Crop tool missing perspective control

The new crop tool handling will take a bit of getting used to but one can always put it into "classic mode" so it handles in a similar way to CS5.
The one thing that is now missing though is the perspective button that i found was a very useful feature of the crop tool, i hope that this can be added back to CS6 as to me this is a step backwards.
Have i missed something and this facility is still there but hiding somewhere?

Hold down the crop tool in the tool bar - you'll find the perspective crop as a sub tool

  • Crop Tool Missing From Photoshop CS6 Toolbar

I am trying to use the crop tool but it appears to be missing from the toolbar on the left.  I have Photoshop CS6 and I simply can't work out how to find the tool.  Can someone help me out please?

Is it hidden behind the Slice tool?   Any tools with a little triangle in the bottom right corner, have move tools behind them.
You could use the keyboard short cut 'c', but if the Crop tool is hidden, keep pressing Shift c until you see it.

  • Crop Tool Missing in Photoshop CS4

I'm pretty new to photoshop, but I seem to missing the crop tool from the toolbar. I've updated to the newest version and have had a couple of people check it out, and no one can figure out what/where/why it's missing. None of the forums I've been on can explain this phenomenon either. Anybody know how I can retrieve the crop tool?

That worked! Now its back on the toolbar. Do you know where I can find other shortcut commands?
    In the Help files.
If you hover over a tool, a tooltip comes up with the shortcut.
You can also customise some shortcuts but not the tools..

  • Crop tool missing

My crop tool has dissapeared.  As far as I can see all of the other usual tools appear on the left side of the page.  If I then click quick fix the same photo is taken into that are & i can crop there.  I then click to go back to the main edit area & the cropped photo appears, but the crop tool itself still isn't displayed.
    How do I restore it?

On later versions of elements the crop tool shares the same slot as
the recompose tool does in the toolbox.

  • Crop tool out of control

It takes me ten times as long as usual to make crops. When I crop and image and let go of the tool the crop window starts drifting around and behaving like a rubber band, changing to whatever size it wants.
I have to try 10 different sizes until iPhoto does not move it anymore, so it takes 10 times as long.
Sometimes a pull down menu I don't want appears too.
    What am I doing wrong?

Try trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    *What's the plist file?*
For new users: Every application on your Mac has an accompanying plist file. It records certain User choices. For instance, in your favourite Word Processor it remembers your choice of Default Font, on your Web Browser is remembers things like your choice of Home Page. It even recalls what windows you had open last if your app allows you to pick up from where you left off last. The iPhoto plist file remembers things like the location of the Library, your choice of background colour, whether you are running a Referenced or Managed Library, what preferences you have for autosplitting events and so on. Trashing the plist file forces the app to generate a new one on the next launch, and this restores things to the Factory Defaults. Hence, if you've changed any of these things you'll need to reset them. If you haven't, then no bother. Trashing the plist file is Mac troubleshooting 101.

  • Perspective control with crop tool?

This may have already been addressed somewhere in the archives but I've been away from this forum for quite some time, so forgive me if it's an old topic.
Anyway, I've recently been on location photographing a variety of architectural exteriors and interiors and would love having a perspective correction - heck, why not go for the gold and ask for a 'Free Transform' option! - as part of the crop tool.  Granted, there is 'sorta' that in the lens correction tools, but not quite the same.

There have been a few posts asking for a better UI to control the perspective correction.  Personally I favour the photoshop crop transform approach too.

  • Crop tool prior to CS6 vs perspective crop tool

In the old days, one could just use the crop tool and, while drawing crop lines, check the perspective box if you found that you needed to change the perspective. With CS6 if you start with the crop tool, and find you want to change the perspective, you have to change tools to the new perspective crop tool. In the process, you have to tell the newly opened dialog box that you don't want to crop, to get to the perspective tool, which now has reset to its defaults. You've lost your cropping and you have to start over.
Is this the correct behavior, or am I missing something?
    Thanks . . .

And as far as I can tell, even if you set the perspective crop tool to constaints, like 8x10", those constraints are totally ignored, even if you use the shift key. All of these features did work with the old crop tool.  And if you wanted to change the perspective, all you had to do was click a button. It seems like we have taken one step forward, and two steps back.
The W and H are not intended to be constraints on the source aspect ratio. They are for optionally specifying the destination dimensions.
Perspective Crop Tool is a specialised tool that the designers never will have intended to be used as an alternative to a non-distorting cropping tool.
The user is expected to be sourcing a non-rectangular quadrilateral that's to be distorted into a rectangle, so there is no reason for the tool to feature an aspect ratio constraint for the source region.
I'm not saying that you shouldn't have the option of the CS5-style crop tools in CS6. I am only saying that I can understand why the new PCT doesn't have the same features as a regular crop tool.

    "flying blind."
"You totally lost me there, and I have no clue as to what your last question means."
"I think I now know what you mean."
Evidently language is of difficulty for you.
Perhaps the Oxford dictionary can provide you with your much needed “sensible, meaningful” content.
According to the Oxford dictionary, a dialogue is to "Take part in a conversation or discussion to resolve a problem."  It also states that a dialogue is "A discussion between two or more people or groups, especially one directed toward exploration of a particular subject or resolution of a problem.”
That IS the inherent nature of posts. A conversation is reciprocation.  Questions, followed by more questions.
It is not difficult to understand.
"how to ask your questions correctly for quicker and better answers" is best actualized by simply asking.
Is it a Mac; is it not, etc.
That IS sufficient.  That IS "quicker and better answers[ing]."  That IS what a dialogue IS.   And that IS actually what is "sensible," "meaningful," and "detailed."
The Oxford dictionary can best delineate and elucidate your lack of comprehension in what ACTUALLY “meaning” is.
As well as what is "sensible" AND "detailed."
By the way, am I being repetitive.
Still confused.  Let the experts that do not require much explanation respond with "quicker and better answers" for both "sensible, complete" responses." They are not "lost," "blind," or provide "incomplete" drivel.

  • Why did you omit the perspective check box in the crop tool?

I used the perspective frequently because I have sciolosis & most of my photos are askew. that easy checkbox was very convenient.

Perspective Cropping is now its own tool, right under the Crop Tool in the Tools Bar.

  • My crop tool isn't visible in the effects controls of Premiere Pro.  Where could it be?

I've just downloaded Premiere Pro CS6 and it's all up to date.  When I go to the effects controls to crop a graphic the "crop tool" is not showing as in it's simply not there.  To be clear, it's not there at all, no selection for a drop down.   Is there some where that I need to access to make it show up or what?  The motion, scale, opacity, etc are all showing as an option, but not the crop tool.

I just did that write before I read this post.  I was going on here too delete this, but saw you answered it!  That's exactly what I did.  I've been watching tutorials and they show it as if it automatically shows up in Effect Controls...

  • Crop tool/perspective crop difficulties...

I've been using CS6 for a little while, and like many others (and UNLIKE many), I'm not happy with the changes to the crop tool...  I found a number of discussions about the crop tool, but none appeared to address my simple difficulties...
In past versions I created presets - for example, 1024x768x72ppi or 14 in x 11 in x 240 ppi.  I could very quickly apply a preset, and if my image was vertical instead of horizontal, I simply clicked the arrows between horizontal and vertical dimensions to switch the dimensions.  This capability appears to be gone from the CS6 crop tool.  How do I switch the dimensions in CS6?
And, no, the perspective crop tool isn't an adequate replacement.  I can't find ANY way to do presets in that tool.  Nor do I seem to be able to find a setting to show the "rule of thirds" on the perspective crop.
Was this thing changed just for the sake of change, or is there some SIGNIFICANT improvement somewhere in the tool that's not intuitively obvious to the uninformed observer?

OK, I AM the dumbest human ever!  I could SWEAR I tried every button and switch and whatever on the crop tool.  But, it does indeed work as you said......
Now I have a DIFFERENT problem....  I"ve gotta relearn how to crop to a size since it appears that selecting the 8.5x11 for example, does NOT give me an image size of 11 inches times the default resolution...  Another thing that's been consistent for X versions that I'll have to relearn...  Are you guys SURE the Adobe people didn't just change the way a bunch of this stuff works for giggles?

  • Perspective setting for crop tool

Is there a perspective setting for the crop tool in OS Elements 11?

That action doesn't ship with photoshop elements.
I recorded the action in the full version of photoshop for use in photoshop elements.
You can download the Crop with Perspective action from here:
    https://workspaces.acrobat.com/?d=sCtr20eu02Ei92ALhVZWow
After you download the Crop with Perspective.zip, unzip the file and load the action from within pse 11 Actions panel.
    Steps to use the action:
    1. Play the Crop with Perspective action and you'll get a square crop (bounding box) at the center of the image.
    2. Drag the corner handles (highlighted in red above) to the corners of the object in the image you want to straighten
    3. Sometimes the above is enough and you can hit the green check mark to complete the crop.
Though i usually draw out the center handles (highlighted in yellow above and red below) to the corners of the document to get more freedom
for the final crop of the image
    4. Result after hitting the green check mark to complete the crop.
    6. After using the crop tool to crop just the grid.

  • Perspective correction via crop tool.

I have always used the crop tool to correct skewed lines, both vertically and horizontally.  Not sure how to do it in the new Beta Version.

Perspective Crop is now its own tool. It is just under the Crop Tool stack.

  • Crop & Straighten tool missing from Automate menu

    I'm using CS3, Extended
The Crop & Straighten tool doesn't show up under the Automate menu.
I've gone to Edit > Menus > Automate and it doesn't show up there either.
I have quite a large amount of multiple scans that need to be cropped and separated.
I never had this problem with CS2.
The following are listed under the Automate menu:
    Batch
    PDF Create
    Create Droplet
    Pro Canvas (twice)
    Photo Tools Batch
    Photo Tools
    Conditional Mode Change
    Fit Image
    Merge to HDR
    Photo Merge
I've tried opting for the no-show in the Edit > Menus thinking that there may be too many selections, but that didn't help. Also, like I said, Crop and Straighten doesn't show up there at all.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
