"Crossfade" in update 2.1?

Is there a "Crossfade" feature in 2.1? Nano has it, for instance.

Hi,
The download come in fully fine. The software installs on the iPhone, but the white progress bar on the phone stops at 100% (right side) and then there is no further progress either on-screen or on the phone (during the software verification phase on the phone).
One install was on a wireless network outside of the enterprise. Two others were inside the enterprise network. The Mac was inside the enterprise and was successful for fixing two "bricked" phones.
The reason for noting the wireless and the wired configuration and the network stack failing on the laptop is that those are distinctly two different drivers sets on the laptop. So I think that rules out network driver issues.
One laptop that succeeded was a newer Dell with PGP installed, but the disk was not yet whole-disk encrypted. The other mentioned software was installed, including the SEP software.

  • Ability to Set Crossfade for a specific Playlist

Like most people, I have several playlists.  I have one that I listen to at work that is nature sounds and stuff, to drown out coworkers without accidentally singing or getting distracted by the music.  I like having the crossfade set to the full 12 seconds so that each track overlaps with the next one.  However, most of my other playlists I don't want to have the crossfade, or at very least want it much less than the 12 seconds.  Unfortunately, this means that virtually everytime I change playlists, I have to go in and change the crossfade setting.

Updated: 2015-07-31Hi and thanks for your contribution! A similar idea has also been suggested here:

  • Crossfader not working properly since latest software update

Since downloading the software update (21/01/2012) - the crossfader that I have set to maximum (12 sec) is not working correctly. It seems to play the next track about 40-50 seconds before the last one has finished !!
I have reset the crossfader to less seconds but it doesn't fade - it just plays the next track over the last but doesn't actually fade !!
Anyone else having this problem ? If so have you fixed the problem and how ????

    HI and welcome.....
It does the same thing when I log in under another user account. My mail application also stopped working at the same time.
Boot from your install disc and follow the instructions here to check the startup disk for errors. See, *Try Disk Utility*
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1417
If the startup disk "appears to be ok", then install the v10.6.5 Combo Update
Then repair permissions. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. If you see any warnings re: SUID messages, they can be safely ignored, information here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1448?viewlocale=en_US

  • Crossfade doesnt work and glitches between songs with update 7.7

Well, apple has made it again. It seems apple has been very busy with its little iphone toy that It forgot its principal product: computers and software. I am still furious because the last ipod update makes my ipod pause radnomly and now the last Itunes update ***** too. Since this update crossfader doesnt work properly anymore. In fact there´s no crossfade just an annoying gap and glitch between songs. Even if I turn the crossfader off. Why apple? why? You ****** me off already!

We are not Apple we are users like you press power button & menu button hold both down until you see Apple Logo
then wait you will not lose any data also turn you modem off for 30 seconds then after modem has started up

  • My thorough list of problems after updating to iTunes 7

I've been reading the topics around. Some of these problems below seem to be sort of common, with slight differences in my case. Some others I couldn't figure out whether anyone else has experienced them.
First of all, unlike in a lot of the topics that I've read around, I didn't have any problems installing iTunes 7 (although the problems started right after I turned it on for the first time...). Nor did I have any problems updating the software on my iPod to version 1.2, which I have to say, unlike iTunes 7, seems to be very nice, particularly on the new detail of searching the long lists of songs/artists/albums alphabetically.
    1) The least serious of the bugs on iTunes already used to happen to me with the previous version 6. Occasionaly, when I plug in my iPod to the computer, iTunes doesn't recognize it properly. Instead of the 5th generation video, it shows up on iTunes as a previous generation iPod without video. What happens then is that iTunes screws up the whole artwork settings on the iPod. It starts off by switching off the artwork visualization option on my iPod, the next time it correctly recognizes it as the 60 G video model. And when I turn the option back on, as it should always have stayed, iTunes proceeds to reorganize the whole artwork list on the iPod, by first deleting it completely and then optimizing it. When one has the iPod with more than 20 G full of albums (let alone when it's 60 G are completely full...), this is something that already takes a lot of time and becomes irritating, taking into account that it happens sort of randomly: you plug in the iPod and pray that iTunes recognizes it properly. It used to happen to me quite frequently with iTunes 6, and I thought it would be fixed with the new version 7. But it hasn't: yesterday it already happened to me again, once, after I plugged/unplugged it some 10-15 times. The frequency of the ocurrence of the problem, at least, seems to have decreased, when compared to iTunes 6.
    2) As opposed to the previous problem, the most serious happend to me right after I started iTunes 7 for the very first time, with the iPod plugged in. Like it has already been reported by several particpants in this forum, it started doing the infamous gapless analysis on my BIG iPod song library and it froze after a while, finally crashing with the usual message "Do you want to send a report to Microsoft". Up to this point, this seems to be common with a lot of users of the new version 7. With me, it went farther. I was the one that froze right afterwards: when I started iTunes again, I realized that in the process of freezing/crashing/restarting iTunes had switched off my manual update option on the iPod, instantaneously erasing about 5000 songs that I had loaded in it. The problem is that I didn't have enough space on my computer hard-disk to hold those 25 G of music, so I only kept them on the iPod whereas my iTunes music library was essentially empty. And there I am now, importing every single one of my CDs back into iTunes and to the iPod, something that will take me another couple of weeks at least.
    3) Taking into account the previous point, I am essentially using iTunes 7 now from the start with an empty library, importing every CD back from scratch, as if this was my first encounter with iTunes and iPod. I cannot see then what it could have done to an already existing music library on the computer (other than completely erasing the one that I had on the iPod), like some damage that also I read happened to some people. With the CDs being imported all over again with iTunes 7, it no longer does any gapless analysis of anything, because there are no songs imported with previous iTunes versions to be analyzed. The sound is also fine: I don't get any of the static or garbled noises that I read were also troubling a lot of people.
    4) As for the crossfading/gapless discussion, after experimenting with those (now infamous) two options for a while, I got to the conclusion that there's really no point at all in having them, even when they work well... let alone the serious problems that their introduction on iTunes 7 has been causing. By turning the crossfading option on, I can see that iTunes merges the end of one song with the beginning of the following one, with time lengths depending on the slider position chosen by the user in the corresponding option's window. But it's something that I personally dislike a lot, to have both songs sort of being played on top of each other, during their transition. So I switched it off. On the other hand, the gapless playback seemed to be a nice welcome. It is true that, until this version 7 came up, on certain albums, like in the classical "Sgt. Pepper's Lonley Hearts Club Band" (that supposedly first started that concept) or a lot of the Pink Floyd ones, where the songs are almost continuous without any pauses between them, both iTunes and the iPod used to force an inconvenient pause between the songs. I then imagined that this gapless option would at least improve on that. But what I've figured out by now, after using iTunes 7 for three days, is that if the original albums don't have any pauses between songs, iTunes 7 now imports those albums exactly as they are, without any pauses either, even if both the crossfading and the gapless option are switched off. In other words, after importing my "Sgt. Pepper's" and "Dark Side of the Moon" CDs again with iTunes 7, I no longer get forced pauses between the songs like I used to get before, either on iTunes, or in the iPod. This, even though I make sure that those two options are switched off. The gapless playback seems then to be sort of automatic now on iTunes 7, as it should, if that's the way the original imported album is also recorded. And this troublesome gapless option seems then to be a completely useless thing, unless the idea is to fix songs imported with previous iTunes versions, or to force gapless playing on albums that originally have pauses.
    5) As many people have noted already, the "Drag and drop" album artwork window only works for single songs. If one wants to cut and paste the artwork into that window for several selected songs or a whole album at once, like it could be done on iTunes 6, that's not working now. One has to select all the songs and then, with the right mouse button, choose the info window to paste the artwork into the small box there.
    6) Finally, when the iPod is plugged to the computer, some viewing configurations on iTunes are not being memorized either. For example, I always turn the browser option on (Ctrl+B), so that I can see the artists and albums lists, on top of the complete song list. But everytime I plug the iPod back on, that option is switched off. For the main iTunes music library it's OK: I've only needed to do it once, and now that viweing configuration has been there forever, everytime I start iTunes. But whenever I plug the iPod and click on its music library, I then need to press Ctrl+B every time, because iTunes doesn't seem to keep that viewing option switched on from the previous time the iPod was plugged. Again, this is something that worked fine with iTunes 6.
Conclusion: there are indeed a lot of bugs to be fixed with this new version of iTunes, some of them highly damaging to the saved libraries. IF YOU STILL HAVEN'T UPDATED TO VERSION 7, DON'T DO IT YET. WAIT A FEW WEEKS UNTIL APPLE FIXES ALL THIS.

Upgrading to itunes 7.0 just cost me 2 days of messing around and in the end I had to revert back to v6.0 and resore my lib.
Apple CS was good but did not belly up the fact that 7.0 is defective in some cases and in the end told me I had a hardware problem!
The main issue is that I could not get itunes 7.0 to see my ipod (very infrequently after a hard boot I would see it but would not be able to upload anything). Worked(s) 100% with v 6.0.
This is very defintey 1/2 baked following in the steps of the other well known producers of sw that is not always functional/buggy the first time around.

  • My iTunes doesn't keep track of my listening history anymore. It doesn't update play counts and default "Recently Played" playlist.

My iTunes doesn't keep track of my listening history anymore. It doesn't update play counts and default "Recently Played" playlist. But it still tracking plays from my iPhone and syncing them.
I've tried to repair it with setup file. Nothing's changed.
Can you help me with that?
NOTE: Now I tried disabling the crossfade feature and it worked, started to count again. But I like crossfade, I don't want to keep it off.

I think I got this figured out. The playcount does update, but not how the previous iPod models update their playcount. Instead of immediately updating the playcount right after you finish the song like the older iPod models, iPod Touch keeps the updates in memory. The next time you connect to iTunes it'll sync those playcounts in memory to the actual songs itself, effectively updating the playcount of the songs only after connecting to iTunes. I have set my syncing manually. That's why after connecting to iTunes, my playcounts are updated. BUT it doesn't solve the mystery of my Smart Playlist. Even though in iTunes, the correct songs are listed, in the iPod Touch, it shows the old playlist.
Don't you just hate that? It was working fine before on non-iPod touch models. Now we have to live with this new bug. I just hope when they release software 2.0 it fixes these bugs and that they *give it for free!* People shouldn't be charged on something they should have gotten as a support!

  • Crossfade no longer works in iTunes version 11.0.1.12

Anyone else experiencing issues with iTunes 11.0.1.12 Crossfade working ?      Seems this newest version has brought back a very old problem.   Sorry Apple, need to check your regression tessting processes that old problems are not reintroduced on newer releases.    All this silence in between songs is just too much wasted time.

I have the same problem since iTunes 11 and was hoping it would be solved in updates, but still nothing.

    Hi Anthony,
Gapless playback is not currently supported on the iPod. You can join the ranks of people who have requested this feature by going here:

  • ITunes 10.3 wont crossfade

Hi folks, got a brand new MacBook Air and installed the latest version (10.3) of iTunes (managing 5000 mp3 files/ 76 Gb).
My problem is that the crossfade function, (properly activated in "playback preferences", doesn't work! It just don't fade. Any suggestions? Thanx a lot.

    Many thanks.
Both the error 7 and the error 2 suggest that there's some damage to your Apple Application Support. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different apple programs are stashed.)
Let's try the procedure from the following post:

  • Just updated to 7.1 and now library music skips

I just downloaded version 7.1 and now the first 3-10sec of random songs skip like my computer is having a seizure when playing crossfade playback. Is anyone else having this issue? Never had any problems until this update. Already deleted my library and re-imported per Apple support instructions and it is still happening.

Yeah, I had this problem too. It is not a perfect fix but try turning off the Equalizer; it resolved the issue on my computer.

  • How do I get version 11 to update "Plays" & "Last Play?"

Upgraded iTunes to 11.0 and the system no longer automatically updates the "Last Play" date or "Plays" number.  Any solutions?

I had the same problem.  From the following thread, if you turn off the crossfade, that solves the issue.  Seems to be working for me, although it's silly you have to turn off a feature to get that to work.

  • Pink Border with Crossfade

    Hi,
with a current project I noticed a pink line flashing at the border of the image. First I thought it´s just an preview issue - but it appears after rendering as well.
The line appears only, when I move the footage (it´s a white gradient as a .psd) out of the right frame.
But it´s fine when it´s not intersection with the right format border or if it´s intersecting with the left/top/bottom border.
Also the pink line only appears during a crossfade effect (with dip to black it seems to be a red line).
I just uploaded two pictures on a german uploading website, please take a look here...
    http://www7.pic-upload.de/08.04.14/ggivlkky7d59.jpg
(that´s how it looks like when footage is inside the frame)
    http://www7.pic-upload.de/08.04.14/4ztpydtmavtq.jpg
(that´s how it looks like when footage is moved outside the frame using position x value)
Any ideas where this comes from and how to fix it?
    Hoping someone can help.
    Thanks a lot!
Edit: Using Premiere CC v7.2.1 at the company on a Mac V10.8.5

It's either a graphical glitch or there is a video layer beneath with pink on it and it's showing through. There's also an 'end of sequence media indicator' which is a horizontal line that will show up when the playhead is at the end of all media in a given sequence. But it shouldn't;t be pink and it would be offset from the edge of the monitor by about 1/8 of the total monitor width, like this:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1334155
It's really hard to tell what's going on without specific steps and or media to reproduce what you did. Also, when you supply screenshots, it's be not to zoom in so far so that I can maybe tall what else is going on in your workspace. Thanks for your support!
Update: is it possible that maybe we're seeing the edge of the wireframe around the clip when it is selected for direct manipulation? Again, if the view is not zoomed out so far I could easily tell.

  • File Not Found / Fade Update Failed Error -43

I have been getting two errors all of a sudden when instigating playback in the Arrange window in Logic 9.
File Not Found Result Code -43
    and
    Fade Update Field Error -43
I have googled information on this and have tried the following:
Used "Save As" and changed the name of the project file
Removed automation at the start of 3 tracks where i have automated in a gradual increase in volume
Gone to the Audio menu and selected "Delete Fade Files"
None of the above have worked. I have not used the crossfade tool to add a fade to the start or end of a track, i have only created a fade effect by using Volume Automation.
There seems to be other people having the same problem but i haven't found any with the -43 error code.
Does anyone know what that code relates to?
Have you any suggestions as to how i can get rid of this error?
    Thanks

I recently had issues with a "File Not Found" error, though it was a different code #. (-61, or something similar.)
I was trying to move a track from my old G4 and work on it on my Macbook Pro laptop.
The problem turned out to be related to file permissions.
Logic is not a network-friendly program, and OS X is hyper sensitive to permissions, so to access a file that was originally stored on another computer, I had to do two things:
"Get Info" for the drive (it was not a system drive) that the original file was stored on, and check the box at the bottom:
    "Ignore Permissions on This Volume"
From the user account on that computer, I then copied the file from the internal drive to an external firewire drive which also had "Ignore Permissions" checked off in the "Get Info" window.
I could then access the file from my user account on the laptop.
Once I did those steps, the "File Not Found" error no longer appeared.

  • Anyone know why i cant make my crossfader work for i tunes?

If the phone was previously unlocked by an unauthorized method, it was re-locked to its original carrier when you updated.  It will now acivate and operate only with that carrier, using their SIM card.

  • Play counts not updating? - iTunes 11

Just updated to iTunes 11 and track information such as play count, skip count, laste played date, etc. are NOT updating as I listen to songs. I have quite a few smart playlists based around this data and now they aren't updating.
Just me or is this a bug?
    Thanks!

Well, how odd. I woke up my computer to find my iTunes behaving in the same manner...
Well as far as I can tell Up Next is not "playing" well with Crossfade (pun intended)
To put it simply, with iTunes 11, you can have either one or the other. Not both. If you have Crossfade on, your play counts/dates will not be updated. If you don't, they will but you won't have any crossfading.  I theorize that this new unnecessary feature has broke the functionality between Crossfading and the Last Played/Play Count fields.
Of course, what more can you expect from a powerful company like Apple? After all, Micro$oft Windows Media Player's crossfade has been broken for a while. Stupid software doesn't start timing the next song until AFTER the first one is finished, Someone sure as heck dropped the ball on that one. I guess it's too much to ask for everything to work as it should in either Media Player.
