Dear Guru,
I am not an expert in HCM Module.
I would like someone to kindly do me a favour in explaining the diffent between CATS and Time Manager's Workplace.
The main objective is to select the right tool for implementing Time Sheet User Interface for "Incentive Wage/Piece Work Payroll Scheme".
Please kindly give me some light.

MSS Time sheet appearing to reporting Manager and Unit Head

Hello Experts,
We are implementing MSS in project and we are facing a problem:
- We have Org structure
Unit Head (chief Position)
^
Asst Manager (not a chief postion) reports to Unit Head
^
Associates (not a chief postion) reports to Asst manager
Now when employees goes and submits his time sheet it appears correctly to Asst Manager in MSS Time sheet Approval by Line Manager.
Now the problem is that Associate's time sheet is also appearing to Unit Head. Incase Unit head selects it and approve, it will get approved which is incorrect. The Associates time sheet should only appear to Asst Manager not to Unit Head.
Please help us how we can resolve this problem.

As per your scenrio time sheet approval only for one level only. In workflow try to use logic A002 relation ship (Reports to). That means employees reporting manager.
Discuss the same with your workflow consultant they will help you. Whoever is submit time sheet & it will go to employee line manager using A002 Relation ship.

How to add customized column in the time sheet CATS (transaction CAT2) ?

I need to be able to add some columns in the time sheet CAT2 containing:
- the name and first name of the person (in addition of the number), in display mode in the CATS time sheet.
- a text that I will found by reading some tables and values...
Does anyone have any idea how to do so ? and if it's possible or not?

Thanks a lot, it's really help...don't know why I didn't see this customized point before in SPRO.
But I have an other issue, my new fields is added in the CATS screen and now I'm trying to put default value by using the user exit of extension CATS0009.
When I complete the value of my new fields in structure CATSD_IMP, there are not taking into account and the CATS screen doesn't display the value.
Am I using the wrong table ? wrong user-exit ? or my code ..

The time recording process using CATS notebook is structured as follows:
1. The employee calls up CATS notebook.
2. The employee selects the period for which he or she wants to record working times.
3. If required, the employee selects working time attributes [Ext.] from the picklist or enters
them manually.
4. The employee enters the hours worked.
5. The employee saves the data.
6. CATS notebook checks the data entered and issues warning or error messages if
required.
7. The employee releases individual data records or all records.

SAP HR - Time sheet CATA

Hi All,
I have a query related to transfer of time to HR.
We have scheduled a daily job for transferring time to HR (program: CATSTAL).
Whenever the payroll runs (which happens every months for 2-4 days), the transfer of time to HR is unsuccessful and the log displays error.
This way every month few time records are not updated to HR and have to be identified and CATA has to be re-run for these entries.
Can anyone please suggest a possible way for overcoming this issue?

Hello Kanika.
The likely cause of the errors would related to the status of the Control Record in PA30 - if the record has been released for payroll, the CATA cannot transfer hours to HR.
The most obvious fix to this would be to stop nightly CATA run while the payroll is in Release mode. If the CATA does not run, then all records will be picked up on the next run, so none will be missed. I presume you are running the CATA for a wide time window, i.e. up to 3 months into the past.

Approve time sheets UI5_HCM_TSA not loading

Hi Experts,
I am finding an issue with Fiori app for approving time sheets UI5_HCM_TSA . We are able to create working time requests correctly form Fiori.
But from launch page if we click on Approve time sheet chip it is showing a blank screen like attachment.Same error when we launch from SICF also. Remaining apps like travel expense,leave approval etc are working fine. I have assigned needed roles for time sheet from installation manual.
Applied note 0001967726 by reading threads.But still issue remains as attached image.The approval is working fine from NWBC and back end.
Is there any special config needed time sheet (CATS) approval from Fiori.

Query on CATS (Cross Application Time Sheets)

Need help on below scenario,
I have charged time to an activity in a network. CAT5 has not been done. By mistake I delete the activity from the network for which I already charged time. After this when I went to my time sheet, against that particular activity number I am getting ****. I am not able to edit or delete the entry pertaining to ****.
Can anyone please advice what I should do to correct my time sheet.

now i can give you one example for CATS.
The following things are required to explain it.
1. Punch card machine
2. SQL Server.
3. SAP Server
4. RFC program.
Now if an employee punch his card it will going to store in SQL server .
Now RFC program is needed to fetch the data from SQL server to SAP server to It 2011 for the calculation.
Rptime.
From 2011 - B2 cluster .
B2 (ZL )cluster to Payroll.
This process is just an small example of CATS.
now after this interactive session .

I think maintaining suitable Data Entry Profile will solve your problem. Take help from HR consultant.
SPRO->Cross Application Component->Timesheet->Specific Settings for CATS Classic->Setup Data Entry Profiles.

Report to Verify Pending Aproval of Time sheet on CATS

Hi Experts,
Earlier Manager has faced some problem in approving Time sheet because of some missing authorizations, we have fixed that now we have to verify if he has any time sheets still pending for his approval.
We use Cats Applicatiosn, all the employees has to fill the time sheet and it will be sent to managers appoval this is built on CATS application.
Is there any report i can run in SAP to find out how many employees time sheet is pending for particular manager approval.

One of the ways is to approve the time sheets viz MSS where in Manager will be able to see which all personnel time sheets are pending for approval.

CATA: Time sheet: Transfer to target componets

Could you please please give me an overview of what CATA (t-code) does?
I have done some config in sandbox:
I booked time in cat2 with a sender cost ctr + activity type and receiver cost center in ECC 6.0. With out running cata (t-code), I was able to see the actuals in cost center actual line item report and PS.
I did not understand what was the purpose of CATA ?

However, I am not sure but, I don't thinks so, because even I am workinng in ECC6.0, I don't belive that this kind of development sap will do in any near future EHP or version. Please let me know you are on which EPH in ECC6.0
Because than there is no point of approval Functionality or T code - CAT4. It is one of the most required functionality of Any type of Time sheet.
There is some thing wrong. Can you double check and try to replicate the same in More reliable environment Quality.
This is not at all std. SAP behavior. Doe some analysis in in CJi3 with whose id actual cost got posted etc.

If you have defined activity types then you can define them with the right price in KP27 for each costcenter.
the costcenter is connected with the personelnumber.. in infotype 315 you can define which is the default activitytype for each person.
if you have only 1 activitytype you can also programm the user exit to fill it in by default
see EXIT_SAPLCATS_002 to implement a fixed activitytype for whole cats

Hi
Create a profile in CAC1 and setup the profile settings in CAC2.
What you select in CAC2 appears in CAT2 sheet.
The CATS config is self explanatory.

Integrate project open (third party tool for time sheet management) in EP

Hello Experts,
I have third party tool for time sheet management (Project Open) and EP7.0 SP17. I tried to integrate third party tool with portal by using the App integrator. But it is not working properly. Again and again its asking authentication. I followed same steps to integrate this tool by using App integrator in portal.
we filled the system properties Server name is projects.company.local and Web Application URL is /intranet/.
What i made mistakes in this, please help me.
