CRM 5.0: EP, UME, SLD etc. Down

HI Experts:
This question is a tricky one.  I recently finished updating the SPs to the latest level.  Everything went through fine.  The system also has the latest kernel as well.
Now, when i restarted the system up, everything started up fine.  Everything is green....J2EE process table is also green.  MMC says that the system is running.  However, everything accessed from the SAP GUI works fine.  However, I can't access EP 7.0, SLD, UME etc etc.
I get the following error message:
"You have requested an application that is currently stopped"
That makes me want to think that even though it is saying that the Server is running, not all of the processess are running in it.  Usually it took around 8 minutes to load up, but now its taking around 2 minutes.
Has anyone encountered/resolved this in the past?
This all started to happen after i updated one of the JAVA patches....so, i feel as though, that must have done something.
I have already reloaded the server and the instances....however, everything is still the same.
Can anyone help me out with this.

Hi Imran,
Some times not All the J2EE Services will be up. If you restarted the Server. So, You need to go Services and right click on "J2EE Service" and then restart all services. It will solve your problem.

  • XI  if SLD is down

    Hello,
what happens to XI processes when SLD is down ? SLD being in cache, I think XI should continue to work, isn't it ? If yes, what happens when there is a cache refresh ?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Elliot,
As design and configuration depends on SLD.
So when SLD is down then XI may work untill cache get refreshed.
once SLD chache get refreshed then we will find error in XI.
chache refresh are mainly of two type
    automatically and manually
there are setting to refresh SLD chache after some time.
in dirty chache refresh one can work with XI while cotinuously.
So XI can work till SLD chache get refreshed.
    Please reward points if beneficial.
    please revert if further query

  • If my SLD is down will webdynpro apps fail.

I see that the SLD manages the JCO connections to R/3.  Does the engine maintain that data locally as well or if the SLD is down then the webdynpro app utilizing the JCO connection is down as well.

Unfortunately the answer is no the information is not cached and yes it will fail if the SLD is not running.

  • PI problems if SLD Shut down ?

    Hi,
I'm currious, ou PI is setup to use its local SLD. This local SLD receives updates through full synchronisation from a central SLD.
Now , if we shut down, the central SLD.  Will everything still work in PI ? Exp : transports... etc.
Obviously , I can't transport new software components and products but what about bug fixes to existing software components ?
    Thank you.
Edited by: Thierry Dagnino on Nov 4, 2009 5:16 PM

Export/ import (synchronization) done from the Central SLD into the local SLD done before shutdown should help local SLD to work properly in case the central instance goes down. Have not tried practically....above statement is based on my reading....if you feel its wrong then feel free to correct it.

  • How to Launch CRM Web-UI when IE is crashed down

    Dear experts,
My IE is crashed down because of some historical reason. However, when I use "crm_ui" or "wui" transaction codes to try to launch CRM Web-UI, the error message always pops up like this:
" Thes sytem is trying to execute the program C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe"
And since my IE is crashed and the iexplore.exe can not get executed any more, I can not log-on Web-UI via GUI directly.
For some reason that I really can not fix this issue by fixing IE, so could some expert urgently help me and teach me how to configure or modify the defaulted route of web-UI lauching path so that I can change it to firefox.exe or chrome.exe?
Thanks so much for your kindly help in advance if any.
    Best regards,
    Vivian

    Hi Vivian,
today I had a look in the system. With my above assumption I seem to be wrong. SAP does not use the system default browser. It checks the registry for a config string and otherwise always uses InternetExplorer. Though I do not know how this registry string is filled (maybe by setting a default browser ;-) )
See the screenshot below for the logic that is invoked by transaction WUI. WUI is the more common way of CRM_UI ;-)
Now it is up to you again:
    Fix your windows installation.
Change the registry string to use Firefox or Chrome.
Do as Christian pointed out and call WebClient by URL.
For the last option keep in mind: Calling other browser dependent transactions will crash as well. Just check SOAMANAGER. Testing WebClient components using the component workbench will not work either.

  • BBC/ITV HD etc. down the Phone Line vs Over the ai...

    Hi,
I've just had BT Infinity and prior to this I had and still have a Black BT Vision box and hadn't really realized I would get so many channels including HD channels down the phone line.
I'm curious though, how does the HD picture quality down the phone line compare to when compared to receiving through an aerial or satellite dish?
Which is best and which is worse?
Also, I upgraded to BT Infinity as Skype video calls would always drop out on my laptop after a bit when on BT Broadband using the HomeHub2. Sometimes I had to restart my computer as the dropout would also knock out the internet too and restarting it seemed to be the only way to bring it back. I experienced the same problems both with a wired connection and a wireless connection to my laptop.
Unusually if I try making a Skype video call using Wi-Fi using my mobile phone, the video call never dropped out.
Despite upgrading to BT Infinity and using the HH5, I'm still experiencing dropouts with Skype or receiving poor video and/or audio with it.
Could this therefore be a problem with my laptop or some settings or something?
If it could be laptop settings, could anyone advise me what settings I can change and how I can improve things?
    Kind Regards and Thanks.

There are a few factors that determine picture quality. Resolution, aspect ratio and compression being three main ones.
Freeview SD channels have never all been equal. They all tend to transmit 576 vertical lines, but horizontal resolution can vary to save bandwidth, 720, 704 or 544. Some also use higher rates of data compression to save bandwidth which usually results in a more blurred or blocky picture at times. 4:3 aspect ratio pictures can actually be better defined than 16:9 ones as the latter still use the same transmission resolutions but are stretched out by the TV or box. Some sneaky channels at times use a 16:9 or 14:9 window in the centre of 4:3 picture as black bars compress very nicely and save more bandwidth. The box or TV then sometimes zooms in as appropriate. The resulting picture is usually pretty rubbish.
Freeview HD channels normally represent 16:9 pictures and initially were transmitted at 1440x1080 (4:3) and stretched out. However, I believe they are now transmitted at 1920x1080 which is proper 16:9 (maybe someone could confirm this)? They use more efficient data compression techniques and transmit at a high enough bandwidth to look pretty great.
BT TV multicast SD channels look to me as though they are transmitted at 720x576. Not sure if they still sometimes represent a 4:3 picture when appropriate, but most modern TV content is now 16:9. The compression rate seems low and as the previous post says, compared to Freeview SD they look as good as (if not better than) the best quality Freeview SD channels such as BBC 1. I used to get Sky Sports and ESPN in SD via the TV aerial and the multicast SD versions definitely look much better.
Note: When I view the test channel 475 on my PC using VLC Player it says that channel is at 544x576. I'm guessing this low resolution only applies to the test channel though I have no way of checking on the BT Vision+ box?
BT TV multicast HD channels look very good. Again I have no way of checking the resolution, but I'm guessing they are at 1920x1080 with an aspect ratio always set to represent 16:9 pictures. The compression rate seems as low as the Freeview HD equivalents. I can't really see any difference between the Freeview HD and multicast HD channels on my Full-HD TV. All very high quality.
In simple non-tech speak. SD pictures are better than Freeview, and HD pictures are just as excellent.

  • J2EE Logon Servlet Prompting For Username Email

I have a situation in my landscape that recently, after patching the system to NW700 SPS23, some users would enter their logon and password correctly and then get confronted with an additional security screen requesting their firstname, lastname, email address and a message for the administrator (as if they were trying to perform self registration).  They would kindly enter the requested information and it would pop up again and again, preventing use of the system.  This doesn't happen to everyone though and appears to be in some way related to the URL the user was using.
I set logging to debug and could not find any trace of an error in the java logs when this occured.  Ultimately, I provded a cleaner URL string (http://<server>:<port>/useradmin for example), had the user clear their browser cache, restart IE, and then it went away for them, even when using the old dirty URL.   I am 100% positive it was not password related as I could log in fine on my machine, but not on another with my own and other admin accounts.
My question is: is anyone aware of any new security features implemented in NW700 SPS22 or 23 that could be causing this problem on some front-ends?  Our users use Windows 7 and IE 8.    It also occured on a calling java application server running IBM Websphere and an older OS and browser.  This is what has me so suspicious about the patches themeselves.
The SAP app that is running on the NW700 machine is XMII 12.0.21.  Though the symptom also occurs with calls to NWA, UME, SLD, etc.  I also run a 701 webdispatcher on the machine which does some url translations, but again, it works fine on most front-ends.

    Phillip

  • SLD down but cache refresh

    Hi,
If the SLD is down (unavailable) and we make a cache refresh. What happen ? Should the refresh fail or everything will be erased ?
    Thx.

    hi
    As far as i know....
if the sld is down ur cache refresh will fail....
actually whenever we refresh cache ..it will access the SLD ( to get the details of entegration engine ,adapter engine etc.....)....So if no connection is there then cache refresh will not work......

  • SLD in a central insance

Hello experts, my question is about where to direct the SLD when you are configuring the Solman, right now we are doing the initial configuration (in a DEV instance), and we are ponting the SLD to the Netwaver Portal (DEV) but for some problems we got to reintall the Portal so I would like to know what is better for an organization? pointing the SLD to the Portal (DEV)?, Portal (PRD)? or to the Solman itself?.
(Some time ago a SAP consultant told us to point the SLD to the Portal)
    Thanks for your answer,
    Paul Hurtado

    Hello there
What Mateus says is correct where you point and locate your SLD depends on the landscape
and how the SLD will be used
The SLD that is used by Solution Manager or is on the Solution Manager J2EE is traditionally the central SLD
    - containing all systems from all sources (data suppliers, other SLDs etc)
You should be careful doubling up SLD useage - i.e have more than one client like Solution Manager and XI using
the same SLD - some applications like XI require the SLD for runtime (at least this is generally the thinking although
it could also be that clients have specific requirements that may conflict with each other) and thefore need a local
dedicated SLD. To give you an example -->
Solution Manager J2EE might be allowed to be brought down or restarted whenever required - there is maybe only a small user group notified or affected if however you using Solution Manager J2EE SLD for XI purpose - the consequences of this flexible downtime policy for XI could be severe
    Best wishes

  • Session Expired after logging on to Visual Administrator - SLD Config

    Hey Guys,
I have a NW2004s installation, both ABAP and Java stack, with UME pointing to the ABAP stack.
I created a user in ABAP stack, and assigned the J2EE_ADMIN role to this user.
I try to log into the Visual Administrator with this user. The login is successful.
However right after I navigate to the sld data supplier node and click it, I get the error message, Session Expired.
I think it is because I am not authorized to configure SLD or something like that.
When I created the user in the ABAP stack I entered all the roles for the user with which I am logging on to the Visual Admin:
         SAP_SLD_ADMINISTRATOR
         SAP_SLD_CONFIGURATOR
Anyhelp so that I can get over this problem and configure the SLD in the system.
    Thank You.
    Sumit.

J2EE_ADMIN role has all the rights(configure SLD etc) , make sure you configure the SLD and import the CIM model content you can login to SLD at http://<host>:5XX00/SLD and then access the data supplier bridge
where XX is your instance number

  • SLD - Data Suppliers

I have recently updated our solution Manager system to SPS22 with java.
Since then the Data Suppliers in the SLD are DOWN.
Administration > Details > Data suppliers
    RFC server threads:
    [DOWN] NUC:<server>_<port>_SLD_NUC_1448281814
    [DOWN] UC ::<server>_<port>__SLD_UC_1102336995
    [DOWN] NUC::<server>_<port>__SLD_NUC_2003281767
    [DOWN] UC ::<server>_<port>__SLD_UC_1129708313
Can anybody tell me if there is a problem with the latest version of Java or tell me how to get the data suppliers back up?
Also the Landscape Fetch job now fails with The SLD server connection is inactive. Is this a consiquence of the data suppliers?
    Hope you can help.
    Russell Burrow

    Hello,
Hope the SLD server is in Running status!
In ABAP stack, is the t-code SLDCHECK for the corresponding system working fine, all GREEN? If not working, check the RFC connection issues. The Landscape Fetch job would be failing due to the same reason.
In Java stack, in VA, check the SLD Datasupplier is working or not. Also check the CIM connectivity to SLD server. if not working, check what is the error.
    Hope this helps.

    Bhaskar

  • What data type do I use in MSA to handle CRM DEC data?

    Dear Geeks,
We have a customer field 'ZZ_SUPPORT' on CRM (40 SP11) opportunities, which we flow
down to mobile sales. It previously carried a NUMC2 value (a number
from 1 - 99), and this worked fine... the data flowed fine in both
directions. The data element ZZ_SUPPORT used in CRM is based on a newly
created data domain called Z1_TO_99 and this was defined as data type NUMC
(2 characters), which we have changed to DEC (4 characters, and decimal
places 2, and screen display5). Having made this change and also
changed the screen layout in SE51, the field now looks good and takes
a value like '12.34' without error. We can also see the '12.34' value
being carried in the Opp_Write Bdoc in SMW01 classic segment. However, the BDoc does not migrate
successfully to Mobile - the ZZ_Support value is lost. In Mobile, I
have genereted the Tables associated with Opportunity_write, and also
the BDoc, and I have also changed the BOOPPORTUNITY / Y_Support field
(which carries the value) from NUMC2 to String5. I have also tried Long5, and currency4
because there is no data type "DEC" available in Mobile. When I send
opportunity messages up from Mobile to CRM, I see them going into SMQ2
and then they dissappear because the Function module cannot handle the
BDoc. What is the problem? Is it the function module? or the data type
used on Mobile - if so what should I use in the absense of "DEC"?
    Richard

Sounds like a strange issue indeed. I would call Johnny Nobles.
    Tx: Smoggen ?
Sorry, can't come up with better ideas.
    Cheers,
    Seb.
