Crossfade Playback Causes Skipping

When I have Crossfade Playback enabled I get skipping sound during the first 6 seconds of a song. I never had this problem with iTunes before I installed v7.
Any ideas?

I have experienced the same crossfade playback issue. Songs skip during the first six seconds when the Crossfade Playback option is enabled. This problem began immediately after the installation of iTunes v7.
I have disabled the Crossfade Playback in the Preferences - Playback Window and this has stopped the skipping, however, the CPU usage still peaks at 100% during the transition between songs. Hence, this is not a real solution and a bug still remains in the new iTunes v7.

  • IPod playlists & crossfade playback

I have created some great playlists in ITunes using the crossfade playback function.
Does anyone know whether I can:
    1) Transfer the playlists to my iPod with the crossfade function intact?
    2) If not, any suggestions for how I can burn the playlist to a CD with the crossfade intact.
Any help gratefully received as the playlists are for my wedding in September!

I know that you can't use the crossfade feature on the iPod, it's an iTunes only feature.
As to whether you can burn a cd with crossfade, I'm not sure. I know you can set the gap between songs to "none" but I don't think you can use crossfade.

  • Crossfade Playback

    Hi,
I'm using the XP PRO Itunes version 7.6.0.29. I'm having some problems with the "crossfade Playback" option. It works intermitently. Sometimes it will cross between songs with a slight overlap and no fade. Sometimes it will work with both the cross and the fade out and into the new song. It isn't consistent. Is thier a cure for this problem? If the previous song ends softly as recorded and the next song starts with a loud begining, it doesn't seem to work at all. Of course this is the exact situation where one would desire a crossfade playback. I can fix this in Roxio but that is an extreem fix.

As long as you're working with audio CDs and not iTMS downloads, you can, at the time of importing, use iTunes to Join CD Tracks via the Advanced menu. You can select any contiguous range(s) or songs, or a whole album. You'll get perfect playback without using the crossfader, but you'll not be able to navigate as usual from track to track when you do this.
There unfortunately aren't any players for OS X capable of playing back albums correctly (for the 10-year old Windows 95, yes, but for the newest and best OS X, no), so basically the only remedies are little workarounds like this.

  • Does the iphone support the "crossfade" playback option?

I'm trying without success to find an option on my iphone that would let me turn on the "crossfade" playback option for my music. I love this feature on my ipod nano and the new Itunes, but I can't seem to find that feature on my iphone's ipod. Is it just not possible to do this on the iphone?

  • What is Crossfade playback?

Hello, i have an ipod nano with itunes 7 and i dont know what the crossfade playback slider does. Does it have to do with my songs not finish, while another song picks up right away?? -Thanks!

Crossfade just blends the ends of songs, like if you set it to 5 sec, it will start the next song 5 sec before the last one stops playing

  • Crossfade playback on Ipod %th Generation

How can I listen Crossfade playback Music on an iPod of 5th Genaration (80 GB)?
    Is it Possible?

nope, crossfade is an iTunes only feature.

  • Crossfade Playback & Unchecked Songs

The crossfade playback functionality works quite well and does what it is supposed to do except when the playlist contains both checked and unchecked songs. There's no crossfade at all when an unchecked song is encountered before moving on to the next checked song (I hope it's more or less clear what I mean).
Is there any way to get around this?

Rather than checking and unchecking tracks as your primary method of controlling what goes on the iPod, instead check your entire library then use playlists and smart playlists to group your stuff and you can then set up the iPod to ONLY sync playlists you pick.
For example, you might make a Smart Playlist limited to xx number of songs or xx gigs or whatever you want and the playlist is the stuff "Least Recently Played". Check live updating so this list is constantly updated. Now pick this as the playlist synced to your iPod. Each time you listen to stuff in iTunes or the iPod those items become the MOST recently played and will fall out of that list and be replaced with something new. Each time you sync your iPod, that list will refresh and you will get a constantly changing selection of stuff.
Of just create a normal (not Smart) playlist, pick that one to sync to your iPod and just manually add and delete stuff from it, keeping it under whatever space you have on the iPod. This gives you what you have now, but you can leave everything in your library checked.

  • Crossfade Playback on iPod/nanoPod?

Is Crossfade Playback on iPod/Nano possible?
    If not, why?

Yes, Yes, a thousand times yes...sort of...
Ok here was my problem. I agreed to "DJ" my mother-in-law's 70th Bday celebration. I set up my playlist in itunes and thought my ipod could crossfade. OOPS..it can't (at least not yet).
Not being one not to accept the limitations of technology (we must not let computers or their makers limit our creativity), and being cheap and not willing to buy additional hardware or software, I set upon a journey to solve this pressing global issue.
Here's a pretty lengthy but effective way to simulate the Crossfade effect on a playlist (hint: it helps if you know a little about imovie):
    1) Create your playlist in itunes
    2) Open imovie and import the tracks
    3) Alternate the tracks between the 2 available audio tracks
    4) Edit each track fade in and out as necessary by overlapping individual tracks and if necessary usiing the volume adjustment faders in imovie. It takes a little practice but you'll be mixin' like a pro in no time.
    5) Export to quicktime. Imovie requires video to export, so instead of video I added a 1 second picture from my iphoto library.
    6) I downloaded freeware from versiontracker called "Extract Movie Soundtrack" and ran the program to remove the video from my quicktime file and created a aiff.
    7) Import the aiff file into itunes and TAA DAA..you have a playlist with the crossfade you have created and always wanted.
I do hope that Apple includes crossfade in a future update of ipod software.
    Goodluck and happy ipodding.

  • NBA International League Pass playback issues - skipping chunks of games

    Hi all!
Over the last 2 days I am experiencing problems when playing back games on the ATV.
The games start fine and I get full quality HD streaming but as the game progreses the picture "freezes" and when I check teh playback the time is still increasing.  After 5-20 seconds have elapsed the game starts again but has sometimes jumped forward several minutes.
I have rebooted the ATV and my router but has not cleared the problem.
I was watching the Cavs Vs Nuggets this morning (7am UK time) and all was good for 40+ mins and then this problem reared it's ugly head again.
Is anybody else experiencin this issue?
    Dave

Same issue here; AppleTV on latest release, I had two games which skipped a couple of times, each time just a few seconds, and one game which skipped 10+ minutes per occurence, causing the 2nd half to be done in approx 2 minutes ;-(
I logged an issue via: http://leaguepasssupport.nba.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=7801  ; I suggest you will do the same to get the attention at the NBA league pass people as well.
Update: I got an auto-reply suggesting to use [email protected] for International League Pass support.

  • Playback Bar Skipping Slides

At first I had put buttons on all my slides to manually move
forward and back. But then I needed a pause that would start and
stop the audio, so I selected a playback bar with the the Skin
setting. To make the slide stop, however I still had to have a
button that paused the slide after the audio was done.
    Over all this mostly works.
However it seems that occasionally pressing the next button
in the skin playback bar will cause Captivate to just "flash" over
a slide. I see it blink on for just a moment, and then it is gone.
I've checked the ones that it does it to, and they aren't always
the same, and I don't see anything that could be causing the
problem. They are set to display for a certain length of time, they
have a button to pause them, and so on.
    Any idea where to look?

I think I've figured out what the problem is.
I want the user to stay on a slide until they click the
    playbar "next" button.
Since there is no way to just stop a slide by itself. I've
put a button which pauses the slide onto the slide.
That button is "hidden" by being underneath the place where
    the playbar will show up.
It seems to work when I publish it directly out of Captivate
But when I then load that swf into Articulate, both the
playbar next and the next next are being pressed and that skips me
    ahead.
It seems the answer is to make a button that pauses the
slide, but has an action of nothing.
Does that seem sensible? Does anybody else have ideas?

  • Skipping during playback and skipping render

When i try to add multiple videos or a song to my motion project...sometimes the audio skips or wont play at all...and sometimes just playback with certain images causes "real time" to slow down. So i'll hit command r and it will render but sometimes it will skip a section? ANy know why its doing this and how to fix it?

Maybe, like Maynard, it don't like to work...
Seriously - it can also only render to the amount of RAM you have available...

  • Metallic blips interrupt playback, cause computer lag, iTunes library gradually depleted

I didn't realize there would be a comment box
here's the story friends, perhaps you can help me!
This has not been an issue with any of my other pcs. I am running Windows 7 on a (cheap) Gateway I bought this summer. I keep ALL of my music on an external terabyte and have never encountered problems with external HD music in iTunes on another machine.
Since loading iTunes onto this computer, I have experienced:
-metallic, buzzing interruptions to music playback with no discernible pattern or cause. All programs can be closed, or open, machine can be active or relatively inactive, and i will hear this sound intermittently and indiscriminately, regardless. I can listen to a song on repeat, for example, and the buzzing will happen multiple times in one playback, none in another, and several times again, in different places, in a third playback. This would indicate to me some kind of external influence, but those factors are not consistent either.
    - slow depletion of library. iTunes will, after an uncertain amount of time (i have not clocked it because I had not thought it to recur again), begin to lose connection to files. I will open up iTunes and songs I was recently listening to will have exclamation marks next to them, indicative of a missing file that the program could not locate. When I double-click on them, it states it's unable to find the file and when I attempt to find it where all my music is stored, I frequently CAN'T.
Due to this, I have deleted my library, approximately 50G, three times and re-imported it all at once thereafter, each time. The missing songs will reappear in working order, and even those I was not aware I'd lost will return.
I did this about a month and a half ago, I think, and now files are disappearing again.
Does ANYONE have the slightest inkling of what's going on here? I am very frustrated, obviously, because I have used iTunes for over 5 years and have put a good deal of money into it that cannot be transferred to another platform. I would be elated to even hear from someone with a similar problem.
Thank you for reading, I appreciate your time, and any help you may be able to offer me!

  • How do I stop my itunes video playback from skipping

We just bought a full season of a show and while trying to watch it the video playback is either really slow or it stops and skips while the audio keeps playing. Any suggestions how to fix?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • ITunes 6.0.1 causes skips when ripping from CDs

I have been using iTunes to convert my CDs to mp3 files on my Mac. With the advent of iTunes 6.0.1 the mp3 files skip (in the same places) using iTunes, VLC, and the SlimMusic player. The converted mp3 files from earlier versions of iTunes don't have any skips in them using any of these players. I made sure that my Mac wasn't doing anything else when I did the newest conversions. Thus, I can only conclude that iTunes 6.0.1 is causing the problem. Does anyone else have this problem? Is Apple now enforcing some music industry rule about ripping mp3s from CDs? If so, are there any other mp3 ripping progams still available for the Mac? Help!
    iMac G4   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

I've determined that iTunes has to be the topmost active window when importing, otherwise it will crash consistantly. And I though Microsoft was bad...
iTunes for the Mac works fine though.
