Crop interface is counterintuitive and needs correction.

As it stands, the current crop 'tool' breaks its own user interface. One uses handles to manipulate the crop tool- reshaping and resizing it as desired. At the instant one has obtained a desired crop size and wants to move the crop tool around on the image, the paradigm flips around: you are suddenly dragging the IMAGE, not the crop tool.
This drives me nuts. I waste a LOT of time wrassling with this inconsistency as I try to crop. If the developers feel this is a good thing, the least they could do would be to have a pref to maintain control of the crop tool when it's in use.

Tony C. -
I alluded to it in my comment early on, I think.
The reason seems to be the developers are going for simplicity.
And somewhere along the way "options" somehow got equated to "complexity". They are (apparently) afraid users will get frustrated and confused if given options to do what they want. I argue customers get MORE confused and MORE frustrated when they spend hours trying to find a simple option they know SHOULD probably be there... don't want to look like an idiot for asking such a simple question on the forums... then end up feeling like an idiot for even looking because the option isn't even there.
To play both sides... the one good point I heard in that regard is 'it's alot harder to take away an option than to put one in later... you can't take away features.'
Understandable... but at the same time, they are perhaps OVER-thinking whether to put something in (like what to do with files of same name with different extensions) that they end up clearly making the wrong decision.
The good thing is they, when realizing a mistake, can go back and fix that in an update. But in the meantime we have the confusion, and wondering if a certain personally important and seemingly simple feature/option will be included in the next update.

    Hello there, ytnoj.
Uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes can be a tricky endeavor and must be done in a very specific way. The following Knowledge Base article provides the step-by-step of the process:

do we need to create message interfaces for idocs and rfcs thatare imported

i knew that we need not create message types
do we also skip creating message interfaces

    hi,
you create an abstract message interface for IDOC only if you want to use
them in a BPM (integration process)
for more about IDOCs have a look at my book:

If you have to wonder which RAM is the correct type, you probably aren't buying from a store that will give you the right RAM.  Many stores specify model and vintage of Mac on their website to ensure you get the right RAM.  Check my FAQ*:

  • The application has encountered a problem and needs to close

I'm building an application on LV using TABs, FPGA DLLs and DLLs that comunicate with CAN, GPIB and PCI devices.
The program apears to work properly but sometimes, and I can't see the patern, it crashes with the error "the application has encountered a problem and needs to close..."
Sometimes the error apears when I'm trying to exit the program, some other times it crashes before that.
I can't find the error because the program may work well for several hours and then crash or it crashes after 5 minutes of working with it.
Any clues on what is going wrong?

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I'm still going through the example, but since the error ocours sporadicaly this could take some time to pinpoint the error.
I was reviewing the code and I was wondering about some simple things, like:
    - I have to many local variables, could this be causing somekind of an error?
    - since I'm using DLLs on my code, are there a way to make sure that all DLLs are loaded and unloaded correctly?
My program has a TAB with a simple TestStand user interface and when I change TABs I close the teststand ui; when I use that user interface I load and unload the same DLLs that I use on the other TABs, i. e., when using the UI I load all the DLLs that comunicate with the devices and when I change TABs I unload all the DLLs because on each separate TAB I can control those devices indicidually.
It's a bit hard to explain but I think I managed
Is there some truth on my questions? If so, what could I do?

This problem has been occurring for months for me now, and still, I have not found a solution. There used to be no problem. The solutions I found online including in this forum do not work for me.  I have uinstalled and reinstalled all bb softwares on my computer, I have deleted the apploader files, i have restored my XP computer to its factory settings and updated everything from scratch, from SP1 to SP3, and still, no solution is in sight.
    I copied the error log which is found below: I hope somebody can decipher this and offer a solution;

  • Saposcol.exe encountered a problem and needed to close.

Some days ago I successfully installed trial version 7.02 on a virtual Windows XP: Host Windows 7 professional 64 bit.
Immediately after installation I created SAPLOGON, started the system using SAPMMC and logged on as BCUSER in client 001. I did some work and everthing was fine.
Two days later there is an error message when XP mode has started:
saposcol.exe encountered a problem and needed to close.
If I try to start the system using SAPMMC it turns to green but shortly after that it is yellow.
    Syslog shows following messages:

there are more messages and I stop to give them all.
Does anybody have an idea how I can solve my problems? Why does the saposcol error occur when I start XP?
    Thanks

  • New to Network - Is this topology and understanding correct ? (please help)

    Hi all,
I am new to network and is currently taking my ICDN1 course, but have no actual hands-on experience beside the short labs lesson in class..
Hence, I will like to take this opportunity to check with gurus here for their advices and to see if my understanding is correct or wrong.
Please pardon me if I ask/make any silly questions or wrong theories.
    =========================================================
Refer to below diagram (which I drawn)
    Assumptions
Node 1 and Node 2 need to have public IPs assigned by ISP.
Internal and mangement network not reflected Security not a concern, NAT/DMZ not required
Firewall and Router are 2 separate physical device
    Questions
Q1) is my toplogy and IPs assignment correct base on the assumption above ?
Q2) do we need to assign IPs to Fe0/0 for both firewall and MyRouter ? Must it be using the ISP issued IPs or can it be internal IPs ?
Q3) Can we consider MyRouter Fe0/0 and below = 1 broadcast domain/network segment or
MyRouter Fe0/0 to Fe0/0 firewall = 1 network segment and Firewall Fe0/1 and below = another network segment ? and why ?
I am thinking of how does a IP packet transfer from node1 to the internet. Let's say node1 send a packet to 8.8.8.8
    [src ip=202.156.1.4][dst ip=8.8.8.8][src mac=a.b.c.d][dst mac=a.b.c.f] (packet going from Node1 to the gateway/firewall)
[src ip=202.156.1.4][dst ip=8.8.8.8][src mac=a.b.c.g][dst mac=a.b.c.h] (packet going from the Firewall to the MyRouter)
Q4) How does firewall know which interface it must exit on the next hop ?
Is there a routing table in Firewall ? Does the Firewall has a default gateway , or it has a default route ?
Q5) Since the firewall is connected to MyRouter directly, how does it know the MAC address of MyRouter and vice versa ? Can we do ARP request without going through switch ? Is the MyRouter physically connected to the switch or to the Firewall ?
Hope some kind gurus here can enlightened me.
    Thanks

    Hi Jon,
Thanks for shedding some light on my questions
In terms of IP addressing it depends on what the ISP has given you. Often you get two blocks, one for the link between the outside of your router and the ISP router and one for use for the connection between the outside interface of your firewall and the inside interface of your firewall.
The ISP router would then have a route for the block in use between your firewall and router pointing to the outside interface of your router.
Q1) Let's say the 1st block will be 202.123.123.1 and 202.123.123.2 that will be the IP between my external interface of MyRouter and the ISP router -> am I right ?
Q2) For the 2nd block based on my example, it will be 202.156.1.0/24, am i right ?
Q3) Can i further subnet this block (202.156.1.0/24) so that I can have a different subnet between MyRouter internal interface fe0/0 <-> MyFirewall external interface fe0/0 and another subnet for MyFirewall internal interface fe0/1 and below ?
In this case, I can have 2 different subnet so that routing and occur between MyRouter to MyFirewall ?
Q4) Actually with regards to the question on whether MyRouter needs to be connected to the switch is because from what I have understand, a packet need to have both the L3 ip addresses and L2 mac addresses to be send out.
Since the firewall is forwarding a packet from node1 to the MyRouter, it needs to know MyRouter mac address, so I am asking if an ARP request can be done directly from the connection from MyFirewall to MyRouter..
Actually, is there a routing table inside the Firewall as well ? how does it knows where to forward the packet out ?
Q5) I understand that it will be good to do NAT and I have been hearing from people that assigning public IPs on the nodes are bad. But why ?
If I have assigned public IPs on the nodes, doesn't the packets still go through the firewall for whatever inspection that is needed as compared to NAT ?
Jon, just a shoutout and thanks on the replies that you have given me as I do not really have anyone to ask except for the forums around.
    Thank you.
    Regards,
    Noob

  • Adobe Audition has encountered a problem and needs to close.

I have been using Audition 2.0 on this computer for quite some time and suddenly now when I open it, I get the cryptic error dialogue:
"Adobe Audition has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience.  If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost.  For more information about this error, click here."
When I click for more information, it's something useless like:
AppName: audition.exe    AppVer: 2.0.5306.2    ModName: unknown
    ModVer: 0.0.0.0   Offset: 65726168
Nothing on my computer has changed.  There are no viruses.  I have not added any new audio plug-ins.  I am completely up to date with all critical Windows XP SP3 updates and none have been downloaded and installed recently anyway.
I searched the knowledgebase and found a document that suggesting many things to try.  I tried them all, including running the Windows hard disk "check disk" tool with options to fix file system errors and recover bad sectors. I also defragmented the hard drive.  Lastly, I completely uninstalled Audition, then  manually deleted any remaining files, including registry entries as suggested in another knowledgebase article.
I then re-installed Audition 2.0 and it did exactly the same thing!  This it maddening.  Now it gets even more interesting.  I discovered that if I start up the
Adobe ExtendScript Toolkit that Adobe Audition installed also, then try to launch Audition from the toolkit, IT STARTS CORRECTLY!  I can then close the toolkit and use it like normal.  Weird work-around.
What the heck could possibly be going on?  Anyone have any ideas?  I've attached the error log file that is generated by the error but I doubt it will be of much help.
    Thanks!
    Steve in Chicago

stevefoobar2: I may have found a solution for you.
I had the same thing happen to me today. I was using Audition 2 this morning without any problems. But this afternoon, it started giving me the exact same error with no apparent reason. Nothing on my system had changed.
So I uninstalled it and installed Audition 3 in its place. Audition 3 continued to have the same problem that Audition 2 had, so we can assume that this is not something that was changed between versions.
But my attention was brought to the fact that you and I are both running Windows XP SP3 fully up-to-date. So I thought I'd try seeing it from the angle of a problem with Windows instead of Audition, and see if I didn't get a better result -
First, I logged on to Windows as Administrator. This may or may not be required, but you'll probably want to do it just in case (you'll see what I mean later). At this point, Audition still crashed the same way when I opened it, so I moved on to my next troubleshooting strategy -
Instead of opening Audition directly, I right-clicked the Audition icon and selected "Run as..." This may seem odd since I was already logged in as Administrator, but it proved to be the solution in my case.
In the "Run As" diolog, there are two main options: run as current user, or run as another user.
Since I was already logged in as Administrator, I could safely select the first option (run as current user). But here's the catch: selecting the first option allowed me to UNcheck the box underneath that says "Protect my computer and data from unauthorized program activity" (see the attached picture)
Audition opened without any problems when I did this.
This makes me think that one of the Windows security features suddenly decided to block something that Audition was trying to do, crashing the program in the process. By turning off this security feature, the problem was solved. And I only had to do it once. Every time afterwards, Audition has opened without any problems when I simply open it from my desktop. Perhaps Windows now remembers not to block Audition in the future.
However, I have not restarted my computer yet, or logged off as Administrator. You may need to tweak this solution if you plan to do either of these things. You may end up having to "Run as" Audition every time you restart your computer or log off. You may even need to select the SECOND option, and run the program as Administrator with the appropriate password.
Anyway, this was the only post I could find on Adobe.com concerning this problem, so I thought I'd post my solution in case it helped someone else.

  • Adobe Reader has encountered a problem and needs to close.

When reading PDF attachments, I get the following:  Adobe Reader has encountered a problem and needs to close. I have tried to remove Adobe Reader via Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs but that won't work.  I get this:  This patch package could not be opened.  Verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package. I don't know how to do what is being asked.  I have tried to download Adobe Reader again but get this when I do:  Note:  this application already installed.
I have Adobe Reader X (10.0.1) with an update installed on 2/19/2011.  I have Windows XP SP3.
Anyone who can help me get Adobe Reader working correctly again or uninstalling it so I can reinstall.
    Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the input.  Did you remove Adobe Reader 10 first before you downloaded the older version?  If you removed it, how did you do that?  The add/remove programs in control panel won't let me remove it -- it says a patch package can't be opened.

When I try to open Blackberry Desktop the message I get is that Blackberry Desktop Software has encountered a problem and needs to close.  I have a Blackberry Bold 9700 and as a result I cannot sync.  Does this mean I need to uninstall and reinstall?  If I reinstall will I lose the update that I have on my phone that has changed the interface?  Will I have to reinstall that as well?
Thanks for any help or advice you can give me.

    I suggest this thread:

It starts with a process for cleanly starting over, and there is some discussion, and there is also a post (15) with links to older Desktop Software versions, if those are needed. Note that this is not, by any means, guaranteed to work...but it has worked for many to resolve issues they are having.
Also, for XP users, please be sure you are on SP3...that is the current minimum level required with the latest Desktop Software.

  • Quick time Player has encountered a problem and needs to close

    Hello,
I am getting this message and it is driving me bonkers!
"quick time Player has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience".
Am running XP. Have uninstalled all Apple programs (QT, iTunes, update, bonjour, etc and in the order Apple recommends.) I re-installed QuickTime again.
    Same Problem.
Went to the control panel and launched the quicktime control panel.
QuickTime Preferences comes up. If i choose the "files type" tab this error comes up in a window:
    RUNDLL
An exception occurred while trying to run "C:\WINDOWS\system32\shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTSystem\QuickTime.cpl",QuickTime"
Clicking on this just closes the window.
Some one on another post mentioned something about another codex takinhg the place of an original. How do I find if this is causing it if only to shut down that avenue of conceren?
This has taken up SOOO much time I can't tell you and I can't use my iPhone or iTouch until I get it sorted.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Good work, craigeed. That's enough information (of precisely the right type) to suggest that you don't have a codec pack issue. If you had a codec pack problem, usually you'd get a rundll error if you just tried to open the control panel (and you're getting further in than that). Also, the rundll error for a codec pack problem would indicate that your QuickTime.cpl is lurking in the wrong place (down in the \system32\ directory). Your message is showing that your QuickTime.cpl is in precisely the correct location.
So we'd better start checking on some other possibilities.
The "QuickTime has encountered an error" message is pretty generic, but on at least some versions of QuickTime 7.x it has suggested malware problems. So we'd better try getting that off the table.
Download fresh definitions and run vigorous virus and antispyware scans. If your security software providers offer them, try backing that up with an online virus scan. (That can sometimes pick up an infection even if the security software on the PC has been compromised.)
Do the scans show up any problems? If so, does fixing them help with the QuickTime error?
