Crop Tool issue in Acrobat 9.5.2...help needed!

When using the crop tool in Acrobat 9.5.2 it now appears to draw the crop box as if was snapping to invisible guides (similar to those guides used in Quark or Indesign layouts for example.) I need to be able to draw a freehand crop box on my PDF files....have I changed a setting or preference somewhere that I am not aware of?

Found it...actually in the VIEW menu there is a selection for Snap to Grid which was checked. It was nothing in the preferences box. Thanks for your help.

  • Crop Tool Issues

    Hello Everyone,
I've just started using Photoshop to work on my photos and one thing I was getting into was cropping them down with the crop tool.
It was working fine for the past couple of days, but all of a sudden now when I go to crop something it crops down to almost nothing - all that's left is a little grey pixel! I can set the area that I want to crop and adjust it and everything, but then when I press enter it goes to the small grey pixel rather than cropping to the size that I've selected.
I tried reopening the document, trying it on another document, and restarting Photoshop and my computer but nothings working.
Anyone have any ideas about this? Thank in advance for any input!
    -Des

When you have the Crop tool selected, are there any numbers in the size or resolution fields in the Options bar across the top of your monitor?
That could be the issue. If so, then choose the Clear button to the right of those. That should restore it to normal function.

  • Crop Tool Issue with Vista

    Hi,
Every time I use the crop tool I get a tiny image as a result, the image resolution changes automatically to 9999px, if I set it back to 300px the image is crappy, and can't get around this.
I can only asume this is a Vista compatibility issue, as this is at my job's computer, and at home I have XP, and don't have this issue.
Anybody with the same issue? Is there a patch available? HELP!
    Thanks in advance

9999px is not a tiny image; it is huge if you mean 9999 x 9999 pixels.
    1) As an experiment, try leaving all of the inputs blank when using the crop tool.
If this works then read up on the crop tool input settings, especially the resolution setting. I always leave this resolution setting blank since I do not want to resample my image when I crop my image.
I also never set my h and w to pixels, because I dont like the way this setting works with pixels selected. It is very non-intuitive and not very useful.
If I want to crop to a set number of pixels, I use the marquee select tool and fixed size in pixels. Then Image/crop from the menu bar. This works the way I think the crop tool should work with pixels, but does not.
    Good Luck

  • Major issues with nforce3 250GB IDE controller: help needed

I am currently facing the following issues with the IDE controller of the Nforce3 250GB:
    1.   On random occasions, the PC hangs on the BIOS boot logo (Platinum) and fails to detect the IDE drives.
    2.   In most of the above cases, one of the PATA drives (generally the Seagate ST340016A) is not detected.
    3.   Sometimes, the PC shows a faded ‘Windows XP’ boot logo and gets stuck there.
    4.   Occasionally, the PC boots successfully into Windows but runs slower than a 386 (All IDE read/write operations take an eternity to complete)
I have thoroughly checked all the drives using Seagate SEATOOLS and Samsung HUTIL (done a complete surface scan and IDE cable checks) and found no errors.
All the drives are configured using the ‘Cable select’ option on their respective jumper terminals.
Here is a short summary of the drives:
Samsung SP0802N (boot drive), PATA primary master (Cable select)
Seagate ST340016A PATA primary slave (Cable select)
Seagate SATA drive with 2MB cache (shall update model number soon)
    Optical drives:
Asus CD writer Secondary master, cable select
Asus DVD Rom secondary slave cable select
--Total 4 PATA devices, 1 SATA device NO RAID
All the drives have been checked thoroughly. They are working fine. However, the motherboard fails to detect them on random occasions.
I have tried resetting the CMOS.
    Configuration:
    Athlon 64 3000+ E6 core with SSE3 support
    MSI K8N Neo2-FX BIOS 1.C

    Hi,
I am back here after a long long time    Now a days, I run a Intel 965P based Core 2 Duo as my primary desktop. I still use my AMD64 platform and I did fix all the issues with it!
Sorry, I didn't update this thread earlier with the details of how I had solved those issues...
Well, initially I could not get my Radeon 9600XT to work on the nforce 3. I dirched it and got a 7600GT and that solved the GFX crashes..
The HDD problem (the one that I described in this thread) was fixed by:
    1. Using the SATA ports 3 & 4 instead of SATA1 & 2!!!
Apparently, the issue of the cyclic reboot & the faded XP logo crash during reboot happens with a lot of Nforce 3 250 owners.
Using the other set of SATA ports fixes this for good...
I also replaced the 40GB Seagate ... But that wasn't the cause of this issue, because the cyclic reboot recurred with the remaining HDDs when SATA1 & 2 were in use...
Motherboards are really quirky, I admit

  • Withholding tax issue while doing Down payment Clearing - Help needed

    Hi,
    1. I have posted vendor downpayment  for 5000--> TDS was deducted here
    Bank Credit = 4500
    Vendor Debit =5000
    TDS Credit =500
    2. I have posted vendor invoice for 5000 --> TDS was calculated
    Material Debit = 5000
    Vendor Credit =4500
    TDS Credit =500
    3. Now i have transfer the down payment amount in F-54 (As per the above entry how much do i need to trasfer in this F-54 transaction???)
Note: How much amount do i need to transfer as per the above scenario in F-54? Kindly advise me
    4. For testing i have transferred 5000 down payment for the invoice 5000. But while doing F-44,system is not allowing me with differance amount. In F-44,system is not showing any withholding tax details. Kindly help me on this..
    Thanks

    Dear
TDS should have been deducted either at the time of Invoice posting (MIRO) or at the time of Advance Payment (F-48).  So you need to remove TDS code while doing  invoice or at the time of making advance payment in F-48.  If this is ensured there will not be any problem in clearing.
When inovoice is posted debit will be to GR/IR Account and not to Material Account.

  • My Elements 9 cropping tool just stopped working...crops the entire photo.

My Elements 9 cropping tool just started cropping the entire image away today.  Just got an Adobe air update last night. This is nothing I have done. All that's left after using my crop tool is a .jpg symbol. Please help.

First try resetting the tool. If that doesn't work delete the settings file by holding down Ctrl+Alt+Shift as you start PSE and answering the prompt to delete.

A comment or a question? Acrobat does have a crop tool. It is just not a destructive crop.

  • PS CS6 issue with crop tool: graphic glitches

I am using Photoshop CS6 v13.1.2 and I'm experiencing an issue with the crop tool. Whenever I use the crop tool, move the frame around and then zoom in on the image, the image becomes noisy, pixelated or has other 'graphic glitches'. I changed the PS preferences to not use the GPU and then rebooted the computer. Still the same issue without the GPU.
Running on Mac OS 10.8.3, iMac 2011 with AMD Radeon HD 6970M.
Is there another workaround to use this tool until it might get fixed? Thank you.

I've seen the same issue from time to time on windows 13.01.1 usually only on rather large pixel dimension documents.
Does it make a difference if you flatten the image before using the crop tool?
Also, using the classic mode for the crop tool doesn't seem to have that glitch.

  • Created Menu in JS in Acrobat 9.2 & Issue with Acrobat 9.4.4

I originally created this Javascript on Acrobat
7.0 because there was not a means for me to
    convert a pdf to jpeg.
When I updated to Acrobat 9.2, the following javascript that I have been using until I have acrobat 9.4.4.
// mystuff.js - Adobe Acrobat custom menu addition
app.addMenuItem({ cName: "SaveToJPEG", cParent: "File", nPos: 0,
          cExec: "this.saveAs('/c/football/JPEG Folder/Rept.jpeg', 'com.adobe.acrobat.jpeg')" });
         // End of media.js
In Acrobat 9.4.4  I have the problem of creating this jpeg now.
I see this issue with Acrobat 9.4.4 on Win XP Sp2 (or Sp3 if its the latest), and on Win 7 (64-bits) pro.
I believe there is now "Save As" menu option that will allow me to save a file to jpg now.
I manually tried this using the tool bar and its all works.
I call this operation using MS Access VBA code.   This is part of the VBA colde that I used:
                Path = pdfFile & T![DirName]
                pptFile = Left(T![DirName], Len(T![DirName]) - 4) & ".ppt"
                Set gApp = CreateObject("AcroExch.App")
                Set AVDoc = CreateObject("AcroExch.AVDOC")
                If (AVDoc.Open(Path, Path)) Then
                    Set AVPageView = AVDoc.GetAVPageView
                    Set pdDoc = AVDoc.GetPDDoc()
                    Set jso = pdDoc.GetJSObject
                    gApp.Show
                    gApp.MenuItemExecute "SaveToJPEG"
                    Set jso = Nothing
                    pdDoc.Close
                    Set pdDoc = Nothing
                    Set AVPageView = Nothing
                    AVDoc.Close (0)
                    Set AVDoc = Nothing
                End If
                OldName = "c:\football\JPEG Folder\Rept.jpeg": NewName = "c:\football\JPEG Folder\Rept_Page_" & Format(Count, "000") & ".jpeg"
                Name OldName As NewName
                Count = Count + 1
I am able to call the menu item "SAVE AS", but I don't know how to pass parameters to this ??   I was able to called the "Save As" as follow:
         gApp.MenuItemExecute "Save As"
How would I pass the parameter like I have in my Javascript ??
I need help to resolve this issue to work with Acrobat 9.4.4 ?

You would need to first set some javascript globals from your VBA code and then call your menu item.

  • Why is the crop tool in Lightroom 5 so sluggish on my otherwise very fast machine?

I'm running a Macbook Pro Retina, new from this time last year.  It's got 16gb RAM, a 768gb SSD (with about 150gb free space), and 2.8GHz processor.  Everything else is lightening fast on my system.  Lightroom is fine otherwise, but the crop tool is almost unusably slow.  When I tap "R", it sometimes takes 5-10 seconds to load into crop mode, and another 5-10 seconds to load out of it.
Additionally, it will show the incorrect preview in crop for the first few seconds, so if I go back to re-crop something, it will act as if I am adjusting the cropped version rather than the original, so if I exit too quickly, it comes back wrong.
I've tried what other users recommended - using both full screen and not, updated to the latest version, restarted multiple times with no solution.  Please help!

I was amazed at the amount of info you put into that post. Thanks for that effort.
I made sure Onyx was up-to-date and ran all the schemes you listed. That did nothing. However, reading further in your support thread gave me some ideas. I started looking into third party extensions and plugins. I recalled installing Silverlight a few days ago, for what reason I have no idea, since I trust Microsoft only marginally more than I trust Google. Which is to say, I don't trust either of them at all. So I threw that plugin into the trash.
I should have checked the performance right there, but I didn't. Right under Silverlight, you mentioned Flash. I decided to check the prefs on it, and found that it was set to allow sites to save info to my computer, and Camera/Mic and Playback were changed from "Block" to "Ask Me". I distinctly remember setting those for maximum privacy. I reset them, cleared all the files, and exited the prefs.
I just checked them again, and everything is changed back to allow Flash to have its way. Looks like I'll be uninstalling that now...
I also installed Acrobat recently, just to have an alternative to Preview. Sea Monkey opened an alert box just now, telling me to watch out for the Acrobat plugins, as they've been known to cause problems. Gotta love Adobe.
Back to the topic at hand, I think it was the Silverlight plugin that caused the slowdown. All my browsers are running at full speed now after I threw that plugin out. (Now if I could just get Safari to allow me to back up a page without re-rendering it every time...)
Thanks very much for the help.

  • PhotoShop Elements 9 Crop Tool is a total failure!

I do a fair amount of work that involves a lot of croping, mainly for animation sequencing. The Crop tool Custom Height and Width settings do NOT WORK.
I usually have a test image of the exact size that I work in. Example: 500 x100 pixels. This converts to 13.23cm x 2.65 cm at 96dpi. When I type these Crop Size requirements into the Crop tool settings box, I get a crop size way outside the size of the image that I want to crop. There is no way to set that size up yourself by using a test image as a template. In fact there is no way to set up custom sizes in the menu at all! I find this to be very upsetting as I have only just purchased this product. This limitation is something that I would expext to find in freeware, but not in a program like PhotoShop Elements 9. I have tried every conceivable way to try to get the Crop Tool to work to a Pre Set size with no success.
Why is it that a graphics program will not allow you to put in a pixel x pixel measurement? That is pure stupidity on the part of the programmers and very poor work on the part of the testing team. No wonder the program itself crashes from time to time. It just stops running - ppffft! I have a state of the art 64 bit system running Win 7 with plenty of RAM and a High end Graphics Card, so I know that my system is not at fault - it's PhotoShop 9. I cannot believe the primative workspace and the lack of the ability to custom predefine tools. All in all I'm extremely unhappy with PE9.
If anyone has had this or similar issues and has found a solution please tell me what it is.

In answer to your remark I will go through the whole process again at a later date and re-post. It does not make any difference to the resultant Crop size whether you input cm or pixels. Here's a point for you though since you mentioned it. Check out the Ruler - does it look like the Crop is anywhere near 500cm x 100cm? Maybe you were so busy trying to find fault that you failed to see the forest for the trees?
I only find fault where it exists - not where it doesn't. As far as Forums go, I am a member of a few Forums and have not had this sort of problem with answers before where the reply posts tend toward trying to pretend a problem doesn't exist or trying to prove fault with the poster. Hmmm.  Again I wonder how many of these reply's are from people with some affiliation with Adobe?
I will finish by saying that just for you I will go through the whole pointless exercise again and make sure that the Pixels are indeed input.
    1. Opening File
    2. File Open.
    3. Resetting Crop Tool.
    4. Crop Tool reset and Measurement Boxes clear.
5.First Measurement Input. PLEASE NOTE 500 Pixels Input!
    6. Second Measurement Input. PLEASE NOTE 100 Pixels Input!
    7. Third Criteria Input. PLEASE NOTE 96dpi Input!
    8. All Input Data correct and ready to Crop to preset Width/Height/Dpi restrictions.
    9. OH DEAR IT DOESN'T WORK! Again it fails to give me a simple 500x100 pixel at 96dpi Crop Box!
After this reply post you may just get some idea of the frustration I am experiencing. As you can plainly see the Crop Box drawn goes to the very edges of the Image to be Cropped. Can you see the problem now? Maybe I should just go with my friend's suggestions and take a video of the process and post it on YouTube? Then go to my local Consumer Affairs Department! If you can find what I am supposedly doing wrong - please elucidate as I have followed both the prescribed steps in the somewhat Shoddy Online Help and also the suggested remedies posted on the Forum. All to no avail. It just Won't Work!

  • How to get crop tool in comment enabled pdf file?

    Hi,
I want to place comments in pdf file using Reader 9. So i opened the pdf file in acrobat 8 and did 'Enable for commenting in Adobe Reader' so that i place the comments in Reader. I need all advanced editing tools. But when i comment enabled Crop tool will disappear. How can i enable crop tool in comment enable pdf?
    Thanks in advance...

You can't. By enabling commenting, you're adding certain usage rights to the document. In order for those usage rights to be preserved, certain types of changes (most) need to be prevented. If such changes were allowed (and actually made), the usage rights would be invalid and Reader would no longer be able to add comments to the file. So you can enable commenting in Reader, or allow for other changes in Acrobat, but not both with the same file.
