CRM Career Option ?

Hi,
I m a SAP SD Certified guy with one year exp. on SAP SD Support and Five years experience as a Sales and Marketing Executive.
But it seems that the in the current market there is very optimal need of SD Consultants , companies are asking for more cross functional or for SD consultant who has knowledge of Business One or CRM.
I wanted to ask with my experience of 1 year support, should I go for CRM now or shall I gain a little more experience before moving towards CRM  or Business One?

Hi BB,
You have a very good domain/functional experience and also a certified consultant apart from having one year realtime experience. These are all positive aspects for a functional consultant.
Though the CRM market is expected to see a boom since long time, it is not happening and my suggestion is, it is better to learn few important topics in BW and finally go for 'APO'. This is purely my opinion and lets see the opinion of the gurus and this will help many SD consultants who are looking for a change.
Wish you all the best.
Thanks,
Ravi

  • APO or CRM Career Options ?

It is an interesting question you have asked. With just one year of SD support, I am not sure if you are familiar with the internals of SD. (This may sound like a rude remark). It easily takes 3-4 years to criss-cross SD. Some of my friends took one full year to become an ace in Pricing of SD.
On the choice between APO and CRM, the latter is anyday a better choice. Check the traffic in the latter forum and compare it with the former. It is a decent proxy of the market. There are companies in this world who will be focusing their energy on Marketing/front-end side of things rather than the backend of their organization like supply chain. Many organizations have honestly not been able reap tangible measurable benefits out of supply chain products.
Check also the annual report and other investment relationship materials in SAP site(http://www.sap.com/about/investor/reports/annualreport/2006/pdf/2006_SAP_Annual_Report.pdf). I am eagerly awaiting the one for 2007. The report does give feelers on the size of this new dimension market and the kind of development commitment it puts into each of these areas.

  • Which one to chose between Netwevae XI and Portal as a career option.

    Hi,
I have just taken up the training in NS XI and in a dilema to chose between XI & Portal as a career option.
I have sufficient amount of experience in ABAP and wish to proceed further in any of the two.
Can any one please advice which one would be better in terms of the long career goal especially considering the Intl Market.
    Regards,
    Deepak.

    Hi Deepak,
It is better if u go for XI since you have ABAP knowledge. Go throught the following things.
    Hi,
SAP Exchange Infrastructure (SAP XI) enables you to implement cross-system processes. It enables you to connect systems from different vendors (non-SAP and SAP) in different versions and implemented in different programming languages (Java, ABAP, and so on) to each other. SAP Exchange Infrastructure is based on an open architecture, uses open standards (in particular those from the XML and Java environments) and offers those services that are essential in a heterogeneous and complex system landscape

SAP NetWeaver is SAP's integrated technology platform and is the technical foundation for all SAP applications since the SAP Business Suite. SAP NetWeaver is marketed as a service-oriented application and integration platform. SAP NetWeaver provides the development and runtime environment for SAP applications and can be used for custom development and integration with other applications and systems. SAP NetWeaver is built using open standards and industry de facto standards and can be extended with, and interoperate with, technologies such as Microsoft .NET, Sun Java EE, and IBM WebSphere.
The core products that make up SAP NetWeaver include:
    SAP NetWeaver Application Server
    SAP NetWeaver Process Integration (PI)
    SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Portal (EP)
SAP NetWeaver Master Data Management (MDM)
    SAP NetWeaver Mobile
    SAP NetWeaver Business Intelligence
SPRO stands for SAP Project Reference Object. It is used to configure the setting as per your client requirement by using the standard setting present in the system. This where you can do all the SAP configuration work.

    Hi Binayak,
I would rather advice you to see where SAP is heading in the processs of evolving roles, Instead of being a Functional consultant you need to be a Business Process Expert, now that all the configurations and IMG stuff will be done by Process Modellers, its right time for a Functional guy to get well versed in the technical know-how of a process as the future demands this Role BPx and do the customer implementations in E-SOA.
Hope this helps, Please assign points.

  • CRM Career and Certification

    Hi there,
I have over 10 years work experince with a Masters and an Exec MBA. I've worked on a CRM tool called Vantive for six years (Service module for a large telecom company in the US).
I'm a little stuck in my present job and hope to foray into SAP CRM for the exceptional oppurtunities available. To fast track my career, I was planning to take the training at Seimens next month and get certified in Fundamentals and a couple of applications.
I'd greatly appreciate if anyone could guide on the best approach to clear this certification exam and break into SAP CRM. I know certification will not substitute for real time experience but I was hoping it could jump start my career.
If anyone has any guidance, sample questions for the certification exam, please email them to [email protected]
    Many Thanks in Advance,

  • Career option whether Abap or Basis

    Hi ,
I am working in a renowned Organization, nad i was trained in Basis 6 months back.
I worked on a project in Sap _ basis and Security in 3 months and its been a complete year that i am learning Basis,Now i am getting a Project in which My skill would be ABAP.
Seeking suggestions my Tl says that Abap would be agreat future.
Coming to my interest i can work in both and it will take me a months time to get into Abap.
But thinking from the career prospective Abap will ruin my entire 1 year contributed to Basis.
Please suggest from Career Prospective what should i go for?
Should i raise a Concern that my entire one year knowlwdge of Basis would not stand anywhere if i switch to Abap.
    Please suggest asap.

    Hi,
You have worked on system admin side (Worked on Basis), and t the same you trained on "Security" also. i would like to suggest continue in this and touch the "breadth" of this model. If you are interested, concentrate on mostly "security",
net weavers and portals integrations like that.
Coming to "ABAP" which is is complete programming language, where you can tight your hands with only "Programs" (Perhaps, With different logic's). But i can say strongly, its very powerful language.
    All the best.

  • Help me shaping my Career!!

    Hi Gurus,
I am working with an infrastructure firm since last one year as a SAP MM Consultant. This is the total experience I have in SAP. I wanted to know what would be the best possible career option for me :-
    a) If I continue as SAP MM Consultant with my current firm and side by side I apply to other companies as well.
    b) I go for ABAP course
    c) I go for M.S. Program in SAP from Victoria University, Australia.
    d) I go to Canada, Ragina region for PGDM course in SAP.
    Please help guys!!
    Thanks!

You are probably at the best place where you should be. Most difficult part of SAP career is breaking into an SAP CAREER. Almost all of the SAP jobs are for experienced professionals and it is very tough for the beginners to enter, even after doing SAP Certification which costs a lot. Luckily you are already into it. Stick with it. Gain 2-3 years of overall experience in the present company if you have good learning opportunity there. Else try to do a part-time course into MM module only and make sense out of the things at your present job. Once you understand Materials Management processes, your doubts will automatically go away and you will be confident in applying for jobs. If you want more credentials to add to your profile, SAP Certification can a good choice. The discussion on the topic of SAP Certification can be very lengthy. • Visual studio reports for crm (fetch xml) - trying to hide textbox based on value returned

I have a report running from a custom entity in Dynamics CRM online using fetch XML and all is well apart from trying to hide a text box which shows an expression.
The expression refers to a boolian value from CRM (two options - Approved and Unapproved), what 'I want is the textbox to show the contents if the value = Unapproved but hide it if = Approved.
I have gone into the text box properties and selected visibility - show/hide based on an expression.
    Here's what I have which isn't working.
    =IIf(Fields!dsm_dispatchapproval.Value like"Approved")

    Hi duddit2,
Based on your description, you want to use an expression to control the visibility of a textbox. Show the textbox when the value of dsm_dispatchapproval field is “Unapproved”, hide it when the value of dsm_dispatchapproval field is “Approved”.
To achieve this goal, please refer to the following expressions:
    =Fields!dsm_dispatchapproval.Value like "Approved"
    OR
    =IIF(Fields!dsm_dispatchapproval.Value ="Approved",true,false)

  • CRM ORg Modle Replication

    Dear Friends,
Can any1 give me clarrification please??
Do we have to make some settings to be able to replicate Org model?? I see some customising steps bleow but i don get why and when they have to be used....
Enhanced Back end Integration version of CRM Model
    standard back end integration version....
and also Convert org Model to represent R/3 multiple assignment
    copying r/3 sales structure
Can any1 please explain me??? thank you so much !
    Best regards,
    Lata.
    [email protected]

    Hi!
1º) The first think is to decide if you need the multiple assignment in your CRM system, in the sense of that the same organization can be assigned to different organization units. You run this customizing (Convert Org. Model to Represent R/3 Multiple Assignments) if you are using an R/3 backend system where multiple assignments are already maintained in your R/3 sales structure.
Otherwise, the system by default has the standard backend integration version, where multiple assignments cannot be displayed.
2º) Copy the R/3 structure into your CRM with option "Copy R/3 Sales Structure"
3º) a third important step is to ensure that  the buffering for your scenarios (SALES/SERVICE) are  switched ON in table T77OMATTR.
4º) Finally, report HRBCI_ATTRIBUTES_BUFFER_UPDATE has to be executed on a
regular basis, mainly after the first R/3 structure and every time you make a change in  the R/3 structure---->  see documentation of this report
I hope this information can be useful for you!

  • How many standard business roles are there in CRM

    Hi Experts,
I had a question in one of my exam.. please answer it
question:- How many standard business roles are there in CRM?
    options were:- 2,3,4,5
I think the options does not have the right answer , upto my knowledge it is more than 5. please help me with the appropriate answer
    Thanks
    Rahul Mathur

    Hi,
There are approximately 40 standard business roles available in the latest version ehp3.
As the version changes the business roles increases. Initially  there are only 3 std business roles..
1.sales pro 2. marketing pro 3. service pro and along with IC Agent.
Each BR above is loaded with huge no of transactions even though our aim is to for ex: create sales order...we use sales pro but all the sales related operations(transactions) are being loaded in to the system so along with the version improvements/releases SAP have divided each of these std BR as much as they can and thus the no of operations or transactions per BR is decreasing with each release....
    Thanks & Regards,
    Malleswar.
