I don't think you understood Shane's response at all. As he said, the icons ARE the actual application package files. If you want to keep your old apps, change their name to something esle or move them to another volume before you upgrade so they don't get overwritten.

    your understanding of the 49 dollar academic crossgrade from 5.0 to 5.1 is wrong, you will get 5.1 universal binary discs but you will use your academic serial number.
    regarding upgrades to version 6, no one here knows as it's not out yet and speculating it's release is for the rumor sites and against the terms of usage apple stipulates to use these fora.

  • Serial number not working with upgrade from production studio

    I have an old WinXP with the first Adobe CS Production Studio Premium that I've been using for more than six years.
    I recently had to reinstall my system and now I have an install error with serial number.  The Prod Studio Prem is an upgrade
    to the Video Collection Standard. It errors on the screen when it ask for the previous version of AfterEffect and Encore.
    I had this issue before. Adobe support provided me another number and it worked.
    The odd thing about it is the install asks for AE 3.0 or later and I have AE6.5. It also asks for Encore 1.0 or later and I have Encore 1.0 & 1.5. If I can remember back several year when I called ADOBE support they said even though I qualified for the upgrade the issue probably was with the previous AE standard serial number wasn't working in the install screen. I've lost the new serial numbers now and I'm unable to reinstall.
    I'm not upgrading until next year. How can I get this working until then?

    if you don't have the old version installed you'll be prompted for both the serial number of the old version and the upgrade.  you have to use the correct serials when prompted.

    hi there.
    since my last CS2 install, it seems the activation system has changed.
    because of this changing (no longer activate server), my original discs do NOT work anymore.
    good thing is, available CS2 by download.
    however, i couldn't find Premium Edition which i have been using.
    it looks i LOST some of my programs such as; After Effect, Premiere etc... which are included only in Premium.
    Or,
    i just couldn't reach to the download page for CS2 Production Studio Premium?
    i see the pdf direction says about Premium edition (2 more download files).
    if anyone know about this??? ?
    my work and project have stacked...
    i'm at a loss by this complicated problem...

    the link you posted is for CS2, not for Premium.
    according to the install direction (pdf)...
    Premium should have 4th file for programs which are not included standard, and 2nd "extras" file.
    i attached the screenshots what the pdf says.
    Premium should include 2 more files (marked star: *) and commented at the bottom.

    I have purchased a full retail version of "Adobe Production Studio Premium" (2005) (1 user licence) off Amazon, but there are problems  to activate it.
    Tried to activate the software by internet and by phone. Both times equally unsuccessful. Eventually I have located the following link "https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/entitlement/index.cfm?e=cs2_downloads" to resolve the activation process however I could not find the exact package to correspond to my purchase "Production Studio Premium" - instead everything is splintered into different parts. Am I legally allowed to download and install the software from individual parts provided within "the link" I have mentioned or I should consider going for a refund and sending back the "Adobe Production Studio Premium" for a full refund. Bear in mind, I have no other but commercial and business intentions. Help and advise appreciated.

    If you purchased the CS2 suite then you are allowed to download and install whatever you can of the software thru the Adobe site.

  • Can't install After Effects with Production Studio

    I have an older version of Production Studio that includes AE 7.0  I has to wipte my drive and reinstall Windows XP and all my software. However, when i try to install the full Production Studio, it says that AE 7 is already installed. It is not!!
    The problem started when I first did the reinstall, the computer crashed. I then installed everything and put in the studio serial number. ALL the other prodcuts ran fine, photoshop, illust, premiere, etc. BUT AE 7 asked for a serail number seperately. I then unistalled everything. I used an uninstalled and even a registry cleaner. I got rid of EVERY Adobe program, file, folder and even registry entry. However, the studio installed still says AE is present!!! There is NOTHING on my computer that says Adobe! What is it checking that it thinks there is a copy of AE somewhere!!
    Any help, please......I need to use it, but i can not afford to upgrade at this time. I spent a LOT of money on this bundle a few years ago. I just want to use what i bought.

    @Adobe First, you should get rid of your crappy OUTSOURCED phone tech support. They wasted over 2 hours of my time and your money and they know nothing.
    @Tam151 This is how I finally figured out that to do (on my own!!!!!!). THe problem is caused by the auto install of Direct X. The installer installs AE then installs Direct X without checking even though it was already installed. Then the system does a reboot before the rest of the Studio is installed. This causes AE to be installed seperately from the Studio and hence causes the registration problem.
    SO, first, I had to do a system restore to a date before I started to install the Studio. This takes care of the hidden registry files. I tried for hours and hours with about 4 different programs and NOTHING will remove the 'hidden' entry and Adobe could not help me. THe tech support took my computer for over an hour trying to uninstall everything which was a waste, they didn't even know where the reg entry was. That is why I did a system restore. But now there is still the same problem if I try to install again. The solution is to copy all the DVDs onto your hard drive AND DELETE THE DIRECT X folders in ALL LOCATIONS!!!!! Do the install from the hard drive and now it will do a complete install without the direct X problem (although make sure you have Direct X installed already) and you will be able to register and use all the products!!
    1. system restore to before you started the install
    2. copy all dvds to hard drive
    3. delete all dirext x folders
    4. install from hard drive

  • After upgrade to JHS Production: cannot find two standard java Classes

    Hi, First: congratulations on the Production release. Great that it is there.
    After making several backups, I have upgraded to JHS build 91 Production release (I came from JHS build 78).
    1. after upgrade to JHS Production, I tested my application first (so before re-enabling Jheadstart on the ViewController and regenerating pages). The application still worked fine
    2. I re-enabled JHeadstart on the VC project
    3. I opened my Applictation Definition Files and saved them (I noticed a deprecated property OverwriteUiModel that disappeared after saving)
    4. I ran the generator on my three App. Def. Files.
    5. I rebuild the whole application
    6. I ran the application, the first (Table-style) page comes up fine
    7. But when clicking on one of the records in the Table to navigate to the Form page...the Embedded OC4J exits with a fatal error:
    Fatal error: Cannot find class java/lang/StackOverflowError
    Fatal error: Cannot find class java/lang/NullPointerException

    I have the (ugly) feeling that I am facing the problem mentioned in http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=1211326? : it looks like when a JSPX page gets too complex, the Embedded OC4J raises this StackOverFlow class notfound error :-(. Probably the (it only hits me when navigating to the most complex page) generated page generated with build 78 was fine, but the generated page after build 91 has become too complex, allthough nothing changed in between. What I can see from the difference between the before and after build 91 situation for all pages, is that you have added the <id=...> arguments to all ADF elements, like [id="PersonsSaveButton"] in:

I noticed people asking if there is a kind of 'maximum' on how complex a page can get before this error situation happens. No answer on that found (you do not want to know there is a maximum anyway).
    The specific page is a master with 5 stacked detail regions and three "use as LOV" groups. Further on about 30 domains are used...
    And the page has not finished yet, it will get more "complex" that this. I hope someone knows a good solution so that I can continue to use the Embedded OC4J for testing, otherwise developing wil get very time consuming if I have to deploy to AS every time...something I cannot afford since the project deadline is getting nearer and nearer.

    I am currently a pc user; however, I am very interested in the new Mac Pro. I would like to run my current software which is the Adobe Production Studio Video bundle. It is meant to run on Windows. If I were to switch to the Mac Pro and run bootcamp, is anyone aware if I would have any problems. This software is very demanding of the system and I am really curious about this? If anyone could help that would be great. Thanks!

    By upgrade i am NOT talking about over clocking or hardware upgrades, but what I want to ask is if it is possible to trade in my (older  not old but still available on Apple's website) hand those in, and get a better version of that product. More specifically, I am thinking about upgrading my iPod touch 5G 16 GB to the iPod touch 5 to 32 GB, with the rear camera. I am only asking this because my friend recently upgraded his 3G to the 3GS, because it had a cracked screen, and they charged €150. At the time, the 3G cost around €300, or something like that, but my main question is, is it possible?

    No. What your friend did was purchase an out of warranty replacement for his phone, and because the store no longer had any of the 3G service units in stock, they gave him a 3GS.

    I have recently purchased the entire Adobe production studio (PhotoShop, Illustrator, Premiero Pro etc) and I'm considering a switch to the world of Mac. Will these programs work at all?

    Since this is a Windows-only suite and these applications are rather graphics and processor intensive, you'd probably have the best luck running them under Apple's Boot Camp. Unfortunately, this means you lose your Mac capabilities while booted into Windows. Be sure to post your question in Parallel's forums <http://forums.parallels.com> and check the CrossOver Mac site <http://www.codeweavers.com> to see if your applications are compatible and/or will work well.
    Most of these applications have Mac versions as well. You may be able to work with Adobe to purchase a crossgrade of these products and find alternate applications to replace those that only run in Windows.

    Install them all again.
    Sorry, in seriousness, are you worrying about activation of a perpetual license?  Pick up the phone and call Adobe Customer Support.  Explain to them that you've reinstalled everything from scratch after formatting your system, and would like them to make it possible for you to activate Photoshop again.  They'll work their database magic and you should be good to go to activate with your serial number again.
    If you're on the Creative Cloud I don't believe you need to call anyone.  Just log in with your Adobe ID.

  • Can I upgrade to Final Cut Studio 7 if my last version is also an upgrade??

    I upgraded to Final Cut Pro 4.5 with a version that was for upgrading to FCP 4 from either version 1, 2 or 3.
    I no longer have the previous version, just the FCP 4 box/discs and the "upgrade" authorization code on the sticker it came on.
    I see that there's an upgrade to Final Cut Studio 7 for around $300 from any previous non-academic version...but what about if the last version is an upgrade too?? It IS the FULL FCP 4.5.
    Am I eligible for this discounted upgrade to FC Studio 7? Has anyone done exactly this?

    This problem brings up another associated question.
    Is it possible to extract from the app/computer the original Retail Serial Number?
    With my Final Cut Express 4.0.1 I simply go to HD>Library>Application Support>ProApps and open the FCE System ID in TextEdit in order to have my original FCE 1.0.1 revealed. (The upgrade number of course is displayed on the splash screen and also "About FCE").
    However, opening the FCS System ID or the ProAppsSystemID does not reveal any serial number . . . . though my FCS3 is a Full Retail Version. Maybe if it was an upgrade, it might?
    Being able to access and save the original reg would be useful for anyone who has lost it since upgrading.
    It must be stored somewhere, unless when it was originally installed the computer just registered that it had a suitable number and did not save the specific one.
