Cropping a series of photos in consistent format?

I have a whole series of action-figure products that I shot in my studio, and I want to now crop each one in the same manner.
How do I control the crop tool to apply the same crop to a series of photos?

That's a tough call.  It all depends upon you original image.  The best bet is if your specimen samples have been stained to show the structure you want to isolate.  If so, you can look at the different color channels to see which channel brings out the detail that you want to isolate the best, then use that channel to make a selection.  Maybe make a duplicate of that channel and increase the contrast using curves or apply it to itself using multiply blend mode.

  • Flip the crop ratio in camera/photos app?

In the new photos app, does anyone know how to flip the crop ratio, change it from say 2:3 to 3:2? This used to be simple in iOS 7 and earlier, and it's a common feature of photo apps (iPhoto, Aperture, Pixelmator, etc.), but it seems to be missing from iOS 8.
Let's say you want to do a portrait crop from a landscape photo using a set ratio like 5 x 7. In iOS 8 there appears to be no way to do this easily. You can flip the photo, edit it while on its side (not a natural view which makes doing a nice crop more difficult), then flip the photo back to its proper orientation, but that's a lot of unnecessary steps.
Am I missing an easy way to do this?

    Good day!
I notice no difference to prior to 8.4.
But maybe the ACR Forum may be a better place for questions realted to ACR.

I uploaded photos in .jpg format to my iPad, but now all of those photos appear as .ithmb files and cannot be opened, even on the thumbdrive they originated from. How do I get them back to .jpgs?

Sorry, should've mentioned some more information. I synced the ipad to the folder of photos. The original photos had file names like "_MG_4865.jpg" and after syncing the folder in Itunes, all files were now found in a folder called "iPod Photo Cache" which was filled with many folders with labels like "F23" etc. (There were ALOT of photos.) In those folders there are several files with names like "T343.ithmb". Not a .jpg to be found and I can't view any of the photos.

  • I have Photoshop CS 6 on my computer.  I want to bring a series of photos together into one image wi

I have Photoshop CS 6 on my Mac computer.  I want to bring a series of photos together into one image without any space between images, does anyone know how to this?  Ideally I would like to this manually.
The reason I ask in my ealier verion of Photoshop, CS3, there was a manual alignment  feature when using 'Photo Merge' feature, undr which you could manual alignment photographs if you wanted to, and I do in this instance.  This feature was removed in subsequent versions of Photoshop CS 4,5, and 6.

Sean, Batch resize them all to the samne size, load as layers, increase Canvas size, and the layers will 'snap' together with the Move tool.  You'll be able to use the alignment tools in the Options bar when the Move tool is selected.  You will also be able to use the 'Auto select layer' feature in the Options bar to make it easier grabing the right layer.
Otherwise, get hold of Contact Sheet 2. Still resize all the images to the same size, and set the gap to zero, and turn titles off.  Please note this is from memory, and it is years sonce I last used Contact Sheet.

How do I view a photo in PHP format on ipad2 via Safari?

Photos are not in PHP format. PHP is a server-side scripting language. If you are having trouble viewing a PHP page there must be an issue with the page's PHP script.

  • Photo Pages: TIFF Format Doesn't Work?

I just published an iWeb site with 3 photo pages in it. All of the photos were in TIFF format. I found that when the site was viewed via Safari (or IE in Windows) the photos looked horrible...pixellated...slideshows didn't work, etc.).
I then tried re-publishing the site and got the same results.
My next step was to convert all of the TIFF photos into JPEG format and republish the site again. This seemed to do the trick, as now all of the photos look good, and the slideshows now work.
If, as I'm guessing, iWeb doesn't play well with TIFF images, why are we allowed to use them...shouldn't iWeb warn against this?
Has anyone else had this problem?

    Hi Mike ...
I think this byte order thing is probably the same for most (all?) multi-platform raw converters. I've checked this with Bibble and ACR. If I drag a converted tiff into iWeb the displays messed up. If I then load into PS and do a "save as" you get the dialogue which lets you choose pc/mac byte order and checking the mac option fixes things. Similarly doing a "save as" out of Preview saves in mac order.
Hopefully they'll fix it in an update.

  • All photos in portrait format are displayed blurred in the preview mode "fill" of the library. In all other modes e.g. "fit"or "1:2" the photos are sharp. How can I change this, so that the photos are still sharp when displaying them in the mode "fill"?

All photos in portrait format are displayed blurred in the preview mode "fill" of the library. In all other modes e.g. "fit"or "1:2" the photos are sharp. How can I change this, so that the photos are still sharp when displaying them in the mode "fill"? My Lightroom release is 5.7.1.
    Thanking you in anticipation!

I'd like to get all these '-1 suffix' files together with their associated Develop adjustments into one folder (if they aren't already) so I can see them in Grid view in the Library module, which I use as my basic starting point for everything else at this early stage of my Lightroom 'career'.
To see what folder these are stored in, right-click on a photo and select "Go to Folder in Library".
Advice: if you are going to use Lightroom effectively, you probably want to stop using folders as your method to create a grouping of photos that are already in Lightroom; there are plenty of built-in tools, such as keywords, collections, color labels, etc.
I don't understand why the search on the entire catalog picked up apparently the same two file versions but also got the Develop adjustments when going to the relevant Folder didn't show the adjustment black squares against each image in Grid view nor were they there when the images were opened in the Develop module.  Perhaps if I understood this, I'd be a bit more confident of moving forward myself.
These are most likely different versions of the same photo, in different folders. Lightroom stores the edits in its own catalog, and so it knows that one folder's photos have edits, and the other folder's photos do not have edits. Please understand that Lightroom is a database, it knows where the photos are at the time you import them (or add them to the catalog by synchronize), and then if you move things around in your operating system, Lightroom does not know anything about that and problems begin. Thus the advice to organize using Lightroom tools and methods and not operating system tools and methods.

  • Change photos from PDF format to Jpeg

how do I change photos from PDF format to Jpeg?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
Open the existing pdf file with Preview.
In preview, select File, Save As, and click on the Format window to change PDF to JPEG.
    Then click the Save button.
Quality may suffer in the translation from one format to another.
In a quick test, changing Quality to 'Best' and Resolution to 300 dpi, the text in my sample page was crisp, but the original photo area was very pixelated.
The original image in the pdf file was also pixelated when viewed at 100%
A portion of the test image and text at shown at 100%. (Click on the image to view full size):

  • After taking a photo in RAW format, which format is best to save in for editing in photoshop

I want the highest quality pictures possible, so I take photos in RAW format, but what format should I be saving in during photoshop editing?   Is TIFF or PSD or EPS, or some other format the best for retaining the highest quality photos?

To me saving as PSD seems more natural.  Since it's Photoshop's native format, you can rest assured that all aspects of your document will be saved.

  • Best way to click through series of photos on a page?

I'm building a site in DW CS3, on page will have a series of photos with captions for people to view.
How do I build the page so people can click through the photos, without having to create a page that has to load for each photo .
I would like the photos page to remain static but when people click 'next' or 'back' a new photo appears - or slides in, in place of the current.
    Any help appreciated.

I just checked and it wasn't iPhoto 8 so maybe it was an earlier version of 9.

  • Photo File Sizes & Formats in iPhoto 6

I have iPhoto 4. I tried importing 3 files of 270 MB each. iPhoto imported one, but choked on the other two. I then tried importing one of the "rejects," but the result was the same. I read, somewhere, that iPhoto can't handle file sizes of more than 20MB. Is this true of iP 6?
Also, I've read that iP can only manage .jpg files. The 3 files I tried to import are .tif files. So, can iP 6 manage .tif files?
I'm unhappy with iPhoto's automatic organization features & other issues & thought of upgrading to iP 6, but if it can't handle those file sizes & .tif, at least, I need to look for another image manager.

    Alexandra:
iPhoto 6 now has the option, in it's Advanced Preferences pane, of not copying files into its library folder but only using alias files, small files that point to the location of the original files. I've created several Tutorials to assist users in converting over to an alias based library.
Moving the library to an alternate volume is very easy to do. Just copy it intact to that volume, making sure ownership and permissions are correct on the volume, and the launch iPhoto with the Option key depressed. You'll then be given an option to create a new library or find the current one. Navigate to the new volume and select the moved library. Once you're sure it's working correctly you can delete the one in your User/Pictures folder.
The alias system lets a PB user put the source files on an external volume and operate normally. If the PB goes traveling then you will be limited to viewing just the thumbnails up to a certain size, adding comments and keywords (with the Command-I info pane), creating and moving albums. You won't be able to edit, view slideshows, move photos to albums, etc. Any photo you've edited while the volume was mounted will be viewable in full with the volume unmounted as the edited version is saved in full in the library on the PB.
iPhoto is compatible with tiff, psd, gif, jpg, .mov video files, png, bmp, and more.
To save a photo to another format you will have to export out of iPhoto. Any keywords added in iPhoto will not go with it as they are written to a data file and not the file itself. Most of the EXIF data from a camera is saved, at least when converted to a tiff file. This ISO speed and lens data is lost. Conversion to png format does lose all of the EXIF data.

  • I have upgraded from 7 to 11 photoshop and am trying to organize photo in calendar format. How?

I have upgraded from photoshop 7 to 11 and am trying to format the photos in calendar format as I did in the 7 version and can not figure out how. ?

A lot of things changed with Elements 11, including the available display views. There is no longer a calendar view like in Elements 10 and before. The closest available is to go to the Events page (click Events in the top bar), and then switch from Events to Smart Events (just below the top bar). This will group all of your images into the day on which they were shot. However, it doesn't separated them on a calendar and leave you the blank spaces where no images were taken.

  • Automatically import a series of photos to make an album in Keynote '09

Powerpoint used to have a function where you could select a series of photos to be automatically imported into a presentation, placing one photo per slide.
Does Keynote have similar functionality to automate the process?

Yes it does -- make sure that Keynote is in Navigator view (with the slide thumbnails on the left column). In the Finder, select all the photos you want, then drag them to the thumbnail column, and a new slide will be created for each image.

  • When using the crop button in my photos, my ipod shuts off on me. What's going on?

I wnated to crop one of my photos. When I go to select the tool, my screen flashes white then it shuts off completely. Can someone please tell me what's going on and how to fix it?

I do not want to delete these photos. I cannot sync these photos to my laptop either because I am a student borrowing the laptop for the school year.
