Cropping a pic is creating a 64gig temp file!

Not sure what's going on here, but when I crop a picture I'm immediately filling all the available space on my hard drive which happens to be 64gigs! Once I get the scratch disk error due to filling up the hd and click Ok the temp file automatically gets rid of it's self.
The crop settings are
Width=800in
Height=600in
Resolution=400 pixels/INCH
I have NO IDEA what the default crop settings should be and am wondering if someone really knocked these out of whack? Thanks so much for any help you can provide!
Misc. Info
2gigs of RAM
Photoshop CS2

64GB is a pretty huge Temp file for Photoshop. That will happen if you're working on HUGE files, or if you leave Photoshop open and you're working on the same image for a LONG time.
But as long as it goes away when you quit and relaunch, things are working as they are supposed to.
But, now for your
REAL problem.
All you need to do is click on the "CLEAR" button in the Options Bar when you have your Crop Tool selected. Default settings for the Crop Tool are to have the Width, Height and Resolution fields
empty.
With those settings you posted, you're asking Photoshop to take whatever area you define by the crop tool and expand it to a file that is 320,000px × 240,000px. That's a dang big file, by anyone's standards.
I'm kind of surprised that doesn't just freeze your whole system...That says good things about your system!

  • Why is iTunes Match creating hundreds of temp files in my iTunes folder?

I'm syncing a large (24000 songs) library, and I noticed my free space has gone from 180GB to 70.  I found about 1400 temp files that have been created in the iTunes application folder, each one about 50mb.  Has anyone else noticed this?  Can I delete the files, or get iTunes to clean them up?
    Thanks!
    Matt

    Same problem here.
I just created another question in the iTunes for Mac section of the discussion forum, because it it probably not directly caused by iTunes Match, but a generic iTunes problem.
Good to see, I'm not the only one though...

  • IPhoto created 156GB hidden temp file??

I just found 156 GB big hidden file on my hard drive. It seems to be somehow related to iPhoto Library, my guesstimate from the file name:
    Users/"usernamexx"/.OTMSW/203F366E-B0EB-3099-8AC3-E15F118B53E8/~/Pictures/iPhoto Library/Library6.temp
*Does anyone know what is going on? Can I just delete this file?*
    I am using iPhoto '08 7.1.5 (378).
This has happened since Nov 08 when I changed over to the new MacBookPro.

    Wondering
Welcome to the Apple user to user assistance forums
quit iPhoto and drag it to the trash but do not empty the tradh - launch iPhoto and test it out - I'm sure you will be ok but test for a while before emptying the trash - I've not seen that temp file before
Do not mess with any other files - especially the library6.iPhoto file - in fact you should be regularly backing the library6.iPhoto file up (Us Old Toad's automator script for convenience)

  • Why does Firefox create so many temp files in cache? Once it filled up entire free HD space (46GB)?

Every now & then, Firefox will have created zillions of directories and files in Cache within the directory for a Firefox profile. The directories are called 0 (zero) through F (using the hex numbers as names, i.e.g), and within each of these will be more directories (with two digit hex names). The last time this happened (1 week ago), these directories ate up ALL of my free hard drive space (about 46 GB worth).
Why does this happen? Can I stop it from happening? If so, how?
    THanks.

Yes it should be easy to reset.
    It may be set from
    * '''Options -> | Advanced | -> |Network| -> Cached Web Content''' <br /> [] Override automatic cache management
    * see [[#w_cached-web-content]]'''_cached-web-content'''
Presumably your automatic setting has been overridden and the box needs unchecking.
I know Firefox does split the cache up like that IIRC it allows the cache to be faster and solves fragmentation issues.
46GB That seems a surprising amount and can not be right if it eats up all hard disk space. I also know that the file places.sqlite is a variable size, but that is based on the system in use.
The ordinary HTTP cache is also set presumably intelligently, but can be over-ridden by the user
    This has some background info
    * https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/HTTP_Caching_FAQ
My own settings as viewed in about:support are
    browser.cache.disk.capacity 358400
    browser.cache.disk.smart_size_cached_value 266240
    browser.cache.disk.smart_size.first_run false
My cache use is limited to about 350MB

  • ODBC error generating temp file: "Unable to create file buffer" Server 2008

    Guys:
I have a 32 bit application that has been running for years with no problems under XP and MS Server 2003.
To access the oracle DB we use MFC drivers and ODBC system datasources for Oracle 10g and 11g.
We recently moved from MS Server 2003 to Server 2008 Standard Edition (32 bit).
We also upgraded our DB from 10g to 11g R2.
Now the application gets intermittent errors when accessing the database like the one below:
    "Unable to create file buffer"
I looked this up on other forums and it seems to be a problem with the ODBC driver creating uniquely names temp files
in the system temp folder. This was a documented problem some years ago and was fixed but now seems to have
reared its ugly head for Server 2008.
I'm not sure who the culprit is: 2008 32-bit or the 11g drivers.
I just know that some of our transactions fail because ODBC has problems and this is killing us.
As you see we are still running on a 32 bit OS and have created the ODBC DSNs using odbcad32.exe.
The application connects to the DB and works MOST OF THE TIME but random transactions now fail because of this error.
If I try to kill all of the *.tmp files from the windows temp directory it seems to solve the problem for a while but then the problem comes back rather quickly.
Any help here would be apprciated.

This may solve the issue: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/130719
Don't just delete the offending file...it will be recreated eventually. Post a dummy file to prevent the error from reoccurring.
My only question is why you put more info on database and ODBC versions here and not in your SR? I'll note this in your SR for ya ;)

  • Temp files greater than 2GB

While running an OBIEE report, I receive the following error:
    State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 46073] Operation 'stat()' on file '/u02/OracleBIData/tmp/nQS_28056_15671_77250638.TMP' failed with error: (75) . (HY000)
The problem seems to be that the TEMP file created by the query is greater than 2 GB.
Is there a way within OBIEE to bypass the 2 GB file size limitation of 32-bit servers (Windows/LINUX)?

John - I don't understand how this is a cache issue. The file being created is a TEMP file in the /OracleBI_Data/tmp directory. What is the relationship between the TEMP directory and cache?
My DATA_STORAGE_PATHS is currently set at 4 GB.
By the way, I have spent a lot of time reading your OBIEE blog, and have found it to be extremely helpful.

  • Temporary tablespace groups - all available temp files not used

We have a temporary tablespace group TEMP_GROUP made of the following pre-existing temp files. I have placed the size in MB in brackets. Names have been changed to protect our privacy. NLS is spanish
    SQL> select * from dba_tablespace_groups;
    TEMP_GROUP TEMP1 --(1024)
    TEMP_GROUP TEMP2 --(2000)
    TEMP_GROUP TEMP3 --(8048)
This tablespace group is the default temp tablespace of this database, and is the default temp tablespace of sys in the example that follows
    connect sys/password
    alter INDEX schema1.idx1 rebuild
    ERROR en línea 1:
ORA-01652: no se ha podido ampliar el segmento temporal con 128 en el tablespace TEMP1
-- this coinicdes with the TEMP1 showing 100% used
NOTE that the message refers to the tempfile TEMP1 and not the TEMP_GROUP, which has 11GB of space available
The size of the index is small enough to be handled by this TEMP_GROUP, although quite large to be handled by TEMP1 on its own.
    SQL> SELECT sum(bytes)/1048576 Megs, segment_name
    2 FROM dba_extents
    3 WHERE segment_name = 'IDX1'
    4 GROUP BY segment_name
    5 /
    MEGS SEGMENT_NAME
    840 IDX1
What appears to be happening is that when the rebuild index has used all the space available in TEMP1 tempfile, it does not go on to use the space available in the other two tempfiles that make up the TEMP_GROUP. This seems to be contrary to the very idea of having set up a TEMP_GROUP.
This suposition is born out by the repitition of the operation using the owner of the index, whose default temp file is not TEMP_GROUP as a whole, but the component tempfile TEMP_3 which has 8048MB available
    connect schema1/password
    SQL> alter INDEX schema1.idx1 rebuild
    Índice modificado.
-- This time the index does get rebuilt, pesumably because there is space available in TEMP_3 to carry out the rebuild.
    My questions are
    1. ¿Why does the original operation fail out when it has reached the limit of tempfile TEMP1 instead of using the further space availbel within TEMP_GROUP? ¿Isn´t the point of temporary tablespace groups the explicit avoidance of this type of issue?
    2. Depending on the answer to #1, and asuming that the behaviour is normal (ie, that a rebuild index should not be expected to take place using more than one temp file), does anyone have any idea ¿what dicatates the order of usage of the component temp files in a group?. ¿Is it alphabetical order of tempfile name?, ¿file create time? or ¿something else?
    3. As I mentioned the group was created out of existing tempfiles, rather than creating some temp file specifically to form the group. ¿Could this fact explain the inability of the operation to move onto the next temp file, once the first is exhausted. There is nothing in the documentation to suggest that there should be any difference in behaviour between a temp group created with new temp files, or the inclusion of existing temp files when creating a temp group.
As you can see, we have worked round this problem, but it is an issue of importance given that it may affect other operations that leverage this temp file group. Any information or pointers to documented instances of similar occurances would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
    Edited by: user602617 on 06-may-2009 0:57

Half solved. This thread seems to suggest that there should be n expectation that a sort operation will begin to use the n+1 member of a temp tablespace group once it has exhausted member n.
    TEMP Tablespace Groups
But this does not answer my secondary question as to how to determine which temp tablespace member is used first. I guess the solution would be to drop the the group and recreate it with three adequatly sized temp tablespaces.

  • Photoshop CS6 taking lot of space in Temp file

    Hello,
My Photoshop CS6 created a 30GB temp file in the app data folder on the 1st partition (128GB SSD). Saving the project stopped at 98% as it says: full data volume.
Next i tried to put the temp file on the second hard disk (to do so i gave Photoshop the path to the 2nd hard drive under settings). Now it doesnt save the file anymore; it stops at 0%.
    My Hardware specs:
    Fujitsu Celsius W420 - Core i7 3770
    12GB Ram
    128GB SSD and 500GB HDD
    ATI Firepro - 1GB Vram
Is a 30Gb file too big for Photoshop?

Do you mean PS CS6 is occupying 30 GB of space while saving a particular document?
Does this happen with only that document or with other files as well?
Did you set that partition as Scratch disk?
What is the file size of that file and what does it contain?
Lets optimize PS for best performance and check. http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/gpu-opengl-support-photoshop-cs4.html

  • Relocating skype history and temp files folder on ...

    Hi Skype Team.
My laptop is equipped with SSD storages and i am configuring it to reduce disk write operations intensity.
SSD is the system drive, marked with C letter. OS is windows 8.1 x64
Disk operation analysis shows that skype is in top of disk writers, so i want to reconfigure it's temp files folder and history db location to another drive D, not ssd.
I reinstalled the skype to another drive and created a folder for temporary files.
Skype .exe location is "D:\Program files\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe"
The new folder i created for skype temp files is: "D:\Program files\Skype\DataStore"
Following one of the topics i tried making a new shortcut, with the path specified as:
    "D:\Program files\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe" /datapath:”D:\Program files\Skype\DataStore” /removable
    But skype don't start.
    When i remove /datapath:”D:\Program files\Skype\DataStore” /removable, skype starts successfully.
Please advise proper measures to change temp file and history db folder
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

This should have been working. I'm using this kind of Skype shortcut to run several different Skype versions at the same time.
    http://community.skype.com/t5/Windows-desktop-client/Why-did-Microsoft-have-to-go-and-ruin-Skype-lik...
Please, copy the exact text from shortcut's Target field and post it here. There might be a space missing.

  • Temp file save location

1st Why is Itunes creating so many temp files?
2nd Can I change where Itunes saves these file? They are saving on "my music" folder which is part of our server, wasting valuable space. If I have to have these files I would like to save them to my C: drive where my music is actually stored.

The right side column "More like this" leads to some discussions with temp-file problems. For instance here an useful answer: https://discussions.apple.com/message/12995935#12995935 and here https://discussions.apple.com/message/6162742#6162742
It seems iTunes has problems to write to the correct file (.itl) and creates temp-files. The fix would be to "unblock"/enable the writing process again, so you don't get any temp-files and don't need to store them someplace else.

  • Bug Report: "Save For Web" creates undeletable temp files

This is an odd one but sometimes (maybe 1 in every 30 times) I am doing a "save for web" from PhotoShop it creates (in addition to the requested *real* file) an undeleteable temp file in the folder where the real file is being saved.
    Here is how one looks:
This is what I see when I try to delete it:
Restarting the Finder from Activity Monitor makes this temp file disappear.
This started happening since I upgraded to an OWC Mercury Extreme hard drive so I suspect it has something to do with how files are deleted from it (but I have no evidence whatsoever to support this. :-) )

  • Crystal Server 2013: How to troubleshoot "Can not create temp file---- Error code:-2147215357"

We have a Java7 web app, which generate PDF report by calling Crystal Server 2013 SP4.
The app is being deployed on many different servers. We sometimes got the error below when generating report:
com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.lib.ReportSDKException: Can not create temp file---- Error code:-2147215357 [CRSDK00000615] Error code name:internal
    at com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.application.PrintOutputController.controllerExportInternal(PrintOutputController.java:280)
    at com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.application.PrintOutputController.export(PrintOutputController.java:152)
    at com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.application.PrintOutputController.export(PrintOutputController.java:130)
    at com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.application.PrintOutputController.export(PrintOutputController.java:113)
Problem is, this seems to be  a pretty generic exception. It could be caused by many different reasons.
e.g. network connection problem, wrong DB login, wrong folder path, lack of folder access right, etc.
Each time we could only guess what's wrong.
We are running into it again, and this time everything seems correctly configured so far.
We wonder if there are more info we can get to troubleshoot? For example, any log file of Crystal Server we should look into? Or does Crystal Server has debug mode which prints more details to tell us what goes wrong?

    Hi Henry,
I believe you are using RAS SDKs to export the reports to PDF.
Apply trace on RAS server and check what you find in RAS logs.
Check whether you can see timeout error is RAS logs. Usually if connection is lost and the RAS server no more have the session to write to the temp directory, we do see these errors.
Also, does the account that runs RAS have permissions to create a file in RAS's default temp directory? Are you getting any out of memory or out of disk space exceptions on App server or RAS, tracing RAS server is the way to move forward.
    Thanks,
    Prithvi
    >>I believe you are using RAS SDKs to export the reports to PDF.
    Yes
    >>Apply trace on RAS server and check what you find in RAS logs.

How to configure tracing, and where are RAS logs? Is it configured in CMC --> Servers --> Crystal Report Services?
    >>Also, does the account that runs RAS have permissions to create

    Pretty sure yes.
    >> Are you getting any out of memory or out of disk space exceptions

    Not on App server.
For RAS, that's the problem, I am not sure where to look.......

  • Can not create temp file---- Error code:-2147215357 [CRSDK00000615] Error code name:internal

    Hello,
While exporting Export reporting from BI4 getting exception
Can not create temp file---- Error code:-2147215357 [CRSDK00000615] Error code name:internal
In Trace Log I am getting
com.crystaldecisions.xml.serialization.XMLWriter||Failed to create an object instance for CrystalReports.TextObjectFormat
    java.util.MissingResourceException: Can't find resource for bundle java.util.PropertyResourceBundle, key CrystalReports.TextObjectFormat
      at java.util.ResourceBundle.getObject(ResourceBundle.java:374)
      at java.util.ResourceBundle.getString(ResourceBundle.java:334)
I tried following solution according to the all forums but still issue exist.
Done changes mention in KB article In <Installation-dir-of-BO>\Common\4.0\java\CRConfig.XML we have to increase the JAVA heap MIN and Max size
              <JVMMaxHeap>64000000</JVMMaxHeap>          <JVMMinHeap>32000000</JVMMinHeap>
Increase the value in the ReportApplicationServer Services in the CMC for "Number of database records to read when previewing or refreshing a report". The value -1 is for unlimited records but not recommended for performance.
Check for temporary read write permission on server
Using SDK library from C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP Business Objects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\java\lib
Can you please let me know is there anything missing.

    Hi,
We face the same problem with some BI4 reports.
The same report works well with the "Crystal Reports Viewers API", as used in Infoview, but not with the "Report Application Server (RAS) API".
This error appears after some time working on a report. If we reproduce the same report, but from zero, no problem.
    Hope it can help.
    Ludovic.

thinking that the standard location for LR software is corrupted and that if I
chose a different place it would work. I say this because whether I use my
original disc or download from adobe I get the same warning. I have 100GB of
memory on the hard drive and I have cleaned the computer with Mcaffee and free
software. What should I do next? I can't use this software and I doubt LR 5
would open up with my current problem.
