Cropping and NOT losing pixelation on vid

Hey all... I've seen this question around but haven't exactly figured it out.
I have a VHS->.mov file I added and modified in my iMovie project. All went well except for the file pixelation. Obviously not all VHS files are going to be 'pixel perfect' and I accept that, but it's a heck of alot better than the depixelation that's happening when I crop the video. I currently have it set at widescreen (16:9), Initial Photo Placement (Ken Burns) and Initial Video Placement (Crop). Is this where I'm supposed to have it set?
How can I crop the videoclip without it blowing up and losing pixel quality OR adding/overlaying some sort of image (much like a digital photo frame around your camphone pics) so that the video pixels aren't compromised?
PLEASE... I hate to see posts go unanswered. I see alot of those regarding certain questions asked by fellow Mac users.

I don't have devices for converting. I had a company do it for me. I checked out the link you provided. It's pretty much the same quality, again, no big. I wanted to hide the date and time that normally displays on the bottom of a VHS home movie.
Choosing Fit doesn't lose much quality, but again, I want to crop the clip omitting the time and date. If I do choose to Crop, I get the clip cropped where I set it but then fills in the screen by blowing it up, making it look like zooming in on a small jpg/gif file & ultimately depixelizing like mad..
I also noticed the best vid quality (when I choose Share...Media Browser to later use in iDVD) is making it a Medium size, even though it loses some quality there as well.. make sense?

Reinstalling itunes and not losing information about my music

I getting ready to reformat my hard drive and all of my music is backed up on an external hard drive. I am concerned that when i reinstall itunes on my "clean" hard drive and import all of my music, i will lose data- specifically "date added" . Is there any way to insure that I will not lose this information when i reload??

My ipod died and so i plugged it in. when i took it out the screen said to connect to itunes. so i connected it to my computer and it says to restore my ipod. can i do that without losing any of my music or apps?

Consolidating and "up-res"ing Anamorphic SD footage, and not losing aspect

O.K, I tried a forum search but could not find the answers, so here goes:
I have been working on a DVCAM project in FCP, and everything was captured DVPAL, and is Anamorphic.
All is well in the edit is finished.
So I wanted to up-res the project to uncompressed 10 bit (or possibly Prores to save disk space as I don't think my two disk raid will be fast enough to play uncompressed) for the final online so that I have more color space and GFX will look nicer; mastering to Digibeta via SDI.
I have a Blackmagic HD Extreme card installed.
I believed the proper way to consolidate and up-res at the same time would be to use Media Manager.
I selected my sequences (still in parts as I will put them together in the final layout).
Open Media manager.
Select 'Recompress'
Select 'Blackmagic PAL -10 Bit'
Then select 'Delete unsed media..."
and tick 'Use Handles'
Make a new folder for it to go to,
tick 'duplicate selected items and place in a new project'.
It starts to process audio and video,
and opens a new project.
But the new project is 4:3 and has the black bars.
When I open the media it also has bars top and bottom.
When that failed I unticked the anamorphic option in the bin.
did the same Media manager set up.
Then the new project/sequence has black on the sides!
Is my only option to use Media manager to copy and consolidate (use handles to remove media),
then use the mighty Compressor to up-res the media,
and re-link the new project to the new up-res media?
Help me Obiwan Kenobi, your my only hope .....

O.K, so I have done the consolidation,
then set compressor to up-res the footage,
Opened the new Project,
relink to the new Pro-res footage.
Change sequence settings,
start grade and final GFX.
Any suggestions on work flow for these kinds of projects.

Syncing multiple ipod touches with sync cart and not losing apps

hello!
I have inherited a apple sync cart with 2 drawers of touches for use in grades k-5. They have not all been synced using the cart (why? I don't know). I would like to sync them all and merge the apps. Is this possible? Some of the teachers have downloaded some great apps that I'd hate to lose. Many of them are free but some were paid.
We sync using a macbook. Thank you.

You can e-mail them to yourself - one at a time. They will not be of the original quality.
You really should back up info/music/pics as hard drives can and do fail.

Connecting Ipod once synced with a PC to my Mac and not losing my songs!?

I want to connect my Ipod (which I put all of the songs on from an Itunes on a PC) to my Mac but I am afraid that as soon as I hook it up, my current Itunes (on my new Mac) will delete all the songs!
I need to know:
a) how to get all my Ipod songs onto my Itunes library on the Mac (without them being deleted of course!) and
b) how to change the configuration either before or after that step! (From a PC to a Mac!)

1) Use your backup copy of your music and put the music onto your Mac, or use home share, or dvd's, external drive, flash drive,etc to move the music from the old computer to the new one.
You can see if this allows you to do it with the ipod, but I would just use my backup.

First, create a separate login on your computer for your friend. Do this BEFORE you do anything else. Next, make sure iTunes is up to date. Then:
1. Disable auto sync when an iPod/iPhone is connected under Preferences>Devices in iTunes.
2. Make sure you have one contact & one event in the supported applications(Address Book, iCal) on your computer. These entries can be fake, doesn't matter, the important point is that these programs not be empty.
3. Connect her phone, iTunes running, do not sync at this point.
4. Store>Authorize this computer.
5. File>Transfer Purchases(To make sure all purchased content on her phone will be in her itunes library).
6. Right click in the device pane & select reset warnings.
7. Right click again and select backup.
8. Right click again & select restore from backup, select the backup you just made. When prompted to create another backup, decline.
9. This MUST be followed by a sync to restore her itunes content, which you select from the various tabs, You'll get a popup regarding her contacts & calendars asking to merge or replace, select merge.
You should be good to go.

PSE 11 editor has stopped importing from scanner, no longer permits drag and drop, will not permit cropping, and other bizarre issues

I am having a number of issues including loss of import functionality from scanner, I can't drag and drop photos into the editor any more as well, or at least not after the first one. The crop function stops working after the first couple of photos. Then some freezing. A little added crashing. A plethora of other bizarre issues as well. This just stated happening a couple of days ago.
What I have tried:
Uninstall/Install.
Deleted preferences both before opening Editor (crontrol-alt-delete) and after opening it.

OK! Check it, like I said in previous posts I seemed to have narrowed it down to specific mp3s not converting and playing in their native sample rate which if paired with another sample would give you the "audio midi sync" error and basically screw up your clock! It appears mp3 files converting to mp3 using iTunes would not convert to the correct sample rate if set to something other than 44 in logic and cause this. A tad peculiar Apple iTunes won't work with Apple Logic. I was able to confirm this on two mac's via my friend in Florida. He's running Tiger and tried the same experiment and Booya! Mickey Mouse! It appears this insane week long adventure has came to an end (...god willing) with a super specific unlucky shot in the dark on my part finally revealed to be an perfectly normal function of Logic (obviously one i'm not fond of..) As far as the errors / crashes / system overloads / kernal panics I think I can sort those out to the mackie onyx satellite not being a good choice and trying to add and remove firewire devices in the middle of the sample rate mayhem. Wow! all I can say is, I'm glad it's over

Saving a PDF crops to artwork and not the artboard

I have read a few posts on the web regarding this issue and was wondering if anybody here has a solution.
Since upgrading to CC, when saving our PDFs they now crop to the boundaries of the artwork and not to the artbord like in previous versions. I work in a PDF enviroment and we have a program that relies heavily on XMP data - one of which is the X and Y co-ordinates of the artwork in relation to the top-left corner of the artboard, however now, when artwork goes outside of the artboard or doesn't fill the artboard, the resulting PDF crops to the artwork thus changing the X and Y co-ordinates of where artwork is positioned on the page.
Is this a bug that is likely to be fixed or has a feature changed that I don't know about.

This is in Illustrator CC Version 17. It is fine when you open them back in Illustrator. I have also noticed that from Illustrator if you do a 'Save As', select PDF, then select one of the PDF presets (I use 'Press Quality) the resulting PDF when opened in Reader displays how I want it, with the artwork as it was positioned on the Illustrator artboard (not cropped). If I then open in Illustrator again, make a change to the artwork, and select 'Save' (not 'Save As') when opened back in Reader the file is cropped again.

I cannot seem to figure out how to export the pictures I have worked on. I create a collection and when I export them they go to "my pictures" as the originals --NOT the cropped and edited versions. Help!!!

How to export you pictures after they have been edited?

Are you sure you are looking at the exported photos and not the original photos, when you say you don't see the cropping and editing?
If so, then you are probably exporting with Image Format set to "Original" and you probably want to set it to JPG or TIF

How do i get my iPod vid to play videos continuously and not one by one plz

Hi, can someone please advise how do i get the iPod to play the videos one after the other like when playing songs. I have tried going into video settings but it does not help. I did manage to get it on cont. play once last week sometime but i think this was a fluke and i cant remember what i did. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks D

If you create a video playlist in iTunes, add a few
videos to it then transfer that to your iPod, then
when you access the video playlist on your iPod it
should play all the videos one after the other.

I had a similar problem, and i found that the photo was of very low resoluton. As a test I resized the image to a lrager resolution using photoshop CS4 and re saved it as JPG. I imported the new saved image and it seem to have fixed the problem.

CS5 Crop will start and not finish

I'm working with photoshop Cs5 on a windows 7 platform. I am trying to crop a 151kb image but photoshop is freezing up. It starts the crop and never finishes (just looks like its loading). Does anyone know what to do? I have to have photoshop for work and the customer support will not help me because its a Cs5 version.

What image? If the internal data sructure of the image is damaged, such operations may fail. Otherwise this could be a normal PS issue with running out of memory or disk access problems, but you have not provided nearly enough info on that.

Iphone and ipod losing sync with shared itunes library - home sharing not working

I hope this can help some people who have had problems with syncing their IOS devices to their shared itunes library.
Having had a lot of trouble with syncing and sharing my itunes libraries from two PC's to an iphone 4 and 4S via "itunes home sharing", I decided to try and find a solution using typical search engine search phrases. I found a number of issues similar to mine that pointed toward local network protocols such as media serving, and the ability or lack of ability to use these protocols by DSL routers.
My solution was simple, change the DSL router. My ISP supplied DSL router was the problem, not being able to identify that the PC's hosting my itunes libraries become media servers when itunes home sharing is switched on. My DSL box is a Tesco Broadband branded/firmware Thomson TG580. As a test I tried out a box from my previous supplier, an O2 branded/firmware Thomson/Technicolor TG582n. Although this wont work with my ISP connection, it will work as a wirless/wired router. As soon as I connected this all together, it worked first time without any hassle. I was mirroring my shared HD videos via the itunes home shared library to my 4S perfectly.
I know this may not help most people, but if you have the chance to test another wireless router, give it a go. Having had a good look, I can't find an Apple compatibility list. Maybe this is something they could do, or maybe someone can point out a site that may have this info?
I am by no means an Apple Fanboy, but I have to say that a lot of the complaints about the home sharing between itunes, ipods, iphones, Apple TV etc. may simply be the router and not itunes or the IOS devices.
My setup is PC's running the latest itunes with Win 7 32 & 64 bit and my IOS devices on 6, I also tested an iphone 4 on IOS 5 that worked perfectly. My 4S is now a perfect HDMI media player/streamer for my itunes music and videos encoded to H.264 using Handbrake.

Assuimg you have the latest ATV firmware, at the bottom of the general settings menu on your apple TV there is an option to reset your apple TV. Try that and then reset it up back on your network.
Before testing ensure the correct time/date/nearest City is setup in the ATV settings and re-enter your apple ID/password and turn on home sharing. You can connect to your network either via wifi or cable and see if it then works.
Resetting the ATV and then checking and re-entering all my settings worked for me.
I guess if not, then the next step is to disable any firewall on your PC and see if that works after the PC is rebooted.

The trial version of Adobe photoshop 13 does not have the Crop And Straighten Photos option under file and automate....... all it has is "Fit Image"....... would really like to have that feature.... is it something they eliminated?

I am scanning in many old photos and there are several photos on one page.... I read about a feature that was suppose to be available under adobe photo shop elements 13 that would allow multiple cropping under the file, automate, Crop And Straighten Photos....... the only thing that displays on the version 13 that I have is "Fit Image"...... which doesn't help me...... have they removed this tool or do you have to crop and save one image at a time?
