Crossed circle when trying to boot Lion Os x from USB drive

Hi all
I have
MacBook Air (13-inch, Mid 2011)
So , on my other macbook pro i created usb drive (with guid) and made it bootable with Lion Os x .. now when i power up Macbook Air with option key and select that usb driver, i get Crossed circle... What the **** is the problem ?

  • Booting Lion Recovery Assistant From Thumb Drive

    I'm wondering if I can boot the Lion "Recovery Disk Assitant" from a USB thumb drive with an early 2008 MacBook Pro with an installed but unformatted hard drive. I do have a Time Machine backup to finish the job. I'm not sure the laptop's firmware will allow a USB boot up with the thumb drive. Does anyone know if that should be a problem? I'm assuming the "Recovery Disk Assistant" would take care of the formatting and get me started. The old hard drive is working but I need more capacity. I want the new drive to have the recovery partition so I am concerned about losing it if I were to clone the old hard drive which also has a cloned bootcamp partition. I would rather be sure by letting the new Lion installation take care of partioning issues.

    The OP has a 2008 MBP, which is not new enough for this.
    Lion Internet recovery in the absence of a recovery partition on disk has to be done via the Mac's firmware. All new Macs have this capability, and there are EFI firmware updates available for a number 2010 and 2011 Macs, but there is no such EFI firmware update available for a 2008 MBP.

    I recently had to do a clean install of my computer and tried to run my Adobe applications after installing them from a hard drive backup. It keeps giving me Configuration Error 1. I tried to take a different route and use my serial number to activate Adobe Acrobat X Pro and my serial number will not work to activate the free download.
    I downloaded a university copy of Adobe Creative Suite Design Premium CS5.5 in September 2011.

  • Error code -4403F when trying to run Lion Recovery

    I am trying to run lion internet recovery from my mac mini server (2011). When I boot I run "Cmd R", once it tries to connect to the internet it gives me the error -4403F
    I am running a netgear WNR2000v2 router. Is there anything I can set on the router to allow the recovery to run?

    This means that your NAS does not support the required encryption. Update your NAS to the latest firmware or ditch it and buy a Time Capsule (they are the most reliable when using TM).

    Why am I getting an app store error when trying to download Lion? Any ideas?

    I would complain really bad and get them to give you a Flash card that they just came out with because they've inconvenienced you so much and  you don't have hours to spend at the apple store waiting for the whole thing to load.
    The only thing about the flash cards is that it will change your whole motherboard so it won't allow you to install snow leopard or anything less, ever again. (as what the apple specialist told me over the phone).
    I would also suggest waiting. It really isn't worth the hastle and you may not benefit from installing it on your old computer... just a thought.

    Local Mac shop said to hold down "c" after inserting disk to get "disk utility" to come up in order to wipe hard drive.  I can't seem to get it to do this.

    This W7 was purchased for using Fusion, as others did - per reviews from amazon.  The technician today called their contact at VMWare - Fusion not officially for use with Lion - even though I read at the VMWare support site that others have made it work.  Apparently my setup doesn't work. 
    Do you know how to do the proceedure for bringing up the disk utility when starting the disk?
    BTW, some of the windows applications I want to continue using are Incredimail, Calendarscope, Stamps.com and a few others I have used over many years.  What do you use for email and calendar?
    Wow, sounds like another reason to not use MS Windows.
    Regarding your Disk Utility question, please elablorate I'm not sure what you're trying to do. Disk Utilty is just that...a utility, it's something most users never have to use especially on a new computer. Let me know what you're trying to do there before I give you some instructions.
    As for as your Windows apps I would recommend using Mail and iCal, both come as part of OS X and are very robust tools. Don't discount the software built right into OS X it's very robust and powerful not all like the bloatware most Windows boxes ship with. Stamps.com well I'd look for another alternative. It's clear they don't support OS X which makes me a little suspicious that they're so behind the times. 
    Also if you have not been exposed to these links before I'd strongly recommend bookmarking them and using them. They're extermely useful!

  • Windows Server 2012R2 Fatal Error C0000034 when trying to boot

    Hi.
    We patched our Server 2012R2 DC today to fix against CVE-2014-6324 using Windows update. After rebooting, we are now unable to boot and receive the error stated in the title when trying to boot.
    Our primary DC however had no issues applying the update and rebooted perfectly fine.
    I can only seem to find articles relating to Windows 7 SP1 regarding this error code. Is there a method for recovering this with Server 2012R2?

    when trying to remove a partition on my hard drive I got an error and the option was grayed out in boot camp assistant. error message:  "The startup disk cannot be partitioned or restored to a single partition.  startup disk must be formatted as a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume or already partitioned by Boot Camp Assistant for installing Window".

    I am going to revise my question to this.  If I compress my itunes folder which would save me a considerable amount of space will this make the music and apps information stored in there unsyncable?

    If you are using Photoshop from within iPhoto the following may help with the workflow.  However, we do need to know the answers to the questions posed by Terence and Larry to be able to help you.
    Using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
    1 - select Photoshop or Photoshop Elememts as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
    2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop.  When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
    3 - however, if you get the navigation window
    that indicates that  PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file.  You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
    This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
    With Photoshop Elements  the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
    I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.  In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:

    Note 1:  to switch between iPhoto and PS or PSE as the editor of choice Control (right)-click on the thumbnail and select either Edit in iPhoto or Edit in External Editor from the contextual menu. If you use iPhoto to edit more than PSE re-select iPhoto in the iPhoto General preference pane. Then iPhoto will be the default editor and you can use the contextual menu to select PSE for your editor when desired.
    Note 2:  editing a RAW file with either PSE or PS creates a new file which must be saved outside of iPhoto, i.e. the Desktop, and imported as a new photo into the iPhoto Library.
