Cropping Question

When I import a WMV video, I know how to crop the video but
here's the difference for me this time - I only need to crop the
first few seconds of video. Is there a way I can crop only a
portion of the incoming video? I'm using Flash Pro 8. Thanks very
much.

You'd have to split your WMV into two different movies before
import. I don't remember the names of that type of utility
off-hand, but I quick google search should yield some results.

  • PDF cropping question

I posted this question in the Illustrator Forum too, but thought it might be worthwile to see if anyone here had any ideas. I have a few hundred PDF files that I created in Illustrator. The Illustrator document size on all of these is 8.5 x 11, but on each file I created a smaller crop area to the artwork. These files crop to the crop area on their image previews and when I open them in Acrobat, but for some reason, they are coming in at the full document size for the programmers that are working with them. I need a way to either automatically reset the Illustrator document size to the crop area, or possibly to process it in Acrobat and remove the document size. I don't want to run it through Photoshop, because we want to keep the vector data, and our tests worked better with Illustrator PDFs then Photoshop.

The problem is not the files, Acrobat, nor Illustrator. The crop used is a non-destructive crop. The entire pdf exists. Your programmers must learn how to determine the crop box and use that information.

  • CS4 cropping question

    Hello, I'm new here.
I just got Photoshop CS4 (Design Suite Standard) last week after having used Elements (2, then 3) for the last five years.
In Elements, when you use the crop tool, you can move the entire frame around by clicking on the dot in the center and moving it.
It seems that in CS4, when I attempt to move the frame, only the center dot moves without moving the frame lines.  I looked through the PDF manual, but couldn't find any explanation how to change this.
Thanks in advance for your assistance ... I'll likely be back with more questions as I try to learn how to use CS4.
    Ron

    Thanks Zeno!  That's the answer.
Just goes to prove ... you may never be too old to learn new tricks ... it just takes longer.

  • Iphoto - Zoom and crop question.

I have seem this question asked but I am still unable to execute this process.
I zoomed on a photo on iphoto to send via email and when I went to crop it (as in save the zoom for that photo), it always reverted back to the original size.
    Help would be greatly appreciated.
    Alan.

    Sorry I don't think I explained properly.
I just want to zoom into a picture of two faces in the photo, close up and then send it.
I have tried numerous times with no success.
    Thanks

  • Cs6 crop question , not classic

    Hi
i have a question about photoshop cs6 crop tool not classic
i really  like the not classic crop tool
    but i have a problem
the classic crop tool if i drag it to left photoshop moves the crop to the left , and if i drag to the right it moves to the right
but in the new version if i drag it to the left  it moves to the right
    ok ,it's just like lightroom
i tried to get used to the new behavior with no luck
is there a way , edit the registry or other way to change this behavior?
i mean i really love the new crop feature , i would love to use it and drag the crop to left and see photoshop moves to the left just like every other version of photoshop
    thanks
    best regards

If I understand what you're saying, what is confusing to you is that when you drag, you are moving the image itself underneath the selection, as opposed to moving the selection over the image.  Drag to the left and you're moving the image to the left under the selection, so the selection remains stationary in its position relating to the window, but the selection is now positioned to the right of its original position relative to the image.
    That's just the new behavior.
However, if instead of dragging from the somewhere inside your selection, you drag from one of the handles of the selection, the direction of the stretching of your selection will appear more like what yiu are used to, particularly if you are set to Fit Image on Screen.
If you play around with that a bit, you'll get the hang of itin no time.

Aaaaah, that is where your problem lies!
You either like the new Crop Tool, or you like the old, Classic mode.  You can't have a little bit of one and another little bit of the other one.

  • IPhoto 6 cropping question

How do I crop a picture in iPhoto 6 and keep the picture the same size as it is now. It gives all kinds of options such as 4 x 6, 8 x 10, display? Thanks for your help.

In the edit view there is a section called 'constrain' with a drop down menu below it. If you select the drop down menu the top item should say 'NONE' and you can use that. Then, by clicking and dragging inside the photo, you can match the current aspect ratio or alter it to whatever you feel looks the best. Then click on crop and your photo is now cropped!!

  • Photoshop Elements 6 -cropping question

Hi,  I've been using it with no problem until this week.  Whenever I crop a photo (doesn't matter the original photo size is, or to what size I crop), the resulting image comes out miniscule.  I'm sure I unknowingly change some setting on the tool bar.  Any help would be great.  Thanks!

At the far left of the options bar there's a tiny almost invisible triangle. Click it and choose Reset Tool.

  • CS6 artboard size crop question

I'm in CS6 and have an .ai file that I need to first crop to 1200 x 600. I do not know the size / dimensions of the .ai , where can I find?
inside the artboard I select the Artboard tool and I first need to crop the image to the same size  the black dashes are within the red solid line.
I would normally just go to save for web and set the new size there but I need to save this cropped file as a layered pdf. I know hwo to do that but I need to know how to find the current size of the .ai file, then crop it down.
    anyone?

    Hi mentlity,
Here are some photos to help you follow the instructions provided above.
    1) Right click on the ruler on edges of the Illustrator window. If rulers aren't there, hit command R. A window will open with different units to select from.
    2) Click on the Canvas tool in the toolbar.
    3) At the top of the application window you'll see spaces to set the width and height of your canvas. Simply enter 1200 and 600 and you should be good to go.
I hope you solve your issue!

  • CS6 crop question

In cs5 I could have my crop box outside my image border and it would crop only the image without adding negative space, has this been removed? Or is there a  setting in CS6?

Using the Crop Tool in that manner expands the canvas accounting for the white space.
You may want to use the Marquee Tool to select the area you want to crop and use the Image > Crop command.

  • PS CS5 Cropping Question

Hey everyone. I am using CS5 and I have a client that wants some 8x10 and 11x14 prints from photo like this. Im shooting with the Nikon D750 so it shoots at 24 megapixels. How I do obtain those ratios? WHen I try to crop them I cannot get the whole photo in the crop. Thanks
    Eddie

You must have taken a few speeding courses too many.  Geez…
As far as the crop tool goes, set it to 10 x 8 (not 8x10) and leave the resolution fields empty.
I will not rehash what I've typed above.
Lastly, forgetting the crop tool for a second, go to the Image menu, > Image Size …  .  Uncheck the Constrain Proportions box and the Resample Image box, then choose your parameters.  You can move the crop marquee as desired to choose what part of this image gets chopped off and be left with 10x8 image.  Chopping off a substantial part of your image is exactly what is meant by "losing pixels".
Either the image will be distorted (A), or a chunk of the image will be cut off.
Stop trying to fight this already.
A: You cannot "unconstrain" an image without squeezing it, distorting it.
This is your image squeezed into a 10x8 canvas, "unconstrained":
    Laws of physics.
Either one of the two examples I've shown you, or you crop the d@mned thing.  Sorry.

  • Cropping question: image window disappears

Lately, when click after cropping an image in CS5 the image window disappears.
    Rashid Arshed

You probably have some values entered in the width, height or resolution fields.
With the crop tool selected, either click on the Clear button or right click on the Crop icon in the tool options bar and select Reset Tool.

  • Cropping question in Lightroom

    Hello,
After cropping in lightroom, say a 5x7 Ill open it in Photoshop. I just noticed when I check the image size it isnt 5x7. Ive tried this a bunch of times now, and can never get the image sizes to match from Lightroom to Photoshop
    Thanks MG

I have the same problem as reported above. In the past I could simply annotate in the Export window the size. Currently it does not convert from WxH@72dpi to WxH@300dpi. I have checked & unchecked "Don't Enlarge" etc. Must be a simple setting but I am stuck. I want standard print size dimensions 8x10 at 300dpi vice 33x72 inches @72. Must be a simple switch I inadvertently must have changed something. Any ideas?

  • Rotating and Cropping Question ??

Sometimes I have to straighten up a photo by rotating it like .1 degrees, and then when I try to crop the little sliver off the side it is a pain to get the crop marks just right. I there an easy way to crop out the new image while keeping as much of it as possible?
    I hope this makes sense.
    Thank you.
    Dan

    what Buko says,
but you can crop+rotate+change resolution up-sampling (adding more pixels) with no problem.
But crop+rotate+change resolution down-sampling (reducing the number of pixels) you can get some pretty bad image distortion.

  • Crop question

Folks...in cs6 how to crop and simply crop the image a la what was had in cs5?
I want to do a straight simple crop and end up with the cropped image (no crop box borders) only.
    How to do this?
    Thanks for any assist.
    Jordan

I see a lot of compliants on the crop tool for CS6, and perhaps I am not critical enought (although my wife would disagree with that).  But I have been jumping back and for between CS5 and CS6 and cropping an image and noticed one difference.
In CS5 when cropped as I described in post #4 the cropped image forms a smaller image bounded with the PS borders.  If one clicks Open the canvas pops back to original size.  Then other crops behave the same.
In CS6 if you crop the image as it opens in a document window, and crop without resizing it acts the same as CS5.  However, once you click on Open to cancel crop then sucessive crops show the cropped image in the larger canvas.  Also, if you open the image in tabbed view and crop the cropped image is in the center of the larger canvas, and not bounded by the PS borders.
Not sure what good this does, as most users with resize the opened window before cropping, and many use the tabbed version.  Not sure if there is any setting that would change this.
Hope this description of what I did not not too confusing to describe.  Best to try it if interested and see for yourself if you get same results.
