Why can't I use iBooks Text Books across devices?

iBooks 2 is incredible with its introduction of Text Books, as is the ability for anyone with a Mac to start developing texts via iBooks Author. This has revolutionary potential written all over it.
BUT, just one thing Apple:
Why in the last year have you pushed so hard to integrate/sync devices via the Cloud, only to introduce a phenomenal tool like the Text Books which can only be used on one device, the iPad, and almost blatantly makes no intention to talk to other devices?
I have invested in the whole Apple product line. I am invested in the ecosystem entirely. Why can I not start reading/note taking from my Biology Text in class on my iPad, continue skimming it from where I left off on my iPhone while going home on the train, and finally pull up the Text Book in iBooks on my Macbook (complete with my notes from the day) where I ultimately want to cut and paste my noted text to be used as quotes in a term paper I am composing in Pages (and what if Pages even talked to iBooks and auto formatted a Bibliography based on the text I have dragged and dropped)? As a student this scenario is not only very forseeable, but neccessary if I am to go over to a digital book format.
Why is this not possible? Should I honestly believe it is the result of poor planning, or rather a strategy to boost iPad sales by making Text Books explicit to the iPad?
After all, in a parallel analogy to the above, Apple ecosystem users can currently: start a film on their iPad, pick up where they left off on their iPhone, and then ultimately finish the film on their Mac or Apple TV. I can even start a normal book on my iPad and leave a bookmark, which I can later pick up on my iPhone. This is awesome and exemplifies the consideration and rigorous thought that I have grown to expect Apple to put in to their products. The devices talk to each other and "it just works." But is apple really allowing all of this, except when it comes to TEXTBOOKS, which is an educational tool?
If the digital Text Books are really going to do so much to revolutionize education, then shouldn't Text Books be available across ALL devices and to all people who ALREADY own iOS/OSX devices in order to reach its maximum potential for influencing a change in education? If these tools are really so revolutionary and represent a paradigm shift, then they will speak for themselves and schools will naturally get on board and dole out the money for the class sets of iPads.
Please Apple, I switched over for a reason. Mostly due to your philosophies and ability to make things that "just work". Don't sell out here. Not allowing Text Books to be accessed across devices does not have the markings of a "paradigm shift in the dark ages of education", but instead reeks of a slick marketing scam by the most successful company in the world to pump tax money out of education budgets into the overflowing pockets of Apple. Shame on you. That is not giving to education, that is taking.
Make good and develop TextBooks to work across ALL iOS/OSX devices, please.

My understanding is that you can use the Cloud on any device you want but only one at a time. Just as you can install the Creative Collections on as many computers as you wish but it can only be activated on two at a time but which is not really true since you can only use one of them at a time anyway.
I think the wording about this should change.
For insance I travel and may or may not wish to lug a laptop with me. It is my understanding that I can when raveling log into the CC download m apps and use them on any computer capable of running the apps and work away, But since I am logged in at a different location on a different device it will only work on that device.
And this is the way it shoulkd work because say you travel and your laptop is lost or stolen then you should be able to still use your apps and also stop them from working on the lost computer by logging in somewhere else.
This is the way Iunderstand the advantages of the Cloud. It is designed to be flexible and not inhibiting.
Now on the other had if I ahsd an assistant that I want to use these apps then it makes sense to purchase a license for them as well.
It is one license for one user as it should be but that user can access it where ever they need it.
That is my understanding.

What is the Text Book correct way to do a spot uv merging multiple applications and exporting from 1

I am unsuccesssfully finishing a project using Spot UV and about to start another. I want to start this one out the Text Book correct way. Here are the details.
I have logo's coming from Illustrator that I want to have a spot UV on
I have photos coming from photoshop that I want a spot UV on
I have a design element in In Design that I want a spot UV on
What is the Correct way to get everything into In Design have it output to a PDF that a printer could use and a second one that I could use for the Web that does not show the spot uv
A note is that the last project I followed all the tutorials on the web that say to use channels in photoshop to make my spot UV that in the end I think is causing me a lot of headaces right now.

Put the spot UV on its own layer in InDesign. Turn it off for the web version of the PDF.

Need adobe flash to access my text books

This is a huge problem. Just purchased the ipad for My son. He needs to be able to access his text books online through the various sites the teachers use. Requires Adobe Flash. Please tell me an app is coming quickly for this.

why can't Canadians get text books on ibooks, apple makes me so mad some times

Might be that Canadian publishers aren't on board with apple in this one. Or they might just be under development. At any rate, you won't find any answers from apple in here, we're all users.

IBook- College text books available?

While viewing the iPad @ Gainesville, FL (UF-country) Best Buy (no Apple store — wonder why with so many possible customers) and an individual stated that he would like for Apple to come out with an offer from some of these text book companies to sell their books at a reduced price on the iPad. I think this is a great idea, as: it helps eliminate tree destruction; cuts down on environmental waste (paper and ink) and it would help reduce some of the cost for getting a college education. It seems today as if only the well to do or those who can get grants can afford to go to college. Not that college is going to guarantee a great job, BUT it will help bring develop some possible "Einstein's", who may not be able to pay for all those books.

I think you can be certain that Apple is heavily evangelizing the textbook publishers. But the publishers have not been quick to get on board with electronic publishing; even Amazon who has been at this for a couple of years has had relatively few get on board with Kindle. So it's going to take a while for them to see that it will be worth the investment in creating the electronic versions (something that with the current limitations of the ePub format is not easy to do)
As to reduced prices, I saw an item from one of the publishers that claimed that the cost of physically providing the book (printing, shipping, etc). was just a small portion of the cost of publishing a book. Whether that was true or being disingenuous I can't say, but it seems to be the stance of the publishers. So it's not likely that prices on e-books will be significantly lower than physical books on any sort of significant basis anytime in the near future.

Recommendation for Action Script Text book?

I am looking for a good reference to a text book on Action Script, both 2 and 3.
(hard copy text, it is easier than having stacks of windows opened and sort through to find what I need)
Some of the questions that a good text would answer are:
1: How do I know what base classes to import into any given .as file to cover the functionality?
2: How linkage works and what I can apply it to.
for instance if I want to add an event listener, can I do stage.addEventListener(....etc)
when the class is linked to a movieClip. If I use this.addEventListener, it attaches the
event listener to the object to which the class is linked, right?
3: The feature sets that each version of Flash Player supports, as well as browser
   Flash plugins.
4: How to handle permission problems when attempting to send data via post to a server
   (if have been following an example and get errors regarding permissions when attempting
    to have action script send data about the Flash plugin the client is using).
5: How javascript in a pdf file differs from browser javascript where embedded Flash content
(in the pdf file) is concerned.
6: How to troubleshoot AS2 and AS3 linkage problems.
   (I have followed an exercise example in text I use, mentioned below, and have had the
result fail without errors. But I suspect there may be a difference between CS3 and CS4
that would account for this).
Initially, I have been generating at least 4 different versions of swf files for each version
of Flash Player back to v7. Javascript and server side code is used to determine which
version to load for the client requesting it.
Currently I am using the Adobe pdf manual and Lynda.com: 'ActionScript 3.0 for Adobe
Flash CS3 Professional Hands On Training', although I am using Flash CS4 Professional.
It is a starter text but not extensive into theory and practice.
I have done tons of Javascript and PHP programming (PHP on the server side).
It is better for me to have as much information and guidance in a text book than posting
to a forum for every problem I encounter.
