Cross Country Installation

I live in South Africa, can I purchase and download Adobe Photoshop CS6 on Newegg (USA)?  Will the licence work because I am in a different country?

thanks so much

  • Moving cross country with a Mac Pro

I have a Mac Pro and am relocating cross country. Both the Mac Pro and the monitor must go with the movers. I do have the original boxes and certainly will pack in them but I'm wondering if it makes any sense at all to remove the hard drives from the computer and take them with me in the car. Is this a sensible idea or are they better protected in their nice hard shell in the box with the original packing?
    Thanks

Let me ask the backup question in a way that is clearer....
What I have now is 2 internal HDs. I use one for data, applications etc and one solely for Time Machine backup. Additionally, I have an external HD solely for working originals of my photography. Changes to the photos are backed up in Time Machine and go to the Time Machine backup drive. So, for all that's on Time Machine I have a reasonably good source of originals as well as changed and updated data.
Now I'm relocating and want to try to both be practical and cost efficient. I'm afraid of simply shipping my Mac Pro (even properly re-boxed in its original carton and styrofoam) especially since my Time Machine back up is on a drive in that same machine. (I will take the external drive with me in the car, but---since we travel with 4 dogs---space in the van is at a premium and I can't take the entire Mac Pro).
So, what to do?? My inclination is to use an offsite backup service rather than buying another external drive, downloading to it and carrying it with me. It seems to me that backing up absolutely everything off-site, with a service such as Backblaze should work and save some much needed room in the car. Thoughts? Thanks! S

  • Cross Country Transfer

    Hi Gurus,
Query relating to Cross Country Transfer. Can anyone enlighten how to perform Cross Country Transfer Action in Sap R/3? I am aware that a Central person Record needs to be created in HRP 1001 but how to go-ahead in-relation to performing Cross Country Transfer action in PA40 and assigning 2 personal numbers to an individual.
Any assistance is highly appreciable and it will be suitably rewarded.
    Regards,
    Garima

    Hi Garima,
Procedure for maintaining global employment is as follows :
    Creating Global Assignments
In this step, you store all the key information with regard to a global assignment.
    Procedure :
           1.      Execute the relevant personnel action or choose Human Resources > Personnel Management > Administration > HR Master Data > Maintain.
           2.      If you have chosen to maintain the infotype manually, enter the global employee’s personnel number and choose infotype Global Assignment Details (0710).
           3.      Click Create.
           4.      Enter the data with regard to the global assignment and check their consistency. Note that the system automatically determines the end date of the assignment on the basis of the duration you have entered.
           5.      Enter the applicable employment percentage in the host country.
           6.      Enter the current personnel number the global employee is assigned to in the host country. For more information on how to use these fields, see the F1 documentation.
           7.      Click Save.
Or for further queries you may refer to following link, as it will help u a lot :

One more thing, in order to create person-ID (0709 INFTY) you have to maintain certain settings for your system, or else their is one function module, i don't remeber the exact name, once i get to recall will post you soon.
Hope this sorts out your problem,
In case need more help, plz do reply.

  • Cross-platform installs or upgrades

If I understand the license agreement correctly (and correct
me if I'm wrong), I'm able to install my copy of DW (and the rest
of the Suite) on both my PC and on my laptop, provided I don't use
them both at the same time. That's also provided that both my PC
and my laptop are on the same platform. I have a Windows PC and a
Mac laptop, so I'm out of luck. It seems a little unfair, and I
know there must be some kind of anti-piracy thing that they don't
allow this, but is there any consideration for changing this so us
legitimate users can do cross-platform installs without having to
purchase a second copy of the suite?

Your understanding of the licence agreement is correct. The
    question of
a dual platform licence is raised in this forum on a regular
    basis
because many indpendent developers are in the same situation.
    However,
the answer is no - the licence is for one operating system
    only.
At the moment, the Studio 8 CD-ROM contains both Mac and
    Windows
versions, but I suspect that this may not always be the case.
    Adobe
software is sold on separate disks.
I raised the question of dual licensing with an Adobe
    executive at Adobe
Live in London a few months ago. He was sympathetic to the
    problems of
an individual developer, but from the business point of view
    the
situation was clear. It costs twice as much to create
    programs for both
Windows and OS X, so if you want to use it on both systems,
    you must
contribute towards both sets of development costs.
If you need to run the Windows version on your Mac, you can
    always use
Virtual PC or one of the dual boot methods.

  • Country installation program

Is it mandatroy to run country installation program while creating a new company code?
e.g. I have to create new comapny code for a US company. This is new system. Do I have to mandatorily run country installation program or can I just copy company code from US01 which is country template for US co code. What will happen if I do that, meaning not run the country installation program and copy co code from the US template co code.
I do not want to run the country template unless it is a must. Pl advice.
    Thanks

I receive the same error when I run country version China. Does anyone have any idea what the missing key is and how to correct the error?

  • Serbia country installation

    Hi experts,
We would like to implement FI-AA module in our serbian subsidiary and are looking for the serbian country installation package. Is there one?
There seems to be no general info on sap.help.com and on Globalization pages.
But one of the documents (RS_Country_Template_30_04_2011) we found are referencing to a standard Chart of Depreciation "0RS", Depreciation areas and other settings in the system which we do not have in our SAP (ECC 6.0 EhP4).
So, how do we get these standard settings for Serbia into our system?
    Thanks a lot!

    Hi,
please have a look at SAP note 620296.
Functionality for Serbia is part of the CEE Add-On (see e.g. SAP note 520991).

  • Yet another cross-country store purchase question...

Right, so http://store.apple.com/us/help/gifting says that you CAN send gifts to some specific "other countries" from the U.S. Store.
All the threads that I read on this forum regarding cross-border gifting just end with "it is not possible, sorry, too bad for you" etc. Yet the gifting page specifically states it is possible within the context of specific countries.
It also says you have to purchase within the specific country store. That makes sense, I want to gift an app to someone in Indonesia, so I should go into iTunes, switch to Indonesia store, and purchase the app, hence no cross-border BS on different stores.
The problem is that once I click on "purchase" "gifting an app" or whatever to try to buy the thing in the Indonesia iTunes store, it ask for Apple ID log-in. Which immediately kicks me out of the country store (in this case Indonesia) and back to the U.S. Store.
And nothing I can find in the U.S. Store that says anything about international gifting to those countries specified in that gifting advisory page.
So has anyone figured out how in blazes to gift to those countries stated in the "Gifting outside of the U.S." advisory? I'd like a step by step walkthrough on how to do this if anyone has a clue, because otherwise that advisory is sure as **** misleading, confusing and unhelpful.

The page you linked to refers to the online Apple Store, which sells Macs, Mac accessories, and Mac OS X software. It doesn't apply to the iTunes Store, which sells music, videos, books, and iOS software.

  • Re: Java Media Framework cross platform installation / setup on Mac / UNIX

JMF cross-platform doesn't support everything that the native performance pack versions support. I found this out the hard way too because pure Java JMF can't play AVI's from my digital camera but the Win32 enhanced JMF can. In particular, with my case pure Java JMF doesn't support all the frame rates that the others do.
I know Apple has been releasing some of the other APIs lately, like JAI. We might want to check over at apple.com and see if they have a native JMF impl.

    Hi,
JMF work well on OS(32bits) and Java(32bits)
    Octavian.

  • Transactional replication cross-country - where should distributor go?

    Hi All,
SQL Server 2005 standard edition using transactional replication from Montreal to Vancouver.
Our current distributor is region-based, so it is within our data centre in Toronto. So basically it goes MTL--> TO -> VAN.
However, i'm thinking that the extra step to TO is unnecessary because its in another physical location and the extra hope/latency from MTL-->TO before going to VAN adds overhead..
I know that a separate distributor is best practice but in this case, 3 physical locations, each with ~50ms latency between each one, is it better to have the publisher and distributor on the same server (in MTL) and then just go directly to the subscriber
(VAN)? We don't have enough resource within MTL to build a separate distributor there so it would go on the same server as publisher.
DB size is 135 MB, all tables synchronizing.
Thanks in advance for any input.

The network hop is normally insignificant when replicating locally, but it can be an issue when replicating across a WAN. IT should be local not only to factor out the network latency but also to simplify your recovery and DR plans.
A remote distributor is required when you have high cpu issues on your publisher. If you don't have this or your workload is not characterized by high cpu you will be able to get away with a local distributor.

  • Current employer wants 90 days notice, and I have an Interview cross country.

We have a colocated server rack with a local data center and use their DNS.
We were given a range of external IPs we could use. I can navigate to some of them but not others.
I called the data center and they said they don't have anything between us and their DNS and it must be a firewall issue.
I can't figure out what's wrong with my firewall settings though. I'm using a Juniper SSG-550.
I setup a rule that allowed HTTP and PING through and setup a NAT rule for one of the external IPs to an internal one. Can't ping it.
I can ping others that are setup this way, and one IP that has no enabled rules at all!
Where can I start looking to figure out what's going on?

  • Cross platform installation

I need to download Digital Editions for Pocket PC ( Windows Mobile 2003 second ed.), but at the moment I can only connect my Mac Powerbook to the net. I then plan to transfer it to my PDA.
I have installed Digital Editions on the powerbook and it works fine.
Any advise would be gratefully received.

    Many thanks Jim,
I was getting really tired of trying different approaches to this one.
Guess that I'll stick to Mobipocketbook for now.

  • Cross-Hardware Installation

In theory is it possible to install the version of OS 10.4 that comes with a PowerBook into a G5 Desktop PowerPC, or are the discs that come with these computers "computer specific"?
    Thanks in advance.

...and the license agreement allows you to only use them with the Mac that they shipped with.

  • Cross-country, cross platform iPod update?

Last week we bought our granddaughter a new Nano on the West Coast. We downloaded a dozen tracks from iTunes to one of our Macs, and put them on her Nano along with an audio book she was listening to and reading (which we imported from CD).
She has flown home to the East Coast. There, she will use iTunes on a PC. The challenge now is to remove the audio book but preserve the music when she updates her iPod.
We are thinking the best way is for us to burn those iTunes-purchased tracks to a CD and send it to her to upload onto the PC, and then for her to do a manual update using a folder that includes those tracks but excludes the book. We're thinking this will keep the music in place but remove the book.
Is this right? Is this the easiest way? Is a manual update on a PC essentially the same as on a Mac -- iTunes will open automatically when she connects the iPod, she can set the pref to manual update, and just drag the folder from iTunes onto the iPod icon?

I reformatted the iPod on my girlfriend's computer, then when I received the message to format my iPod (when plugged into my Mac), I got bold and hit "cancel" instead of "Restore."
What do you know? I can now use my iPod on both her computer and mine (for writing and reading). I set up my iPod to manually update so I wouldn't have my library replaced.
    Thank you for the help.

  • Networking Leopard Mac to Tiger Mac Cross Country

I wasn't sure where to post this message, but I thought I would try here. My father has an iMac with Tiger installed, and I have a MacBook Pro with Leopard installed. My father is almost completely illiterate when it comes to computers, and I know very little about networking. What I need to find is a way for me to connect directly to his computer to help him find and do things on his computer. Whatever program I use has to be very easily configured on his end, and needs to be pretty simple on my end also. I know the new iChat has this option, but I as I said before, he has the old iChat so I don't think iChat is an option. Thanks in advance for any info any one can provide.

It's totally doable, but it's not trivial. As it stands right now, you won't be able to do it, as you will need to install software on your father's computer first. And there are quite a few other complications such as ensuring his computer has an IP address you know in advance. All of these issues can be handled, but you won't be able to set it up until you get in front of his machine.
    The basic steps are:
Install VNC server software on your Dad's computer.
Ensure the relevant ports on his router are open
Install VNC client software on your computer and use it to view his computer.
For a detailed review of how to set this up, you can read this article:
    http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20050429153115383
As you mention, Leopard has two new features that will make your life a whole lot easier - Screen Sharing via iChat and BackToMyMac through the .Mac service. I would recommend investigating those technologies and plan to set that up when you next visit.
