Cross fades pixelate badly . Why?

Some, not all of the cross fades in my projects are pixelating badly. This only becomes evident after export.
I am not sure why. I am not sure what other info you might need to help me solve this problem.

You most likely need to export at a higher quality / bitrate and your pixilation should go away. I have seen this with transitions with certain graphics in my projects when I output at low quality for clients to reivew work. Try re exporting at 5000kbps h264 and see it it helps. Also if you are up converting to a higher resolution than the original footage that could do it as well. Try exporting using 422, look at the video and if all is ok then render it in compressor and play with different settings but 3000 to 5000kbs should not have blocky transitions, if you are exporting low quality then your transitions will not look great.

  • Why will my cross fade not go over the edit point?

    When using the cross fade effect, for some reason I can only get it to go on one of the clips and not over the edit. Not too useful! The duration of the fade seems to be difficult to adjust as well. Any idea what's going on?

    I had a friend who had the same problem... after taking a look we concluded that it had to do with the settings on his original footage.
    If you want a creative solution, you could scatter the clips by placing them on separate timelines with a small overlap, and add a cross fade to the end of the outgoing clip and the beginning of the incoming clip... not sure it that helps...

  • Can't Drag & Drop Cross Fade Transition ?

    I'm a new user and can't figure out why when I attempt to drag and drop a cross-fade transition into my timeline it won't stick or apply. Can anybody help with this. Also, is there a setting that would automatically apply the cross-fade transition to all clip joining points in the timeline ?

    The second techniques assumes there are handles available to create the transition overlap.

  • Adding cross fade reveals bit of footage I thought was razored off !

    Hi,
    Premiere Pro CS3
    If I go frame by frame with cursor at the end of my video I see only the footage I expect. Lets call it clip C.
    If I add black video at end of my footage and play timeline, I still see nothing extra beyond my video of Clip C, my footage ends abruptly and the black shows, but if I cross fade the junction then play, I see a bit of footage which followed on in the original recording on the camcorder (clip D) but was definitely cut off in this project, if frame by frame is anything to go by !
    It certainly doesnt show when scrubbed or played prior to adding the cross fade. If I use Dip to Black instead of Cross fade on that video/blackVideo junction then it fades to black and no unwanted video shows up.
    If I replace the black video with a video clip copy pasted from earlier in my sequence and cross fade the joint, then that bit of unwanted video (clip D)shows up again, fading out as the added clip fades in. As such if this was in the middle of my sequence I would be in trouble, but I can use dip to black at the end and not see it. As such though I need to know why I am seeing something not there until cross fade or similar is added.
    Whats going on ? How can I be showing something that was razored off ? I never knew that was there prior to adding in the cross dissolve.
    I also can see it if I use dither dissolve, and no doubt other transitions.
    I have even dragged the cursor and whilst seeing a frame of Clip C, sliced the end off a bit more incase clip D was lurking in the end of my video, that should do the trick, but annoyingly its still there ! Remove the transition and it doesnt show.
    Why ?

    Hi,
    Bill's explanation is correct , and I recently had similar problem with fading in and out, using cs3 and I found I had to do a couple things...
    1) zoom all the way in on the timeline to see individual frames. Use "eye" icon to turn on and off tracks so you can see the one you want one at a time when necessary.
    2) do the cross dissolve or fades using your own keyframes ...rather than the effect , and move frame by frame using arrow keys and look at program monitor to make sure your keyframes are in the right place NOT to show any footage you dont want.
    You could just adjust the keyframes of the effect cross dissolve but I find it easier just to do it manually... and make the dip angle of the transparency line similar to all your fades if you want that similarity...  In this sample its fades out and fades in, but if you stack the video you can fade one in as you fade the other out...which I find I have more control over than using the effect...but you can adjust the effect too if you want...
    anyway, couple ways you can do it is the bottom line and you need to just scrub thru frame by frame to double check what you really have...and render it first...so its all green....no red in the cross dissolve areas...or you wont see whats really there....  the image shows all manual fades

  • Cross Fade?

    Hi,
    this might very well be a silly beginner question. Can I do cross fades in Soundbooth with two audio files in the same track? It's possible to do so in Premiere Pro, I'm wondering why I can't find something like this in Soundbooth.
    Thanks!

    Soundbooth does not allow for two clips to overlap and create an automatic crossfade between them.  This can be accomplished by placing clips on two separate tracks and adjusting the fade in/fade out handles on each clip.
    Soundbooth has been discontinued as of the upcoming release of CS 5.5, and is replaced in the suite with Adobe Audition which does allow for simple drag and drop crossfades.

  • Cross Fade I-tunes to I-Pod

    I'm a total novice on i-tunes. I've set up a custom playlist, gone to preferences and checked cross fade.
    I've also edited the times of songs by right clicking, then selecting 'get info' then options tab and changed the times of songs. This makes the songs fade in and out of ech other on i-tunes.
    However when I use the i-pod in a dock and not on i-tunes the cross fade doesn't work. Can anyone let me know if it is a setting on the i-pod or how to cross fade on the i-pod itself please.

    Did you have iTunes Match prior to the HDD crash? If not, then you should NOT enable it yet.
    Why can't you restore your music from the backup you say you made?

    If it possible, can you add a 'Cross-Fade' in walkman app?

    Yeah, Sony Mobile, this can't be all that hard? Free third party music players have this feature as a whim. If you wanted, you could release the update tonight....

  • Gapless playback or cross fade: Hobson's choice!

    My mini dies, so I got a nano... find so far, until I discover iTunes calculating gapless playback information.
    What's it going to take Apple to fix this? How hard is it to offer one or the other?
    I should not have to choose between cross fade or gapless, I should be able to choose neither!
    If I have cross fade, the audio books with no silences at the beginning and end of each file have the words faded together.
    If I have gapless, the stupid software picks the wrong silence and I end up jumping over audio. If there is too long a silence in a pause in an mp3, it seems to be marked as the end of the track and I am jumped to the next one.
    Come on Apple! If you don't fix this, I'll have to give GtkPod a try.

    mutt   Windows XP Pro   ...and Linux! Centos, Fedora, RH, you name it.

    Opinions of users do affect my decisions, but I really am very careful about how I make those decisions. I may sound like a mad reactionary twit and I probably was until I found GtkPod, but that's not all I am.
    I'm really close to getting a Mac in my life now that their Mach/BSD hybrid is the base instead of Finder and the toolbox ROM. Linux is mostly taking care of the heavy lifting for me, but I need a consumer OS sometimes. I just can't run Vista, so that leaves MacOS X for a consumer OS for me, and it's not a bad choice.
    Where did you find a link to http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html? I spent a long time trying to find some way to communicate with them and that's a reason for my low opinion at the moment. I'll be chargrined if I just missed it.
    You really have properly chastised me, and I deserved quite a bit of it, but... I do have to take issue with your last point.
    The idea that an audiobook can't be an MP3 because an MP3 files are music is not true. I guess iTunes/iPod sees it that way, but that is changing. They have added "remember my position" to MP3 files and made it easy to set on a multi-selection, too.
    I think you will find MP3 audio books are very common everywhere but at Audible. Isis Publishing from the UK (Pratchett) and Blackstone Audio Books (Heinlein, Bujold) both use MP3 for there audio books. 32K or 64K Bps and mono or stereo make for very small audio books that play anywhere.
    DRM is broken by design, so I've just avoided Audible and iTunes and looked elsewhere. The iPods are the best audio players out there, though, so I am happy to use them. Until they get all gapless on me
    Thanks for the link.

  • A really simple cross-fade image for beginners

    Hello, I would like to put a cross-fading image into a table that is my website header. I don't need anything complicated at all, no controls etc, just want 8 images that fit my cell to continuosly crossfade after 3 seconds or so. Found many scripts/plugins/jquery etc but they all seem very complicated for beginners. I've used 'easyrotator' which is so easy to use, but it doesn't seem to have a cross fade on the free mode, just a swipe and i'm sure I can find similar for free. Maybe I'm missing something but I would have thought dreamweaver (being the helpful prog that it is) would have something to do this?
    Ideally, I would like it to be continuous regardless of the page people are on. I imagine this is above my head so if too tricky, perhaps it could just be random image fade.
    Any advice on the best thing to use here is greatly appreciated!

    Yes, it's the 'fade' option here: http://jquery.malsup.com/cycle/
    There really isn't enough instructions on this website for beginners to understand exactly what and where to put the various code otherwise this would be perfect!
    ok, here goes...i'll try to explain the process.
    1) Insert a <div> on your page and give it the class of 'slideshow' like below.
    <div class="slideshow">
    </div>
    2) Insert your images into the <div> as below: (example below shows images stored in 'images' folder)
    <div class="slideshow">
    <img src="images/beach1.jpg" width="200" height="200" />
    <img src="images/beach2.jpg" width="200" height="200" />
    <img src="images/beach3.jpg" width="200" height="200" />
    <img src="images/beach4.jpg" width="200" height="200" />
    <img src="images/beach5.jpg" width="200" height="200" />
    </div>
    3) Style the 'slideshow' <div> with css. Go into code view and paste the below directly before the closing </head> tag near the top of your page.
    <style type="text/css">
    .slideshow { height: 232px; width: 232px; margin: auto }
    .slideshow img { padding: 15px; border: 1px solid #ccc; background-color: #eee; }
    </style>
    4) Add the jquery scripts to your page. Go into code view and paste the below directly AFTER the css you pasted in above so this code is now directly before the closing </head> tag
    <!-- include jQuery library -->
    <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.5/jquery.min.js"></script>
    <!-- include Cycle plugin -->
    <script type="text/javascript" src="http://cloud.github.com/downloads/malsup/cycle/jquery.cycle.all.latest.js"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    $(document).ready(function() {
        $('.slideshow').cycle({
    fx: 'fade' // choose your transition type, ex: fade, scrollUp, shuffle, etc...
    </script>
    Thats it!.
    Well you would want to make sure the dimensions of the 'slideshow' <div> reflect those of your image.
    So for instance if your image is 300px x 300px the dimensions should be 332px x 332px. (see below) Why the extra 32px - because this is allocated for the 15px left/right/top/bottom padding and 1 px border around the image that you see on the example page.
    <style type="text/css">
    .slideshow { height: 332px; width: 332px; margin: auto }
    .slideshow img { padding: 15px; border: 1px solid #ccc; background-color: #eee; }
    </style>
    Also ideally you want to download the jquery cycle script rather than use the directly linked one just incase in future the script is moved.
    So download the script from the link provided on the page and change this link:
    <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.5/jquery.min.js">
    To wherever you keep the script in your site folder (below its kept in a folder named 'jquery_scripts':
    <script type="text/javascript" src="jquery_scripts/jquery.min.js">

  • Cross fades not working in flex mode.

    Hey there,
    i have an audio region in Logic Pro X (latest update) that's using the flex pitch mode. When I want to cross fade it with another region, it just doesn't work. Seems to be a bug or am I wrong?
    Greetings,
    R. Philipp

    Me too. Does the fade tool move your region las if you just had the cursor selected?
    Looks like there are quite a few threads on this topic to check out.

  • How can I set up cross fade to automatically trim files ?

    How can I set up cross fade to automatically trim the two files to size when fading between them? Thanks

    Hi, thanks for the reply. What I meant was that in Pro Tools, you can highlight an area between two tracks and crossfade. Then the files are exactly trimmed automatically so there is no excess overlap of the edges of both files. In Logic it seems to leave the overlap, and this can be a problem when you accidently click the wrong place and the underlying file is bought to the front, changing the crossfade area. I wish it to trim the excess so there is no danger of the lower file edges coming forward.

  • Cross fade in a folio (CS6)

    My company is 2 years behind the DPS curve (and by extension, so am I) so I apologize if this seems like a dumb question.
    I'm building a folio in CS6 and would like to create a cross fade from one article to another.
    I have a 4-second intro video
    I want it to run automatically when the folio is opened
    When it finishes I want it to cross fade into the cover of the folio
    Is there a way to do this?
    It doesn't have to be separate articles, it could be MSO's if that's a better way, as long as it doesn't reload the video when someone goes back to the cover.
    I just haven't found a description on how I can cross fade from an entire (1024 x 768) layout to another.
    Any help would be appreciated (even a "hey dummy, it's over <here>").

    Moved to DPS forum.
    There is no way to do this without having the video play again when the cover is reloaded.

  • How can I get cross fade/dissolve of both audio and video?

    I want to centre the coss fade/dissolve transition on the clip boundary.  I can do this with the video cross dissolve but not the audio cross fade - for the audio, the Alignment facility in the Edit transition is greyed out and the transition can only be located to the left or right of the clip boundary.  It seems an obvious requirement and surprising that audio cross fade is not, optionally at least, an integral part of the video cross dissolve (as it is in Corel VideoStudio).

    Steve - thanks for the reply.
    Yes I am working in Timeline mode and have done what you suggest - i.e., drag in the video transition followed by the audio transition.  However, despite my original update to the question, I now cannot centre the audio transition on the clip boundary - it worked once as reported but not since.
    Basically when I drag the audio cross fade transition on to the timeline, it will only let me drop it to the left or right of the clip boundary.  I then hightlight the transition and click on the edit transition button.  The properties are displayed and I can alter the length of the transition but the wording in the alignment row of the properties is greyed out with the setting being "End at cut".  The down arrow head to give the drop down with the other settings is grey and inactive.
    I don't understand how I made it work once!
    Any ideas?
    Frank

    can someone tell me how many seconds the cross fade is when running your Ipod 6th Gen nano in that mode? I teach spin class and want to know how much time I'm losing in that mode.

    You aren't losing any time in that mode, but I believe it is a 10 second fade out/fade in.

    I was given a project to make some changes to and every time I open it I need to recreate the cross fades and then export it and then check it and then recreate the cross fades that didn't export and then hope for the best!!

    Please check this blog post. Updating from Time Machine can cause this issue: Premiere Pro CC, CC 2014, or 2014.1 freezing on startup or crashing while working (Mac OS X 10.9, and later).
