Crop dimensions keep changing

I've installed the trial version of Photoshop Elements 13 but there is one detail I do not like at all.
It's the crop tool settings, in Elements 12 you could set the dimensions under custom setting and they would never change until you typed in new dimensions.
For example I use 12.7cm x 8.89cm with 300dpi, I use these as 99% of the photos I currently edit are for media publication and that is the preferred dimensions. When I close Elements 12 and then re-open it either 30 minutes later or a few days later those settings are still there ready for the next batch of photos to edit.
Now move onto Elements 13 and it all changes, I have had to keep manually typing in the dimensions from one photo to the next as 13 constantly (and annoyingly) keeps reverting back to 'Use Photo Ratio'. I have read different pieces of advice online and some say to run as administrator and that once the dimensions have been changed they stay like that the next time Elements is opened.
Yes the settings are there once re-opened BUT once the first photo has been cropped then it once again reverts back to 'Use Photo Ratio'. As this an important feature for me then it looks like I will have to stick with Elements 12, and save my money, unless of course Adobe decide to put an update out to correct this.
If anyone from Adobe would be willing to comment on this I would be happy to hear what they have to say.

You can turn off automatic crop suggestions. See image below. Go to: Edit >> Preferences >> General (on Mac Photoshop Elements Editor >> Preferences >> General) then uncheck the option shown highlighted in red and click OK
The crop tool will work as in previous versions of PSE but you can still hover over the thumbnail suggestions in the tool options at the bottom

You can Reset the Crop Tool by right clicking its' icon in the options bar and choosing Reset Tool from the menu.

Why does my user icon keep changing?

Hi all,
It's not the end of the world but annoying just the same - I set my user icon to one of the standard Lion icons when I first set up my new MacBook Air and later changed it via System Preferences to a different photo that I've stored on my hard drive. Or at least, I thought I changed it.
Lion keeps changing the user icon back to the default one that I set when I first set up my MB Air.
Has anyone else run into this issue? And does anyone know of a solution for this?
I can obviously live with this if I have to, but it sure it annoying!

I messed about with this for an hour today - trying all the ways that were suggested in these and other forums to no avail. it kept switching back to my original photo or nothing at all the moment I saved. FINALLY - I figured it out. I duplicated and cropped a picture within iPhoto and named it with my own face. Then I DRAGGED it instead of CHOOSING it to the contact card - and voila! Finally it stuck!
Such a trivial little thing but I was so tired of the "trial" photo I had posted when I first bought my computer. Good luck!

Transform keeps changing in paintComponent

I have JComponent - in my paintComponent code I want to calculate the bounds of some of the objects I'm painting so I do the following

    Math.abs(p3.y - m_imageLocation.y));which gives me the location and size (in device space) of the image I've just drawn so I can later do hit detection on it. The problem is, the location is often, but not always wrong. To investigate what was going on I put the following at the beginning of my paintComponent method

currentTransform.transform(p1, m_imageLocation);simply transforms the point p1 according to the currentTransform and stores the value in m_imageLocation. This shouldn't affect the transform itself.

Status keeps changing from invisible to online: why the issue is ignored?

There is a serious issue raised in the parallel thread, which is critical for many people: "Status keeps changing from invisible to online" (initiated on ‎16-11-2014 by b.agne, Mac section). In short, when starting using a device, the Skype status changing from "invisible" to "online" - sometimes just for a moment, though enough for others to notice you. These affects very much any type of devices. I am sure the issue has already led to multiple personal crisises and potentially financial losses due to buseness partnership issues (I came close to that myself, and now use anything but Skype for business). The question is: WHY the issue is completely ignored by Skype, Microsoft and expert comunity? Hi, I also have the same issue. I change the status to Invisible and a later on it is already as "Online", without having even touched/opened Skype. The only way that I see this may happen is that I have the app installed on the smartphone, but before it never had this issue, but from some month ago it started. Any correction or suggestion to work around this issue? Regards

I would restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod on your computer and start over. It appears the iPod is associated with another account. Any media that came with the iPod does not belong to you and di not transfer with the iPod hardware.

My display keeps changing to 800x600 after upgrade to 10.8.3

After upgrading to 10.8.3 my display keeps changing to 800x600 after it wakes up from sleep. I have to go to preferences and set again, and it works. It is quite annoying. Any clue.

Have you tried resetting the > NVRAM and PRAM
1. Shut down the computer.
2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.

No, an external drive will not always be mounted. If the drive goes to sleep, it can unmount, or it may unmount for other reasons. As Chris said, confim that the drive is mounted and active before launching iTunes.

Calendar colors keeping changing to purple

one specific calendar keeps changing by itself to purple. even when i change it back to the color i want, it goes directly back to purple. this happens on my ipad and when accessing icloud on my mac book

It seems that my green work calendar is now purple as well.
In the past work was a light green and personal was a slightly different shade of green. Now it is purple, not my favorite color but it is distinct. It would be nice to pick you own colors
I am an ical user, rarely do I sign in using icloud via the net however this is how all my devices are linked
This happened a while back and then reverted, if Apple would just have some notices of this at least we would know there is nothing wrong. I am getting concerned that my data is not safe !

I called Apple and they said that they know about this problem. It's a problem with iCloud which their Engineers know about. (there was a new iCloud release, hence...) No ETA for a fix yet. I asked that this be escalated so Engineering doesn't put it at the bottom of their fix list. I talked to a Senior Advisor and mentioned to them to have QA check their regression tests as this has happened before to me (the problem just didn't take this long to resolve). I like to use green too for important stuff, so I've resorted to creating a new calendar using the normal calendar green for events going forward. They could have picked another color besides green to have this problem with and I wouldn't have been so upset. ;-)

Why does the color on my calendar keeps changing colors on its own

I have several color coded calendars for each family members. My daugther's calendar all of a sudden changed from green to blue (which is my son's) by itself. I changed it back to green and it automatically changed back to blue again. This happened once before a while back and after I keep changing back the color, it corrected itself eventually.

Safari 5.1.2 keeps changing text field randomly on text input

Hello everybody.
Safari keeps changing the text field on input, do you know how to correct this issue?
Here is an example:
Let's say I load www.google.com, it appears in the safari window as usual.
Suppose I begin to type a search in the google search field at the top right of the safari window (not the one on the google page)
if when doing this the sentence is long for the search, at some point randomly, the rest of the text will be entered this time in the google search text field on the google page! (which is the very next text field) So when I hit enter it makes google search half of my request...
Safari changed the text field I was into with no warning. I want to say I do not press tab at any moment.
This is annoying really, and this does not appear anywhere else than in Safari. It seems the issue is not systematic, but appears quite often.
I have no universal access setting except "enable access for assistive device"
I had to check this box upon installing a software in the past but I can't remember what it was.
Perhaps the problem I have is linked to some window refreshing?

Try deleting the cache associated with Safari ...
Quit Safari.
Go to ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db.
Move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Relaunch Safari to test.
I had to check this box upon installing a software in the past but I can't remember what it was.
Open System Preferences > Universal Access
Make sure the box next to: Enable access for aassitive devices is deselected.

Is there any way to turn off the auto formatting in Pages? I just want to type a letter and add pictures and titles, and Pages keeps changing font sizes and doesn't let me "Do it my way". I HATE this!

Is there any way to turn off the auto formatting in Pages? I'm using a blank document, so I figured I could write my letter and add pictures any way I wanted to. But NO! Pages keeps changing the font size! I typed a large heading as a title, and when I try to change to a smaller font for the body of the letter, it changes the size back to the larger size! I am getting SO FRUSTRATED! I've spent over an hour trying to get the stupid program to let me just type my letter! Can anyone help?

The only one left is the "unsubmitted text" dialogue, which would not be a problem if I were not a Facebook user; after updating the "Richard is..." field (which does not require a manual submit to actually send) I get the above message. This is obviously Safari just not realising that the info has been sent and is therefore (I imagine) one for Apple themselves to answer!!

Not being a Facebook User, I'm not sure how to respond to the error situation. However, this would be something to report to Apple as a bug via the Safari Menu. First, open to the page in question, then select "Report Bugs to Apple".
