For these clients we get in to trouble by exporting contacts or accounts as dynamic pivot spreadsheet.
If the download window pop up, you can not directly open the file (instead with office 2010 it is possible). If you chose save (it is a xml file), you have to right click that file and chose excel. After Excel started you can't see the pivot.
We tried to solve the issue with the following hotfix(without any luck): http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2883063/EN-US
Maybe some has another idea how we can solve the problem ?

You can use a custom timer job in SharePoint 2013 to be scheduled to run. This job could interact with your CRM system to import the entities to a folder or List in SharePoint. Andrew has a link here:

  • CRM 2011 openStdWin method

    Hi,
I'm having a problem with a some client code (web resource) that opens a window from the main application ribbon of CRM 2011.
It works in the browser but not in the outlook client and I have an idea as to why but not how to fix it.
Before my code opens the window it checks whether or not it is running from the outlook client - if so the openStdWin method is used:
    var my_win = openStdWin(window_url, window_name);
If not the normal window.open method is used:
    var my_win = window.open(window_url, window_name, window_settings);
In both cases a window opens, but since I have to (after the window opens) call a method inside this new window:
    my_win.methodName();
my_win has to be an actual window object which is it when I use window.open but apparently not when I use openStdWin.
Because of this my code breaks at the point where in attempt to call the method in the newly opened window when running from outlook client.
Can anyone shed some light on this - maybe this method is supposed to be used in another fashion?
PS. when I close down outlook after a failed attempt I get the option to send an error report to Microsoft which contains the following:
Microsoft Dynamics CRM Error Report Contents

    </CrmScriptErrorReport>
The message says "Permission denied" but I think that is a little misleading because the object simply isn't there or rather it is an empty object.
If I do this alert(JSON.stringify(my_win)) when using window.open I get a dialog with a full window object (or as much as the dialog can show) but when I use openStdWin i get "{}" which is an object but an empty one.

    Thanks for your reply Scott,
I am using absolute URL. The 1st part is provided by the build-in getServerUrl (in the Xrm.Page API) and the rest of the URL is a static path to a HTML Web Resource, so there should be no cross-domain stuff going on. (it is CRM 2011 Online by the way).
The HTML Web Resource does include some javascript files but they are all Web Resources in the same solution (referenced by relative path).
Right now I actually have a working solution I made yesterday, but that was by doing a work-around. Roughly what I
was doing in the first place was:
    1) open the window and when window was loaded ask the opening window/code (javascript) to build and execute a query.
    2) upon completion of the query, message back to the opened window (via my_win.someMethod()) that the result was ready to use.
The reason for doing it this way was to ensure that the opening window markup would be fully loaded and look nice (and display a progress indicator etc.) before starting to execute the query, which could make the window appear as not responding or just make
it not load right away, which looks ugly.
Secondly, the result from the query (an array of simple objects) needs to be merged with a larger array which the opened window already holds due to the javascript files it references.
What I am now doing in the work-around is to have the opening window build and execute the query itself, since that eliminates the need to call a method on the window object which is null (or I
do not have access to for what ever reason).
Since this works I cannot see what illegal or cross-domain stuff there should be going on in the original version. The only difference between the 2 versions is that in the 2nd version, once the window is opened, I don't need the window object for anything,
like it did in the 1st version.
I still like the 1st version better, so I'm still interested solving the mystery about the missing window object from openStdWin.

  • IFD setup installation/configuration to an existing CRM 2011 system

    Hi,
I read somewhere a while ago that you can only setup IFD for your CRM when you are installing CRM system. You can't add IDF later on to an existing CRM setup. I wanted to check with you if this is true? I tried finding that piece of information again but
I could not find anything like that online. May be it was a blog or something that I read before CRM 2011 was launched officially. We have multiple server CRM environment. 2 App servers, 2 platform servers, 2 web servers. App servers are running CRM on port
    80 as default website.
So, can we install and configure IFD to an existing CRM 2011 system?
Is there any difference or issues when you install/configure IFD to an existing CRM 2011 system?
    Thank you,
    -Imran

  • Oulook with CRM 2011 client crashes

    Hi,
Looking for some help please for one of my clients.
Using Outlook 2010 and CRM 2011 - when user is using CRM outlook, without any specific action, randomly outlook will just pop up a window.  C:\Program Files (x86)\MicrosoftOffice\Office14\OUTLOOK.exe

    Please Help!

    Daniel,
I meant I gave up on deploying it. Since the plugin was causing freezing and crashing since our office updated from CRM 2011 to 2013 I just ended up manually going from PC to PC.
Just used a batch to run the uninstall silently to speed up the process of manually uninstalling the software from around 60 systems:
    1. Loaded 4 USB sticks with the full ininstall directory
    2. Make a batch file (txt file rename .bat after editing) containing "SetupClient.exe /X /S"
    3. Plug USB stick in and run the .bat
This would also work on a network share but not everyone in this office has access to the same network shares so this was simplest.
I do think this problem may be remedied by PS App deploy toolkit-
    http://staffnet/operations/it/infrastructure/Lists/Helpdesk%20Matrix/AllItems.aspx?InitialTabId=Ribbon%2EListItem&VisibilityContext=WSSTabPersistence
It seems that the install fails due to other applications running or a prerequisite not being met, but will not supply a failure code and as such does not retry later. Very frustrating stuff.

  • Cannot send email from Outlook 2010 without disabling iCloud Outlook Add-in

I have seen a few discussions on this but no answers. I have bought a new PC. Installed Outlook 2010 and iCloud latest version 3. All seems to work fine but emails go into the Outbox and dont get any further. If I remove the iCloud Outlook Add-in then I can send my emails but of course now cannot see my contacts nor my calendar! So it's one or the other and I'm currently going backwards and forwards between each. I have uninstalled and gone back to an earlier version 2 of iCloud with no success, same problem. I have uninstalled that and now reinstalled version 3. The problem remains. Can you advise on how to solve this please?

Then it has nothing to do with iCloud, contact Bell and if they can't help, Microsoft
