Crop dissapears on elements 6 for mac

Hello everyone, newbie here with a crop problem. When trying to crop a dotted selected area
the whole photo window turns white with no cropped photo remaining.
All other operations seem to work ok. I have searched the forum but not found anything to go
on.Am I doing something wrong? I have tried all the different crop action buttons, ie. the green tick,
image button and crop, right click and crop. All with the same result - a white picture area.
Can anyone help please?

When the crop tool misbehaves, the first thing to do is to reset it: there's a tiny, almost invisible triangle at the far left of the options bar. Click it and choose Reset Tool. If that fails, quit elements, then relaunch it while holding down command+shift+option. Keep holding the keys till you see a window asking if you want to delete the settings file. You do.

  • Enlarging in Elements 8 for Mac

    Greetings,
Does Photoshop Elements 8 for Mac use Bicubic Interpolation for enlarging cropped images. I have a razor sharp image from a zoo, but I want to crop a smal section of it, and then enlarge it back with as clear and sharp an image as possible. I the finished image to print 11x14.
Or I guess I should ask if it is even possible to enlarge images without pixelation, in Elements 8. I think it is doable in CS4. I use a high end 20" iMac, and a Mackbook Pro.
    Thanks,

  • Loading .gif animations into Photoshop Elements 8 for Mac

For years I used Photoshop Elements 2 for Windows to make .gif animations with great success.
Then I switched to a Mac and bought Elements 8 for Mac.  Now, I am finding out that I can not load any
of the animations I made using Elements 2 into 8.  (And yet I can load animations I made using 8 into 2.)
In fact, I can not load any .gif animations into 8, other than if I make one and save it
as .psd.  8 allows me to make them, but not load them as .gifs.
My question:  Is there an easy way to load .gif animations into PS Elements 8 so a
person can work on the individual frames?  Am I going to have to convert any .gif animation I
want to import into 8 first into .psd?  All I seem to get when I try to load a .gif is the message
"This is an animated gif.   You can only view one frame." I have searched manuals and the
Net looking for a specific method of using PSE8 to load gif animations intact (not just one frame).
Is it possible?  Thanks. (I also have noticed that Elements 8 will not allow me to change the frame
speed -- it is unchangeable at .2)

    Dear Ms. Brundage -
I followed the directions detailed in your blog entitled "Moving a Catalog from Windows to Mac" as well as your description of the process on page 58 of your book "Photoshop Elements 9 - the missing manual."
I installed PE9 for Windows and converted my catalog.  I then backed up that catalog to an external hard drive.  I then connected the hard drive to my MAC on which I also installed Photoshop Elements 9 for MAC.  I opened the Organizer and tried to restore that converted catalog.  However, for each file in the converted catalog, a dialog box opened that said "Could not restore file:  /Volumes/Name of External Hard Drive/Filename.JPG."
I then made a second backup of the converted catalog using Photoshop Elements 9 for Windows and then tried to restore that catalog again on the MAC using Photoshop Elements 9 for MAC, again to no avail.
Do you have any idea what the problem may be?
    Thanks again.

  • Save for Web does not open dialog box in PS Elements 8 for Mac

After opening an image and selecting Save for Web, the Save for Web dialog box fails to appear. I've seen similar reports for PS Elements 6 for Mac, but did not find the same files in those directories. Running iMac with OS 10.6.

There are many things that only work in an admin account, but if you're willing to take the trouble, you can change the permissions to allow them to work in a standard account. See:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/362899
Note that it's pretty important to run Save for Web one time in the admin account after changing the permissions or it still won't work in the standard account.

  • File menu bug in Elements 8 for Mac

I recently purchased Photoshop Elements 8 for Mac. While the software overall works very well, I noticed a bug which has now started hampering my work. Out of the blue, 'Open', 'Open New Blank File' and 'Browse with Bridge' in the file menu become grey (disabled) and shotrcuts for opening files (Command-O and Command-N) or clicking on the open new file icon yield no result. Preferences menu cannot be accessed as well. As per the software license, I installed Elements on an iMac running OS 10.5.8 and on my MacBook running OS 10.4.11 I am having this problem on both :-( The menus do appear but intermittently. Any help to fix this bug would be deeply appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    I got it!!!!!
It's a clipboard related problem! Whenever I copy an image (a vector image or graphic specifically) from any application, New 'Image from Clipboard' option (in the file menu) gets enabled in Elements 8 and due to it, all menus relating to opening a new file get disabled including, strangely, preferences. Somehow Elements assumes that the new file/image will be the same as the one in the clipboard. The moment I copy any text in any application (so that the clipboard does not have any graphic in it), the disabled Elements menus get enabled! It seems Elements 8 does not support vector graphics perhaps that's why..

  • Where can I get a copy of elements 8 for mac

Suddenly, when I try to open Elements 8 for Mac I get the message, "Licensing for this product has stopped working." I tried repairing it using Support's nine suggested solution. None worked.
I no longer have my original DMG file I downloaded (don't ask me why). I do have the serial number in my Adobe account so I can install and run another copy. But, I need a copy. Where can I get one without paying a second time for it?
I'm happy with PSE 8 and feel no pressing need to upgrade. I just want back what I had before this sudden development.
    Thanks.
    Terry

I really appreciate the link. Unfortunately, it says a copy is no longer available for Mac OSX. Do you know if I can still get one somewhere else from Adobe? It's their product that failed me. I'm going to switch to Acorn, a nice low-priced full featured PSE alternative. I already use Lightroom for my photography but need graphic design capabilities for my website, business cards, etc.
    Thanks.

  • Can you do Green Screen/Blue Screen/Chroma Key on Adobe Premiere Elements 12 for mac?

Can you do Green Screen/Blue Screen/Chroma Key on Adobe Premiere Elements 12 for mac?  If not, what are the alternatives?

    JimbobT
ChromaKey, GreenScreen Key, and BlueScreen Key are not included in Premiere Elements Mac.
Some suggest Videomerge as the alternative. I do not. But Videomerge is not THE alternative.
Instead, I prefer the Difference Matte as a substitute for the 3 absent keying effects. Please check out my blog post on that which includes
    the how to.
    http://atr935.blogspot.com/2013/05/pe11-difference-matte-as-substitute-for.html
The suggestion has met with good results according to the feedback that I have gotten to this.
I am strictly a Premiere Elements Windows user who does not prefer Videomerge even in Windows.
Please review, consider, and let us know the outcome.
    Thanks.

  • Is anybody use LR with Photoshop Elements 6 for Mac ?

I've just bought Photoshop Elements 6 for Mac on a PM G5 (OS 10.5.2). PSE works but LR don't find it as external editor. I have done what is the Knowledge Base, I've deleted all adobe products (and all related files in /Library an home/Library) and reinstall only PSE 6 and LR 1.3.1 .
In KB, they tell that LR uses a com.adobe.Photoshop.Elements.plist but PSE 6 creates a com.adobe.PhotoshopElements.plist (without a dot between Photoshop and Elements). I've tried to duplicates this file but that does not work.
I don't understand why LR does not provide a way to specify where Photoshop (or Elements) is. I don't know what to do now.

For some reason Adobe decided to change the bundle name for the PSE6 application from com.adobe.photoshop.elements to com.adobe.PhotoshopElements. This change is also reflected in the Preferences file names.
Lightroom (1.3.1 and 1.4) seem to use the MacOS core services to find PSE - but use the com.adobe.photoshop.elements (and com.adobe.photoshop for full PS) bundle names.
The immediate fix, if you're handy with a hex editor, is to go into the Lightroom application bundle, find the file AgEditExternally.lua and patch the string "com.adobe.photoshop.elements" in the file so it becomes "com.adobe.PhotoshopElements" (remember a null terminator and make a copy of the file first!).
If that's Greek to you then either live with it and wait for an official fix or set up Elements 6 as the 'Additional External Editor'.

  • Adobe PhotoShop Elements 6 for Mac

I've downloaded, without difficulty, the Adobe PhotoShop Elements 6 for Mac 30 day trial onto my Pismo running OS 10.4.8 with 1GB of RAM. As soon as I try to open a photo the application crashes. I know the G3 processor (500 MHz) will be slow but it shouldn't be impossible for it to cope. Adobe's site says that G4 or higher is required. Perhaps I should look at earlier versions of the application. Any advice/suggestions would be appreciated

Hi, Tim. As you've noted, your Pismo doesn't meet the minimum System Requirements for PSE6:
    *PowerPC® G4 or G5 or multicore Intel® processor (your Pismo has a G3)*
    - Mac OS X v10.4.8 through 10.5.2
    - 512MB of RAM (1GB recommended)
*64MB of video RAM (your Pismo has 8MB)*
    - 1GB of available hard-disk space (additional free space required during installation)
    - 1,024x768 monitor resolution with 16-bit video card
    - DVD-ROM drive
    - QuickTime 7 software required for multimedia features
    - Internet connection required for Internet-based services
    (boldface added)
Yes, if I were you I'd try to buy an earlier version of PSE.

  • Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 for Mac does not show up in Applications. Tutorial for editing from iPhoto shows selecting the Adobe software in Applications. Am I missing a step in registering product?

Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 for Mac does not show up in Applications. Tutorial for editing from iPhoto shows selecting the Adobe software in Applications. Am I missing a step in registering product?

I answered my own question: There's a difference between "download' and "install." Hunt for "install" (1.5 hrs in my case) and line up your passwords, Adobe ID, etc, then install. Took 15 min. The right choice shows up in Applications. Now it's on to figuring out why photo selected for edit in iPhoto does not show up on screen in Elements.

  • Elements 6 for Mac doesn't recognize NEF files

When I try to open a Nikon RAW image (NEF) in Elements 6 for Mac I get the following message, "Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file."  To work with RAW is the whole reason I bought the Mac and also bought Elements!  I also bought Photoshop Elements 6 for Mac the Missing Manual and followed the instructions on page 41 to set the File Associations.  The Association for Nikon was already set to Elements.  I also tried to follow the Tip on page 43 to change the application which opens a particular type of file and the "Change All" option is not an option as it's light gray.  My equipment is brand new, the software is brand new (no upgrade) and I can't do something that seems like it should be straight forward.  I've tried everything I can think of, can anyone help me .... please?

I shut everything down and when I tried again it worked!!  Thanks!
