Crreating additional e-mail account

I have been trying to set up an additional e-mail account via 'mail>preferences' but it just greys out in my mailbox. My ISP e-mail is Hotmail and I was able to set up an additional account via Hotmail but I can only access it through Hotmail which I can't be bothered to do as I have to go through my browser.
Anyone have any answers?

can you go to homefolder/library/mail and for that mail folder can you do command I or get info from the finder> file>menu and find out if you have permissions on that folder, and what permissions you have as in read or read&write? if only read then change to read&write. let me know if that helps.

  • Creating additional E-Mail accounts

    On the iPad 2, how do I add additional e-mail folders to an account.  The account only shows and Inbox and Trash folders.  Sync does not pick up my other Outlook folders.

    The iTunes sync process does not include email account mailboxes and messages.
    Not possible to create additional mailboxes with the iPad's Mail app, but with an IMAP account all server stored mailboxes will be available automatically. You can create additional server stored mailboxes for an IMAP account with the email client used on your computer for accessing the account or via webmail access for the account using a browser. All server stored mailboxes with an IMAP account will be available automatically when accessing the account with the iPad's Mail app along with all server stored mailboxes kept synchronized with the server with each email client used to access the account.
    None of this is available with a POP account.

  • Remove additional icloud mail accounts

    My daughters each have an iPhone, and they've been using my apple ID in the app store and for their mail. Since I discovered the family sharing, I setup an icloud account for each of them, but when I go into settings, icloud, scroll to the bottom under advanced and click on mail, they have other icloud mail addresses, not the one I recently setup under family sharing. How can I delete these icloud mail accounts and set their phones up to use their new icloud account?

    Yes, I'm trying to setup Family Sharing because in the past, their devices all had my Apple ID, so they could buy apps and music, but as they're getting older, they're tired of sharing the same Apple ID, mine, because when someone texts them, they both get it.
    I've already setup Family Sharing using my Apple ID, and I assume I've set it up correctly, so when you first enter the iCloud settings, my Apple ID is at the top of the page and under it lists their names, which is where it used to read Family Sharing.  Now that they each have their own iCloud account, I'm trying to setup the device to use it,  but from what I can tell, it looks like they tried setting up their own Apple accounts because they were tired of receiving each other's texts. When I go to advanced iCloud mail settings (at the bottom of the iCloud settings page, they have multiple iCloud accounts. I'd like to delete all of these and only use the one I setup for them, but I can't figure out how to delete these accounts from the device. Or, is it possible for me to add one of these accounts, which are already listed, to my Family Sharing account and then delete the others? Only problem is, I can't figure out how to delete these iCloud mail accounts from the device.
    I know this must be confusing to understand, I use Android, so I've attached a couple of pictures from the settings screens that I'm referring to. Hopefully this will help me explain it better so you understand whatII'm trying to do.  Thanks.

  • Adding an additional e-mail account

    Has anyone figured out how to add another e-mail account? I want to be able to check msn and school account but I have no clue how to add those. Any advice?

    Can you give us some more info - in the setup page (from the settings apps, for mail), I assumed you clicked on the "Add Account" choice, then "Other". At this point you enter your name, email address, password and description. When saved, you get a screen where you choose IMAP or POP and then enter the server info.
    Does this not work for you? What problem are you running into and at what point?

    I had a MobileMe account and when Apple switched to iCloud I now have two mail accounts: @mac and @me. Additionally my folders in iCloud no longer show up in my Mail program on my iMac. How do I return to one account and see my iCloud folders on my mac?

    I went to Notes.  Showed all notes.  Three notes are duplicated, one on iCloud and one on Icloud.  I deleted one of the notes and checked to see if the other still existed.  It did.  I deleted the other two notes.  I check all notes and found that the three notes were deleted on both accounts.  The only notes on this device are under On My iPad.
    I went into system settings and tried to delete the Icloud account.  The warning comes up:  This will delete all IMAP notes on your device.  Will this also delete the notes in On My iPad?

  • How do I stop Thunderbird from creating additional folders when I add a new mail account?

    I've been using Thunderbird for about 8 years now, migrating the configuration from version to version. Currently I have two accounts it picks up email from. I want to add a third account but everytime I do this, it creates a bunch of new folders with the name of the account in my folder tree. This is undesirable, mainly because it looks terrible and it's also dodging the default filtering I have set up globally for received messages.
    How do I create a new mail account without it making new folders and just using the local folders like the other accounts already do?
    I do not use Thunderbird's internal spam filtering, I use popfile and use message filters to sort the emails by headers Popfile adds to my messages. I do not understand why it won't let me make a new account like the other accounts without making a special folder for the new account. Please help?

    Item 1. Global inbox only works with POP mail accounts.
    Tools menu > account settings >server Settings > advanced and select use global inbox to turn it on. Note the folder will disappear, so move the mail you want from them before you change the settings.
    Item 2. IMAP accounts must have their own folders. The View menu > folder > unified view was designed to overcome that as much as possible,

  • Mail account addition

    I have a yahoo account. But can I make another e-mail account in OS X mail if I don't have a .mac account?

    Is it possible to connect my yahoo account to mail so that when I click on an address in craigslist, a yahoo mail composition will open with forwarding address installed?
    It's possible, but you'd have to install a few things and always be logged into Yahoo! Mail for it to work. Ultimately, it's easier to just pay to upgrade your Yahoo! account to a Yahoo! Mail Plus account--$20 per year is very cheap, especially when you have unlimited email storage, as well as the ability to send/receive email through Mail, and get very good spam filtering from Yahoo!

  • Cannot add additional mail accounts

    Has mail been updated with a new script for adding accounts? I cannot find out how to get a blank screen for the account settings. It keeps giving me a dialog that does not present all of the options, so it is unable to check the server (incorrect port) and will not go any further.
    It is probably something easy, but it is not readily apparent and is starting to get very frustrating.
    Thanks,
    mcm

    The Account Setup “Assistant” is a pain, but after setting up the first mail account, you can bypass it by holding the Option (Alt) key down when clicking the [+] button in Preferences > Accounts. Alternatively, your could:
    (1) Let it time-out. It may take a few minutes, but you can do other things with the computer in the meanwhile.
    (2) Shut down the Internet connection so that Mail times-out immediately, and go online again when done.

  • New open directory account doesn't create mail account

    Hi All
         I have a Mac Mini with lion server, Fresh out of the box i messed with it a few times to learn and then i did a clean (internet) install and started with the settings i wanted (hostname, etc) with no mistakes. (It seems Lion doesn't like applhying most changes)
    When i set it up i created one local admin user that won't be in the open directory.
    Anyway, I've set up the following :
    * Address Book
    * File Sharing
    * iCal
    * Mail
    * Profile Manager
    * and VPN
    The first open directory user i added was myself and that user managed to get assigned an email account.
    Susiquent users i've added have not been registered with the mail subsystem.
    I've checked this using the "Server Admin" additional download management tool. (Mail service on the left, Maintenance up the top and then accounts uder that)
    There is only one mail account and thats the first one i've added.
    I havn't played with the settings so other than switching things on it should "just work" but it doesn't.
    I've prevously setup vmail servers using mysql to store the accounts with postfix and courioer imap but that was in some ways simpler as nothing was under the covers. I havn't dug too much into the dovecot config files, etc as i believe there is an all knowing server configuration engine at work here that isn't doing its job (which i havn't dug into)
    Has anyone had this issue of the mail accounts not being created?
    Or can anyone point me to a fix?

    It seems to have something to do with profile manager.
    I get stack traces in the "system messages" logs for the "Server" application, grrrr.
    I'll get that info and attempt to submit a but report tonight.

  • For FaceTime, can you add an additional e-mail that is not your Apple ID e-mail?  Everytime I try to do this on my iPad it sends me a verification e-mail saying I am trying to change the e-mail address associated with my apple ID and wants me to verify.

    I am trying to add another e-mail address to FaceTime, but do not want to change the e-mail address associated with my Apple ID.  Everytime I try to add the e-mail address in my FaceTime settings, it send me a verification e-mail asking me to verify that I want to change to this new e-mail address for my apple ID.  I do not.  I just want to have an additional e-mail address for people to contact me via FaceTime. Does anyone know how to do this?

    You can have multiple addresses associated with your apple id. You will have to verify any changes before they can be added and this is done by sending you an email. This is to protect you from someone else makeing changes to your account.
    You can make any changes and view all your info here:

  • How do I delete an old e-mail account from my Apple ID?

    When I purchased my iPad, I registered with an old y-mail account and a backup e-mail to my girlfriend's e-mail address, Now I have a g-mail account and need to delete the y-mail account and change the backup e-mail account. I cannot find information that will help me accomplish this.

    Try here...
    I no longer have an email address that was also my Apple ID. Can I still use the email address as my Apple ID?
    Apple recommends you change your Apple ID to your current, working email address. This will not create another Apple ID, it will only change it to your working email address. See Changing the name you use for your Apple ID if you'd like more information.
    Note: @mac.com and @me.com Apple IDs can not be renamed.  If you no longer use the .mac or .me email address be sure to add your valid email address as an additional email address.

  • How do I open an apple e-mail account

    How do I open an apple e-mail account?

    You have to set up iCloud on your iOS device or Mac, then turn Mail on in the iCloud settings.  See here for additional detials on how to do this: http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/.

  • How do I get an additional iCloud email account?

    I've had a @me.com email account for years. But I need another email account for my business and I want it to be an @icloud.com account. Can this be done?

    You can create up to three aliases - these are additional addresses (not accounts) which deliver into the same inbox as the main address.
    http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mm6b1a490a
    (You may find that you can't create an alias just at the moment while they are rolling out the @icloud.com addresses to all accounts).
    Or you could create a new iCloud account - you will need to create a new Apple ID using a different email address from the on you used to create your present one. You can sign into System Preferences>Mail, contacts and Calendars with this and run it in addition to the existing one.

  • How can I change my iCloud my e-mail-account

    How can I change my iCloud my e-mail-account?

    Once you have created an iCloud account and chosen an @icloud.com address to go with it you can't change the address (short of creating an entirely new account).
    However, all is not lost. You can add up to three 'email aliases' - these are additional addresses (not accounts) which deliver into the same inbox as the main account. (In fact it's a good idea to give out alias addresses, rather than the main address, because if they attract spam you can easily change them.) (New aliases can only be @icloud.com ones; @me.com addresses cannot now be created.)
    You should be aware before you start that once you've created an alias you cannot turn that address into a full iCloud account, move it to another account, or reactivate it if you delete it.
